SORRY - hoping everyone else is OK too.... Such an addled brain today!

Home time!

hermionejgranger · 22/11/2011 18:47

Xavielli hope you're feeling better soon

Do you all get public/privilege holidays accrue while you're on maternity leave? I miss out on accrual of those although I do get annual leave accrue. Bit gutted because of the extra day next year for the Jubilee...

phlossie · 22/11/2011 19:08

Let us know you're ok now, Xavielli - must have been very scary.

I also had a midwife appointment. My midwife is lush! She's just want you want from a midwife and a laugh too! She had a feel, but couldn't find the baby's head and work out the lie - she assured me that my baby has got a head Grin.

I'm measuring spot on, and good blood pressure etc. Had bloods taken for iron levels, and have midwife on the case for physio. Heard the heartbeat too! Brilliant!

I've also been sorting out mat leave. Sugar is right:

SMP = 6 weeks @ 90% pay

  • 33 weeks @ SMP rate
  • 13 weeks unpaid.

After that, you're employer isn't obliged to hold your job for you, though they do have to give you a smiliar level job.

I'm having about 42 weeks starting Jan 16th - it's just the way my terms work out. I reckon baby will be mostly off the boobs by then!

had aquanatal this morning, different midwife, much better workout = completely exhausted today! Also did loads of tidying while DD was asleep, which means I am fit to drop now! Hoping to sleep well now ALL night long. Love aquanatal though, feel so much better afterwards!!

30 weeks today too! 8 til the sweep...eeeeek!

ZhenXiang · 22/11/2011 21:47

Just caught up

Wow Pam - glad you are ok now, that must have been very scary.

Mellie glad they got to the root of the problem. I had never had one before either until a few months ago when peeing became a little painful, so I put half a teaspoon of bicarb of soda in a pint of water and drank that several times a day for a few days and it cleared up. I also cut back on sugary foods and drinks too.

Xavelli glad you are ok after your scare too. It is easy to overdo it when you have other kids to entertain. On the headlice front, I swear by Neem oil. You can add a few drops to your regular shampoo and conditioner to keep lice at bay once you have treated as they hate the smell. The pure oil can be used as a treatment first to get rid of the initial infestation. I work with kids and have managed to avoid getting headlice this way.

Babycarmen chase those results tomorrow if they don't contact you, better to know for sure rather than worrying about it.

Am 26+1 today, haven't seen a midwife yet to be measured as next appointment with them 34 weeks, but looked at photos of my bump with DD and I am a lot bigger for my dates.

Can really relate to the aches and pains, I am getting sciatica and dead legs from sleeping on my side.

Also managed to pull muscles and ligaments in lower bump getting off bed too quickly the other day.

Baby is still rotating between transverse and head down from what I can feel, but not a lot of room in there so feels like my insides are rearranging every time she does it.

Not totally falling apart though, at least I was still able to do silly dancing around the room to 'the lion sleep tonight' with DD (2.5) this evening Grin

Hope everyone else is ok.

Kayano · 23/11/2011 08:56

Sitting in office reception waiting for a taxi to take me home. Think I have a bug. Been sick 4 times in 2 days.

I'm also scared that I might have that diabetes thing because I have a lot of the symptoms. However the symptoms I should imagine are quite common to most pregnancies anyway Sad

hermionejgranger · 23/11/2011 09:30

Oh no Kayano - hope you feel better soon - have a couple of days off and rest!

Kayano · 23/11/2011 09:42

I'm scared because my boss asked if it was pg related and I said I didn't know as I hadn't really had morning sickness as such etc

So he put it down as bug/ flu so now I'm scared I could get a disciplinary Sad

I'm going to lie down now.

littlemonkeybix · 23/11/2011 10:24

Kayano Always say yes to "is it PG related"!! Unless it's obviously not WinkGrin

I got my duvet day on Monday due to PG.... but honestly, I have always struggled with sleep until this PG which has knocked me out.... so in my heart I knew it was old fashioned insomnia Wink Of course it COULD have been PG making it so bad... but if I wasn't PG I would have gone to work and coped with the dizzies. As it was... I got some telly time, and a nap, and a rest!

