New thread for new babies!

Previous thread at: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/1363221-January-2012-Will-any-of-us-deliver-before-Father-Christmas-The-race-is-on?pg=20

Happy new year everyone, not long for those of us that haven't popped yet!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
tigana · 03/01/2012 21:14

Grrrr, due date is friday but I am so ready now. DS was 8 days late, puhlease don't let this one do the same, I'll go loopy! Getting lots of stabby pains inside fanjo, and lots of braxtons, but nothing concrete.

Fish, ds is being 'challenging' too at the moment. He's 6. DH copes with it better than me, combination of DS being difficult and me being a fed up, hormonal grumpy hippo. Sending you calm, coping vibes...

shonnomanom · 03/01/2012 21:18

Hi Ladies,
Not been a great day.
Was woke up early with Dd frightened of the galeforce winds. By 8am DF had been out to move the cars twice, catch, collapse and put trampoline in the garage(he was supposed to do it in Oct), collect all the neighbours bins and arrange them so the heavy bins surrounded the lighter bins as a light bin had been blown over and the street is looking disgusting now. Why do galeforce winds need to come on bin day?!
We also managed to take in a lightening show which turned out to actually be the electricity pylon 2miles away exploding. Thus meaning that my parents village has been without power all day and have been told it will be back on tommorrow at 6pm.
On a personal level, iv been having loads of HB and constant back pain all day. I just dont feel right at all. Iv been having 'decent' sleeps the last few nights but today I crashed out for over 2 hours and im ready to go back to bed now.
My parents had pre-arranged to have dd overnight as they are taking her over to my sisters in the morning. She is having a ball dancing in the candle light and torches! So if there was a perfect time to go into labour it would be tonight. Im now 2 days over.
Got MW tommorrow pm and she is going to repeat the sweep. Im really hoping for it to be sucessful. But really hoping that it will be Friday when baby arrives as my sister is having her twins by csection on Thursday.

Sorry for the novel.

Good luck tommorrow green
And oiesha dizzy spells in late pregnancy are normal. Increase your fluid intake, slow down and take it easy. If you actually pass out contact your mw otherwise tell her at next visit. I know lots of women that have had them at this stage.

As for everyone else, hope your all well and getting plenty of rest. x

ParsleyLion1 · 03/01/2012 21:35

Hope you get a good night's rest sho was thinking of you earlier when somebody on the radio said the wind were worse than hurricane bawbags.

bhm I'm being induced on 16/1 so a couple of weeks away. Hopefully I can coax bubs to aim correctly by then!

oeisha just make sure you get plenty of rest I keep dizzying myself by bending down too far. I'm needing to drink loads as well i'm drinking 2-3 litres a day at the moment! It's v similar to the blood rushes I was getting in 1st trimester. Keep an eye on it though for pe symptoms.

ParsleyLion1 · 03/01/2012 21:39

Oh and milly I'm taking fybogel - mainly because it is sugar free so doesn't conflict with the GD. I can't eat enough fruit, dried fruits etc as the sugars are too high but the fybogel seems to help. That and I'm having porridge most mornings with added bran.

MissRee · 03/01/2012 22:29

The one thing guaranteed to get my bowels moving at the moment is pickled onions!!!! Luckily they are available in abundance at this time of year Grin TMI but they smell the same coming out as going in though Blush

JingleFryn · 03/01/2012 22:31

Hey ladies,
Can't believe I've missed so much! My mat cover started today so I'm having to spend the next week and a half pretending to actually work rather that faffing about on here/FB.
Going back to the holiday question, take them as young as possible! We took DD to Spain, Poland, Germany and Italy all before she was 7 months - it's so easy if you're breastfeeding. And definitely before they can walk. Every flight now is a chore as she wants to be up and about, which is fine with a nice crew, and a 'mare otherwise!
green good luck! Will look forward to your news and anyone else's too!
No signs here, although I finally washed some baby clothes - I'd forgotten how tiny babies are! Quite excited now.
Hope you're all ok and keep those babies coming!

mummyzoe2012 · 03/01/2012 22:58

Hi all, ame is still hanging in there, pains are still irregular but getting more intence! Rang assesment unit and they said I'm still in early labour and they think it could be a long one. See the midwife on monday, might pop to assement unit tomorrow as I've had loads of plug come away today and ask for an internal to see if I'm dilating at all. Fx for all others with pain. And labour vibes to all those still waiting.

