and finally - expert gave big shrug and said I can carry on with my pills if I want, though they'd recommend alternatives. Other stuff all fine. So feeling back to being a bit more looking forward to baby rather than OMG I'm poisoning my child.

Last time I was ecstatic but also disbelieving that I'd actually end up with a baby of my own - I think it was around day 3 that I was hit by a huge knowledge of MINE! and knowing I would do anything to look after this child. Which manifested as finally escaping hospital and both of us crying in tandem on my bed as milk squirted everywhere, soaking the sheets, and me saying "sorry poppet, life outside is a bit shit really... it should get better..."

It got better within a couple days, luckily. :)

Oh no, worst baby brain ever! Just missed my year 7 parent's evening. Feel so bad. They won't have missed seeing one of their science teachers if they really wanted as I only have them 2/6 in a fortnight, she won't be happy though. Wonder if this is going to be a big issue on Monday. Thing is I don't work today and yesterday school was closed and I spent the day at the hospital and my husband forgot too, him coming home would have reminded me and, and I'm pregnant!!!! Oh pants!!!!

Baby brain was in action right from the start today. Late to hospital as forgot to set alarm. During GTT gave daughter a carton of juice and absent mindedly drank the first wee bit so as it wouldn't spill. Didn't tell the phlebotomist though as she was rather dragon like. Hoping not going to effect the result?

Scan was great, nice to see her again, is still a girl. She is big, 80th percentile and lady warned we haven't even got to the growth session yet. She is breech too with feet up at face which explains her movement today.

Bonding- not for a day or so with ds but he got very ill with jaundice, we got a side room to ourselves and given one night before they took him away to baby unit and realised then how much I loved him. Dd took longer, we didn't get so much time on our own.
Still in denial to a fair extent with this wee one, but today was nice to see her, so we will see.

NC glad you got the experts opinion and peace about it.

Squiglett hope you can rest up well and be better soon.

Right to bed, kids have worn me out and feeling bad about this school thing; hoping it will all feel better in morning. Hope everyone has a peaceful night.

OMG not been on here for well over a week and not only are there pages and pages to catch up on but the topics disappeared from my most recent Shock I will have to go back tommorow and read through it all

Quick catch up....All recovered after that UTI thank god. Bloody horrible stuff, was black and blue all over my tummy and ribs afterwards from where I had been bent double in pain and needed the best part of a week just to catch up on some sleep cos it was bloomin exhausting stuff.

Had my Anti D jab today. Now needles don't bother me, i've regularly donated blood, i've got a tattoo that took over 3 hours i've had piercings. But sweet JESUS that jab HURTS ad they don't warn you either, think the mw could tell I was starting to panic. I left the room feeling very dazed and I think the bottom lip was going :( Quick question though, i asked if i needed to make an apt for the next on and she said there weren't any more to have?! Could of sworn you had one at 34 weeks to.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand 28 week midwife check tommorow. It is all going on! WOOP

Kayano · 01/12/2011 22:09

I've got a 32 week appointment and then 34 week appointment

ZhenXiang · 01/12/2011 22:24

Was very bonded to DD1 in the womb, but she was my first so every new kick, bulge or bump was exciting. Didn't truly bond until we were alone in hospital that first night, hours after the birth as the epidural had made my arms all floppy and until it wore off I wasn't really functioning fully and was still in shock after failed ventouse, forceps and then EMCS.

This time round I am more chilled out about kicks and bumps, but am hoping that if I can VBAC I will be much more bonded to DD2 when she pops out.

QueenFee · 01/12/2011 22:37

They have changed anti d frequency here with each pregnancy. Current practice 28 weeks then post birth is cord blood shows +
Otherwise to go in and get checked of you fall, have an accident or have any bleeding vaginally. They have given me 1000 iu and top up with 20iu if needed because of the aforementioned event.
Mine wasn't as painfull this time, she got me to cough as she jabbed me. Postnatally I have always been given the jab in my bum cheek didn't hurt there!

Kayano · 01/12/2011 23:21

Funnily enough my anti D did not hurt either apart from the initial prick. But the anxiety and fear of it still left me sobbing for nigh on 10 minutes BlushSmile

Every time it's like I have never had one before Sad it seemed to takeAGES before all the fluid went in my arm though and the mw was saying 'nearly done' trying to soothe me. All I could think was nearly done my arse!

melliebobs · 02/12/2011 09:17

I'm beginning to wonder why they even bother issuing bloomin appointments Hmm

Yesterday my appointment was the first one of the session. 35 mins till I was seen. Today I took a 9am appt cos it's the first one n shouldn't disrupt my working day too much. Aaaaand I'm still here

littlemonkeybix · 02/12/2011 11:27

My appointments at the GPs is always good... my appointments at the hospital run over every time... by an hour-ish.

Just worked out, not including today, I have 42 days left in work. That isnt including my leave which I have dotted about too!! its aaaaaaaaaaaaages away! I know it'll be here in a flash though!

hope we're all well today... no one still suffereing with sickies etc?! I feel a little sinusey, but generally OK Smile

pinkhollie · 02/12/2011 11:36

At home feeling very miserable had to get a doctors appnt this morning as have terrible piles Blush I hate going to the doctor's at the best of times as i always feel like i'm wasting their time. The GP's at our surgery also don't have the best bedside manner. Turned out I wasn't being a wimp as am being sent to the hospital for surgery at 3. At least I think that's what's happening the GP just gave me a sealed letter & said the hospital would ring they rang the moment I walked in the door and gave me a ward and time and that was it. Not sure if they'll do something today or if I'll need to stay in or what? I feel scared and confused and wish I could have been more assertive and asked more questions. Sad

ZhenXiang · 02/12/2011 12:39

Oh poor you pinkhollie, I have them too, but no where near as bad. I have got an appt in a week when I will ask GP for meds.