littlemonkeybix · 23/11/2011 10:24

Hope you feel better soon x

babycarmen · 23/11/2011 11:14

Think i must have slept funny last night and stretched something. Got the most awful pain under my right boob at the top of my ribs. So sore! Dont know what ive done :/ :(
Does anyone else get cramp in their legs with being pregnant? I think its quite common. Ive started getting cramp in my legs when i stretch in the night and oh my word it hurts! Just another pregnancy joy Grin

Didnt want to get out of bed this morning. Got to sleep about 1am. Early night tonight i think!
Hope everyone is ok today, Kayano - hope you feel better!

Is it wrong that today I have eaten (amongst other things) a pack of cadbury buttons, and 3 twirls?! Blush

phlossie · 23/11/2011 16:29

Glad I'm not the only chocoholic! I had to fill in a form for chiropractor, which included a section on diet - I put down none to coffee, 1 cup of tea, no alcohol... all virtuous so far... and then chocolate - I had to write 'lots'!

Is anyone else losing their appetite? I'm just not that hungry at the moment - I feel full all the time (and I look it). I is plumpin'.

Men are working on our house, which is total chaos. DCs and I have found a corner of the sofa we can squeeze on to watch a DVD!

mummymccar · 23/11/2011 16:55

Kayano - hope you feel better soon!

babycarmen - a little bit of cramp here too, though not too bad so far. I got hardly any sleep last night though because we had a call from a withheld number at 4am (bastards) which scared the life outta me, waking up baby in the process, who proceeded to kick me in the ribs over and over until 6. Was in so much pain that I wanted to scream at times.

littlemonkeybix - Wait, is that not a normal diet????

plossie - yes, losing my appetite here too. Especially at lunchtimes. I actually feel sick if I look in the cupboard so now just grazing on fruit instead.

Just to let everyone know - Amazon Black Friday have some great deals this week on baby things. Prams, etc. I've just bought a manual breast pump starter kit and 6 tommee tippee closer to nature bottles for less than £30! Going to buy the microwave steriliser when it's up in an hour too! The back to nature range are perfect for if you are planning to breastfeed and express.

They've also got a gorgeous Beatrix Potter boxed set for £49.99 too - bought one for the baby bean yesterday.

littlemonkeybix · 23/11/2011 17:19

mummy yes it is a normal diet... but I am talking extra Wink

I had my brekkie.... then got the scoffs so had 2 packsof buttons.. and a banana

Then I had lunch (early) of cuppasoup and dippy dairylea butty (such a classy gal me!) followed by weight watchers hulahoops, a twirl, half a melon (i anticipated the hunger !!) then another twirl!

Afternoon snack.... 2nd banana abd 3rd twirl! hahah!

I can FEEL my backside growing!

Gonna change my name to Tatty McFatty Blush

littlemonkeybix · 23/11/2011 17:20

Oh... and my box of melon... someone thought I had brought in a box of boiled potatoes!! ahhaha!

PamBeesly · 23/11/2011 17:59

Kayano I hope you feel better and get a good rest, try not to worry about work.

Babycarmen I have seriously sore ribs, always at the right side too, I try yoga stretches but they do not help, I think its my uterus stretching, it might be something else but its not so awful that I can't manage. Also I read that leg cramps can be alleviated by eating bananas, something about potassium (according to dr.Google)

Littlemoney I can beat you on the food front, today I had: deep fried goats cheese salad, drenched in olive oil, lots of brown pumpkin bread with so much salty butter, 3 sausage rolls, half a bounty, a galaxy bar....I didn't even have dinner yet, think I'll just have fruit Grin

diedandgonetodevon · 23/11/2011 18:30

yy to amazon lighting deals, lots of baby bits if you haven't already got them. I've got a stroller- even though I had decided I didn't need a new one but I hate the old, ridiculously expensive travel system we had for DS, some beautiful Ukala boots which I ordered about 6pm last night and arrived 1st thing this morning (on free delivery- was verr over-excited about that!), some earrings and have my eye on an iPhone dock later on...'tis fatal

Had my first agonising leg cramp of this pregancy. Had forgotten quite how nasty a way to be woken it was!

