BBWBabeLisa · 04/01/2006 22:21

Hi Eshay, I'd definitely be up for a local mini-meet! We're in Farnborough all the time.
Thanks for sorting out the update thingy SweetKitty.

Lis & LolaBump x

BBWBabeLisa · 04/01/2006 23:04

Have posted a couple of piccies oin the yahoo site. One of me & DH and some of Lola's scan piccies.

LOOMER · 04/01/2006 23:13

Hey hey, quite obviously we all have far too much internet time on our hands! Well, those of us who can get close to the computer anyhow (know the feeling Tickle, DH has been doing his tax return over past couple of days!)...

Welcome Lis, gosh it sounds like you've had such a time of it - here's hoping the birth is less complicated. Oh, and my Lollipop rep. highly recommended the OneLife nappies to me - they are apparently exactly the same as Motherease ones, which are very popular and have very good re-sale value. I managed to get a load of second-hand Motherease ones from a cousin, but am topping them up with OneLifes. Sounds like you are the queen of Ebay bargains!

I also had a good hour of regular strong BHs this evening, but seems to have calmed down again now. I'm very interested in the no-contractions-until-6cm-dilated method SK - sounds perfect!

Rachey - know what you mean about the excitement building. It's so nice that everyone's anticipating together! I'm absolutely positive that at least one of us is going to start things off tomorrow...

...just had an email from the couple that we did our hypnobirthing classes with (due 2 days before me) - with pics of their new baby daughter! It's SO UNFAIR!! Mother and baby both look radiant. I can't wait to find out if she used any of the hypno techniques during labour.

Right, off to bed now with 'The Time Traveller's Wife' (not literally of course, but perhaps Literaturely... chortle!). What a great read - anyone else found it un-put-down-able?

JenJam · 05/01/2006 00:29

thought i'd pop back to see if mak had hotfooted to hosp, whether they were bh or the real thing

Loomer i noticed from the jan list that you doing hypnobirthing. that's what i did! you know what i think it worked. i'm a first time mum and was pooing my pants before the birth. the midwives every time they discussed my progress, kept saying i was 'very deceptive', that i didn't look like i was in proper labour. i began to get quite annoyed that noone was taking me seriously (especially as they wouldn't let me go home because i'd had a fresh bleed). anyway i had a long labour, but no pain relief only tens and water (water slowed everything down, almost ground to a halt so i birthed out of the water in the end)

Only now 8 weeks after the event is it starting to sink in that i actually made my baby, and he passed out of my lady parts! just completely stunned for at least four weeks after and of course crazy in love with my baby boy. i am impressed that my body is so bloody clever.
and i want another already (!)

hope you don't mind me gatecrashing - i look back on the last couple of weeks of waiting for my due date with rosy tinted glasses

promise i won't butt in anymore. night night. and good luck

lyra41 · 05/01/2006 08:14

morning

no action here overnite. i'm just getting that resigned feeling that everyone will have their babies before me and i'll stay pg forever!

i've got another nct meet up today, where my 5 friends will have their 5 lovely babies, and i'll have my lump of a belly still....

wonder how mak is doing?

can't wait to sleep properley again, hope this baby is a good sleeper. ds1 was, once he'd settled into a routine, and dd was reasonable. she did wake for feeding in the nite, but went straight back to sleep, so wasn't too tiring.

JenJam

don't worry about crashing our thread, it's always good to hear from new people, especially when they're a bit further on. you can advise us!

Tickle
I've never had the pessary, but doesn't it go up your hoo hoo, rather than anywhere else? or maybe it goes where the sun don't shine? i dunno.
speaking of hoo hoo's, we've not heard from Georgie in a while have we. ooooh, maybe a good sign, i'll go and check the birth announcements now, just in case.

lyra41 · 05/01/2006 08:21

Lisa
just popped over to look at your photos on the yahoo site, lovely one of you! You really are a babe!

Mak · 05/01/2006 09:00

Hi ladies
Still here, BH's getting stronger and I think little lady has turned the right way round - at last. Bump also seems to have dropped more. One of DH's colleagues went on like this for 5 days though, so I expect it's just my body preparing, slowly.
Jenjam - it's amazing isn't it, I was the same - I wanted another straight away, then I thought about all the practicalities.
TICKLE - sounds lovely that your mum is going to be there longer, my mum lives abroad but is here till the end of Jan, so she's just at the end of the phone when things do kick off.
Lis - lovely photos.

iris66 · 05/01/2006 09:43

morning all
Got bad BHs and a case of the grumps last night but nothing more Not going to bother with encouraging it (after tonight) until next week. I just hope it doesn't all happen Fri night/Sat morning as DD is going away to Buxton in Lancs on Sat for a w/e of adventure training & camping in the snow. She doesn't really want to go anyway but has to do it to satisfy the insurance for her charity trip to Vietnam in the summer.I know she'll be in bits if anything happened whilst she was there (and even more so if I'm in labour when she leaves It doesn't bear thinking about so tonight is going to be my one shot.

