yellowbear · 27/12/2005 06:59

Quickly popping in to say that baby yellowbear (still debating names between charlie jack and Archie Jack) arrived on 23rd by emergency cs at 1.42pm weighing 8lb 8oz. Very short & quick labour at first (baby breech) but then advised to go for cs - i was high on gas and air so just went with whatever!

will fill in full story when i feel up to it.

Congrats and lovely names DQ,they were both on my 'girls'list.

bigbaubleeyes · 27/12/2005 10:42

No DQ i think its good we are realistic - I have still not had any signs. How is everyone else who's waiting doing - Its the should I keep busy and go out or stay in an rest but be bored. Don't know what to do today but I better think of something quick cos DH is threatening to put his Lord of the Rings box set on. I wish i could go to sleep and someone just wake me up when he's ready to get here. Only 4 days overdue but i am beginning to feel quite impaitent now.

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 27/12/2005 10:50

Yellowbear what fantastic news. I'm so pleased for you and your family. Hope it wasn't too traumatic for you.
Another one getting out of the Christmas day cooking!!
Hope you are getting some rest and Charlie / Archie is behaving (love both names by the way).

DQ, sounds like a wonderful birth. I think us first timers are all expecting it to be pretty painful whatever!

Hope everyone else is OK. I've had my first sign of a show this morning (just clear at the moment) and been twinging a bit on & off all night, bit like period pain. DP is convinced it's today but I'll wait & see. I'll keep you updated anyway.

babygibbon · 27/12/2005 12:08

Congratulations DQ and Yellow Bear - fantastic news

DQ - lovely that she arrived on Christmas day. What a great name. I'd choose Daisy if my DH would let me.

Can you add me to the still waiting list too:

Bigbaubleeyes due 23rd
Jayfirst
ei23mistletoe
scully
awayninamanger
conqueen (due 24th)
santageorgeiscomingtotown (due 29th)
Babygibbon (due 25th)

No imminent signs. A few BH but have been having them for the last week or so.

Anyway, had a pants Christmas - DH & DD ill, both needing looking after, and we went to my mums (about 1 and a half hours drive away) for two nights which meant practically no sleep (sharing a bedroom with DD is no fun...) All I wanted to do was come home. It's funny isn't it, I had visions of being very pregnant at Christmas and everyone taking care of me and fussing over me, but because of illness, it was the other way round - sods law! Never been so glad to get home

Anyway, I'm sure it'll get better from here on in, and my fingers are crossed that baby arrives before I have to be induced...but with no signs I'm not hopeful. Good luck everyone who's still waiting, there's not many of us now!

dramaqueen72 · 27/12/2005 16:07

sweetheart · 27/12/2005 18:49

Hello Ladies - well I'm back to my cheerful self after a few low days - don't think the lack of sleep helped due to Lucas having a stinking cold.

bigbaubleeyes · 28/12/2005 09:03

Still here - hope you are all ok whatever stage you may have reached! I'm off to clinic later and most likely will get 'sweep' then as i am 5 days overdue. Still had absolutely no 'signs'.

The snow is falling quite thick and DH is beginning to worry about the car getting up the bank out of the estate to get to hospital

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 28/12/2005 10:28

Morning everyone.
No more signs from me so I'm in for a wait I think (due date tomorrow so not really surprising that things haven't happened so far!)

Hi SH, good to see you over here & what a fab present! I think I just need to present him with a baby now to feel like I deserve mine!
Poor Lucas having a cold to start his first month with. Hope he is a bit better now.

Good luck at your appointment BBE. I'm sure if you need to get to the hospital your DH will have no trouble at all moving the car, even if it means getting the neighbours to help - panic will kick in!!

Ei, I'll be here waiting it out with you. A curry sounds lovely after all the crap I've eaten over the last week. Might have to shift myself off the sofa & do some cooking. Either that or come up to yours to hi-jack your tea!

Please check in everyone, just to let us know how you are doing.

ei23mistletoe · 28/12/2005 11:53

morning everyone!!
well interesting night for me last night! i was half convinced that the curry had worked and i had gone into labour!!was having pains on and off following my tea- it was lovely btw chicken madras rather hot!!- and then me and dp went to watch a film in bed and they started coming more regular at about every 12 mins. i kept quiet but they still kept comin and were getting closer together and rather sore!! i told dp about them when they were about 8 mins apart and we started timing them together and then at 3am they just gave up and stopped altogether!! i was not amused and went to bed in a bad mood!! ah well at least i know wereall in the same boat at the mo us preggy ladies i mean!! dq i got the email and daisy is just gorgeous!! im so right now as i dont reckon this one wants to come out!! it must be bloody comfy in there thats all i can say!!
hey to everyone how are we all today??
scully, jay, minnie where are you all? giving birth i hope!!xx

Jaysfirst · 28/12/2005 13:34

hiya, havnet read all the threads other than to know DQ and Yellowbear have had their babies, big congrats to you both, DQ got your email, Daisy looks just perfect!!!!

Nothing re babies here, no show no waters, few contracty type pains but nothing to write home about.
I have however been in bed ill with horrid flu since Boxing day morning, i felt like i was going to die to be honest, i had my legs crossed praying she wasnt going to make an apperance as there was no way i was going to be able to do any pushing. Anyway i am up today dont feel quite as bad, just totally drained and bunged up, will be staying in , keeping warm, taking paracetamol ever 4 hrs and drinking lots of fluids....great way to end/start the year

Take care all and keep well!

babygibbon · 28/12/2005 14:25

Still here, still waiting. Boring! I don't think anything's going to happen until NYE (when I have a sweep booked). And then it'll probably be an induction in Jan for me. Not that I'm feeling down or anything, but I'm tired, uncomfy and don't want to be induced. I am also becoming increasingly aware of just how large this baby actually is...

