Morning all as usual nothing to report. Am feeling completely lousy and have been in bed all morning, sinus pain is terrible feel like my head is going to explode taking paracetamol for it though. Another terrible nights sleep but luckily DP has been an angel and been great with DD. I think he is secretly enjoying it as usually I'm in charge of all things DD.

Haven't even really thought about going into labour, I don't think my body is going to allow it given how I'm feeling right now it's just as well.

I hope all you with new babies are having a lovely time getting to know them and the sleep deprivation isn't too bad.

Have a good Sunday.

Huge congrats to everyone who's given birth this week.

Eshay, well done you! It's really scary when they order a crash c-section isn't it? When the theatre team turned up in my room they asked the doc if it was an emergency section or crash section, he said crash and I started to panic. He said that just meant they'd have to knock me out as opposed to keeping me awake. In the end they didn't have to knock me out tho but was still hugely scary. I was convinced I wouldn't wake up if the gave me a GA and was grabbing Andys hand telling him I loved him, and asking him to tell my mum I loved her etc. You must be so relieved little Alexander is out and well now.
I've just had my last mw visit and all's well. Lola hasnt quite regained her birth weight but not far off, 7lb 3oz now. BF still a pain, she still won't have it and the pumping's still a nightmare for little results but am determined not to give up. Went to BF clinic at the hospital on Thurs but Lola slept thru it and refused to wake up to try and latch so they couldn't give much help! Am gonna try going again on Monday.
Mum's looking after the wee one so I'm off to bed for a couple of hours now. Catch up later. xx

Mumfun · 22/01/2006 15:33

Hi

Just really in symapthy with my waiting partner SK - cant beleive nothing yet either. And I had really bad sinuses 2 weeks ago - its so awful - do get your head steamed under a towel.

Just now having to think what to do re sweep, induction etc - really really dont think induction is for me - am minded to ask for a CS instead in view of past medical history. Never thought Id get here as DS arrived naturally by now. Took pic of bump to day and it is shockingly big!

SO hope to join in post natal chat soon but cant believe this baby making no moves out - and it is such a lively one too!

Rach69 · 22/01/2006 18:48

Back at last! I don't think I can possibly catch up with all the posts properly but huge congratulations for all the new babies - M21andbump, Hunker, Eshay and of course Iris - looks like Finn and Dominic were born under the same stars! Came home yesterday and slept all day - today have had all grandparents, kids etc and some other visitors but hopefully will manage to slow it down tomorrow. Dp and everyone totally besotted!

Sweetkitty - I really feel for you! Of course in the end I was 14 days over and frankly even that wouldn't have been long enough. I will post a proper birth announcement when I have time with all the gory details (Tesco online more pressing at the mo!). Basically I turned up for my planned section on Tuesday morning, the senior reg talked me into breaking my waters + syntocin for one last try... Spent hours on the drip doing nothing then 3 1/2 hrs in proper labour. I was never going to be able to push the little bruiser out myself (Lyra - well done you!) and he was becoming distressed so had a couple of goes at ventouse in theatre (his head was badly positioned - again!) then another team took over to do emergency (and it was by then) section. Finn's agpar at 1 min was 5 (floppy and respiratory distress) but thankfully 9 by 5 mins (after oxygen, adrenaline and cardiac massage). Ended up in an incubator (until he got a temp!) and combined with a massive ventouse swelling, tube feeding + 3hr blood samples, feel a bit angry that I was persuaded not to have planned section.

However, alls well that ends well and he is gorgeous! will put pics on yahoo later. Despite having to give him formula at first(because of his blood sugars) my milk is now in and he is feeding really well.

Mum2OneAndOneMore · 22/01/2006 20:10

NotAcow · 22/01/2006 20:17

Hello everyone - and apologies for not being very supportive/attentive for the last few days... have been ratty as hell and probably a bit of a nightmare to live with TBH, but thankfully thats over now.

Angus (Gus) was born this morning at 9:47am in the birth pool at home. was all very quick - an hour and 45mins from first pain to birth - but all went smoothly and apart from after pains and tiredness am feeling great.

RIGHT, so now thats over with, where are you SK? , im coming up to see you to have words with your bump and see if we cant get you delivered pronto... really hope you are feeling ok today - havnt had a chance to catch up as am really knackered - but my thoughts are with you, and the rest of the ladies still waiting

lyra41 · 22/01/2006 20:38

Rach

Grrrr at that consultant who persuaded you to have one last go at a vaginal birth. from an outside perspective it seems really obvious it was always going to end in an emergency c section. and especially grrr that finn got into distress when there was no need, if the planned c section had gone ahead. thank goodness that he recovered from the birth, but you could have done without all that eh? cardiac massage and adrenaline, blimey, it sounds very scarey. i thnk a letter of complaint re mismanagement is in order at some point in the future, don't you?

not wanting to be negative tho, i'm glad you're home now and that finn is feeding well. good luck to your nips!

lyra41 · 22/01/2006 20:40

BIG CONGRATS to notacow and huge admiration and at your one and a half hour labour!! Lucky you. and welcome to Gus, can't wait to see the photos!

hunkermunker · 22/01/2006 20:55

Huge congratulations, NAC! Sounds like you had a very straightforward birth! Welcome to Gus

Rach, so glad you're home and safe - must have been very scary. I had blood sugar issues with DS2 as well, but without the complicated birth that you had - well done for establishing bfeeding!

