\link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=49&threadid=158149&stamp=060324121814\here's one, diddle}
I'll be really pleased if that works!

diddle · 04/04/2006 20:25

mrsbabookaloo - thank you very much.

I'm worried too that i'll be too tired, as i finish work 2 weeks before my due date and i know i'ts going to be harder to work when i'm even bigger and more uncomfortable.

also horrified at the stretchmarks thing, my mom never had them and i have read somewhere that it is hereditory if you ahve them or not, so fingers crossed. I do have them on my boobs, but not on my tummy yet at all. fingers crossed, think i may have to soak in some moisturiser later.

vbab78 · 05/04/2006 13:53

Just received car seat! YIPPEE. I bought it from kiddicare.com. I've been really impressed with their service, I found their online enquiries which is like msn really useful and I was amazed at how quickly the order came.

I had tried it out at mothercare first. It was £99.99 at Mothercare, Kiddicare had it for £84.99 but then pricematched another website so I got it for £78.99!! Grin

Anyway back to more serious mattters ... I've decided to take a few of my holidays in May before finishing as planned on the 19th to make shorter working weeks so I will be getting rest but also money for my left over hols. DH might be getting made redundant Sad around the time baby is due so the money would come in handy if the worst happened.

Thanks for all your help.

DD's chickenpox have now gone so she's back at school. thank goodness! i've been stuck inside the house for 5 days with DP having to do all the shopping.
i've been having painful braxton hicks again. they came and went over a period of 5 hours yesterday and i've had a few today too. they are not very regular so i am sure they're nothing to worry about. DP keeps getting his hopes up though as he really wants it to be the real thing already.
i went to the dentist yesterday and mentioned the bleeding gums, but he said it was normal and that it would go when they baby's born. tomorrow i start seeing the GP one week and midwife the other until the end of the pregnancy.
my boobs have now started leaking too btw.

CarmenH · 05/04/2006 22:41

That sounds like a good idea vbab78. You will probably find it makes it much easier if you are just doing 4 day weeks etc. Ive decided to stop doing my night shifts and wknd days at work but this means will be working Mon-Fri each week so will only be able to get to the shops when they are busy at the wknd.
Moving house tomorrow. Have packed approx 2/3 of stuff. At least no one is moving into our old place tomorrow so have got a little bit of time... Clearly will need it!
Lilacbump my boobs started to leak at 24 weeks when they were being "stimulated" if you see what I meanBlush. Only leak a tiny bit each day. Hope it means that breastfeeding will be easier to initiate.

diddle · 06/04/2006 07:55

CarmenH - have a good move today, i'm sure your pc will be packed up already.

Lilacbump - i would call the midwife about your contractions just in case, i was told if they are painful to go back to the hospital. Its worth checking it out.

vbab - good idea about the shorter weeks, i fancy that myself, but not much chance of it happening. i am so looking forward to stopping work, only 7 wks to go.

I am 31 weeks today!!!! hooray

LilacBump · 06/04/2006 08:40

diddle, i see the GP this morning and will definitely mention i've been getting them. also, i will have a good moan about still feeling very faint. and well done you! 9 weeks to go!

Flum · 06/04/2006 13:08

Hi all long time no post

Hospital bag - needs to be massive.

Don't forget about 1/4 of ladies end up having a c-section so you would have to stay in 2-3 days

made this list after having my last baby

Needs:

nighties x 3
toiletries
make-up
ear plugs
eye mask
mags/books
snacks - crisps & chocolate
nappies - 1 packet
maternity pads (eugh 1 packet at least)
cotton wool
baby vests x 5
sleepsuits x 5
little hat
camera!!!
mobile phone
optional but really nice

  1. my dp went out for champagne and glasses and we had a little party with all our visitors, p'd th nurses off a bit though
  1. Present for midwife
comfy going home outfit for mum and babe

don't take anything valuable - loads of stuff gets nicked.

diddle · 06/04/2006 13:45

cheers flum - great list.

Have just seen the midwife, she said i was right to go and see the hospital about my braxton hicks, just to be safe, its always worht getting checked out. I asked her what exactly they are doing (theBH) I asked if they kept going the way they are then could it come early and she said she wouldn't rule it out.
Baby is a "good size" translated means large!!! Grin but she said at this stage she can't tell how big it will be and wouldn't like to guess. she said she would worry more if it were small, i told her thats because she doesn't have to push it out Smile cheeky me.