Mak - so pleased LO's turned at last!!

Fab photos Lisa!! I'm only an hour away from Aldershot (suspect Loomer is closer still) reckon we could easily organise a meet up at some point!

JenJam - thanks for posting. I'm doing hypnobirthing too so it's good to hear your experiences - must be a right trip down "rapidly fading memory lane" for you coming on this thread

Loomer - The Time Traveller's Wife is great isn't it - so different! I cried loads.

Good to hear about the OneLife nappies as we'd decided on motherease - I'll know what else I can look out for now!

Lyra - Georgie's pc arrives today (have been in contact by text) so she should be back on line tonight.

Off for reflexology and pineapple hunting today.

Morning all! Not a good night here, up in agony from 4am with the trapped nerve in my ankle, felt like a real baby and kept thinking if this was labour I'd be crying! Slept a bit more on the sofa but feel like poo now.

Lyra - don't worry, I don't even expect to go into labour at the mo (if at all) - perhaps I'm preventing it because every night I feel too tired to get through a labour and then feel too tired in the morning too!

I know the oral prostaglandin makes no sense (I thought it was a wind up) but honestly it is true! Now if they could make it also a cure for heartburn I might get enthusiastic! They used to give oral meds but presumably local (cervical - Tickle!!!) are more effective. It's the voltarol suppositories that go up your bum (painkillers for after) and lovely they are too! Oh, the indignities....

Mak - I'm gettting the BH too but they're not long or strong enough to worry me (hopefully they are softening a bit) the real thing doesn't just take your breath away but actually stops you walking or talking through it, they kind of double you up?

Lisa - welcome! sorry you've had such a rough time - your photos are fab! Don't worry too much a bout the induction - there are as many stories as there are for spontaneous deliveries. I have had a bad one (not ready - took 3 days) and a good one (unzipped to 5cm in less than an hour) so be positive and keep an open mind especially about pain relief - sounds like they would want to monitor you so have an epi!

Tickle · 05/01/2006 10:28

OK - getting ready here - purchased my pineapple this morning!! They are as rare as purple pigs here, so I reckon the local supermarket staff must have seen me and ordered in specially

Rach & Lyra - never had induction type things, but any pessaries coming near me when Clemmie was born were where the sun doesn't shine! They're big on them here in DK - and also use them for calpol type stuff for babies - don't fancy that idea much

Fab new photos Lis & Eshay
Iris really hope you can get going before dd goes away - or else cross those legs til Monday! Her charity trip sounds great - is it through a big organisation?

Taking Christmas decs down today - first day with all kids back at school/nursery/childminder - what peace! dh has been on the comp all morning, but now it's my turn to try & work out how to get a video of microscopic pond life to play on our intranet. Life is never boring

Maman - sorry can't offer much help, as haven't had errors, but maybe check that yahoo is a trusted site in your internet security... it may be that your computer thinks it is suspicious.

Think Georgie gets her PC back today?

see you!

Little funny story on pessaries, after DD's birth, the placenta fiasco and then the repair job fiasco it was about 3 hours after she was born and the MW said "I'll just go get you some painkillers!" great I thought finally! So I'm lying there very bruised and sore and said to DP "Can you get me some water for my painkillers?" erm didn't need the water as they weren't for my mouth. I've never had anything erm anally before so it was a bit of a shock!

So we have been out and about this morning. DP has banned me from driving but I needed to get out. This was my shopping list:

Clary Sage oil and massage oil (woman in H&B gave me a stern talking to and wouldn't recommend it)
Arnica
Huggies nappies (and got free changing bag
Free Avent starter kit
Baby sponge (for DD1 though)
Fresh pineapple (could only get already prepared there were no whole pineapples in local supermarket )

Have had a nightmare morning though, am going to start another thread on it in a minute. Very bad Mummy moment!

No action here overnight either, may ask DP to give me a massage tonight (might have to promise him something in return though). Scared to use the Clary Sage if it's that potent. I think babies only come when they are cooked though.

MW coming in a bit (will hide RLT and Clary Sage before she comes) hope everyone else is doing well will check back in a bit.

Mum2OneAndBump · 05/01/2006 13:11

Afternoon all,

Well no action here had a quiet night last night, baby is also very very quiet at the moment!

