where is everyone????

what are you all doing?

Sarahsbump, must be so nice to have finished work now, i've got 5 weeks to go, today. can't wait to stop, getting very tired now.

blobsmummy · 21/04/2006 10:32

I've got 4 days of work next week, 4 days the week after and then I'm finished - HURRAY! Finding it a real struggle. And by the time you factor in that I've got another scan, a midwife appt and a meeting with the dietician, it's probably more like 7 days.

Has anyone else's baby gone doo-lally? I thought that they were meant to start slowing down a littel bit coz they've run out of room - mine has just upped the tempo and is grooving like there's no tomorrow! Smile

diddle · 21/04/2006 10:49

blobsmummy, our baby is very active today too. was kicking me repeatedly in the side this morning very early, i love feeling it though. and its been wriggling about all the time since. Probably making up for a slow day yesterday.

vbab78 · 21/04/2006 10:55

blobsmummy - my baby has gone a little mad too Grin. Just when I think he/she must be running out of space my whole belly moves or stretches! I keep getting what I think are knees and feet that move across one side of my bump of sticking out.

I finish work 4 weeks today, but I've put in a few hols so I've only got 15 days of work left. YIPPEE! 4 Day Week, 4 Day Week, 3 Day week then 4 Day week the week I finish Grin.

Then the countdown begins of just over 2 weeks to due date. WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE!

slinkstah · 21/04/2006 14:46

lilacbump- love the name you have chosen. its similar to one of the names i have chosen but am still choosing and shortlisting 1st and 2nd so will not reveal just yet:)

i just got a date for removal of my cervical stitch i will be 36+6 and the consultant says its unlikely i will go into labour straight away because of the scar tissue that has formed which is harder to dialate, i totally thought i would just pop right open lol

blobsmummy- yes my baby is being far more active than usual recently too!
baby has turned to breech he has been head down for 7 weeks and he chooses now to turn around! anyway its feels very weird and different having a head underneath my ribs instead of a small squishy bum.

vbab78 · 21/04/2006 15:57

Anyone know of any good non alcoholic wines (medium to dry) or beers?

diddle · 24/04/2006 08:09

sorry vbab - i have only tried gross non alcoholic wine, have taken to drinking appletiser in wine glasses to trick myself into thinking i'm having a nice sweet wine.
when you put your weeks like that it sounds so close, and i'm sure you and me are due the same day (8th June) or close together.
I'm stopping work the 26th May, can't believe this time next week it will be May, then our babies are due "next month", but could easily come before that. scary stuff.

Tried our car seat in DH's car yesterday and it doesn't fit!!!!!! we have the new mamas and papas one and his seatbelt won't go round ti wiht or without the base, very odd as the seat with base fits in mine no problem. But I really like the car seat and it matches the travel system, so we're keeping it and DH is getting a new one that fits his car. Can't believe it didn't fit.

Slink - fancy baby being so awkward and turning to breach, i think you have a few weeks yet until it really needs to be head down. but you're more of an expert than me.

vbab78 · 24/04/2006 08:41

diddle - I ended up having appletizer. I'm due 6/6/6 so only 2 days between us Grin. I keep thinking it could happen anytime too but the further I get along the more comfy baby seems to get and I think he/she likes making me wince and yelp when they move, so I think baby is too busy having fun.

WORK will be over before we know it. YIPPEE. DH should know by the end of this week whether he has still got a job or not Sad.

Bad luck about the car seat. I got Mothercare to try the one I bought in my car (maxi cosi cabrio recommended on mumsnet), apparently it fits in the front but the seat belt doesn't quiet go around when in the back. I need to try it myself because my niece's car seat which seemed bigger fitted fine. Then I found out they didn't have it in stock and bought it from a website for over £20 cheaper.

Hello all,

Sorry haven't popped in for a while... been up to my eyes in preparing to move house. Am moving this friday and everywhere is a sea of boxes!

Have also been a bit worried re baby as when I was in hospital few weeks ago (?amniotic fluid gone...hadn;t...phew!) they told me my baby was small for dates and umbilical cord wasn;t giving enough O2 to baby.

Anyways, saw consultant last week and he isn;t too worried, but am having another (5th) scan in 2 weeks time just to be sure. Baby is also breech, but am hoping he will turn.

Glad to read I am not the only hormonal sobbing disaster! My daughter (15) went away for 10 days with a friend's family to Spain and I was in tears on my sofa every night, convinced something dreadful was going to happen to her, and hugging cushions like a real saddo ! She is home now, but now I am crying over birth programmes on Sky TV! Blush

Have loads of painting to do in new home this week before the move and only my mum/daughter to help me. Can't even flutter eyelashes at hunky men friends to get them to chip in as I now resemble big blob in big jogging pants. Shock

You lot make me laugh with your sex deprivation talk! I have had sex once in the last 18 months...and the baby is the result! Grin
And you think you're deprived !!!

Anyway, enough ramble.. am off to try and shoehorn myself into my trousers for another day of B&Q bliss Smile

Have a good one

x

Thank you morethan1 ... I think I will give the morrisons Bavarian Alcohol free a try.

vbab78 · 25/04/2006 12:57

34 weeks today! Grin

Is anyone else getting hungry beyond belief, even after just having something to eat? OR Is it just me being greedy Wink!

blobsmummy · 25/04/2006 15:39

No vbab - I'm also eating like it's going out of fashion. I know full well that I'll pay for it with heartburn soon after, but it makes no difference - give me food!!

