Catsycat - good luck with the GTT today

I'm relivied baby seems to have moved up again during the night!! I'm pretty sure he went in my pelvis after the osteopath and then was not that comfy so decided to wriggle out of it during the night!! Because it is my 3rd pregnancy, he can probably finds its way out easily!!!

Baby names: I like Sam, my friend named her little boy like this 2 years ago.
We have finally agreed on a name too... And I bought some dummies and newborn nappies!!! We are ready!!! (although I'm only 30 weeks!)

Just can't decide whether to get a double puschair or not... Ds2 runs off sometimes which is quite scary and he still needs his nap every afternoon.... Decision, decision...

tostaky · 15/03/2012 13:29

Yay for you!! Grin

Catsycat · 15/03/2012 13:49

Thanks tostaky!!! If I were less whale-like and more athletic I'd have been cartwheeling round the living room. Don't think the mw would approve though!

Hurray for your readiness! I am still not. Been to the interior design shop today and seen lovely wallpaper and fabric for the nursery though. :)

We have a lovely green Phil & Ted double E3, which we bought when expecting DD1 4 1/2 years ago. It's great because you can take the extra seat off if you don't need it (and you can buy a kit to turn that seat into a bouncy chair!). It's ideal round here, as the town is old and full of small shops, which a side by side double would have no chance of getting into! We got a really good bundle deal on ours from a "proper" baby shop, but via eBay. It still makes me happy when I look at it (this is really sad, but true - I need to get out more....).

LittleSarah · 15/03/2012 15:48

tostaky - How old is your ds2? Mine will be three when baby is born (well three weeks away from it) so I think I must retire him with regards to buggies. He also runs off, and then other times wants carried, and so on, still I am hoping that the buggy board will help. Plus will probably use the sling a lot at first.

I am feeling fairly ready. Need to get moses basket still, a new changing mat and aforementioned buggy board plus would rather like a changing bag but once we have the first two I will feel ready. Other bits are not essential, especially in the first weeks.

Catsy - Whoop! So pleased your GTT was normal, you are vindicated indeed, fantastic!

My wee man still seems so high up this time, still getting lots of breathlessness. Obviously not expecting him to move really low anytime soon but perhaps just a little less pressure on the lungs...? Pretty please.

Right, must get dd to ballet. Poor ds is fast asleep on the sofa and needs to be awakened!

goodname · 15/03/2012 15:57

hi all, Sorry I have not posted for weeks. Still have dodgy internet and every time I come on there is so much to catch up on I never quite make it to the end of the thread. Have finally read everything now so can post without feeling bad.
Glad to hear you result catsycat. Its funny ready about everyone getting annoyed about all the testing and weighing as I have yet to be weighed once in this pregnancy. Also I am not getting my 28 week bloods done until my 34 week appointment next week. This is because I always have to go to phlebotomy before anyone can find a vein and my 34 week appointment is at the hospital anyway. It does seem to be a bit more relaxed here though. I have no idea what I have put on this pregnancy but my bump is pretty uncomfortable and I generally feel much worse than last time. I think thats mainly caused by having to run after 21 month old who is always wanting either carried or to run away from me. I look back fondly at my last pregnancy when I had time to go swimming 2-3 times and weeks and rest whenever I felt like it. Now my only rest is at work!

I have to wait until the due date to start mat leave as the person who is taking over from me does not finish her mat leave until then! Quite jealous of people who no longer have to sit on these awful office chairs anymore. At least I am just part time, do not think I could do this all the time.
Was very glad to hear about pelvic floor exercises not working as I just cant make myself do them. Have noticed a lot more embarrassing leakage when sneezing etc though.
Am feeling most disorganised here compared to most people. Due on 4th May and have not packed anything, have not sorted any space for the babys stuff (although do have the boxes down from the attic) and have not bought a single nappy (although do have plenty of reussables somewhere which I doubt I will be reussing). Must, Must get organised but cannot find the energy. I think I had everything sorted by 20 weeks last time.

The one thing I have done is bought a double buggy. Was dithering over this also totasky so bought a second hand graco one. It was pretty cheap and came with a car seat attachment which is so handy. Still have two car seats and single buggys from last time so the garden shed is a bit full of buggys just now. Oh also bought a swing which can be plugged in (also second hand) and the graco car seat fits in that as well as the buggy. Quite excited about that.

