Well what a lovely day we had yesterday. I was absolutely lost for words (doesn't happen often!!) when DP gave me a diamond ring as a Christmas / thankyou for having my baby present. After all the troubles we have had this year, I so don't feel like I deserve such a present (I will probably feel differently after several hours of labour!)

Scully, hope things are moving for you soon. This stop start thing must be awful for you. I've been twinging a bit but not sure what is going on - probably just too much rich food.

Anyway, another hectic day today. Good luck to everyone left here.
DQ, I hope you had a wonderful day and are being looked after by your family. I know I've already said it but I really am so happy for you.

xxx

bigbaubleeyes · 26/12/2005 13:33

Wow wot a great present Santageorge - I think I may have had niggles in nite but when I fully woke up this morning I realised my excema had flared up over bump so not sure if it was just that irritating me in my sleepy state.!

Well I have just braved local retail park and walked all the way round to help thing - nothing to report. But I did get an outfit half price from Mothercare and wrap shawl thingy from Dorothy P's which i though would be pretty but comfortable for after birth when we start to get out n about. I'm going to dye my hair this after and DH has still not done my toenails.

Hope your cosied up comfortable ith Daisy DQ.

dramaqueen72 · 26/12/2005 13:52

thanks for all the well wishes ladies, not got alot of time, but wanted to come and say hello.
my water broke christmas eve about ten pm. the midwife came out and said, yeah, waters gone no major contractions but some iirregular one.
she left and I pottered about, trying to ignore them -but they hurt!- she came back about 3.30am and said -shockingly to me- only about 2cm! I was gutted becasue they really hurt. so she agreed after watching several contractions I could get in the pool.....not quite sure what time that was, but mostly they dont like you in before 4cm but she could see I needed some relief. so 'active labour was only 1hr and 50mins. and they came thick and fast and hurt like hell. daisy was born with me standing up, and before the second midwife could get here
It really hurt crowing the head standing up, gravity taking over from the pushing......(sorry first timers NOt what you wanted to read!) but it made it quick! 3 or 4 pushes and she was here. we had left the children asleep upstairs all night til about half an hour before daisy arrived, when I was getting abit loud,so they were wrapped up and went round grannys (2 doors away) which they thought was very exciting.
ten to six daisy arrived. and is perfect. 7lbs11 (exactly the same as Mollie, dd2)shes feeding well, sleepign during the day and not the night but never mind. I had no grazes or stitches at all, tho the after pains are pretty strong everything else is absolutely fine.
It was such a magical way to start christmas.

bonkerz · 26/12/2005 13:55

sounds like you had the birth you had planned for! Congratulations again DQ.

bigbaubleeyes · 26/12/2005 14:46

Even though you highlighted pain - its still sounds as if you had a really positive birth experience - I think I'm right in saying this was your first homebirth - you'll have to let us know how this compared to others!

dramaqueen72 · 26/12/2005 17:39

yes, sorry about the 'ow' factor mentioned! but omg, so so much better being at home than anywhere. loved that part, esp afterwards. massively 'PRO' home birth in thsi household now!

flutterbeedreaminofawhitexmas · 26/12/2005 20:45
