miko I think the 20wk scan sounds much more exciting than the fanjo cam, though of course also important to check cervix all ok etc.

Trying not to count the minutes before I can go home and try out this laxative to see if it gets things moving and takes away the pain I'm currently in oh boy...another 2.5hours til I can leave Sad seems like forever!! Pain making me feel really sick as well...just feel like such a moany so and so but it hurts!!! Know DH going to be fed up with me moaning again tonight, says he doesn't like being the 'punchball' for my emotions, but I'm afraid I see that as part of his support role Smile Might try a little walk around to the water cooler for another couple of glasses of water, that should kill a bit of time!!

Harecare · 12/12/2011 22:48

20 week scan today, desperate to know the gender and the healthy thing went all coy. Luckily it was sleeping all hunched over so the sonographer couldn't get all the measurements. Roll on 12th Jan...

Mikocat · 13/12/2011 10:20

Harecare - have they rescheduled the scan for 12th Jan then? I am convinced that's going to happen to me today too as the baby has been fairly unco-operative at my last couple of scans!

LittleSarah · 13/12/2011 15:22

Typical uncooperative little monkeys! You see now I just know this one is going to be facing the wrong way when I get my scan and I'm going to have to have the bloomin' 'it could be a girl' 'no it couldn't' argument with dh right up to birth!

Fingers crossed you get a better view next time harecare, hope yours was more successful mikocat!

Got dd's nativity/Christmas show tonight, very excited! She is an angel, in the show, not so much in real life Grin.

BlueCrane · 13/12/2011 15:34

Well...the Lactulose did the trick and it looks as though the pain was predominantly caused by trapped wind...so was expelling it like a trooper last night...didn't dare take another full dose this morning for fear of a repeat performance in the office and have been fine until this afternoon when the wind seems to be catching up with me again Blush

Sorry to hear about uncooperative beans playing peek-a-boo for scan time! I have to wait until 3rd Jan for my next one as am still only 16 weeks - due right at the end of May!

Enjoy the nativity littlesarah my best friend has just been to her DS's first nativity and said she blubbed all the way through and he was by far the bestest angel ever Grin I think every Mum has the right to say that about her DC though!!

cupcakefairy · 13/12/2011 15:41

Blue so glad u seem to have found the cause of the pain, trapped wind can be so painful so hope the stuff keeps working its magic!

miko hope scan went well, are u the first to know the flavour on the thread??

sarah enjoy the nativity!

mythical · 13/12/2011 16:41

hello everyone! 20week scan on monday and very excited, have started feeling kicks at 19wks but they are very low down, some days i feel them some days i don't.. i notice them more when i'm at my pc or lying down in bed.

still signed off work but i'm just trying to enjoy the time off.

hope everyone is doing okay

Mikocat · 13/12/2011 16:42

Hello ladies! Well the scan showed that I WAS RIGHT and it it's a girl! I knew it!

And a very wriggly little girl she is too! After about 30 minutes trying to scan her every which way, even with me lying on my side, they sent me away for half an hour to have a walk around as they just couldn't get a good look at her heart. Luckily when I came back she had calmed down (ironically they thought my over-full bladder might have been annyong her) and they were able to get the heart within seconds.

So now the serious name-googling begins, ironically DH and I were 99.9% settled on a name for a boy!

musicalmrs · 13/12/2011 16:50

Hi all!

Sorry I've been so quiet - manically busy as it's now christmas concert season!

Miko, congrats on the scan, and the wriggly little girl! :)

My scan's not until the 4th Jan - VERY annoying as

musicalmrs · 13/12/2011 16:53

....I obviously can't complete a post :S

My scan's not until the 4th (as I was saying!), annoying as I'll then be 21w+3 - would have been nice to have had it sooner, but ah well. Saw the midwife on Friday and heard the heartbeat though, which was lovely!

Hopping back to a previous conversation - the milk debate! I'm lactose intolerant, so largely avoid it, although I do have it now and again so I don't have a serious reaction if I do have it (say, accidentally when out). It seems like my intolerance is getting better during pregnancy - which apparently is quite common! Most weird. Not changing my habits too much though.

Everything good here... feeling quite achey on and off, but I think it's just bump expansion! Getting a lot of movement and some little kicks, which is lovely - nothing big enough to be felt on the outside though. Also reacting to sound - not sure whether it loved or hated the sound of my oboe students today first thing, but it was definitely one or the other!

Purestcocoa · 13/12/2011 18:41

Hi all,

Can I jump on board? I am 19w+2 and due on the 6th May with my first baby. I am also new to mumsnet. Is there anything else I should add?

