Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
maman2006 · 03/01/2006 16:11

Hi all !
This is my first day of Maternity leave, even so I have been on holidays since Christmas, today feels different as DH is back to work. I am trying to keep myself busy until baby arrives.
Have been slightly emotional yesterday morning as I woke up with a contracted bump and started taking my "last week" homeopatic medecines. Therefore, realised this could be the last week of pregnancy and started worrying about what I would have to go through very soon (labour).
I am not in a hurry to be there ... but meanwhile, I am thinking the earlier might be the best so that I don't have time to get worried ... and the baby that has to go through is slightly smaller (loads of thinking !)

How about you, do you feel relaxed about labour?
I am hoping for a waterbirth, so I am trying to convince myself that I will manage to relax as I like being in water a lot. Everything is fine, Everything will be fine, Everything will be fine, Everything will be fine, Everything will be fine, Everything will be fine, Everything will be fine, ...

hunkermunker - I had some comments at my last appointment about my bump being slightly small as well but was told there was nothing to worry yet. I have an other appointment tomorrow, we'll see how it goes. What I understood from last time is that you are more or less supposed to measure 36 at 36 weeks, 37 at 37 weeks and so one? Is this your understanding?

Everything will be fine, Everything will be fine, Everything will be fine, Everything will be fine, Everything will be fine, Everything will be fine, ...

Well I had some lovely pains this afternoon. Stabbing pains down and around my groin and stomach cramps lasted about 30 mins, wasn't going to get excited but your brain starts thinking "right wheres DP and SIL today" "what else do I need in my bag etc" of course I had a lie down and everything stopped. Think it's all muscular as I was moving a lot prior to them.

I'm up for a mass birth on the 6th Jan too, DP has promised me a curry some pineapple and some of the other

Had a little nap this afternoon DD is still napping now.

Must remember and buy some Arnica as well.

Hi to all on here and very best of luck with your ever more imminently arriving bundles.
Some of you (rachey and Nemo's names stuck with me) may remember me from this board way back in April/May. Sadly I had an early m/c. I'm now about 14 weeks pregnant and on the due in july thread
Just wanted to pop on here and wish you all well!

iris66 · 03/01/2006 17:15

Hunkermunker - congrats on Lo's growth & no induction! - bet you're so relieved. I had the whole monitoring argument last time. At the mo they've said I only need 1/2 hour on arrival rather than the continuous that had been suggested previously & got the consultant to actually write "can use the pool" on my notes just in case I get a jobsworth MW

Rachey - next weeeek!!!! wahey - the Yahoo site's going to be awash with gorgeous pix of our little darlings before we know it.
We could imagine ourselves as a bouquet of flowering cervixes lol (or are they cervices... chortle chortle)

Mrs D - next month will be next week in a flash & you'll be going eek too!

Sweetkitty - at your cramps (but fab if they turn into something more productive later!!) My BH's seemed to have eased off for the mo (thankfully) but I had a bout of chronic nesting earlier which left me feeling decidedly "squishy" with vague stabbing pains in the cervical region IYKWIM. Seems to have gone away now but I'm ever hopeful.

Maman - make the most of your mat leave & rest! What homeopathic remedies are you taking btw? We've been chatting about them on & off for ages. I bought DH a labour set so he can act as my official prescriber. He's been studying hard too (bless) and is rapidly losing his cynicism about them (always handy to have some belief in what you're doing eh!!)

Best go & get some grub on - chow 4 now

iris66 · 03/01/2006 17:18

Spub - thanks for your kind thoughts and so pleased for you. All the very best for your sunshine delivery in July!!

lyra41 · 03/01/2006 17:29

spub

great to hear from you, and so glad to hear you're expecting again. hope it all goes well. x x

ei23 · 03/01/2006 17:31

evening ladies!! im just gatecrashin from the dec thread to wish everyone due soon good luck!! im still waiting mind!! 40+6 today but not too long to wait hopefully!! got a m/w appt on thursday which im gonna demand a sweep or somethin!! iv tried all the usual ways to brig this stubborn lil one out but to no avail unfortunately!! ah well just waitin round now!!

Rach69 · 03/01/2006 18:23

Everything will be fine!

Spub - fantastic news! How lovely

Ei23 - look on the bright side, you will definitely have a babe in your arms before most of us!!!

Ok, here's the plan - Thursday night - curry and pineapple followed by a clary sage ankle massage and a spot of shiminey hoo - we will make the earth (all 4 corners of it) move!

Oh and to the woman in the surgery this afternoon (to whom I have chatted before) who said 'oh yeah, you have about 5 other kids don't you...?!' yeah, 5 or 6, I've lost count now!