Apparently i didn't need bloods at 28 weeks, i will have mine at 34 weeks, i've got a form for them to be done ready.
I won't get a bounty pack, they don't give them out anymore, well i must have just missed the boat because all the other pregnant women i know have had one.

The baby's head is down, shoulders are by my pelvic bones, and the side where she felt the limbs is right where i keep getting punched.
I measure bigger for my weeks, by 3 weeks. think i might be having a baby elephant.

Lilacbump - any news from you???

LilacBump · 06/04/2006 14:06

diddle, the bounty website still mentions the packs etc. would very much surprise me if they stopped doing them! have you signed up for emma's diary and the boots parenting club? you get lots of freebies with those.
the doctor said the faintness is probably my blood pressure as it is a bit low (110/60) and that's normal for this stage of pregnancy. i actually didn't mention the strong braxton hicks, but seeing as the baby is lying across rather than breech or head down, i very much doubt he's on his way soon! baby is also growing well and the heartbeat was nice and fast.

vbab78 · 06/04/2006 15:16

Glad to hear everyone is ok. Smile

I've just got back from my 31 week check up. See the midwife again in 4 weeks!! Everything is going great my bump is exactly the size it should be apparantly. Put on 1kg since appointment 3 weeks ago, 9kg (19.8lbs) total, apparantly it isn't alot but when you think stones and pounds it sounds a lot to me! Blood pressure and blood tests from last time are fine.

Baby still in same position, head down (feels low to me), back curled along my right side, bum up and legs down my left side. So the bump I keep getting on my left is one of baby's feet. Heard heartbeat clear as anything, DH recorded it on his mobile (again).

Really happy. Grin

LilacBump · 06/04/2006 20:16

vbab & diddle, glad to hear your bumps are doing well too! :)

btw, has anyone noticed the baby hiccupping? i also sometimes can see my bump go up and down like it's breathing, which i find very odd!

abbey1515 · 06/04/2006 21:58

Hi everyone
Lilacbump, my little one is getting hiccups about twice a day, and you can see them really clearly. She had them when I was taken in to hospital and hooked up to the belt monitor and you could see them on the tracer!
31weeks today!!!
How's everyone doing with names? Have decided on Felicity, but struggling with middle name...

ladyschaefer · 07/04/2006 09:01

We've decided on Amelia Rose for a girl and Caleb for a boy, no middle name as yet though as ive struggled with boys names this time.Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved :)

Baby is doing well, was told it was head down, just hope it stays that way. Got a growth scan coming up soon because although im measuring spot on for my dates the MW is concerned that baby still has a lot of room to move around in there.

My DD was only 6lb 1oz born but im sure this one is bigger.

Glad to see everyone is doing well :)

diddle · 07/04/2006 09:11

congrats abbey on your 31 weeks, doesn't it feel like the baby coming is just round the corner? does for me.

we've got Ruby Mia for a girl and Joshua for a boy. no doubt we will change our mind again before it comes. we'll see.

Bugs · 07/04/2006 09:54

Hi all
Sorry i've not been on for so long it's took me ages to catch up on the tread!! Have had a nightmare few weeks have been in & out of hospital every few days for about 3 weeks now. Basically my kidneys are having trouble coping so getting alot of protien into me wee which is normally a marker for pre-emclamp. bump is also measuring small but jelly bean is measuring fine.
Have had to have the 2 steriod injections this week to mature j.bs lungs as they are concerned i will have to deliver early so i'm well gutted. I've had a real ticking off from midwive/hubby/mother well just about everyone about i need to take it easy - if i take it any easier i'll be a coma aaaagghhh So will now have two weeks of house arrest with 4 yr old dd on school holidays - SOMEBODY SAVE ME

It's good to see everybody else is doing ok - we're nearly in the home strech now. Grin
Love
d
P.s sorry for the moan

diddle · 10/04/2006 08:28

hello everyone, where have you all vanished to?

Had parentcraft all day saturday, was very good, long day and my back ached a lot, but it was very good, i enjoyed it, and it made it all feel so much more real.

