Well what a rigmarole that was! Didn't get a scan. Boooooo Angry but hooked up to a fetal monitor and pip is all ok. Having a whale of a time, wriggling around like a don't know what and completely oblivious to the pain n suffering they are causing on the outside! Typical. But it's ok and that's the main thing.

I on the other hand have a water infection and suffering for it cos I left it a week before being checked out. Got a telling off for leaving it so long so now feel a bit daft. But I've never had one before and when me and DH had a takeaway I thought I just had an upset tummy and then having my flu jab at the end of the week I thought the fever was a side effect of that! So no wonder I left it. But never again! I've never felt pain like it any symptoms like that again I'm getting checked out.

I'm glad I've got to the bottom of it and it can be fixed. Putting up with this pain for another 4-5 days I'm not so. But hey ho!

EsmeWeatherwax · 21/11/2011 18:32

Glad you're fixed Mellie, hope you're feeling much better soon, dh had a water infection at the weekend too, so you definitely have his sympathy!

Bubs has turned round I think, my tummy felt like it was being ravaged by a particularly vicious washing machine this afternoon. My first kicks in the ribs! The joy!

I am sooo craving a donner kebab right now, lol, had one on saturday and it was just fantastic, desperate for another one tonight! God, something I would never normally eat unless my stomach was well lined with vodka first!

CoffeeOne · 21/11/2011 19:45

Poor Mellie :( glad you're getting fixed and pip is doing ok!

I'm so fed up of work. Stressssssss. I want to be a new mummy snuggled up at home with my little dudeman with nothing else to think about. Tick tock tick tock.

OH! and I'm fed up of everyone telling me how big I am. I've had 3 'are you sure it isn't twins?!' comments. I'm not even that big! I'm 5'2 and have a nice round MEASURING ON TRACK belly. I think people think February is ages away so assume I'm only 4 months gone or something Angry

AND my darling little boy keeps kicking me really hard in the fanjo! OW!

Ok I'm done.

phlossie · 21/11/2011 20:00

Me too, coffeeone - annoying, isn't it!

My SPD has kicked in, but it did this last time and didn't continue to the end of pregnancy.

I have midwife tomorrow (1st time in 12 weeks!) and I'm pretty sure baby is breech at the moment - I get a hoof in the foof and a headbutt in the ribs at the same time. I love what you said, hermione - my baby seems to have a kung fu day and then three or so tai-chi days! Today was kung fu and I was away that he/she was moving all day long.

Glad you're sorted, mellie! I'm really relieved for you - I didn't want to scare you before you got sorted out, but my friend had her baby at 29 weeks because of a urinary infection that she left untreated. (Her baby is now a boisterous 4 yo).

woowa · 21/11/2011 21:14

yep, 3rd trimester! Lots of aches and pains and stress and wishing baby was here!! I certainly do. I hit 30 weeks tomorrow!!!! people commenting on my bump too, but it's fine, because it has suddenly got massive!! And it has ten weeks to go. Must be all the chocolate...

Absolutely shattered, starting to wonder how i'm going to cope with sleepless newborn, and thinking I should probably slowly start getting house in order because at the moment another person in the house is going to be a nightmare...eek.

got lots of christmas shopping done today, trying to do it in little bits while DD is asleep after lunch, as it's a nightmare going to the shops with her!!

Right, v sleepy, need to go. xxx

flapjack77 · 21/11/2011 22:15

Evening everyone, pam and mellie glad to hear your feeling better. Apologies to anyone else re personals but preg brain has def kicked in and can't remember what I had for breakfast most days...managed to melt one of our kitchen knives to the hob earlier! House stinks of melted plastic...d'uh!

My parents were over for the night and we showed them the house we're in the process of buying, it got my mums seal of approval, she said that if it they could get the same house for the price we've agreed where they live she'd move immediately (they're wanting to downsize but houses more expensive). We were hoping to be in before Christmas but due to a cock up by the developers (tis a new build) it'll prob be January. Grrr. Just hoping lil un doesn't decide to arrive early!