Rach69 · 03/01/2006 18:33

Oh and is everyone sorted with arrangements for their other kids? I have so many contingency plans I don't know whether I'm coming or going!

Senarios:

Go into labour when ex-d has kids already - a misty fantasy... (otherwise he works over an hour away, sometimes away overnight - new gf, not interested in my having someone else's baby not surprisingly)

Go into labour in daytime - ex-mil has kids at her house (good option - familiar surroundings, v close, friends can help with school/clubs)

Go into labour in nightime - dp mum comes over and stays with kids on sofa (nightmare more like = muchos fussing, she'll probably clean the house and find all the dirt I put under the sofa... ring the hospital every 5 mins etc, also will find OTT welcoming committee)

Be induced - my mum to come to my house in pre-arranged, non-panicky fashion - she lives 4 hrs away (lots of cups of tea, no fussing)

Wish I could have had a home birth!

Mum2OneAndBump · 03/01/2006 18:33

Hi all nice to see people are getting twinges & pains but we want the full works now??

Hunker - I really hope something comes of your sweep never had one myself but what you have been told sounds quite promising!

Sweetkitty - Oooh how exciting sounds like you don't have long to go now, next time you have pains don't sit down & rest keep walking, gravity is good.

Well i could not sleep last night fell asleep about 12.30am then i woke up at 3.30am with stomach pains & also my belly was rumbling & making very very strange noises, i was lieing awake till 8.30am i just could not get back to sleep or get comfortable seriously thought something was happening because of all the pains but must have been BH. Eventually got to sleep & woke at 10.30am.

I seem to be having loose bowels but thats about it, i have pains in my back tonight but i think i strained it whilst hoovering the car today

I seem to be nesting & am loving hoovering at the moment, packed all xas decs away today, went to homebase & brought new plants for the lounge, bleached bathroom, toilet and kitchen & everything is sparkling and clean now, i would not rest until i had done it

Anyway goodluck to all will be waiting to hear all about everyones labours, borths & gorgeous new babys.

Goodluck Jaysfirst i am sure you are well on your way now will be waiting for the announcement.

Oh before i go, can i look at the yahoo pics? i dont know the password etc??

Take Care & lets get these babys out now xx

hunkermunker · 03/01/2006 19:39

Maman, hope you have a bit of maternity leave before the baby comes, but not too much! I was 41+3 with DS and went on mat leave 5 weeks before my due date, so I had ages to wait (but am sure that you will be sooner - sorry, not very encouraging, am I?!).

My bump measured 34 weeks, but think that's to do with the head being engaged - I'm 38+3.

SK, I have been having those delightful stabbing pains through my cervix and had my first properly painful BH about half an hour ago. Nothing since though, except baby feels quite low down!

Spub, I remember you and am so happy you're posting on another antenatal thread! Thanks for your post - congratulations to you!

Iris, I'm fantastically relieved about not being induced - hadn't realised quite how much I didn't want it to happen till I was told it was a probability!

ei23, really hope you have your baby very, very soon! Good luck!

Rachey, PMSL at shiminey hoo Think that's on the cards for us before the week's out too DS going to MIL's whatever time of the day or night, but still worrying about that - you must be hoping you go into labour during the day!

M21AB, that nesting frenzy sounds familiar Hope it means you're imminent!

iris66 · 03/01/2006 19:40

Rachey - PMSL over your shiminey hoo! Love the plan for Thurs btw - don't forget the visualisations of floral fannies too lol!!! Are we all going to have a go?
Just told DH & was met with a humph & an eye roll a la Victor Meldrew lol! - he will enjoy it (note to self - must get some clary sage & pineapple!!)

Mun2One - Chuffed's post of 3 Jan 8.46 has a link to the Yahoo site - you just sign in (hope you're going to post some piccies too!!)Am with you on the loose bowels - my body seems to be on "let's keep the highways clear" mode at the mo! Better that than piles I suppose! lol

oooh I'm in such a jolly mood tonight. Finally got the baby's room sorted (even put the mobile on the cot) and test drove my rocking chair/feeding station (DD reckons it makes it sound like a cow stall - cheek!)The pool's all set up ready for my first few hours of wallowing in the dining room so I'm definately at the "bring it on, baby" stage and I'm even enjoying the mounting excitement (where did that frustration go?)

sweetkitty · 03/01/2006 21:02

I'm going for the full curry/clary sage/pineapple/sex routine on Saturday or maybe sooner. We are so impatient aren't we? I've got to get this baby out I'm in agony!

ei23 - welcome to the thread please gatecrash as often as you like I suppose the Dec thread is a bit quiet now. Hope you see something happening soon.