M21A1M, my top top top tip for breastfeeding is never give up in the middle of the night. It's always harder at night in the beginning to bfeed IME - everything seems so difficult.

And my second tip is Lansinoh - oh, how marvellous is that stuff?! I might know how to bfeed, but DS2 doesn't and I'm sure I'd be bleeding without this marvellous stuff! As it is, I'm just a bit tender.

SK, I cannot tell you how much I'm hoping you go into labour naturally. I keep thinking of you.

DS2 is a dream, am LOVING having him - he's so sweet! Eerie at times though as he looks SO like DS1 that it's like going back in time! DS1 is a bit confused by everything, but he's been very gentle and sweet with DS2, so am hoping they'll be fine together.

sweetkitty · 22/01/2006 20:56

hi ladies

Firstly congratulations notacow - sounds like a nice labour (as labours go) Angus is a lovely name as well, how are your other two boys liking having a wee brother?

Also my friend who was due on the 16th January has had her baby boy too, so pleased for her that she didn't need an induction in the end.

Rach - great to see you, bloody consultant, why didn't they just give you the section? Saved you a lot of stress, so glad you and Finn are doing well now though and BFing is going well too.

Well I have been in bed all day (not giving birth I hasten to add) sinusitis is hell feel like my whole head is going to explode, can only take paracetamol as well. Was sick today as well and appetite is non existent, managed to force some Weetabix down me this evening more for the bump than for me. Phoned MW as was worried about the effect me having a temperature would have on the baby but she said people have colds and flus all the time when pregnant and got the usual paracetamol and fluids advice. Don't feel that down about not having the baby today as have no energy for it. At least I know I will have a January baby in the end, am going to try and convince them to let me go till next Monday the 30th so DP can be present as SIL can look after DD.

Loads of newborn hugs to your little bundles, I'm off to update my stats thread and see who else is hanging on in there with me.

take care S x

Hi all

Sweetkitty - hope you have a better day tomorrow lovely and hopefully today was a turning point for you. Thinking of you loads & sending "you are cooked now!!" vibes to your LO

CONGRATULATIONS to Eshay, NotACow & Mum2One!!!

NotACow - flippin' rapid or what !!! did your mum deliver? Your DSs must be soo pleased with their little brother.

Eshay - ((hugs)) for a speedy recovery & hope to see you back online soon.

Mum2One - love your pix - we are all having gorgeous babies aren't we

Rach - one sunday roast & it feels like you've never been away doesn't it!! Good to see you back honey but what a palaver!! It'd be interesting to see if our DS's share any characteristics since they were born so close together astrologically!

Have no Lasinoh though letting milk dry on them followed by a dollop of vaseline seems to have resolved my "nips ripping off on the breastpad " problem...talking of which.. need to test it works again...

PrincessPeaHead · 22/01/2006 21:54

just checking in. still here. in a foul mood. have sent dh out for icecream.

well done everyone on your lovely babies

hotmama · 22/01/2006 22:02

Perhaps more Feb 06 babies on the way! Not mine I hasten to add - I'm 39 weeks today!

lyra41 · 23/01/2006 09:20

morning all

sweetkitty, how are you today? hope your sinuses are giving some relief and not so painful today. it's a long haul eh? but you will DEFINITELY get there!!! and not too long to go now.

ds2 is having quite a long sleep now, he fed about 5.30am and is still asleep. why couldn't he have done that in the middle of the night?!! he seems to be doing his long sleeps in the day now (3- 4 hours) and wanting milk every 2 hours in the night zzzzzzzzzzz. i hope he changes to a more civilised feeding pattern soon!

well i should take advantage of a bit of time to myself and go and have a bath, so see y'all later.

hotmama · 23/01/2006 09:27

Another Feb 06 baby has been born!

Please enlighten me about the lucazade.

sweetkitty · 23/01/2006 09:28

morning all, still nothing to report here, another horrendous night between my face feeling like it's going to explode and the BHs and being kicked all night haven't had much sleep at all. Didn't manage to keep any food down yesterday either and temperature through the roof. So am waiting on doctor to arrive, think I need some antibiotics and some decent painkillers to sort me out a bit. Usually I hate going to doctors and hate taking antibiotics but a bit worried about not eating/sleeping and the effect it's having on the baby. Just as well she has not appeared have no energy to push her out!

Lyra - glad little Alex is doing well and BFing going well, just need to get him to know the difference between night and day now, not easy I know.

Mumfun and PPH - hope you both go into labour soon as well, at least one way or the other I will probably have a baby by next Monday and will be on the post natal thread moaning about my nipples as well.

take care all and have a good Monday!