Struggling with names here, we are having a boy and cannot agree at all. DH changes his mind every day it seems. I love Jonah but DH is not so keen and we both like Donald but dont like it shortened to don or donnie. Dh likes Archie, James, Noah and Kiliian but I am not that keen esp on Killian. Our DS1 is called Fergus which we both loved straight away and cant find anything we like as much. Any thoughts?

Sorry very long essay here but have been meaning to post for so long.

cupcakefairy · 15/03/2012 16:56

Hi goodname :) we have the same problem with boys names (still have a girls name we really love from last time) we both adore ds's name & I am quite worried I won't love this ones name as much if its a boy.. so far the only one we can agree on is actually dh's middle name & his mum calls him by it sometimes so could be bit weird!
I like the names you've mentioned, esp Jonah.

tostaky · 15/03/2012 19:18

Sarah - DS2 will be just 2 when Ds3 will be born and I just can't see myself running after ds2 with ds3 in a sling...
Had a black Phil & ted before but got rid of it as i kept puncturing and also Ds2 didn't like to be in the dark between 2 and 6 months.
Might go for a second hand dbl buggy.. The city mini jogger looks great but I'm not sure I can justify the expense... Will have a look on eBay

I think Archie would go quite well with fergie!

tostaky · 15/03/2012 19:32

Sorry goodname I meant fergus

LittleSarah · 15/03/2012 20:14

Hi goodname. I know what you mean about energy, I seem to manage shopping for baby stuff - esp online! - manageable, but exercise has gone out of the window. Not done yoga for ages, and even going for a walk seems beyond me. Argh! I think all your names are nice esp Archie and James, I like James/Jamie but it was another vetoed by dh! Although dh has now rediscovered a name that was on our list before which I think may end up being the one...

tostaky - If my ds was only 2 I would definitely be double buggying! I think at 3 it is hard to justify (not that I bothered with dd, she was such a dawdler) though so I am going to have to manage without. Although I also won't be running about after ds1 with ds2 in sling, when ds2 is in sling I can put ds1 one in the buggy!

cupcakefairy · 15/03/2012 23:27

tostaky my ds will be v nearly 2 when this one arrives & we have bought the bjcm.. I don't think we'll end up using it much to be honest as I can use the sling with ds in maclaren, or ds will just want to walk, but we figured we'd sell it on again if it was hardly used. We got it secondhand on gumtree for £180, had bid on a few on eBay but they kept going over £200 so we were v lucky this one came up in our area and hardly used :)

Mikocat · 16/03/2012 08:40

Morning ladies, I am on here less now I'm on ML than I was when at work!

Things are OK, the SPD is still bothering me, so I'm effectively housebound unless DH takes me anywhere in the car.

We are moving house in a week's time - eek! I feel bad that I can't be much help, DH wants to leave me at my Mum's house for the duration so that I don't get carried away and try and do to much - I'd like to be there, even if just to make cups of tea etc!

DD seems stuck pretty much on my right hand side, I can feel her kick/punch my hip bone every so often and she hates me lying on my right-hand side, so I'm stuck with left-hand only in bed now. I feel HUGE but then I'm only 5 foot one, so that doesn't help.

I'm getting quite a bit of acid reflux, especially at night, the Gaviscon is firmly on the bedside table now.

We have got a few more bits and pieces now, we went out on Monday (my birthday) and bought some maternity pads, nipple shields and nappies etc for the hospital bag, DH said sarcastically "Wow, this is the best birthday ever!".

DMil and DFil have given us £300 for a new pram (we had a second-hand stroller given us, but I think they wanted better for their first grandchild), so yesterday we went out and ordered an Obaby Zezu, I love it as it looks like a ladybird and is quite a nice size, being only 5'1" (and DH only about 5'8") a lot of the prams I saw looked ENORMOUS to me, look how cute it is

Langoria · 16/03/2012 08:46

Hi Ladies,
I've only just found this group, so I hope you don't mind a latecomer?!

I'm due on 30th May, and so far I've had a fairly non-eventful pregnancy, until the last few weeks when I have been suffering from Bronchitis, and then managed to fracture a rib in my back during a coughing fit!!! ouch. Needless to say I have been feeling a bit sorry for myself.

I've been seeing a physiotherapist who specialises in pregnant women and she has been great, and combined with some mild codeine, I'm feeling much better now.

