PamBeesly · 30/11/2011 12:55

QueenFee Isla is beautiful! Huw from Wales sounds nicer than Hugh from Wales, more authentic Wink

Kayano · 30/11/2011 12:56

I like Keira and did consider it but we know a little Keira. Well I do, DH doesn't :D

QueenFee · 30/11/2011 12:56

I love Eden! Its so pretty. My sister was going to call her last child Keira :) but he was a boy!

Kayano · 30/11/2011 12:59

I love Ioan Grin is Isla.
DH vetoed Eden as did my mum lol! Apparently they think of 'garden of Eden' and then they think of lady Garden, and they don't want people to be thinking of a little girls bits Hmm
Been reading too much Canterbury tales me thinks. Stupid wife of Bath

PamBeesly · 30/11/2011 13:05

I think Elise, Amelia, Beatrice all sound lovely with your surname Kayano.

EsmeWeatherwax · 30/11/2011 13:17

Liking all the names mentioned, normally I'm really awful for names, lol, hate so many of them!

Monkey, I've never bonded with a bump, pregnancy is much too much of an arse of a thing. I loathe it so much! Always got excited about buying baby things, lol, but that's just cos I like spending money! Have never had the slightest problems bonding with either of the dd's though. One muzzle at their wee fuzzy heads and I was hooked! It comes eventually to us all!

Sugar80 · 30/11/2011 13:17

I don't think I'm particulary bonded to the bump. I quite like it, and it's movements amuse and irritate me in equal measure... much like someone else's puppy. It's still an it, despite knowing thee's a baby girl in there, but if I think too hard about the actual reality I get scared. Much better to think in the abstract for now...

Names.. I think we're decided on Phoebe Jane. I don't really like the name Jane, mainly because it's DP's mum's name, but it works nicely with Phoebe and I can't think of anything better. It also means she can be called PJ, and I can get her a little Jack Russell which we can call Duncan.... DP is calling the bump Pheebs.

If she doesn't look like a Phoebe, then Seren (my choice) and Willow (DP's choice, not too sure) are the others on the shortlist.

I really like Lewis - it was on my boy's list. Also like Jacob and Huw. Hugh sounds too rah for me, lol!

littlemonkeybix · 30/11/2011 14:03

Thanks ladies... I feel a little better knowing that not everyone is wildly in love with their bumps from day one... I think I'm still not getting the whole reality bit yet with my head still quite far into the sand!

It doesn't help that DP is a closed book too. I was amazed that I actually got an apology of sorts with regards to last weekend!! I think the only ever time I have seen any emotions from him was

  1. when we got together (long winded story of not being together for a year if you catch my drift Wink then finally agreeing to be "going out" with me!)
  2. when he proposed
  3. I expect when pip pops out... he might show SOME?! Hmm
  4. if we ever get to the Ghibli museum like we keep talking about for honeymoon!! Grin

I think I have been feeling guilty of not bonding. Then I kind of blame the placenta.... hhmmmm...

Anyway, roll on hometime... I want a nap!

CoffeeOne · 30/11/2011 14:08

monkey I didn't bond with baby at all until I found out he was a he. It was actually starting to worry me but as soon as the sonographer said boy I fell in love. My son! Don't worry, it will come!

I've been reluctant to post names on here as I really don't want to be identified (so I can have a right good rant and also because of my job), same reason I haven't joined the FB group, but I want to play! So hopefully no one is spying on me....

We're calling out little boy Finlay :) I'm so in love with this name and I can't wait to meet my little Fin! Sugar we were having Willow if baby had been a little girl I think it's a lovely name. Strong yet gentle at the same time if you know what I mean.

QueenFee · 30/11/2011 15:16

Finlay is a great name ;)

Loving Willow and Seren. Now i'm starting to doubt my girls name. Ahh can't do that it's hard enough getting one name out of DH!

BillComptonstrousers · 30/11/2011 15:36

Think we are having Lucy Seren, dh's dad is welsh, hence the seren, I had never heard of it before last month but really liked it, now I have seen about 4 in the last 2 weeks!

deardear · 30/11/2011 15:44

Have a friend with a baby son called Huw and although i didnt like it to start with it really suits him and its a real 'grower' of a name.

Kayano my DD2 is Sophie - she is nuts, full of life, clever, pretty and always thinks of others and is a joy. Easily controllable even with the hormones which are starting to rage and basically the life and soul of the party. She is 11. DH had no choice when it came to naming her as he chose the name of Kathryn our first. That said he isnt having much choice in this one either other than he wants his name in there as a second name.

Hope everyone picks up soon and throws the depression out the window. A good walk is always a good one to snap you out of it for those that are able to still walk a bit. Hopefully we will get some crisp sunny winters days soon so we can have a bit of sunshine to cheer us up as this dull damp weather doesnt help at all.

Failing that do what innocent has done - go for chocolate. Really sending her all good vibes atm with all the crap she has going on :( xx

babycarmen · 30/11/2011 18:06

I love Eden, i want it as a middle name for Halle but DP vetoed it along with every other name i like, he does like Seren though which i think is gorgeous, not sure it goes with Halle though. For middle names i like Amelie, Alyssa, Evelyn (great grandmother), Imogen and Rosalie but DP just will not settle for any.

I helped out at DDs nursery today making tree decorations, but i am so tired i couldnt eat dinner and i am having trouble concentrating on what im saying right now! Im SURE the iron tablets are making me extra tired Hmm maybe im just at that stage! Having a 4 yr old certainly doesnt help! I fell asleep in the bath last night and almost fell asleep on the bus today.

