Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas and enjoyed the festivities! Can't believe it's NYE tomorrow already - just think, 2012 is the year we have our babies! Grin

It seems like there are lots of scans in the next few days so hope they all go well.

Glad your scan went well baby-wise ballroompink Hope you get positive news about the cyst soon.

LimeFlower - good news on the Downs results. How lovely to be feeling kicks!

Glad to hear of your good scan too bonbonpixie. I'm sure the long legs is nothing to worry about - could it be that the legs have had a growth spurt and the rest of the baby is now catching up? Are you or DH long-legged?

I've been feeling lots of kicks for about a week now Grin after being inspired by ballroompink to sit and watch my tummy! We had builders in last week so had a manic few days, but the day after they'd finished and we'd cleaned up, I was sat watching my tummy after breakfast and saw two unmistakeable pokes! Since then I've felt lots of movements, so have been trying to work out if there are any times of the day that it tends to move more - 7am and 7pm seem to be popular at the moment!

I'm off to a wedding tomorrow evening...not sure how I'm going to stay awake until 12!!

Newtothisstuff · 30/12/2011 20:49

Saw the consultant :-) thought I'd have a fight on my hands but he was actually really nice !! C Section at 39 weeks.. (breech elective with my DD) decided not to risk or even attempt the vbac Blush

dreamingofanallotment · 30/12/2011 21:04

Just realised I never wrote what had made me think of coming onto the May babies thread...

A new series of One Born Every Minute starts next week! I love watching OBEM - I have a feeling I'm going to end up sobbing along to most of this series though (either because of sweet babies or the 'oh my god I've got to do that!' part of it!

Glad your consultant was nice newtothisstuff - good to have a decision made so you don't have to worry about it. So you know the week your baby will be born!!

Newtothisstuff · 30/12/2011 21:10

Yeah dreaming I do.. Which is also a relief ! Have my scan Wednesday very very excited but really nervous all the same.. Hope he/she isn't hiding because we would love to know what we are having.. I've got a lot of respect for you all that want surprises I'm far too impatient haha

Yorky · 30/12/2011 21:15

That's good news New, glad you can relax a bit aboiut the birth now
Hope your cyst isn't a problem Bonbon, at least it isn't painful even though it sounds big (I have no idea about cysts so no clue what size is normal)
Thanks for the heads up about OBEM dreaming, not sure I can watch it with too many hormoes - I'll flood the living room at all the tiny newbies! and I shout at the women who lie on their backs - not good seeing as I want to be a MW!

Christmas wasn't too bad, felt a bit strained at my parents but they babysat so we got to go for an anniversary meal :)
Then when we got home we stripped the wallpaper in the hall! put the 1st coat of paint on this evening and not sure I like the colour! Blush and shattered now

Hi everyone, well done newtothisstuff on getting your c section agreed. I had an appt last week and have been refused an elective section, despite having had a previous section and a bad vbac experience with dd2 where I was alone and unsupervised for hours. I mentioned the new NICE guidelines saying all women should have a choice over this, but was told that was irrelevant at my hospital and they would not pay for me to have a section, I have to go for the vbac route. (I am at a hospital which couldn't get us all booked in for scans as they are so busy / over stretched, so I guess costs are a massive factor for them. I'm a bit envious of those of you experiencing choices in the nhs!)
I'll stop moaning now! Great to hear all the good scan stories. I hope you get some good results about your cyst ballroom pink.
Well I also had my scan today. Everything looked good, the measurements are all in line with my dates, sonographer was happy with everything. We also got to find out what we're having - i'm afraid we decided to go for practicality over an exciting surprise, to see whether we need to buy anything, as this is baby no.3. It turns out we can save a bit of money...as it looks like we'll be welcoming our 3rd daughter! Really pleased as I've loved having my girls, but I was a bit surprised (and most of my family) as I think we just assumed odds were it would be a boy as we have 2 girls already - illogical I know! In fact I should have realised my body is good at making girls!
Thinking of all of you with scans coming up next week.

cupcakefairy · 31/12/2011 11:21

LimeFlower · 31/12/2011 18:12

Hello everybody:)