rednosedreindeerhead · 03/01/2012 23:07

ooooh good luck green how exciting!!

my news of the day is I now officially have an independent midwife arranged by the NHS for my home birth yay!!!!!!!!!!! Grin i am over the moon and after months of wrangling and referring to different hospitals etc i can finally relax and look forward to the birth. they got hauled over the coals by a great female barrister working for free for all the couples in my area and have finally agreed to do what every other NHS Trust does and supply us with midwives. Will be sending that woman some flowers.

oiesha I've been a bit dizzy too and have had palpitation type things - i think it's just late pregnancy, but I guess we should all keep an eye on it.

Moobee · 03/01/2012 23:51

That's wonderful news Red! Thank goodness for the barrister.

Thanks to everyone for holidays feedback - I thought it would be good to take them while they're small (pre walking) but I was wary of going too far. Whoever said about taking them after their jabs, thank you, that was something else I'd not thought of. A cottage in UK while tiny sounds good and then maybe further afield later in the year.

Hope everyone experiencing aches, pains and labour like waves has a good night. x

Wormshuffler · 03/01/2012 23:51

Great news red now you can resold relax and wait until baby decides the time is right.

Your baby certainly seems to be putting you through the ringer zoe let's hope she is better behaved when she finally arrives!

Hope the winds have calmed down for you sho we were let off relatively lightly here in lincolnshire.

Good luck green I guess I may be too late for you to actually see that if you.have been started off tonight.

I'm trying a new strategy of staying up later before attempting sleep , my mind is awash with worries about the cs and whether everything is ready. I am going to keep myself so busy tomorrow in the hope it flows by.

FrillyMilly · 04/01/2012 00:07

I cannot sleep. It's like my mind won't switch off. DD starts pre school this week and when I enrolled her I mentioned about needing childcare for her and baby when I go back to work in September. Next thing a local child minder contacts me, she seems to assume I'm going to use her and wants to know what hours I require. I've no idea what hours I will be doing and there's 8 months before I go back. It's so stupid but I can't get it out my head and panicking that I should have it sorted already. Aargh stupid head stop thinking!!

I sent DH out for prune juice. It's the most disgusting thing I've ever had to drink. It's like drinking medicine. I hope it works.

peanuts777 · 04/01/2012 00:15

Thank you for the advice! I feel much better, this thread rocks and I wish I joined earlier.
I shall sleep a little easier tonight with my flip flops, peppermint tea and lactulose in my newly packed hospital bag.

I was convinced that babe 3 would have a groovy birthdate like 010112 and be here by now, but no.......not yet......

I feel fit to burst at the seams, it definitely gets harder with each pregnancy

addictediam · 04/01/2012 01:25

Hi all, I'm trying to ignore the fact my glands are swollen, I have the beginnings of a sore throat, heartburn but no gaviscon/rennie, feeling horribly sick, its 1am and I'm wide awake and focus on the pains I'm havin!. Don't think its anything proper still but I just feel so restless with them!

...maybe this is the start of something after all? These pains are getting stronger, or am i just getting more worn out? If I could just have a show or my waters go or something I'd be so much happier!

Arggghhh sorry i promised myself I'd be more positive on here today. Sorry ladies. I'm just not in a good place at the moment :(

greenlady78 · 04/01/2012 05:41

Good morning ladies, sorry I can't comment on the posts above, half asleep still and about to get second gel application.

So far only some stronger contractions every now and then, but nothing extraordinary. Actually quite pleased with myself as managed my normal sleep pattern (awake every hour to pee!!!)

Apologies if I missed big news above, just posting to let you know where we are at Smile hopefully I will be allowed out for a long walk after breakfast!

Hope you are all well! Lots of love xxxx

GiraffeAHolic · 04/01/2012 05:51

Morning all, I think something is happening here. Been up since 3:30 with regular pains. Luckily Dd is still asleep, so have sent dh to fill the car with petrol.

Scared.

addictediam · 04/01/2012 07:16

Oooh giraffe hope things get moving for you.

I'm feeling more.positive now, dh went and bought me rennie and soothers, I managed to get back to sleep around 3am and slept till 5.

