Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Here here with the prudish-ness. I didn't do perineal massage last time as I couldn't face it... There is no way I'd let my DH do it, too embarrassing.... and he's a GP and must see fanjo's all the time Hmm. Plus no way I'd have any idea of where my cervix was position-wise, even if I was sure I was feeling the right bit... I too am a bit of a prude.
And purple, I did a quick read this morning, and was indeed eating my breakfast reading your perineal massage post. Was slightly unnerved, but no enough to stop eating Smile

I was indeed jammy with the buggy spotting- especially as they didn't even have it with them. I live 200 metres from their house so I'm paying and collecting today, quick, before they go on ebay and realise that 2-3 year old Baby Jogger city mini doubles are selling for £250-£275. They say they've had it about 6 months- I assumed from new, though maybe not, but it's purple, and I thought I'd seen somewhere that was a new 2011 colour, so must be newish. Anyway, it's cheap, it's here, DH agreed, job done. Grin

ninja, twin 1 is still quiet for me at 26 weeks, has been for a couple of days now, though I think I feel the odd squirm. I think the movements can be very, very sporadic early on as they're so titchy they can just move so they're wriggling where you can't feel it etc. When I couldn't feel twin 1 and had a scan at 22 weeks, he was clearly moving on the screen, and I could still feel nothing. So definitely don't worry at 17 weeks!

Right, I'm knackered. Up an hour and half with DD in the night again (hope yours slept better fishcake) but no time to rest, got mince that must be cooked or go off- and of course, with the bedtime issues, that has to be now, while she naps, sigh...

Filll us in on your mega-move when you get a chance and if its not too stressful thinking about it fischcake!

And scarlet, we have no bedroom for the boys- their cots will arrive mid Feb ish? Though we do have the car, and the Monster Buggy, and nearly a lightweight double Grin . Hurrah, we're 27 weeks this week Grin

Sorry to everyone I've missed

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 17/01/2012 14:08

Dream go on ask Dh if he sees lots of fanjos! I would assume he does, but maybe it is one of those things they don't actually see often?

I can't believe how organised you are! My new pushchair should be here in two weeks, (excited!) so I have something to push him in, he has somewhere to sleep in the short term (moses) I have ordered extra nappies, I have some clothes, so getting there! Just need a new car seat at the bare minimum but do need a few more things really.

This baby is a lot 'quieter' than Dd was, so I often panic, especially as I will be busy and then I will wonder, when did I last feel him move? Luckily, putting music on and poking him seems to work.

Not sure who was looking for a pacapod? This site give 10% off if you look on the right you put your email in and price match they have the amazing birthing dress but also have a good sale on bras.

I tried the perineal massage once, it bloody hurt so thought I would stick with it as a baby is going to stretch it out much. much more, and honestly it quickly went from being teeth gritting horrible to not very bad. Then I had my 7lber with no tears, only a couple of cuts from her fingernails as she came out with her hand by her face! So I am really sure it worked.
No idea about my cervix either and I don't like tampons as I am not a furkler Wink
Dim the lights and have a go! It is only a bit inside so nothing like cervix checking. Slightly surprised about how none of you are willing to let Dh have a go, are we one of 'those couples?' Confused

Oh and it was after bathing for me, so possibly helped.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 17/01/2012 14:09

Well, this morning I'm thinking I do want to go to the midwifery council people just because I'm so pissed off that they ignored everything we said. They're supposed to be sending us details of how we do this, so will see how complicated it sounds when that arrives.

On the perineal massage front, did anyone else get coached through pushing? I was asking the MWs about tearing/stitches/forceps during labour, and when the shift changed the night MW said to me 'if you don't want stitches, this is your woman', ie, the day MW, and she was right. The day MW was excellent - when I was 10cm, she checked me and said there was still a bit of a lip, so I had to wait another 45 minutes or so, and then she topped up my epidural and we got started. She asked if I could still feel the contractions, and I could, and then she coached me to push hard during cx, and when DD1 started to crown she got me to do half-strength pushes with the cx. It worked - no stitches! She knew what she was doing and she was really good at getting me to do it. I didn't do any perineal massage, but having coached pushing worked for me.

pommedenoel · 17/01/2012 15:53

Hey all - I too am squeamish about perineal massage - although I'm not about my cervix weirdly... My mum bought me a pot of baby bum barrier cream/nipple cream/perineal massage cream all in one thing once from Waitrose. I did contemplate it at about 37 weeks with dd but then decided against it! I was hoping to avoid this time based on the fact it's done it once!!