Wishing you happy New Year with healthy bundles of joy:)

ballroom fx for the conultant appointment-hope the cyst won't give you any troubles. At least they noticed that and they'll monitor it.
dreaming I'm freaking out now as no moves yesterday nor today :( hope the little one has just changed the position.Wondering now whether to get a doppler or a stethoscope despite saying earlier that I definitely won't
newtothis whatever best for you and the baby-at least you'll have a peace of mind now.
Yorky decorating here as well:) walls are painted ivory colour, now taking care of skirting boards
luckynumber girrrlllls rulezzzz :o

Sitting home with stinking cold and cursing my bad luck-hope it won't make any damage to the wee one.Just managed to get rid of one bugger holding me for nearly 2 months when the other came.Grrrrr.
Went to the sales couple of days ago,got a few items of clothing-very nice and sort of "flexible" to accomodate my bump when it eventually appears (not maternity stuff).

LimeFlower · 31/12/2011 18:14

BTW,is anybody team blue in May?Either I missed that or is it a "girly" month?

Newtothisstuff · 31/12/2011 19:19

Hope I'm team blue !! Find out Wednesday :-)

LimeFlower · 31/12/2011 19:46

Getting excited who'll make the first boy annoucement here!Deffo not me as we decided to go for surprise-team yellow here!
Good luck Newtothis :)

Wrigglebum · 01/01/2012 22:50

Lucky can you not ask for a second opinion or choose another hospital? I was worried I'd be refused an ELCS (bad birth last time ending in a very bad tear despite a 6lb baby in optimal position, was told v firmly by docs and mws last time to not attempt another natural birth as my body isn't well designed for it) but luckily they agreed. Their attitude was that it is a major operation but I'm highly likely to need a CS anyway (very narrow pelvic arch made it hard for ds to get out) so they might as well do it planned.

Do you have a forceful friend/relative you could take with you or is your GP/MW sympathetic enough to push for a CS for you?

Congrats to all others who've had good scans, it's so exciting! Sometimes wish we'd found out gender but then I'm excited about having a surprise too. Can't believe I'm 22 weeks now! Just another 17 to go then since I'll be having the CS at 39 weeks.

saggybaps · 02/01/2012 17:38

I'm Team Blue! TB totally H I was hoping for another girl, I love my daughter so much, even though she wasn't the easiest of babies. My dream was 3 girls. But still very very happy. Statistically I'm old (37) so just happy 'he's' a healthy baby.

Mythical, I'm really glad you mentioned the Braxton Hicks. NYE I went to a wedding which started at 12..... and was full on until 1230. Was feeling quite uncomfortable & wondered if it was too early?

2012... how life will be changing!

olittletownof · 02/01/2012 19:11

we're team blue too, DH didn't even last until the end of Xmas day dinner before telling. I'd been expecting hoping two the same but if I'd been told a girl then I'd of been disappointed that I wouldn't have a boy. I don't think we'll have 3 as I'll be 40 next month (eek).

I never got round to weeing on the baking powder but the bigger boob theory was right!

Happy 2012 btw.

Newtothisstuff · 02/01/2012 19:14

Weeing on baking powder WHAT ???? Someone must tell

LimeFlower · 02/01/2012 20:53

Ha,ha,it's more balanced now genderwise:)

olittletown what's the boob theory?
newtothis -weeing into baking powder-if it fizzles it supposed to be a boy,if stays still-girl.Don't know whether it's true, will turn out in a few months time :)

tostaky · 02/01/2012 21:52

just did the baking powder and it seems it wold be a girl... we will know for sure on saturday...!!!

starting to feel uncomfortale already which is quite bad .. i dont know how i am going to deal withbeing 8-9 months pregnant with two toddlers...

my two boys are intense and hard work but they are wonderful, which keeps me going and smiling!

olittletownof · 02/01/2012 22:21

last time, with DD, I got a much bigger right boob, I thought at the time this meant I was having a little girl, although looking back I was convinced I was having a boy until I got quite a shock at the 20 wk scan so probably just remembered wrong, however, this time round my left boob was noticeably bigger so I thought likely to be a boy.

If you google it, it says right boob = boy, but not in my case. 50:50 chance and a sample of two isn't much to go on though Smile

myweeangel · 03/01/2012 10:38

Hi ladies,

Just checking in quickly. It's been such a busy Christmas so haven't really kept up with you all but at a glance I see there are lots of scans. Mine's today and althoguh DH wants to find out, we shall be team yellow (he had his way with finding out about DD and I want a surprise). 22 weeks today and loads of movement in last week or so. Just hoping everything's ok.