Don't mean to depress anyone and fingers crossed all remaining Dec babies arrive soon.

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 28/12/2005 15:14

BG, you're not depressing anyone, just saying how we all feel.

Sorry you have been so poorly Jay, as if you don't feel bad enough at the moment. Glad things are clearing up now.

Ei, you have enticed me into making curry tonight for tea . Just wish it would make itself now.

I'm in big trouble later I think. Dp also gave me a Sony walkman phone for christmas and in trying to get some music on it I think I've just replaced everthing on his Ipod (thousands of songs!) with my small selection of music - ooops!! I do hope he can transfer his back on. Dangerous you see, leaving a pregnant woman on her own with some new technology.

bigbaubleeyes · 28/12/2005 18:52

Hi, I'm glad you guys are still posting and I know I am not alone at this boring/anxcious/upsetting time

SORRY FOR LONG POST - having a bit of a day.

I have been to clinic after having no signs at all so far. The consultant told me she thinks my baby Lewis is 7lb and his head is down but slightly oblique (off center to the left and not in pelvis properly) Examination revealed not possible to do sweep (closed up tight and posterior). Have date for induction 3rd Jan - I felt quite disappointed so we went to Metro Center and bought more books to keep me occupied. Now I am home I feel very upset as if my body isn't working properly and Ive been snappy with DH. I was quite happy making my leek and potato soup this morning. I am not bothered about induction so much just she said I was high risk and so put me down for a morning induction -this being cos his head isn't down. this is the lowest i have felt since we lost twin - even though I know baby and i are both fine i just do.

I hope you are pulling round from your flu JAY. Ei I had curry lastnite also and it just made me smelly and windy - hope your signs mean your are getting closer
SATAGEORGE the ipod is the enemy in this house as far as I am concerned - I am sure this is why our PC mucks up cos he fills it too full and there is always white wires sticking out n about agghhhhhh!!! Hope you've recovered and got your thingy working.

bigbaubleeyes · 28/12/2005 21:11

There's no-one about - hope this means you are all busy getting ready or have started!

I started a thread for positive induction stories and the relplies have made me and DH feel a lot better.

Nemoinapeartree · 28/12/2005 21:21

BBE hun please dont feel disappointed about induction. I was induced with adam at 14 days over. It wasnt too bad at all so I actually requested induction with Hannah. Both mine went similair to a point with first pessary doing nothing then second bringing on early contractions. Then waters being broken and being on syntocin drip. It really isnt as bad as you think hun. Hannahs birth was quite scarey in that I was prepped for cs 3 times but at end I still had a natural delivery. I only had probs with her as she kept bobbing in and out of being engaged so they worried about cord coming out first. With adam once his labour started he was born 90 mins later and completely naturally with no instruments etc like hannah.

hope this helps

bigbaubleeyes · 28/12/2005 21:27

Thanks loads NEMO we have to admit that a lot of our upset is due to us getting our hopes up for a membrane sweep today and that it was going to work etc.

It really hit me just how much I am desperate to meet meet our little Lewis when I took a pair of blue velour bottoms with the tiny little feet in out of the bag (£2 in MotherC sale!) when I got in - they just set me off.

Other have posted on my 'positive induction thread' with similar stories to yours its very good even DH has been checking for posts and havin a good read.

Hope you are all well NEMO.

Nemoinapeartree · 28/12/2005 21:32

bbe wont be long until lewis is here hun and think of it this way u have a date to count down to now..it helps in keeping u sane believe me.
Just looked at thread and about epidural etc if baby still isnt engaged then i would recommend having one as labour will be a few hours plus as hannah wasnt engaged even when fully dialatewd she was high up so they took gas n air off me and diamorphine had worn off so was painful. However adam was engaged[they will tell you from first pessary how low baby is]so his labour was super fast and gas n air and the diamorphine worked very well.
You will know at the time what you need. Induction can be boring and a lot of waiting around but really is fine and I would go through it all again[although dont think dh would..lol]

bigbaubleeyes · 28/12/2005 21:36

Yeah I'm thinking to keep postive but realistic and EPI was way down my agenda and I think it would be silly of us not consider it is to be more likely. Thanks so much.

bigbaubleeyes · 28/12/2005 21:38

NEMO did they try to suggest a C section atna ny point cos head wasn't engaged? I know this may be silly asking as different hospitals have different policies etc.

Nemoinapeartree · 28/12/2005 21:51

BBE cs was because they wanted to break waters so they took me to theatre and said cord might slip down so they recomended cs but i asked them to break waters in theatre and if anything happened put me under for cs. then later they said her head wasnt coming down so they took me to theatre again but when we got there she had engaged. then about hr b4 she was born was told she had unengaged again...personally think i have a huge pelvis and she was so little she had loads of room to bob in and out.

bigbaubleeyes · 28/12/2005 22:04

I'll keep an open mind as possible then! Hearing a consultant say you are 'high risk' and need an AM induction cos there are more doctors about is bit worrying - but I'd rather we have staff on hand than full alert! cos if anything did happen and we hadn't been we would go mental. LEast we have date to count down to and both of us are ok.

ei23mistletoe · 28/12/2005 23:04

evenig ladies!!how is everyone just thought i would post to let you know that i have put some pics on the yahoo picture site of the nursery ready for the babs to live in