I thought i would log on & see that someone has gone into labour infact i keep thinking it will be you sweetkitty, dont ask me why

I slept from about 12.20 last night till 6.30am, so not to good i am feeling extremly tired now though but having to stay awake because of ds & also have midwife today at 3.20pm, i know if i sleep i will not wake up.

Went to town this morning with ds & my mum tried to find holland and barratts to buy the clary sage oil but the blimmin shop has been moved & could not find it anywhere. Got to tired to keep walking about as town is massive & needed to get a present for ds's friend as it's his birthday party on Saturday! so gave up! I will return though & find it!!

How is everyone Hunker seems to have been a bit quiet ? Maybe just maybe? if not then let me know how your getting on with the clary sage oil?

Anyway i will be back to update about what the midwife has to say about position of baby god i hope it is the right way up & engaged cause i am soooo bored of waiting now, even dp said last night please get the baby out i am getting sooo excited ((bless him)

Take care all & can someone please go into labour so we can spice things up on here i am bored lol.

xx

sweetkitty · 05/01/2006 13:44

M2OAB - I hope your right and it is me next or really anyone next TBH we need a bit of action!

OP posts:
LOOMER · 05/01/2006 15:34

Just a quickie to say that I got my Clary Sage oil in Boots - their own brand aromatherapy range. What on earth did the lady in H&B say to you about it SK? I have been told that a friend of a friend put it in her bath on her due date, and went into labour the next day. But that could be sheer coincidence!

Oh, and I need advice on how much Arnica to take - the bottle says 2 pills every six hours, until symptoms subside - but as we don't have any symptoms per se... ? Unless being pregnant is a symptom?!

Right-oh, off to make a very hot chili con carne next... that should do in place of curry tonight, eh?

Eshay · 05/01/2006 15:44

No action here either. I did go for a huge walk today so am feeling mighty pleased about that. Even went to the libbrary and got a book about reflexology. DH will be thrilled. He is always having headaches and shoulder pains so maybe I can wiggle some toe and make it all better for him. I'd prefer that over serious massage of neck and shoulders as he always wants me to squeeze and knead as hard as I can and I just get too tired. Even if I can't get the right spot I'm sure he will be all excited at the prospect of me having to try out all the things written in the book on his lucky feet.

Lisa, we'll def try and arrange a meet up once the babies are here. I still have two weeks to go until my due date but it's not long for you now. Don't tell me you live in Aldershot Military Town, right next to North Camp in Farnborough... I live in NC. That would make you about 10 mins away from me - on foot!

Maman2006, I'm afraid i don't get that error message but maybe you could try signing up with a new name and see if that works better. Sorry, not very technical advice but sometimes these tricks do work.

Sk- you've made me very curious about your nightmare morning. Am going to find your other thread and see what happened with the lovely Abbie.

iris66 · 05/01/2006 16:56

Hi all - had a fab reflexology session this morning resulting in some back/low abdo ache like just before a period but it's all gone now friend said my cervix reflex was much bigger and very soft (strange how you can never feel it on yourself!) which is a good sign methinks (well, it has been on my clients). Was a bit spaced out on the way home so forgot to get clary sage. Fresh pineapples clearly do not exist in Wiltshire so haven't got that either!! Will have to rely on DH's mega hot chilli (and bod ) instead tonight & try again once DD gets back on mon. It's all getting a bit fraught here doing a dry run of her packing (she seems as hormonal as me at the mo, poor thing)maybe the stress will bring something on

Loomer - going on what my homeopath gave me for my op I'd suggest a dose as soon as you go into labour then every 4 hours for the first day then back to twice a day for 3/4 days after - that's what I'm doing anyway.

Horseshoe hasn't posted for a while too - wonder how she is.

Will look back in later - let's hope we all get some action tonight

sweetkitty · 05/01/2006 16:59

Maman2006 - I had to reverify my e-mail account when I tried to get back in, I would rejoin.

Loomer - all woman from H&B said was that she couldn't recommend it as it gave cause strong contractions (err thats the idea) she said her daughter wanted to use it at 39 weeks and she wouldn't let her! Hunker started a thread about it a week ago it's in pregnancy I think.

I didn't start taking the Arnica until the day afterwards (bad organisation with DD coming early) I read somewhere you can start taking it at the beginning of labour as it helps with the pain and bruising afterwards. Someone on here said it helped with SPD as well. I had a 2nd degree tear and I think the arnica and the lavendar oil baths really helped. Also it's lovely to say "right I'm off for a lavender bath leave DP/H with baby for a bit and just relax)

OP posts:
Mum2OneAndBump · 05/01/2006 18:03

Evening all,

Well been to the Midwife, have come out very peed off & dwon now. Firstly this certain midwife is "ALWAYS" late i had to sit there for a whole hr before seeing her my appointment was 3.20pm went in at 4.20pm so that pissed me off as seats were uncomfortable & i am shattered & just could not keep my eyes open.