Anyone got advice for back pain? been lifting my 2 and a half yr old DD quite a lot and think I have pulled a muscle. Having trouble sleeping because of it, and hard to get comfortable during day too. Off to have a hot bath.

Happy 2012 to you all! May we all have safe deliveries and easy, happy-go-lucky, sleepy, smiley babies....

Wrigglebum · 03/01/2012 15:31

Just got my Theraline pillow (ordered it on Amazon Sunday with free delivery and got it lunchtime!!). Been slobbing with it whilst DS has a rare nap and I'm loving it already! Amazon have some of them on a bit cheaper depending on the cover fabric- got mine for £33 instead of £45.

Mikocat · 03/01/2012 16:11

Hello ladies, hope you all a lovely Christmas and New Year. My NYE was a complete wash-out, my Mum and her partner had got us tickets to a local pub's party, but I went along at 9, ate some of the curry buffet and went home at 1030 - I was in bed by 12!

23 weeks today, tomorrow I'm off to the midwife, hoping to get my MATB1 sorted out. I plan to go on maternity leave at the beginning of March - a whole 2 months before the baby is born. This is because we are moving back down South and hope to be in London sometime in March. Not contented with one big life change DP will be changing his job of 13 years and we will be moving city too. Although in my case it will be a move BACK to my hometown and I will be much closer to family and friends.

Annoyingly little movement from DD, I know it's because of the anterior placenta, but it's still a shame.

Anyone else been going crazy in the sales? DD is getting quite a wardrobe together now...

Newtothisstuff · 03/01/2012 18:42

Hi everyone.. Arggghhhhhhh I'm really nervous I've got my scan tomorrow.. I'm so scared.. I haven't told anyone at work yet so I think I'm nervous about that too.. Really hope everything is ok.. Feeling loads of movement and getting some really hard kicks so I'm sure everything is ok.. Really want to know the sex too to everyone keep their fingers crossed Grin

cupcakefairy · 03/01/2012 19:38

Hi ladies and happy new year!
Glad to hear all scans etc going well and lovely news about the team blues and pinks :) team yellow for us too though I have an inkling towards girl.

Wow newtothis how have you managed to keep it secret?? My bump has suddenly got massive over the last couple of weeks to the point where strangers have noticed now so must be pretty obvious! Good luck for scan you'll be fine :)

miko wow to moving and chnging jobs etc Shock dh wanted to try and buy a house before baby but think I've talked him out of it!! Hope all goes ok for you. You've reminded me I need to get Matb1 sorted for dh's work.

myweeangel I can really recomend a dream gennii pillow...I slept with mine for the first time (this pregnancy) last night and it was bliss Grin but there are loads of pregnancy pillows on the market so have a browse, read some reviews etc. Otherwise, paracetamol can really help with backpain. I sympathise- my 18mo ds wants picking up all the time and it is such a strain on back/pelvis :(

wriggle you must be relieved at getting a cs agreed. Am quite envious of those of you who know when you'll have your baby! Having been 17 days overdue with ds I'm dreading the whole 'is it today or isn't it??' feelings all over again! at your birth experience with ds. I had a v bad experience with episiotomy/forceps last time so have been reading this thread with great interest. Seems the risks of instrumental delivery and cs are both quite high so I need to have a proper talk with my mw about my options!

yorky eek at OBEM starting again. I couldn't watch the first series when pg with ds as it made me too scared but LOVED the second series once I'd been through it myself...so time will tell if it's too scary to watch again while pregnant Grin

myweeangel · 03/01/2012 19:49

Thanks cupcake - shall certainly look into one of those pillows, sounds like it would be a "dream" come true... geddit?.. sorry!

Scan went well today. DH convinced he knows the sex as he got a good look while I had to lie back and measurements were being taken. I then said I didn't want to know so midwife kept scanner away from nether regions! However, DH has kinda already (!) let it slip he thinks it's a boy. I've thought that all along anyway. Have told him I think he's bluffing (because I don't want to even think I know as I would def let it slip) Confused so as far as I'm concerned I'm still team yellow. Although paying more attention to the baby boys' names in my head than the girls!!! Hope this makes sense...

Baby moving LOADS anyway and got to see great facial profiles as well as a bit of ear-scratching and hand-clapping! So lovely to see such activity.

Good luck to everyone else, looking forward to hearing more nice scan tales.