Still having strong pains around every 4 minutes, but i don't think they are quite strong enough yet. And I've just spewed my empty guts up...lovely! I think things are happening, so hopefully I'll get to hold my baby soon.

ghosteditor · 04/01/2012 07:25

Gosh - could it be we'll have babies from addicted, green, and giraffe today? Grin

Good luck ladies, hope you're all well! And green hope you get out and about for that walk this morning; it will help.

Today I'm resolving to do some food shopping, start filling in my lovely baby book (a gift from SIL), do my exercise DVD, and probably nap. Since I'm awake at the outrageous hour of 06.30 (a lie in for most of you - how do you do it?), that's all feasible.

DH has just gone off to work - won't see him until 6pm tomorrow Sad

ParsleyLion1 · 04/01/2012 07:26

Morning ladies Smile

Good luck again today green my MW said to keep as active as possible as it may help to speed things up.

giraffe and addicted sound positive Fx something is happening Grin

mz hang on in there. It will be worth it when she arrives x

greenlady78 · 04/01/2012 07:38

My water just broke!!! Husband went home Yesterday evening thinking things would take a while and now panicking trying to get to hospital, he is more stressed than I am!

By the way, wearing disposable knickers and two pads I feel like wearing a giant nappy!!!! Ha, keeping up the good spirits over here and thanking all of you lovely ladies for the message. As much as I manage I will keep you guys posted! xxxx

greenlady78 · 04/01/2012 07:54

I have to say I thought my bladder had given up for a second before realising water went :P

FrillyMilly · 04/01/2012 07:55

Good luck greenlady. I'm sure your DH will be back in time!!

Good luck to giraffe and addicted too. A baby boom today.

I've been having awful cramps all night but I think that's to do with the prune juice rather than the baby.

ghosteditor · 04/01/2012 08:13

Wohoo well on the way then green!

Moobee · 04/01/2012 08:27

Good morning all! Good luck addicted, green, and giraffe! :) and wormshuffler, your turn tomorrow, things are getting active here!

Easilydistracted - I forgot to say thank you for your passport tips, I think that cements my decision to get one early.

Sho, sorry to hear that the gales caused such problems. It's going to be nice the cousins having a close birthday! Hopefully not an identical birthday though...

I hope everyone else is well and various aches and pains aren't too bad.

I'm off to the midwife for my 40week appointment (although I'm not 40 weeks till Sunday). I think they'll offer a sweep but I'm going to decline - I don't want to start that until they're actually over 40 weeks. I'd be interested to know if there's any more signs (dilation etc though). I'm still happy for them to stay put a few more days.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 04/01/2012 08:55

Morning,

ooh Im very excited for you labouring ladies. You go girls xxxx cant wait to hear news of your babies.

...and I am unreasonably jealous too, but in a nice way :)

Red i'm so pleased about your home birth-thats brilliant-it's a shame it took you through all of that to get there but good on that barrister!

I was having huge cramps last night while watching telly and got very excited-but then spent the night farting loudly Blush much to DH's disgust and it's all calm again today.

My poor sis is now 4 days overdue with no signs of impending labour and 2 sweeps. Shes as fed up fed up can be and i'm getting nervous that were going to clash-I really want mum around for dd when it all happens but we have loads more friend support/childcare than my sister does so we have other options whereas my sis doesn't really so mum will go to her as a priority.

addicted hugs to you. Thats is all xxxx

shonnomanom · 04/01/2012 09:45

Morning Ladies!
Sounds like lots of babies have located the exit! So exciting! Good luck everyone and enjoy those first cuddles when you get them. Grin

Fantastic news red

Your poor sister fish, has she been given an induction date?

moobee they might not offer the sweep today if your still shy of 40weeks. My community mw is not allowed to perform it until youv passed the 40w hurdle.

My parents are still without electricity. The winds have gone completely but it looks hellish outside. The councils etc are out cutting down dangerous trees etc so the roads are covered in wood shavings. Yesterday really did more damage than Hurricane Baawbag a few weeks ago. Im just so glad that dp was here at the time.

Mum has dd for the day, dp is sleeping off his first night back at work and im at a bit of a loose end. Supposed I could find some energy to strighten up the house a bit.

Got MW at 245 this pm and she is to repeat the sweep. Given how iv been feeling these last fews days iv got a feeling it could be successfull. BUT im keeping my legs crossed tomorrow just in case. I really dont want my baby sharing a birthday with my sisters twins. Thats not selfish is it?