I'm with everyone on feeling shattered all the time, swimming with DS today and all I've wanted to do since we got home is veg on the sofa, so it's g'night from me!

melliebobs · 22/11/2011 10:41

Ok I think I've come across a psychic midwife. Just read through my notes from yesterday's outing. And she put what my temp was, what antibiotics I've been given, that pip is moving ok. Then she put my BP was 110/50. Hmm how the hell she's come to that conclusion I'll never know cos she never even checked my blood pressure. You can't take BP by using a Doppler thing for 10 seconds or so surely?!

Makes no odds to me. But writing you've done something when you haven't is a big no no clinical records wise!

BillComptonstrousers · 22/11/2011 11:00

mellie my midwife is full of shit as well! She is covering someone who is on long term sick and doesn't seem to give a toss. She wrote that everything was fine in my notes, even though there was sugar in my urine, and had been complaining about loads of discharge.

I ended up ringing my old midwife (from 7 years ago Blush) who answered loads of questions for me, wish I could go back to her.

I'm in a foul mood today, sent a girl home from work who was poorly, and her kids had D & V, told her she should not have come in. Guess what I have been doing all night?

The diarohhea jig from the bloody bed to the toilet thats what! Hubby had to miss goingto london today as I couldn't drag my sorry arse out of bed to get the kids to school etc.

And I've missed my blood tests to get my sugars checked and wil have to do another fast on thursday night!

and I missed parents evening as I had to send her home so was stuck in work all day by myself when I was supposed to leave at 3.30 to start seeing the teachers.

Oh dear Bill, I had vomiting and diarrhea bug last weekend, well, we all had it, even less fun than normal when you're preggers. Sympathy, hope you're feeling better soon!

Phlossie, coffee, I'm getting loads of comments too, but I'm measuring 5 weeks ahead, so I suppose it's not really surprising!

Flapjack, so stressful moving, hope the house is ready before baby is! Am so jealous, lol, wish we were moving too.

I'm trying to do housework today, loads to catch up on, my house is a pigsty atm, but I just don't have the energy at all. Bloody cat keeps coming in and covering the floor with mucky wee paw prints too, am getting really fed up with cleaning it 14 times a day. Well, thinking about cleaning it 14 times a day at any rate.

OFFICIAL

My maternity leave plan has been sent to HR (a day late.. ha) Last day in work Feb 10th!! 2 weeks leave, then 1 week maternity before pip due on the 5th! Grin

I have a question should anyone know the answer.... Maternity rights. It says on the Direct gov website that 26 weeks of one pay then 26 weeks of another making a year. But its NOT a year... it's 52 weeks... leaving a day or 2 missing. Which means that I am missing out on 2 days not in work.

Am I right on this?!

Work state 52 weeks, therefore instead of going back in on the Wednesday I'm going back on the Monday?!

I have mailed HR, but expect them to fob me off as usual!

hope we're all well.

Just stank the office out by eating broc and stilton soup Grin I know we're not allowed stilton, but surely as it's been cooked, then reheated a la microwave, it'll be fine Wink too late now - scoffed

littlemonkeybix · 22/11/2011 12:47

25+1 sorry forgot again

EsmeWeatherwax · 22/11/2011 13:41

Apparently we are allowed Milton now, according to the pg guilt thread from the other day! You were always allowed it cooked anyway.

Forgot to...30 weeks today! 9 weeks to go!

Sugar80 · 22/11/2011 13:46

Erm... I thought it was 12 weeks of one pay (90% of normal) then 26 weeks of SMP, making 38 weeks that you actually get paid for. After that I thought they had to keep you job (for up to a year) but you don't get any money. Will double check...

26+2

Sugar80 · 22/11/2011 13:55

Ah, found something... you can have 52 weeks off, but only get paid for 39 of them:

Pregnant employees are entitled to reasonable paid time off for antenatal care. The law also provides for 52 weeks' maternity leave which for all employees is available from day one of employment.

This may be paid leave for the first 39 weeks, provided you have worked continuously for the same employer for 26 weeks by the 15th week before the child is due.