OP posts:
iris66 · 23/01/2006 10:11

Sweetkitty - Hope the doctor can give you something to sort things out quickly - you're having a right time of it at the moment aren't you We're all thinking of you so much & I've even started dreaming about you!!!!! - I dreamt your LO came out to a huge fanfare last night (a bit like a cartoon wedding type thing with footmen playing those big long horns with flags on!!) I'm obviously starting to react to the sleep depravation!! DH has Dominic at the mo so I'd best do as you are Lyra & get myself cleaned up & dressed!

Cheery uppy vibes to all still waiting

barrelrider · 23/01/2006 11:19

Morning all

notacow massive congratulations and well done on such a fast delivery !! You make it sound really easy

mum21 just had a look at sophie photos, she is lovely, made me cry !! cute !!!

Sweetkitty I hope the doctor sorts you out a bit, sounds like you're having a rough old time of it indeed. i'm sure the baby is fine and next week is really soon if it's born then - but let's hope it happens sooner Sending you nice happy healthy vibes

Nothing to report here, have told self I'm not due until next weekend altho I'm 40+5 today. And enormously fat, have put on loads of weight in past week, really hard to get out of bed!!

Dropped my pint of lucozade on beige carpet yesterday!

Also cleaned and hoovered car (despite feeling totally paranoid that all the neightbours were watching and someone would appear and say something annoying about nesting). Then went for 3 mile walk. Felt some twinges in bed but turned out to be the usual - 'contractions' at the 'other end' (sorry if tmi - I have a lot of trouble with my solids!!!)

Also manically checking the bowl for a show every time I go for a wee.. is this normal???

good luck to all those still waiting and sorry to hear about BF problems with the others- can't wait to have those particular probs!! grass is greener i guess!!

lilstarry1 · 23/01/2006 12:49

Have just been reading about all the mums to be and all the new mums, getting very excited! I'm due officially tomorrow, but haven't particularly had any signs that she's on her way (first DD so am in the dark as to what to expect!).

Rather nerve wracking, off to see midwife tomorrow ... last appointment I was told she's rather small and not in position (she still moves around ALOT which I thought was rather odd).. I suppose it is a waiting game?! Altho' we have our new sofa arriving tomorrow (supposedly) it was due two weeks ago so everyone has been making jokes as to which will arrive first.. I suppose I could go into labour this evening

Congratulations everyone who has successfully popped, and stay sane all of those who are bursting at the seams

xxxx

sweetkitty · 23/01/2006 13:41

hi again

Iris - pmsl at your fanfare dream!!! Amazing what having a newborn does to you. I think my DP expects me to jump up and be my usual self after the babies born, I'm thinking yea right with a newborn feeding and a 18 mo DD to look after.

Ended up with a phone appt with doctor, got antibiotics so hopefully they should clear the fuzz out my head. Spoke to MW as well she said baby will be fine much better than me! Asked about being induced at 40+16 days and she said I will have to speak to the consultant as I go from normal to abnormal after 14 days!!! Hate consultant anyway.

barrelrider - I know what you mean, I have been playing "showhunting" for weeks now.

lilstarry - welcome to the thread not much of us left hanging on now, sending you some labour vibes too x

Eshay · 23/01/2006 16:44

Hi girls,

I haven't really read any of your posts so I have no idea what is gong on and if any other people have popped yet. As DH said, Alex was delivered by Crash section, although I had no idea this was anything special. Never herd of it, even! I sure am glad I didn't waste too much time doing uncomfortable perenial massage I was in hospital for a few das but am doing well and was discharged yesterday afternoon. I'll write a proper birth story later and catch up with how everyone's doing. Good luck and speak soon!

sweetkitty · 24/01/2006 07:54

hi fellow waitees and mums with lovely newborns!

hi eshay - good to see you and again many congratulations on the birth of Alexander, how's Thomas liking being a big brother? I can't believe you had him and I'm still waiting!

Well surprise, surprise no sign of DD2 yet. TMI alert but last night I had some odd discharge like jelly or clear hair gel, no blood or anything thought it might be a show as there was lots of it but nothing. TBH if I had known I was going to be like this I would have asked for an induction today. I'm 10 days over now and just want to get it over with. SIL is away from Weds to Sun and shes the only one who can look after DD1 so I need to ask them to wait until Monday to induce me, will be 16 days by then so will have a fight on my hands but it's either that or give birth minus DP.

I suppose it's my own fault for being so cocky and thinking DD2 would be as early as DD1 was. I just thought having had one baby in 4 hours that the next one would be as straightforward, I'm beginning to think there night be something preventing her from coming out. I just want to see her and make sure she's ok now.

OP posts:
hotmama · 24/01/2006 08:21

Morning sk.

Sounds like a show to me - if dd2 makes appearance today will you dh being able to go with you as dsil is around?

I know how horrible it is being overdue - dd1 was 9 days late. I'm not due until Sunday - but I think I will be late as well.

Cyberhugs to you. xx