:)

dreamingofanallotment · 13/12/2011 19:46

Evening all!
It's obviously the day for babies being awkward - had my 20 week scan today and although the sonographer managed to get all the measurements he needed to, baby wasn't playing ball! It was lying on its front, swizzling round - so the bloke had to press the scanner really hard onto my v. full bladder!! Eeek! We didn't want to know whether we're having a boy or a girl - I had visions of baby appearing on screen and it being really obvious it was a boy - but because of all the jiggling around, I couldn't see anything, phew!

I can't remember if I commented on the big milk debate already or not (goldfish brain...oh dear!) but having spent the past 15 years of my life tolerating milk on cereal but never ever ever wanting to drink it, I'm now glugging it back by the glassful! Current favourite is hot milk with a drizzle of honey added!

I also found out this week that a friend is expecting at the end of May which is very exciting! I'm going to try and tempt her over to mumsnet!

Hi Purestcocoa! There should be a list a few pages back that has all the stats on (due date, what number baby this is for you etc).

Congrats on the good scan Miko - happy name hunting! (I'm convinced I'm having a boy, purely because there are no boy names that me and DH both agree on - but of course there are plenty of girl's names we both like! Sod's law!)

How lovely to be getting little kicks musicalmrs - I can't wait until I start feeling them! I've been having the odd flutter but I think I need to concentrate more so I actually know what I'm feeling! You'll have to keep a record and see which instrument your little one responds to the most!

Hope the nativity went well sarah!

Glad you're feeling comfier BlueCrane - hope it carries on working well for you! Trapped wind is so uncomfortable.

Oooh I think I hear DH back - he was on his way home from work when I phoned him about dinner....I drive past a Macdonalds on my way home and baby decided it really wanted a big mac for tea..... oh dear!!

LimeFlower · 14/12/2011 11:16

Miko congrats on team pink :)
Harecare good luck for a scan, hope the atmosphere at home has improved a bit?
BlueCrane good that you got some relief.
LittleSarah enjoy the play
dreaming congrats on the scan. We're opting for surprise here either and haven't got any boys name that I like and that would go well with the surname.
musicalmrs I haven't even got the date of my scan yet :( hope my records haven't got lost somewhere on the way!

I made a veg soup the other day and will definitely won't touch the cabbage till the end of the pg (except the sauerkraut).Don't ask why!
No post on Monday and Tuesday,I'm waiting for 2 letters from the hospital-one with Down's results and the other with scan appointment date.Nada.Nuff.5 letters to DP and nothing for me.Grrrr Angry

Harecare · 14/12/2011 13:23

Thanks limeflower the atmosphere was dreadful for quite a while until suddenly on Sunday it was like a switch had been flicked and I had my dear DP back again. I have come to the conclusion that he suffers from depression, but haven't discussed that with him yet. It's fine (not) if he's in a bit of a mood and I'm not, but as I've been all hormonal and needy things got really awful.
So tired!!!
Lower back pain really kicking in, but I have a full on 5 days work away from home from Saturday that' mainly outside being very physical - arrrgh!!! Thank goodness for the Christmas holidays soon.
Miko you're so lucky to know. I didn't want to know with first 2, but this time I'm desperate!

LittleSarah · 14/12/2011 15:03

Nativity was great, thanks all! Dd lovely little angel and just so sweet, and quite funny in places. The really wee ones in particular are incredibly funny on stage. I was trying to get pics of dd with ds beforehand and he kept running out just as I pressed the button so have lots of pictures with a fuzzy little red head in the middle!

Congrats on your little lass Miko!

Harecare, I am the same, last two times happy to have a surprise but this time just want to know. Strange. Glad things are better at home, so glad he has come round! Good luck with the depression talk.

Limeflower - Sorry you are still waiting for your letters, so frustrating for you!

cupcake - Sounds like an exciting scan, think mine is a big mover too. Moved loads in first scan and feel quite a lot of movement now (for early in the pregnancy).

Purestcocoa - Hello! Welcome and congratulations!

mythical - Good luck with the scan!

musicalmrs - the one good scan about having scan post Christmas (I am 4th Jan too), or so I keep telling myself, is that it is something to look forward to when the festive fun starts to wane! I love hearing the heartbeat!

bluecrane - glad the lactulose worked, I used to care for my husband's granny and she took it, the pharmacist told me it's the best you can get!