They are terrible when really bad, mine were much worse after DD's birth. I think you need to ask the hospital when they phone for more information on what the procedure will entail and recovery time. Also for ways to manage them should they occur again as pushing during labour and constipation during later pregnancy can make them worse.

When mine were really bad after DD I ate 1/2 bag raw spinach a day + drank lactulose + germoloids cream exterior + anusol and paracetamol pessarys. Also drinking lots of water is good too. I am eating spinach again this time around plus using cream, but will be getting the whole package next week just in case. Also when constipated putting vaseline on anus before passing stool or using glycerol pessaries can help (just don't use glycerol too often during pregnancy and only on Gp's advice).

pinkhollie · 02/12/2011 18:14

Thanks Zhen had a lovely doctor at the hospital who made me feel so much better. Turned out I didn't need any surgery today but what he did do was treat me like the intelligent person I am (2:1 in Biology from a Russell group universityGrin) by actually talking to me and answering all my questions without any patronising. I'd left the GP's in tears and left the hospital giggling. I'll definitely follow the rest of your advice for prevention though as that was also worrying me. I realised that if they were bad now at 29+3 they could get a lot worse later on. It has now made me quite concerned about labour and the aftermath as I'd been pretty blasé about it all until now.

OddEyes · 02/12/2011 18:57

Sad so got a call about my blood glucose, appt on Monday before my consultant appt to get devises etc for testing. Just another reason for them to insist on caesarian. Am so upset. Mellibobs was it you in the same boat a week back or so?

Anti D, had mine at 25 after fall, mW seemed to think would still have 28, but find out on Monday. Mine was fine at 25. Depends on person doing it.

OddEyes · 02/12/2011 18:57

Piles, I have a bunch of grapes!!!

deardear · 02/12/2011 18:58

can i ask a really silly question? what is an anti D injection? sure i didnt have one with either of the DD's but that was many many (12) moons ago.

GTT next week so they may speak about it then i suppose. Have MW on Tuesday as well.

Oh and I love lucozade so happy about that :)

rnbsmum · 02/12/2011 19:14

deardear - don't worry. You only need anti-D if like me, and it seems loads of others bus peeps, you are rhesus negative. You get a jab at 28 weeks (or if you have a bleed or incident where bleeding might be caused internally) and again after the birth of your baby if your baby is rhesus positive. I needed it after DD who is O+ but not with DS who is B-. If you are Oneg you get inundated if you give blood as we're the universal blood type so can go to anybody, but even having given blood loads the anti-D jab is none to pleasant!! x

Kayano · 02/12/2011 19:39

I am O negative Hmm

What does that mean? Are they going to ask me to give blood?! Because if they called me about that I may go bat shit crazy. Blush
I would like to if I could but the panic attacks just mean it is not an option. (I have a donor card to make up for this in some twisted convoluted way)

melliebobs · 02/12/2011 20:37

oddeyes no that wasn't me I don't think. I just had a uti that the midwife said would be indigestion and to crack on!

kayano if you're Rh negative you'll need the anti d jab around 28 weeks. Some places give it at 32-34 aswell and possibly again after birth depending what blood group the baby is.

Found out today where I live you only get it at 28 weeks and post birth. I've never been so happy! Finally got to see the mw today. 45 mins late which was annoying. Baby has been transverse for the past month with it's head firmly wedges in the side of my pelvis/hip. Proper laid back baba!

rnbsmum · 02/12/2011 20:46

Kayano, the Blood Donor people won't find out you're Oneg but if you ever go along to donate and you are then on their system then you get inundated with calls and letters encouraging you to donate. Always makes me feel very important - small things eh?! Xmas Grin

OddEyes · 02/12/2011 21:52

Sorry yes was esme I think? Not very proficient at reading thread on phone.

Kayano · 02/12/2011 22:05

I've already had the anti D but it was the nagging to give blood that was concerning me lol

QueenFee · 02/12/2011 23:29

yeah problem is if your anything like me, I have only given blood once. Since then I have either been pregnant or in the no give months after birth.Apart from a few short months which with small kids I never got round to it. I will after this baby go again. Is it still minimum 6 months after birth or 9?
This btw for the record IS MY LAST BABY!
I cannot do this again and if you ever hear a broody comment from me hit me over the head to knock some sense in to me! Grin

Kayano · 02/12/2011 23:43

I want one more after this baby and that's it for me. I have not
Enjoyed it, get to anxious and just hate myself when pg.

I am an adopted only child though so want a sibling for this one.

I am at my mum and dads and dad has never felt her kick before, and she won't bloody do it now. Think my dad was pretty gutted as he is the only one not
To have felt a kick yet.

He is so excited its a real pleasure to see. They have never had a newborn in family with me being adopted. Grin awwwww

EsmeWeatherwax · 03/12/2011 00:04

Hi oddeyes, it was me that's got the blood sugar monitoring stuff, started it today. Sugars have been absolutely fine so far, tbh, I'm a bit Hmm about it all, was over their limits by such a small amount! I don't think it automatically means a cs, they will scan you more though, to measure baby's growth and take it from there. I'm having an elcs anyway so can't really speak with any authority there!

I was just told to avoid the more obvious Sugars, sweets, chocolate, sugary drinks etc, and that seems to be working out ok so far. The actual testing is pretty easy and painless!