Scan went really well this morning, she has turned and is growing fine - 4lbs 6oz they reckon now at 33 plus 2. That puts her on roughly 25 percentile I think looking at the graph. Brooking she stays head down now. She also still looks like a girl - I got them to check!

Too - I complained about a GP once regarding treatment for me that put me in very grave danger over a period of weeks/months. I ended up abandoning it halfway through the process - I got to the bit where she wrote to me and even though I found her letter unsatisfactory decided I didn't want the hassle of continuing. As she can still prey on my mind a bit I'm not sure I did the right thing. My parents wanted me to continue the process and were disappointed when I didn't. I think when it's your children not you there would be a higher chance of it continuing to feel unresolved in your mind so I probably agree with your dh I think. You don't have to decide immediately iirc so give yourself time to be sure. xxx

Little - clock going well - 3 days in a row dd hasn't got up until 7am! And on Sunday night she woke at midnightish and didn't get out of bved just cried for me to come and see her. So far I would recommend it.

pommedenoel · 17/01/2012 17:11

Oh and Little hope private scan went well.

DreamingOfPeace · 17/01/2012 18:52

Just popped on to see if any news from little,

too, I gave birth kneeling up, pushed when mw said etc. Third degree tear...

Anyway, back later guys.

TheLittleFriend · 17/01/2012 19:11

Not very good news here. The bleeding has become very heavy and bright red with large clots. Lots of strong pains this afternoon too. My gp has referred me to the EPU who are scanning me at 1.45 tomorrow afternoon. We didn't bother going for the private scan in the end. I'm pretty sure what the outcome is going to be, and as it's just a scan clinic there is nothing else they could do for me, so I'd have to go to the hospital scan anyway, iyswim. I'll let you know what happens tomorrow xx

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 17/01/2012 19:19

Little I'm so sorry to hear the bleeding and pains have got worse, that must be so stressful for you. Please don't give up hope, we will all be No Brooking full tilt for you. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping for the best possible outcome still.

scarletfingernail · 17/01/2012 19:26

Too I hope it's not too complicated for you to follow it through. It certainly sounds as though you've got grounds to take it further Sad

Fantastic scan update pomme did it feel strange knowing it was your last scan after having so many?

I hope Little has also had a good scan today.

I've treated myself to a pair of jeans from Next and 2 tops from H&M. I can wear something other than black leggings at last. I also bought the baby 3 very cute sleepsuits from Next.

Wants3 · 17/01/2012 21:04

Thinking of you little

I didn't do any prep down below for last 2 pregnancies and didn't tear.(episiotomy with ds1!) I reckon everything is pretty slack down there now:)

Biscuitsandtea · 17/01/2012 21:15

DreamingOfPeace · 17/01/2012 21:21

Oh little, I'm so sad to hear its worse today. I was so delighted when you got your bfp, and I am going to Brook very hard its good news tomorrow. Look after yourself til then, I'm sure you're so worried. Xxx

(scarlet, I think leggings are the comfiest thing to wear! I don't even own a pair of non-mat leggings, but think I should now!)

DreamingOfPeace · 17/01/2012 21:23

And biscuits, if I have these babies naturally I'll be hoping they didn't tighten things up with the repair and i have a fanjo like a wizards sleeve Wink

scarletfingernail · 17/01/2012 22:03

Did anyone just watch 15 Kids And Counting? Shock
I'm slightly concerned that baby number 15 was a 19 hour labour. I imagined they'd just fall out after that many.

OP posts:
musicalmrs · 17/01/2012 22:04

Little, brooking hard for you, and thinking of you. Hope you find ways to keep your mind busy in these waiting hours - I know they're the worst.