BlueCrane · 14/12/2011 15:40

Starting to get nervous about 16w MW app tomorrow...sure everything will be fine but just don't want to get my hopes up about hearing the HB and then either them not offering to do it or not finding it if they do IYSWIM or that something else is wrong...think previous MC (even though I am waaay past the point it all went wrong last time) just makes you nervous, suspect I may not sleep so well tonight! 2.5wks until 19w scan on 3rd Jan...suspect DH and I will be nervous wrecks before that too and have to wait until 4pm again...also hoping the gender isn't obvious as we would like a suprise too!

Harecare · 14/12/2011 16:49

bluecrane - relax, it'll be fine I'm sure! x

Yorky · 14/12/2011 19:36

Glad the atmosphere has got better Harecare - I agree, 1 lot of hormones in the house at once is plenty!

Nice to have a sudden rush of scans, with a range of co-operative babies!

Had ours first thing this morning and the lady was lovely Xmas Grin - if its the last scan I get (intended to be last baby :() we went out on a high - she talked us through everything she was looking at, even to the dark little blob was baby's tummy and the lower dark blob was its bladder - and its kidneys are working cos it needs a wee!! Fascinating seeing the hear beating away, then she said its the size of a 5p piece yet we could see all the chambers and valves! She also told us what she thought it was, which wasn't what I was expecting her to say, but what I was trying not to hope for - so not sure whether to believe her and get my hopes up! Xmas Hmm

Sorry to those of you still waiting - last one was due at the end of the month and I remember how long he took to arrive after the other ladies had babies to cuddle!

Glad the lactulose has helped, I'm trusting shredded wheat atm! but am seriously considering trying to get a GP appt for Fri am to get some gaviscon and a physio referral - SPD not bad yet but I'm aware of it and know I won't get an appt until late Jan so might as well start the ball rolling sonner than later :(

Sure there were more posts I meant to reply to but brain has gone blank so going to build my new shelves in the airing cupboard cos thats the kind of exciting evening I have!!

tostaky · 14/12/2011 21:29

yorky - you are not telling us???!!!!!Shock i really want to know now i know you know!!!! but i understand if you prefer to keep it for you, after all, it is your precious baby Wink

congrats Miko! did you want a girl?

im totally trying not to dget my hopes to high as well, just in case it is another boy. because boy are greats, but this pregnancy is so different from the last two...

Limeflower - the good thing is if something had been wrong they would have called you already... so it doesnt matter too much if the letters are late

Harecare · 14/12/2011 21:37

Yorky I had SPD in past 2 pregnancies, but so far so good. Did you have it by now in past pregnancies? Do you think it could be related to gender? I'm clutching at straws here!

Yorky · 15/12/2011 10:23

That makes me feel better anyway, thanks ladies - I obviously haven't gone on too much about my guilt over having a preference as to whether I get a pink or a blue one!

As for the SPD, I don't think its gender related but more to do with my body not recovering between pregnancies, I will have been pregnant and/or breastfeeding continuously for over 5yrs by the time this one arrives so my body has far more hormones than it knows what to do with!

Gender differences in pregnancy - in my experience boys are easier, felt much worse with DD than DS1, although have been increasingly tired with each successive one, not noticed any major difference in cravings

Just to recap - is it bicarb of soda or baking powder you're supposed to wee on? what is baking soda?? am now going to do some very sad/obsessive research between different myths and mothers instinct and actual baby!!!

OP posts:
Harecare · 15/12/2011 11:45

Bicarb?? eh?
I'm hoping for a pink boy, I think I'd be afraid for/of a blue one! Grin

olittletownof · 15/12/2011 11:56

I think bicarb of soda and well reminded Yorky I want to have a go at that one before my scan tomorrow. I've been focussing so much on trying not to worry about fewer flutterings and not obsessing about worst case scenario that I forgot about the fun things . I mustn't grumble anyway as I have a girls' day out on Satuday, footloose and fancy free Smile

welcome to purestcocoa btw, another for the 6th May, it's getting very popular, slightly worried when I found out that was Tony Blair's bd, but cheered up when discovered also George Clooney's. Yes work has been slow at times.

olittletownof · 15/12/2011 12:10

whoops just chk'd upthread and it's baking powder - not googled yet though

BlueCrane · 15/12/2011 12:40

Hello all 16wk MW appointment all done! All blood results ok, blood pressure, urine etc all fine...then MW says causally 'right we'll listen to the HB then' at which point my HB must've raised in a crazy fashion thinking 'aarrgghh not sure I can deal with this' but thankfully she found beany's HB beating away pretty quickly Xmas Grin which was such a relief! Just wish DH could've been there to hear it too - he was at work.

Must get on with some work now so will do a proper catch up later...
