Congratulations :) :) :)

Sorry you had to go through the full range of stuff and had to have a sunroof job but that's all over now and you have your gorgeous girl at last. Am over the moon for you :) Pictures pliz!

Looks like bugs won the weight guess sweepstake and we were all out on the date!

So, brownie top of the list now, eh? How is that cervix of yours looking?

In the interests of TMI I am sitting here topless. I have just had a bath and discovered I can't get my frigging bra on anymore. The only other one that still might fit is in the tumble drier. Arsewipe. Time to do some internet shoppage.

CaveMum · 06/01/2012 14:38

[lurks into PESH-land for the first time]

Congrats BB (not that you have a clue who I am!)

You would not be if you found out that your once lovely 32E/34E boobies would no longer fit into a 34FF. Perhaps it is because I have eaten too many mini toblerones although my arse is still fitting in my jeans just about. God only knows what the puppies will be like when breastfeeding happens. I will run out of available letters in the lingerie alphabet.

MadameBoolala · 06/01/2012 18:31

in mad rush but oh so happy for you barbs and am trying not to let my mascara run... X

MrBitey · 06/01/2012 19:56

Congratulations barbs and welcome to the world baby barbs possible called skip if memory serves?

MrBitey · 06/01/2012 20:00

skipper even!

Ginfox · 07/01/2012 07:40

Congrats BB.

Sorry I've been offline for so long. You know how it is.... you have a baby, you spend a few weeks getting the hang of things, and think "must catch up with the lovely Peshettes who've been so fab and supportive, etc", then you read the thread and have no idea what is going on.... ff 5 months Blush!

Anyway the Foxcub got me up at 5.30, then had a nap(!) so I'm going to catch up right now!

LaLauraDePalmer · 07/01/2012 10:13

Oh happy arrival! Mucho congrats to BB, MrB et BBBaybee. Enjoy that addictive sweet-smelling baby neck!

BrownB · 07/01/2012 15:00

Massive congratulations BB! Very happy to hear of the safe delivery and another girl for the ranks! Which does indeed put me at the top of the list...

ooooh looking forward to some top of the list action coming up soon! alps are you joining brownie on the cruise ship up De Nile? You have an akshual date though don't you?

I have begun the shopping today! It is weird seeing a box in my front room that has a pram in it. Even at this late stage i worry that I have started too early, but generally as soon as I start on that track, I get a nice little kick.

Got a few other nick nacks and bits and pieces too - changing mat, bath seat, swaddle blanket, grobag etc. Quite a lot left on the list though and also need to visit IKEA too.

Anyone knowledgeable about breastfeeding on here? I would like to be able to express some so that MrK can join in too but is it really necessary to spend 100 quid on an electric double pump? Seems a lot of money.

AlpinePony · 08/01/2012 19:19

Cosmosis is your lady for all your bf enquiries.

OP posts:
Medee · 08/01/2012 20:12

No, you can hire breast pumps (hospital grade) via the NCT or your local hospital. You might also want to wait till BF is established before starting to express, by which time you might have a clearer idea of which product to go for.

BrownB · 08/01/2012 23:27

KittyKat - I'm now 38 weeks. I fear my cervix is still clamped closed however. Had another tiny wobble yesterday and am now enjoying the scenery on De Nile. I'm trying to channel a bit of my inner Truffkin...

BrownB · 08/01/2012 23:45

Doh - I meant BuggerLugger not KK re the due date. As for you KK - I also have stacks of stuff lying around the house. I'm personally not particularly keen on the pram, as there's no space for it in a cupboard.

AlpinePony · 09/01/2012 05:08

brownie Oh yes, we should all channel our inner truff really! She's inspirational! Have you started bouncing around on a birth ball yet? Eating curry? Having sex? Drinking raspberry tea and all the other old wive's tales? I think Little Bruv must (today) be head down as my bump has disappeared - I should get the tape measure out and see if my suspicions are correct as the bump is definitely bigger when he's transverse or breech!

Wrt breastpumps, so much conflicting information - one pro will tell you to establish bfing before buying a pump, the next person will tell you to pump to increase supply and establish. [shrug]

What are you planning from IKEA kitty? I think I've tested most products from there. Their stairgates are a total no-no, ours was 7 euros because we had various staff discounts - but the original price was 30 and it was utter shite. Put it this way, it's used from kitchen to dining room as we don't trust it for stairs. We're using Lindams on the stairs - got them cheap on amazon. But I suppose stairgates are quite a way away yet!

OP posts:
AlpinePony · 09/01/2012 07:04

ha! proved right, tape measure says 42" this morning, Little Bruv is in a better position!

OP posts:
Ginfox · 09/01/2012 09:29

Kat our BF support nurses have pumps to borrow (for free!). I think it's because the BF rate here is so abysmal, they'll do anything to support the few who do it.

Personally, because I struggled to establish BF for the first week or so, it was helpful to express a bit to help the supply, but you don't need large amounts at that stage (just a few mls at a time), so can probably manage by hand. If you have decent midwives or support groups they will help you figure it all out.

KatAndKit · 09/01/2012 09:53

As for ikea, we just need chests of drawers mostly and perhaps a new rug for the baby's room, and a set of curtains. They also have a budget changing table that might be useful. Not worrying about stairgates yet until he is mobile! Obviously when I go to ikea I also "need" meatballs. And cushions. But mostly we are looking at storage furniture. We are fortunate in having quite a bit of space in the house including a nice space between the front door and the utility which is conveniently pram sized.

Thanks for the tips re the pumps. I'll just leave it for now and ask the midwife next time about what is available to borrow/hire.

Now for my next daft question. What do new babies actually wear all day long? Do they wear the little short sleeved things underneath the sleepsuits or do they just wear the sleepsuit on top of a nappy? If they have the little short sleeved things on, don't their little legs get cold? It will be a spring/summer baybee so I'm not forking out on the snowsuit just yet but am confused as to what I am supposed to be dressing him in.

AlpinePony · 09/01/2012 10:09

Well right now at night Bear has a short sleeved vest and his sleepsuit at night and Little Bruv will wear the same during the day - when they're very, very, very new they'll quite probably need more layers than that - e.g., a cardi and booties wouldn't go amiss either - plus hat. It was 30 in our apartment when we brought Bear home and he still needed to be wrapped up warm - tbh, that surprised me! But honestly, you'll figure it all out so quickly and they're quick to let you know if they're too hot/cold!

I think we're getting a changing table this time, we didn't bother last time because being in the apartment it was an easy walk to our changing station. However, I'm not dragging Little Bruv up and down stairs with a healing c-section and changing them on the bed is back-breaking, probably more so with c-section!

Greetings oh mighty PESH [prostates self on floor]

I'm wondering if any of you can help a BESH in need. I'm on the look out for a Clear Blue Fertility Monitor (aka Shag Dictator) to borrow for a little while. I'm hoping someone has one that they'd be willing to lend to me and I promise I'll be very good and look after it and return it when I'm done. After all, it's not like any of you need one at the moment Wink.

I don't want to buy one if I can help it (at least not a full-price one Shock) but am monitoring EBay for bargins.

If anyone thinks they can help out please PM me.

[backs out of room averting eyes and bowing low]

KatAndKit · 09/01/2012 22:13

I have one. I originally promised it to bugs. If she doesn't want it right now you can have it

CaveMum · 09/01/2012 22:50

Kat that's very kind of you [snogs]. I'll double check with bugs and if she is happy I'll PM you.