My last day is 10th Feb, and I start maternity leave on 20th (after using a week's leave). I plan on officially returning to work after my 39 weeks paid time off (end November) then taking my 25 days holiday, plus 5 bank holidays, which just about sees me actually going back in January!

notcitrus · 22/11/2011 13:58

I think a 'year' is defined as 52 weeks for these things, but don't quote me!

I need to nag HR as they've written to say yes, my mat leave can start on 19 Dec and I will be taking 52 weeks and expected back 17 Dec 2010 - but have ignored the bit about me getting my paid leave in ebfore mat leave starts! Not to mention getting paid for accrued leave before returning, which was a right pain to sort out retrospectively last time. Though I'll still be wanting to officially return before next Christmas so I can get paid for lots of bank holidays and be broken in gently before properly working in the new year!

I seem to have become intolerant of codeine and other pills so have been throwing up lots - seeing a GP later. Not one I've seen before so rather nervous - GPs often panic at me and say I shouldn't be taking any drugs I'm on, even when I'm not pregnant. Feel like a wuss but think I'll take MrNC to interpret just in case. Dc2 is moving loads though and has a really violent kick! Ds was called Squirmy because he moved so much but he wasn't nearly as painful!

melliebobs · 22/11/2011 14:03

Sugar Don't forget next year you'll get 6 bank holidays. It's a bit different next year cos of the queens jubilee. So you get

2 at Easter (good fri & Easter monday)
The one at the beginning of may
The 2 at the beginning of June
August bank holiday

Next year they are scrapping the bank holiday at the end of may in favour of the Monday and Tuesday bank holiday at the beginning of June

Xavielli · 22/11/2011 14:12

Well, I am currently in the hospital as I passed out on the kitchen floor. It's all fun and games round here. Think I'm ok but panicked a bit!

PamBeesly · 22/11/2011 14:19

Xavelli how are you feeling now? x

babycarmen · 22/11/2011 15:23

Xavielli Hope youre ok! How scary.

Ok so the midwife yesterday went ok Hmm My mw is lovely im so lucky but she found protein and sugar in my urine and because of my tummy pain, seeing lights in my eyes etc she took blood to check for preeclampsia and made the GD one urgent too. My blood pressure was fine so i did say that i didnt think id have it but apparently theres a type of PE you can have without raised blood pressure.. :/ She said the results would probably be back today but ive not heard anything so im assuming either theyre not back or they came back fine! Im sure they'll be fine either way. Oh and also when i got blood taken at the GP the other week my iron was really low and im meant to already be on iron tablets..nobody told me!
Baby is fine though and measuring 1 week ahead, she said she is a really long skinny baby!! Her legs must be long.. it HURTS when she stretches! Also got a recording of the heartbeat on my phone so DP was happy!

DP is nagging me to put up our christmas tree up tonight Hmm hes like a big kid! Its too early!! (Although a lot of people seem to already have theirs up?)

louby86 · 22/11/2011 15:34

Hope you're ok Xavielli

Xavielli · 22/11/2011 16:32

Home now. We're all fine. Just stressed myself out and over did it, going to have to try and slow down a bit from now on

deardear · 22/11/2011 16:44

thats scary Xavielli.

been to see the MW this morning. Baby is transverse as i thought. she said they wont start worrying till 34 weeks. Also measuring 3 weeks behind at 3 26+1 weeks already and havent even made the bottom growth line yet!! she has put me on 2 weekly checks from now on so she can monitor me. she was looking for LO's heartbeat low down and i told her she wouldnt find it down there and pointed to where his upper body was and sure enough there it was lol. nice and strong once she found it and she woke him up prodding so he gave it a good hard punch lol.

next MW appt is 6 december then GTT test on 8th.

mummymccar · 22/11/2011 17:00

Hope you are all ok Xavielli, baby carmen, and deardear!

littlemonkeybix · 22/11/2011 17:09

Aww, hope you're OK Xav

I got a call from HR... my dates would mean I lose 4 days leave as I can only carry over so many, and I'd worked out with the wrong end of year in my head.

So...

Last day is now Feb 7th, Mat starts on Feb 22nd, and I go back on April 16th!

I have done a LOT of maths today trying to figure this out. Confused
