Oh addicted FX. I mihgt be tempted to ring up too just in case it is definately the waters. Glad you have calmed down now! I would be the same though as I have gbs too and would sure be panicking about what to do!

addictediam · 06/01/2012 11:15

Oeisha its a drip that's given as soon as your waters go then every.4 hours until you give birth. And they will induce you to reduce risk to the baby. There are lots of debates on what is the best form of action to take wrt GBS, but its something I personally don't want to mess with so I chose the induction when waters go and ab's by drip.

If I phone triage, because I'm a high risk pregnancy, they will tell me to come in, and right now I can't, and i will panic and stress even more.

Shower finished, now to get me and the monster dressed.

Oeisha · 06/01/2012 11:23

Oh addicted . I thought it wouldn't quite be that simple... FX for you.

Talking of showers...

Moobee · 06/01/2012 11:47

Oh gosh Addicted, hope it all goes well. Glad your DH can come home - it sounds like he needs to be on alert.

Oeisha, my diastolic has gone up by 15. Hmmm, I think I'll just watch out for headaches and any other symptoms. I'm only 2 days off my due date so the baby has to arrive soon, surely... Sounds like your symptoms are something to discuss with your consultant if possible though.

I tried to make an appointment with my midwife for a sweep at 41+1 weeks rather than at my next appointment at 40+4. It sounds silly but the next appointment is on the 12th and I don't want to encourage a Friday 13th birthday. Blush the next free slot she has is on the 24th!! Rubbish, I'd be 42+2 by then. Not sure what to do. It's a silly reason to decline a sweep.

Welcome back blueeyedmonster!

fishandlilacs · 06/01/2012 11:55

I'm glad youre Ok addicted high time things got underway for you-you have been contracting long enough. Good luck.

I have bad back ache-it's coming and going in spasms.

The good news is I have juist completed my tax return. I was really worried becasue I hadn't done it and I didn't have a password for the account any longer so waas waiting for acard to come through the post-I had visions of trying to do tax return with breastfeeding newborn and no sleep but it's done and i can forget about it til next year which will be a very simple matter as I wont have worked for much of it :)

supadupapupascupa · 06/01/2012 12:47

cummon babies!!!!!! time to get a move on!!!!!!

SlightlyScrambled · 06/01/2012 13:14

Oh gosh Addicted! best of luck with things and good that it's just a trickle so far. And good that the weekend is starting too, that should free up some of your family and friends to help you out.

Just focus on one thing at a time and good luck!

Congrats to those of you who've had your little babies. Great news and I can't wait to hear the birthing stories.

And welcome to the newbies and returnees. I always wondered how some people got on who were tentatively dipping their foot in those 8 months ago.

MissRee · 06/01/2012 13:30

I am currently on a mega sulk after this mornings false start Angry

So now I am attempting to burn baby out with a ridiculously spicy chilli! I'm sure I'll only succeed in giving myself massive heartburn and the trots but ho hum, at least it feels like I'm actually trying to do something to get her moving!!!! Grin

Mum2be79 · 06/01/2012 14:15

I am really sorry but I am not going through 384 messages to catch up with the gossip but I last spoke to all of you on 29th December - the day I was told I was to be induced the following day - 30th December.

Well a week has passed and finally WE are now home!

William James was born at 10:04pm on Friday 30 December via emergency c-section weighing 6lbs 6oz. It has been a traumatic and horrific time which ended up in us both being hospitalised for 6 days!

I lost a lot of blood during labour, William's heart trace was being lost and contractions were 'violent' - so violent that they decided on an emergency c-section which they discovered that not only did I have a uterine tear (a rare side effect to the pessary which caused unusual, violent contractions) but I was having a placenta abruption. I bled uncontrollably and in the end I was in high dependency attached to oxygen and a drain. William then had low sugar and because they could only administer 1 lot of antibiotic due to GBS to me, they sent him to SCBU for antibiotics and feeding for two days until 2nd January. By this time, SCBU staff were concerned about his jaundice and over the two days monitored it. Poor mite had to endure lots of heel pricking! By 12:25am on Wednesday, he was under phototherapy lights. I was an emotional mess as all I wanted was to be home.

It was 6pm yesterday (Thursday) when we eventually arrived home.

He's now sleeping soundly in his moses basket and I'm still in my PJs (just had a lovely shower) nursing a poorly c-section scar. C-sections NOT to be taken lightly although a natural birth in the future scares the living daylights out of me!

I'll try and keep up with everyone's news as love to hear about more newborns. Last night William wanted to constantly graze every 25 minutes from 8pm until 4:30pm!!!

ghosteditor · 06/01/2012 14:20

Shock mum2be - congratulations and well done for getting through all of that! Fab to hear you're both doing well now though. All the best for a speedy recovery!!

MissRee · 06/01/2012 14:24

Congrats mum2be... sorry to hear you had such a rough time of it though Sad glad you're both on the mend and home now.