Have also gone off food a fair bit, there just is not room in there for a big meal so have been grazing fairly healthily. Really hope this means that I come out of this without a huge weight gain- really haven't gained anything but a fairly neat bump this time. Going to try hard to keep it that way as last time I used pregnancy as carte blanche to eat whatever I wanted and put on a fair bit which I shifted, plus a bit extra, but I don't really want to see it back.
Having said that, DH is away so have just made myself beans on toast with cheese on top for supper Hmm

QueenFee · 23/11/2011 18:57

Just sold the pram!
The one I bought for the car but didn't like. I also sold some nappies so now I can start the hunt again for a car pram.
However popped into the local pram store and I may struggle to find something that fits.

Todays irritating symptom dizzyness and pins and needles :(

I don't eat much chocolate but shed loads of cheeeeeese mmmmmmm....

phlossie · 23/11/2011 20:15

I'm such a fatty fatty-arse bum-bum.

Bowl of fruit n fibre, latte (decaff, natch), toast and honey, cheese and pickle sarnie, 1/2 pack of mini cheddars, slice of australian crunch, and - don't laugh at my dinner - potato alphabet shapes, omlette and green beans, and a clementine.

I've piled on weight. Again. My bump is huge, really huge, my boobs are huge and I've gone up at least one dress size on my bum and thighs.

woowa · 23/11/2011 20:21

cramp - try not to point your toes in bed, instead when you stretch out your legs, keep your toes up towards your front calf - you know, like "Bad toes" in ballet, not "good toes". Getting out of bed as soon as you can and standing on the floor makes the cramp go, although i always still ache the next day. I think it's a normal part of pregnancy.

Baby has done some MEGA wriggles today, it's like having an octopus in my belly. Hope it's still head-down. Have a scan in a week's time *number 8 i think) so hoping it hasn't flipped back upwards - i think it's only after 34 weeks that it's a concern, so we'll see at christmas!!

I am also partial to sugary foods, but also struggling to fit in lots of normal food, much smaller portions than usual. Right, to Grand Designs xx

CoffeeOne · 23/11/2011 20:55

Kayano and Xav hope you feel better soon Thanks

I'm a sugar monster too, and I have my GTT on Monday Confused I spent the 1st 20 weeks hating food so I'm making up for it now! I've gained 10lbs so far so not worrying too much about generous helpings and sweet treats :)

Another one with leg cramp here, good advice from woowa about the 'bad toes' it really does help.

Sooooo close to the 3rd trimester...

CoffeeOne · 23/11/2011 20:56

although despite gaining a reasonably small amount of weight, people still delight in telling me how massively huge I am and how I'm going to have some sort of giant baby Angry

flapjack77 · 23/11/2011 20:56

I seem to be eating the contents of our fridge and cupboards...cereal, toast, fruit, cheese n ham sarnie, choc, yoghurt, crisps, wine gums, more cheese, cup a soup. No wonder I've put on so much weight.

My excuse for being a pig today is cos my back has been agony and I needed comfort food. Woke up hardly able to stand up straight...only got through the day knowing I was seeing the chiropractor this afternoon anyway. She reckoned it was down to baby stretching/pushing too much in the wrong direction! Really hope bubs doesn't do it again!

babycarmen · 23/11/2011 21:13

I will remember the toe thing, thanks woowa!
I dont really like bananas, what else has potassium? Grin

Ive been eating LOADS of biscuits and chocolate and crap basically. I keep saying i need to eat better but never do Blush Its probably not helping how rubbish i feel either. I promise i will eat better.. there its in writing on MN so i have to! :) Ive also been very naughty and had 2 hot chocolates with squirty cream on top today.. bad babycarmen!!

Ive put on so much weight its disgusting. Managed to avoid stretchmarks so far, minus a couple on each hip! I didnt get any on my stomach with DD so hoping i dont this time, although i dont really care that much if i do :)

I am SO tired so off to bed i go. Probably wont actually sleep til midnight as usual mind you...