Im going to tidy up then die on the sofa!

littlemonkeybix · 30/11/2011 18:09

I am a big fan of Evelyn.. It's a reserve name for if/when we try again if we get 2DDs Grin

babycarmen · 30/11/2011 18:10

Oh AND just to make me feel worse, im sure the sonographer bruised my ribs yesterday, it is REALLY sore on the right side where she was scanning :( sulk

OddEyes · 30/11/2011 22:49

Gtt and growth scan tomorrow. Hoping to avoid bruised ribs. Lucazade makes me retch.
Names: Beatrice, Harriet, Georgette, Xanthe, Naomi. Probably none of them in end though, as our children have been left unnamed for as long as 2 weeks.

woowa · 30/11/2011 23:01

oh names names names.

Still don't have any here... still not thinking about it til after the birth when we HAVE to choose one, and know what sex it is!! Had scan today and sonographer said "he" once. But i think it was the same sonographer who said "he" at one of my (many) previous scans. So I'm sort of assuming it's a boy, but not telling DH that, and still sort of hoping it's a girl. Last time I really DIDN't want a girl, and got DD and was thrilled. This time I would like a girl, so I imagine it is a boy, and i'll be thrilled.

Monkey - i wouldn't worry about not bonding, as someone said above, it'll happen at some point. At the moment the baby is just an idea (albeit one who kicks you and keeps you awake at night) rather than an actual person - you've no idea what sort of personality it has or what it looks like, so it is hard to bond! I feel very little about it - very exicited to be so close to meeting it, but really, i don't know it in the same way as I'm getting to know DD, so it is hard to bond.

Off on hols for a week tomorrow, got a mammoth amount of packing to do before leaving the house at 9.30...so will sign off now. Might be able to get on line at MIL's once we get there on monday.

ps what is ghibli?

Kayano · 01/12/2011 11:35

Studio Ghibli is a Japanese animation studio that made such gems as Princess Mononoke, Spirited away (which got an Oscar) and howls moving castle among many others. (Totoro, Kiki's delivery service, Nausicca, Earthsea)

Kayano · 01/12/2011 11:37

I need a shower but I'm currently terrified about how absolutely freezing I will be once I get out
Lol

I'm such a smelly minging chicken lol.

Blush

resolve I'm going. Wish me luck

CoffeeOne · 01/12/2011 12:05

woowa have a lovely holiday!

kayano unless you have company today I wouldn't bother Grin it is getting cold now isn't it. But yay for December! Babies here month after next!

I was up being sick last night Confused either morning sickness has returned or I ate something dodgy. I'm a bit concerned it's the latter. Midwife appointment tomorrow so I'll have a chat with her.

It's a shame I'm sicky as I'm going out for a lovely meal tonight - mine and DP's parents are meeting each other for the first time! Eek! We've been together for 3 years and own a home together but they've never crossed paths. I'm quite nervous as my mum can be quite opinionated and my dad has a very dry sense of humour that not everyone gets. Argh!

Good luck!

I've definitely bonded with this bump. I didn't bond with DS until about 24 hours after he was born - I was too bowled over by giving birth to focus on him. But once I was up on the ward and everyone else had gone away, I had a lovely time gazing at him partly in wonder and partly in terror. With dd I was scared that I couldn't love anyone as much as I loved ds, but she was so cross and purple and squidgy when she was born that it was love at first sight! I love this one already - maybe that's part of the reason I'm bricking it about things going wrong...

I have work this afternoon. I've lost my work mojo and would rather stay in bed with my laptop. Only 3 more Thursday afternoon sessions to go...

Dec 1st, everyone! Need to focus on Christmas!

littlemonkeybix · 01/12/2011 12:19

Good luck coffee

THanks again for the words of wisdom... I was kind of hoping that was the case, but I felt so abnormal about not really feeling the love! It's something I have wanted since I was 20... and I'm 32... so I think it's still waaaay to unreal to connect with. Still a bit of a dream!!

Anyway... DP will be sorting more of our room this weekend... he promised!! I will hold him to that promise!! Grin

Watch this space!

babycarmen · 01/12/2011 12:36

Ive bonded more with this baby i think because we planned her, DD1 was a surprise. After going through all the TTC stuff, tracking ovulation (waste of time - i apparently ovulated WAY early), the 2 week wait, endless preg tests, getting our hopes up then trying again month after month, when we finally got a positive we were so excited and i think that helped me bond this time. Although to be honest i didnt really bond with DD1 until she was about 6 months old because of PND. I wont go into that but it was horrible! Ive been given a community nurse with this pregnancy to help me when baby comes to make sure i dont go the same way, i think il be fine though i feel really positive about it :)

My SPD is playing up today so i kept DD home from nursery, i want to rest because were going christmas shopping tomorrow then doing an ASDA shop so il be on my feet all day.

Once again im SO TIRED but the ironing pile keeps calling my name and its more of a mountain then a pile right now :( gah.

Finally got to the hospital about my leg and back Sad

Well I wasted everyone's time! It was all my fault! Bad posture, lying the wrong way, sitting up the wrong way, subconsciously tensing when I walk! Blush oh dear. It's not even one bad habit I need to change its my whole self!

It's pretty hard to 'just relax man' (exact words from Geordie doctor) when you suffer from anxiety and are in a constant state of 'tense' Sad

D'oh!

EsmeWeatherwax · 01/12/2011 17:22

Well, had my appointment at the diabetic clinic today, wasn't bad, my fasting levels are just slightly elevated, so I have to take my blood sugar levels for a week and then have another clinic next week to discuss the results. And don't have any purely sugary things, like sweets or sugary drinks. I'm fine with giving sweeties and chocolate a miss, but can't cope without coke and sweet coffee and tea! I hate the diet versions too, they make me feel incredibly ill! So guess it will be water for me, and sugarless tea and coffee. Only 7.5 weeks to go though!