Anyway she is totally unsure at what way up baby is, also she could say was that there was limbs below my belly button which limbs she does not know.
I have to go to the EPU tomorrow morning at 9am to have a presentation scan to see if baby is breech! Do you think if i ask the scanner if she can verify if it is still a girl she will tell me or should i keep my mouth shut & not push my luck?

I also have very itchy skin mainly my arms & they have scratches where i have been itching & itching i showed the mimdwife who suggested i put cream on it tonight & if it is still itchy or gets worse by morning i have to have a blood test when i go to EPU.

Everything seems to be going wrong now, i feel totally scared now as i really hate the idea of 1) a CS & 2) to be induced, 2 of my fears they are but i suppose what will be will be but i now know i will be sleeping even less as i am a worrier!

So please everyone cross you fingers for this big wimp that my baby is 1) head down & 2) is still a girl lol.

Also just to add i can not view pics on yahoo either it has the Error message will try again though.

Mum2OneAndBump · 05/01/2006 18:13

Now i have scared myself bwcause i have just googled itching in pregnancy & read that signs of the OC disease are itching on hands, feet & arms and feeling unwell or loss of appetite, I have itchy arms, back & little on legs i have felt unwell today but no loss of appetite, it says baby can either come early or on rare occassions be born stillborn

What should i do? i am scared now for my baby i will never forgive myself do you think it will all be ok?

Rach69 · 05/01/2006 18:46

Poor Mum2one - at your mw for being so vague, no wonder you're p**sd off. Sorry really dont know anything about OC - Lisa?! I would mention it at the scan tomorrow, is your bump itchy - I think that's teh key thing, it's to do with your liver isn't it? As long as you can feel the baby moving plenty - she'll be fine (mind you, quietening down can also be a sign of labour...)

I think it is harder to tell the sex on later scans because the baby is so squished.

BTW those 'up the bum' voltarol suppositories/pessaries are absolutely brilliant - if you have any pain after the birth from stitches/bruising etc do ask your mw for them. Also ask for a bit of ky jelly to stick em in with!

BBWBabeLisa · 05/01/2006 19:15

Mum2oneandbump

I know it's easy to say, but take it from someone who's already been diagnosed with OC, don't get yourself in a state about it. Insist on having a blood test tomorrow to check for OC. If it's diagnosed they'll have to induce, but as scary as that is it's got to be less scary than the risk of not doing it. From what I've read the risk of stillbirth is something like 10% if NO TREATMENT is given. This drops to something like half a percent once diagnosed. I have read on some sites about OC that because it can take a few days to get the blood test results they may induce immediately if they suspect OC in someone over 38 weeks rather than wait for the results.
The consultant told me the other day the most important thing I can do is keep a close eye on baby's movements and go to the hospital at the first sign of any reduction in movement. So be sure and count your kicks and dont be worried about seeming paranoid if you feel like you need to go get monitored.
I know it can be really scary, but once they know if it is OC or not thats half the battle. At the end of the day, it could be nothing at all and you'd have lost valuable sleep over nothing.

We're all here for you, and you're not going thru this alone.

Lis x

Mum2OneAndBump · 05/01/2006 20:12

Thanks for that Lis you have put my mind at rest a bit now, i have just been asleep, i am feeling very unwell at the moment i should be ok i am just a total WIMP & should try & look on the bright side, which ever way this baby comes out i suppose does not matter as long as its healthy i dont care now!
I will show the hospital my arms & legs & see what they think.

Can i ask a question does anyone know if baby is breech & they feel they need to get baby out because of this OC thing will they induce or will i be offered a Cs? i dont really fancy trying to give birth to a breech baby TIA

Thanks again lisa its great to get advice from someone who has had this xx

iris66 · 05/01/2006 20:58

Mum2One - have no idea about the OC/breech thing but don't see any reason why the sonographer can't have a look at what flavour you're having. I've been having fortnightly scans for GD & each time we've been asked if we know what we're having yet (although the baby has been very quick to confirm he's a boy IYKWIM - he's such a show off, just like his dad!!) Will keep everything crossed for you for tomorrow though. Whatever happens just make sure you ask plenty of questions. There's nothing worse than coming away confused & wishing you'd asked more!!

Rachey - have made a mental (and physical) note of voltarol/KY. Thanks - brave I am not

Eshay - good luck with your reflexology on DH.

Will be thinking "blooming flowery" thoughts for all of us tonight & looking forward to tomorrows news already!!