Spub - thats great news your expecting again, I had a July baby last time (though she was due in Aug)

M2OAB - don't think I'm anywhere near ready been getting these twinges for ages, this one is a nightmare like her father I think! He's a real one for winding me up too.

Rach - if I get to Saturday I get to have my homebirth officially, SIL is designated carer for DD she is on standby but is an hour away and looking at the Are second labours faster thread? I was a bit terrified she won't get here in time. But at least DD will be here and if need be DP can look after her for a bit. I am scared I go into full blown labour whilst I'm alone with her.

hotmama · 03/01/2006 21:46

Just wanted to say good luck to all you ladies - looking forward to the posts next week re all the births on the 6th!

I started off on this thread at the beginning but post on the Feb thread as my date officially is the 1st Feb and dd1 was 9 days late - so am more likely to be on the Feb post-natal thread. However, I hope to be on the Jan post-natal thread - GP says subsequent births are often early - will see.

Oh you lot are getting me all excited - can't wait for all your happy postings.

Mum2OneAndBump · 03/01/2006 21:52

Just a quickie does anyone know the sign in info for the yahoo as it asks me to sign in? I will add some pics once i get back on my pc can not do it on the laptop

Chuffed · 03/01/2006 22:16

M2OAB you just have to register with a yahoo mail address then sign in as yourself and 'join the group. Took me a while to work it out.
Good lick to all those that are close...

Mum2OneAndBump · 03/01/2006 22:26

Thanks chuffed off to see if my idle brain can manage just that......

Will let you know

maman2006 · 03/01/2006 22:30

About pain, labour, homeopathy and other pain relief

iris66 - My mum got a prescription for me from France and came for Christmas with the medecines. Here are the stuffs I am taking (warning, for those of you not used to homeopathy, these names might sounds rather scary, but I think there is nothing illegal in all this):

Actaea Racemosa
Phosphorus
China Rubra
Caulophyllum Thalictroides
Gelsemium Sempervirens
Arnica Montana
Ignatia Amara (if anxious)

The only thing I know is about Arnica, that is supposed to help with pain (pain relief). The others, I have no idea. If anyone here has a clue, I would be interested to know !
I didn't take the last one (Ignatia Amara - if anxious) until Monday, when I started realising that I would very soon have to go through a rather not very pleasant experience (Am I the only one not looking forward to it in this thread?)
I am not too sure whether I really believe in homeopathy but I am happy to try it in case it could help (as I know it won't do any harm).
I have heard lots of good about acupuncture, but haven't tried it, as I don't know any acupuncturist here.
In addition, I have started since 01/01 Raspberry Leafs tea.
And I am planning for water birth and strongly believe this will be the one thing that will make it easier for me.

If anyone has advices for labour to be less painful, don't hesitate to share !

Mum2OneAndBump · 03/01/2006 22:32

Ok new i would be back to ask for more help....

I have signed up now, so how do i iew all your pics??

QueenVictoria · 03/01/2006 22:48

Hi!

Just sticking my nose in - im not pg i was just checking in to see how hunker was doing as i havent seen her about much today.

I see you've had a sweep - when i had mine it was done on a Friday and i went into labour on the Tuesday (had on off contractions the day before though).

Fingers crossed for you - DD was overdue but DS was early. I have a feeling you wont make it till the end of the week

maman2006 · 03/01/2006 22:52

Hey Mum2OneAndBump, I am trying to get to see the pics in yahoo as well, but get an error message ... let me know if you manage.

FlossNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 03/01/2006 22:53

Me too Hunker! Thinking of you - keep being not sure whether to check up on you here or on that blessed birth announcements board! Good luck to everyone else too.

QueenVictoria · 03/01/2006 22:57

(hey floss!)

And yes, good luck to the rest of you too

sweetkitty · 03/01/2006 22:58

Hunker - you are NOT having your baby before me!!! Chuffed was due 2 days after me and has already beaten me to it. Am am in bloody agony need to get this baby out of here.

Maman2006 - no I'm really not looking forward to the birth but am so sore with SPD/SI pain and all the usual aches/pains/feeling huge am desperate to get it all over and done with. Yes it's horrendous and the sorest thing you will ever experience but afterwards it is the best feeling in the world ever and nothing will top it. It's well, well worth it. No one can describe the feelings you will have until you experience them yourself and how much you will love your baby, I'm going now before I start crying bloody hormones!