Just been for my 5th scan today to check on size of baby - everything looks fine so far (weighing about 4lb 8oz at 33 weeks) but as it's slowing down a bit, have been booked in for yet another scan in two weeks time.

As you can see, I'm obviously just trying to go for a place in the Guiness Book of Records for the number of scans in a pregnancy! Still, it's nice to know that both of us are being looked after.

mrsbabookaloo · 25/04/2006 17:19

Hi all.
Jen1209 - thanks for your good wishes and congrats on your good news. Good luck.

Another person who was on our thread and is still due in June is Emkana: she's been having a terrible time of uncertainty and frightening test results. I really feel for her. She posts on the pregnancy thread.

blobsmummy - me too, baby very active when I thought she was supposed to be getting too big. Lots of different kinds of movements. Sometimes this is fun, but sometimes it's a bit like she's rummaging around or cleaning in there, or grabbing at my organs!

vbab - I'm starving these days. So hungry I have to eat all morning or I feel like I did when I had morning sickness, and last night I actually burst into tears because I was hungry and couldn't find anything to eat Blush!!!

trinity1 · 25/04/2006 18:16

Hi all, hope everyone is ok. Blobsmummy: know what you mean about the scans. Have just had my 5th one too! Have a very over-anxious midwife.

For weeks she's been saying that the bump appeared very small, making myself and DP frantic that there was something wrong. She made us go to the hospital last Friday for the 5th scan where it showed that the measurements were fine and that DD was 5lb 4oz already - if we go to term they think she could over 9lb.Shock Am quite small myself so am now currently bricking it when it comes to the prospect of labour!

Any reassurance would be so much appreciated as now due date is only 6 weeks away and with DP working abroad at least 4 days every week right up to due date am feeling very vulnerable. xxx

diddle · 25/04/2006 20:26

well what an eventful day! Have been having contractions every 5 mins since last night, not painful just annoying, uncomfortable tightenings. thought nothing of it, apart from a little concerned that they were so regular. so i called the hosp this afternoon, thinking they'd say "monitor it for a few hours" or " its braxton hicks" but no, they said you really should come in now!, bring your notes and your bags. So off i went DH was 2 hours away so he jumped in the car and zoomed down the M6.
I got to hospital, was plugged into a monitor, did the usual checks, contractions were coming regularly every 5 mins. Baby was not distressed and i was told i was far too calm to be in labour. did an internal, cervix closed, not dilating. So after 2 hours i was sent home with mild contractions, doctor said it was braxton hicks, but to keep an eye on it and carry on as normal.
What a nightmare. Hope we don't have 6 wks of this, although i am very pleased that baby is staying put for now.

phew worn out now.

Hope everyone else has had a much easier day

LilacBump · 25/04/2006 20:28

hi girls
i saw the midwife today. got the anti-d again. baby is growing well and is breech. midwife isn't worried though and she says he's got time until 37 weeks to turn (which OMG is only 3 weeks away!). i had lots of glucose in my sample, so i have been told to cut down on sugar and she is getting it tested just in case. my blood pressure has gone up quite a bit too. and... i need iron tablets!
i also found out my midwife is doing ante-natal classes from next week. it's only 3 weeks, but i am going to go along as i might meet some nice people and learn a thing or two that i didn't know yet! :)

blobsmummy · 26/04/2006 13:30

Trinity1 - ouch! 9lb! I can understand why you're feeling vulnerable. I freaked when DH told me he was going on a night hike this weekend (what a stupid thing to do!), but at least he's in the same county as me. I'm not sure what reassurance to give, but stay in touch.

Diddle - yesterday sounded very eventful! Glad everything's OK.

Has anyone packed their hospital bag yet? I'm getting the impression from people I meet that I should have done it by now, so I'll probably do it at the weekend. I know it sounds daft, but if I pack the bag, then it sort of means that I'm going to have to give birth, whereas at the mo I'm still in a state of denial (despite having decorated the nursery, feeling/looking/ like a beached whale, carrying an octopus for a baby and being soooooo tired).

Help - my computer has a life of it's own Blush

  • sorry for the multiple postings!
diddle · 26/04/2006 14:15

blobsmummy - all bags are packed at my house, i'm ready to go, as long as baby doesn't come now. I'm a childminder and still working and if the baby comes now i will struggle to find all the parents numbers, they're in a safe place somewhere. But my pregnant brain can't remember where. going to have to do a new list right now.

vbab78 · 26/04/2006 14:40

Trinity1 - 9lb's wow. I understand your concern, I'm quite small myself but my DH is not so I'm expecting baby to not be on the small side. Your baby girl is obviously very healthy and she has her mummy to thank for that. Smile.

At my last midwife appointment (31 weeks I think) I asked if she could estimate by feeling the baby and so on an idea of weight just out of curiosity. She responded with "why would you want to know that and scare yourself". I didn't know what I think to her response.

Diddle - Are you trying to queue jump and get your baby before I get mine! Grin It would have scared me a little but I would have probably put on a brave face for DH's sake. I believe my DH would have panicked with how he has been acting at late. Every twinge I get and he's "is this it, you would let me know". My response was of course sarcastic.

All my bags are packed and I am now as ready as I think I ever could be.