Have been feeling a bit rough since Friday, very emotional and wooshy. feel a bit better this morning, think i need to slow down a bit because until now i have carried on as normal, working, housework etc, but its sapping at my energy a lot more now.

mrsbabookaloo · 10/04/2006 10:36

Hi Diddle, I'm 32 weeks now and when I say I'm due in two months it seems like a long time, but when I say 8 weeks, it seems scarily close!
I had a very emotional day yesterday too: just exhausted and tearful all day, but I reckon that's just normal, and I just didn't do much. I love the name Ruby: the only reason we haven't chosen it is because a friend of mine got there first!

vbab78 · 10/04/2006 12:26

Hello mrsbabookaloo and diddle. I'm 32 weeks in a couple of days. It doesn't seem long at all when you say 8 weeks! ShockSmile

I've been getting more tired but I'm in the same position as everyone else ... working and doing all same house work chores whilst carrying bump around. No wonder we women are tired! Super women that's what we are.

For the last few days I have been suffering for stiffness and soreness on my left hand side (inside Blush). Weird feeling. Finding I can't move my left side as well as before. I got all paranoid and packed the hospital bags and put out piles of stuff for DH to fetch when visiting. I don't know about you but I keep thinking baby could come anytime from now.

I had a bad day of depression last week, couldn't snap myself out of it. Bloody hormones!

Had to go with DH to doctors first thing this morning because he told me he has been suffering from bad headaches for a couple of weeks! Doctor thinks it might be stress. Unfortunately my DH might be losing his job at the end of this month. The second time in a year he will have been made redundant! Sad

diddle · 10/04/2006 13:49

vbab - as if you don't have anything else to worry about, what will DH do if he loses his job again, does he have somewhere else to go?
I definityl feel like you, that it could come at any time. i've packed babie's bag and mine is almost done, apart froms tuff i'm still using, like make-up and hairbrush etc.

Must get some sort of pile ready for DH too.

at least if we're this organised now, i won't feel like i'm pushing the labour further away by doing it last minute. If i was packing the week before my date i would jinx myself that baby would be late just because i was ready.

8 weeks isn't long.

can't believe how different i feel this week to last week, i'm knackered, and i've hardly done a thing.

bumpinsheffield · 10/04/2006 15:20

Hi all, been a long time between posts, DS on Easter hols so not much time to turn on pc.

CarmenH - hope your move went ok.

Vbab - sorry to hear about your DH, any news on that front?

I've been reading the threads on what to pack in a hospital bag. I'm having a planned c-section as its my third and had emergency c-sections both other times. I have no idea what this means as to my length of stay, will I be called in same day as planned op or will it be night before? Does anyone have any experience with this or tips of other things that might be useful to pack?

diddle · 10/04/2006 15:34

bumpinsheffield - i have a friend who went in for a planned c-section, at our hospital she went in on the day early morning (8am), and had it done at about 10am. She was in for 3 days, my hospital prefers that to be the minimum stay for a c-section although if needs be she would have stayed longer.
I shouldn't think you'll need anything different to someone who has an unplanned labour, other than more of eveyrthing, more clothes, baby outfits, nappies etc.

vbab78 · 10/04/2006 16:02

Hello and thanks everyone for the support. Smile

DH hasn't got another job to go to, he has been looking but there hasn't been anything around. He is an IT Trainer. If the worst did happen and he didn't have another job fingers crossed we should be ok because we have been saving like mad so I can have 8-12 months off. Just might mean that my maternity leave would end up shorter. He has said he will do whatever job it takes to make sure things are ok.

I'm getting worried ... people have started telling me that my bump has dropped! I thought it had a little but not as much as people are saying.

Has anyone else had that soreness and stiffness I mentioned, inside?

mrsbabookaloo · 10/04/2006 16:18

\link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=49&threadid=163034&stamp=060410161104\ here's another good thread on what to take, what not to take in labour bag}

diddle · 11/04/2006 08:39

vbab - i've had soreness inside, makes it feel really sensitive, but not really stiffness, well not worse than i had expected it to be.
Glad your DH has got the right idea, any job will do as long as it pays enough. can't undertsand people who wait for the right job to come and get themselves into debt, when they could go and work at B&Q or somewhere while they look.
I feel like my bump has dropped too, i think you and me are due within a day of each other, i'm due the 8th. Baby's head is definitly lower and pressing on my pelvis a bit more, not very comfortable, desperatly trying not to waddle everywhere Grin

I'm getting very annoyed with my clothes, i'm sure they're shrinking Smile and i don't feel attractive anymore, just like a big blob!