X

DeeOfTheNorthPole · 06/01/2012 14:37

Congrats mum2be - what a lovely name you've given him. Glad you're both back at home now after such a traumatic start ((hugs))

Karmanna · 06/01/2012 15:00

Congratulations mum2be! Glad you're home safe and sound! Enjoy lots of snuggles with baby William! :) xx

Nanny01 · 06/01/2012 15:24

Hi every one, sorry for not getting back to every one our little boy was born on the 4th Jan in the wee hours. I knew as soon as I had a show things were happening. Didn't get my community midwife but another lovely lady. Sucked the hospital dry of gas and air and she finaly told dh to take it of me as she was having to stop me push him out in one go. I vaguely remember her ordering me to slow down. I think all I wanted was for the pain to stop as quickly as possible. Officialy labour was 2 hours probably as I really hated the feeling of him coming down the birth cannal. Was sat up on the birthing bed with the handles to hold and only wish even though she suggested it was to shift position instead of sitting down. He popped out and I just had to be kept told to slow down and let him turn and so things a bit slower. Gas and air was fab though and every one was supportive. Came home yesterday afternoon after spening a rather disturbed night on the ward. Baby just wants to nurse all the time. He is quiet when others hold him but noisy when I have him as he just wants to feed. Any way now I am really excited to see who is next.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 06/01/2012 15:26

Congrats Mum2be - you'll have to change your name now!! Can;t wait to see a pic of William and I hope you both continue to recover speedily xx

Ghost - you're a MN addict! You must have been on here straight away as soon as you got home! Oh, and I talked to my mum, apparently my dad was panicking... I feel bad Blush

Nanny01 · 06/01/2012 15:28

Forget to add my congratulations to MUm2be poor you sorry you had such a tough time hope you heal up well and quickly to so you can enjoy your baby.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 06/01/2012 15:33

Sorry Nanny - x-post! Congrats to you, too!

I'm getting a weird pulsing fluttery feeling down below... Think the baby's dropped a bit more and I'm feeling the pulse from his head?

addictediam · 06/01/2012 15:38

Mum2be glad your finally home with your baby. Sorry to hear of ypur complications. Congratulations and hope you get lots of rest.

The trickling has stopped...ish so really not sure if it was my waters now. I've got a maternity pad on and despite feeling 'wet' and dripping down there, the pad seems dry Confused But i feel somethings happening, I've stopped weeing and my face has ballooned. I look just like i did before/after dd was born. I think this little monster is going to arrive very soon (within 2 weeks is my guess!) Rib flare is really bad again, thankfully back pain and tightenings have eased off so just 1 thong to deal with at a time

BigHotMama · 06/01/2012 16:07

Congratulations to nanny and mummytobe glad your both home safely with your babies. Thanks

ghosteditor · 06/01/2012 16:10

cakes it was my reward for hanging the washing out - having a quick stare at my phone I mean - we're operating a tight system of rewards here! Ticking off the list = biscuit and household tasks equal MN/TV/DVD time. Have just spent 45 mins crying at Grey's Anatomy Grin

nanny huge congratulations and WOW that's fast!

Fryn · 06/01/2012 16:40

mum2be - congratulations, and sorry you had to go through the ringer. He's worth it, I'm sure!

nanny - congratulations too - at that speed, I'm not surprised it chafed!

missree hope the chilli works - and even if it doesn't, it's always good to, erm, have a "clear out" before birth!

addicted glad things are a bit calmer - sounds like it'll be soon though.

Ahh, I'm "working" from home currently, but only 2 emails to deal with, so watching Lewis with half an eye and drinking tea. That's how work should be! Also spoke to the head MW at mine and red's hospital, and unfortunately as I'm due so late in the month I can't get an independent MW, but she'll sign me up with the new home birth team who are starting on the 16th Jan, so that's looking hopeful. Although given how badly organised everything is I'm still pretty sure something will go wrong.

ghost and cakes I'm very disappointed neither of you went into labour! You'll have to try harder next time!

rednosedreindeerhead · 06/01/2012 16:49

oh mum2be how scary for you all, I'm so glad you're all ok now and home with your lovely son. congratulations.

congrats to you too nanny it's all happening now isn't it!!

fryn that sounds super dodgy to me, i would keep a very close eye on that situation. your only due 6 days after me! Hmm give me a ring if you want the barristers number at any point if it looks like the HB team are not up and running.

Fryn · 06/01/2012 17:07

red hmm - I'd forgotten you're only a week before me. It was a very complex and rambling reason why I couldn't have an IM which did sound a bit dodge, but she was so adamant that the HB team would be in place and it would be fine that I fell for it! Anyway, let's see what they say next week - I'm not sure I'll fight all the way for it - it would be nice, but I'm not too worried about a hospital birth if it comes to it (and if they don't have a bed available, surely they'll have to send me home quickly!)

rednosedreindeerhead · 06/01/2012 17:10

well they're still not even telling anyone about the HB situation despite it now being in the media, so i think they're desperately trying not to fork out for any more IMs. But from everything I've heard there is not likely to be a team in place from the 16th. And I'm due on the 23rd anyway, so it's not fair that I'd get them and you wouldn't. Crazy madness. anyway I'll keep you informed if i hear any more x

shonnomanom · 06/01/2012 17:18

Congratulations m2b and nanny! Bet your both glad to get your bundles of joy home safely Thanks

Welcome back returnee's glad your all well x

missR That is some post-bump contraption and a pricey as well! Although have spent the last 4 months of this pregnancy strapped up in a tubagrip and bump band I think i'l give it a miss.

addicted how are things now?

I tried so hard to read that AutoCorrect link, but I couldnt for crying with laughter!!! Thank you x