Add to all that, the fact that we moved out of our house 3 weeks ago so that it could be renovated before baby arrives and life has been a little stressful, but luckily DH and I are staying at my parents so my mum has been looking after me :)

We move home first week of April so plenty of time to start nesting!

What else to mention? I had GTT on Tuesday this week, getting the results at midwife appointment on Monday 19th. Oh yes, and at my 28 week appointment, she measured my fundal height at 34! OMG. Can't believe that my dates are that far out, and measurements and due date estimates have all been pretty much spot on at scans. So fingers crossed that I don't have GD, and midwife will send us for a growth scan to be sure I'm not going to have a whopper.

Hoping for a natural water birth...

Newtothisstuff · 16/03/2012 09:41

Hey girls... Eventful evening for me last night.. My 5 year old DD decided to have an almighty tantrum in the opticians which meant I had to carry her out there kicking and screaming.. This then caused 4 hours worth of contractions.. A trip to the labour ward and being strapped to a monitor for hours on end.. I was really flapping especially when she said she was going to give me steroids in case the baby was born.. The baby wasn't moving as much as they had hoped for either.. Luckily she decided to wake up and the contractions slowed down so they let me go home.. Very scary tho !! Sad

HeidiHole · 16/03/2012 10:04

Welcome langoria it sounds like you've been through the wars!

Roll on April so you can get some normality back it sounds like!

Good luck getting your GTT results back.

About the measuring, my midwife was bitching saying that the fundal height measurement is so inaccurate it's ridiculous that they have to do it. Depending on how the baby is lying can make a massive difference to your fundal height. If they baby has it legs stuck up it can push your tummy up or vice versa.

Then case in point she went on to do my fundal measurement.. this was a week after the scan showed he was spot on for dates, if anything he had quite long legs (me and DH both tall) The fundal measurement showed 20 week size and I was 24 weeks!

So I was much much too "small" (didn't feel it!) Baby has obviously just changed position because this week at 31 week measurement he measured 35 weeks, so off the chart big! My GTT came back negative and midwife confident he isn't really that big!

Have a scan in 4 weeks anyway so we'll see but I think basically don't worry about the fundal height thing!

tostaky · 16/03/2012 11:31

newtothistuff that is scary!!!! glad you are ok now! we all need to be more careful now because we are fast approaching our D-dates!!!!

i am officially nesting now - went out to buy some maternity pads + some miniature toiletries for the hospital stay (always nice to have a nice shower gel after labour!!!) and some Lasinoh cream which i cannot recommend enough for everybody who is thinking about breastfeeding

im going away for two weeks soon and when i come back home, i'll pack my hosp bag and get everything ready.

We are going o have babies soon!!!! it is exciting!!!!!

cupcakefairy · 16/03/2012 12:01

newtothis Eek how scary! Glad you're ok now, will u have to go in for more .monitoring?

Welcome langoria :) so funny how many people decide to move/do renovations while pregnant.. we moved 5 weeks before my ds was born & it was mad! Good not having to do any lifting though ;)

miko hope your move goes well and that pram is so cute! It even has a dotty rain cover!!

tostaky mini toiletries are a great tip for hospital bag :) I bought loads with ds and still have the bottles so will just refill them now

I'm v happy cos the 3 people we knew expecting have all had their babies now & nobody 'stole' any of our names.. with ds some friends named their baby our chosen name just a few weeks before he was born.. I practically cried when I found out but we still used the name as we loved it so much, just didn't want to do it again this time!

Catsycat · 16/03/2012 14:27

newtothis you must be so relieved! What a worrying few hours. Glad you are OK.

Langoria that must have been some coughing fit! Glad the physio is helping.

Heidi the fundal height measurement is a bit notorious for being wildly inaccurate - I suppose it's just a quick, cheap way to check the growth, but I bet loads of people get unnecessary scans because of it. Our notes here do mention that it is ideally done each time by the same person, as each person might measure differently. Like the student midwife last time, who tried to measure from the entrance to my fanjo Shock - made me jump a bit - she was quickly corrected by the regular mw!!!

miko sorry the SPD is still so bad. I would be very tempted to be at the house move, and just sit on a chair and supervise :). Though maybe you should take the chance to just relax (not sure which I would find more stressful TBH!).

Gah! going to post this now, as have been interrupted by 2 trips to the potty (DD2 not me), a phone call, DD2 trying to torture the cat by jabbing him with play food etc - sorry if nothing I typed makes sense.
