Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Parsley - that dress is stunning and even if you don't find an excuse to wear it again it will be easy to sell on I should imagine - so excited about a wedding Where do you live again? Are you Londonish? Can I gatecrash? (jk!)

I had a Thomas the Tank Engine story read to my belly last night - DH even did the voices, which he hasn't had the confidence to do before! Was very touched, but suspect the same enthusiasm wouldn't be found for, for example, Angelina Ballerina Oh well - a story is a story and whichever it is it will probably take after DH and like mechanical things so the two of them will engage in erudite discussions about engines and airflow whilst I sit there in blank incomprehension :D

Are you home now ghost? Having a nice long sleep I hope whilst your SiL runs around after you?

mum2b - that sounds really uncomfortable - hope your belly calms down soon and you're more comfortable.

shon - I think you need to have stern words with your LO! :)

OMG - watching a jive from last night's 'Strictly' on iPlayer - how the hell does Anita wotsherface have that much energy? I'm exhausted just watching her.

ParsleyLion1 · 16/10/2011 08:26

I'm loving Anita Dobson on strictly. She just clearly loves it and throws everything in thereGrin

I'm in east Surrey cakes about 1/2 hour outside London on the train.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 16/10/2011 08:44

East Surrey? How close is that to Esher?

Hee hee - no worries - I can't gatecrash cos my bump party is on the 20th, so I have to stay up here for that we're doing invitations today :-D And planning games that aren't too puke-worthy!

Ugh - horrible cat has a teeny mouse in the bathroom which I can't rescue cos I can't bend down. Poor mousie.

ParsleyLion1 · 16/10/2011 08:58

Very close cakes about 20 mins in the car. Wink

GiraffeAHolic · 16/10/2011 09:00

Morning ladies, liking the shiny new thread and cool title.

I've been AWOL for a while so thought I'd pop in. Things haven't been great here, my dad passed away on 6th October so the last 10 days have been pretty hellish.

Trying not to worry too much but I had a bit of bleeding last night, nothing major but not something I've experienced before. Medicom told me to phone delivery suite who said to monitor and phone back to be seen if it happened again.

Fingers crossed it was a one off, this baby really is the only thing keeping me together at the moment.

I don't want to depress everyone but just wanted to pop in and say hi, will catch up on all the posts when I get a chance.

Mum2be79 · 16/10/2011 09:15

GiraffeAHolic so sorry to hear about your dad. Bleeding caused by emotions and stress?

ParsleyLion1 · 16/10/2011 09:15

Fingers crossed it was a one off Giraffe.

So sorry to hear about your dad, sending my thoughts, hugs and best wishes to you and your family.

redheadbedhead · 16/10/2011 09:25

So sorry about your dad giraffe - I'm sure it's just the stress that's made your body do funny things. Sending lots of love x

trubble · 16/10/2011 09:31

giraffe so sorry to hear about your Dad. Thoughts are with you.
makescakes and parsley sounds like we're all really close as I'm Woking. makescakes any chance you can pm me the ginger cake recipe?

skeletonfishbonesandlilacs · 16/10/2011 10:07

I'm sorry for your loss giraffe a very sad time to lose a parent when youre expecting yourself. Makes it harder somehow. A friend lost her FIL to a motorbike accident when she was pregnant with her DS1. They keep a lovely photograph of him in the little boys room so he knows who is grandad was and he does ask about him and talk to the picture apparently. It probably feels too raw at the moment but it might be something you'd like to do for your DC1. Big hugs x

Wormshuffler · 16/10/2011 10:36

Sorry for your loss giraffe, take it easy. Bump will be giving you cuddles from the inside x x

Conchita · 16/10/2011 10:53

Hi all, haven't been on here for many weeks as just been so busy, and with such bad baby brain that it's hard to keep up with everybody, but thought I would check back in as we're heading to the home straight!
Giraffeaholic I am so sorry to hear about your dad and I'm thinking of you. Hope all turns out well with the bleeding too but agree that may just be stress and there are so many potentially innocuous causes. xx
Parsley I love love love the dress!
I've had a very easy, straightforward second trimester so hoping the third will be fairly textbook too. Bit worried as I had my flu jab yesterday and LO is v quiet this morning. I've felt movement but nothing like his usual in utero partying. maybe I just need some breakfast. Until now LO has been very active and kicked the doctor last week as she tried to measure his heartbeat (don't know the sex by the way so we just flit between 'she' and 'he'!).
I feel much more bonded with the baby since I've felt him moving. In my mind he is a real lively little monkey (felt that way when I saw him playing up to the camera on the scan too), I know it's all nonsense but I like feeling like I know his personality already.
Last night I popped along to a friend's leaving do as she is emigrating but she decided to hold it at a hideous West-end nightclub and I'm afraid it was too darn loud for me and Little Monkey. I started to feel quite queasy and had to leave after 20 mins, sure it was LO hating the noise. Not a Lady Gaga fan I guess! Then on the way home at a very reasonable time (around 8pm), some drunk lad tried to chat me up. Now it's nice to know that I still got it at 28wks preggers, but SERIOUSLY! There is no mistaking this tum for anything but a bump now. No accounting for taste I guess!
Start my hynobirthing course tomorrow which I feel excited but apprehensive about. My main fear concerns DH and whether he is assertive enough to take the lead and speak for me- he normally lets me do the talking and making decisions in stressful situations. Also had my first birth anxiety dream last night- I was 2 weeks past my due date and no bigger than now and I knew that baby was in no way ready to come out. I felt terrified about being induced. Nowhere near as good a dream as giving birth to a button though!

ghosteditor · 16/10/2011 13:59

Hey ladies, on the tarmac at Heathrow now (fog caused travel carnage) and just want to get off the damn aircraft. Had a truly awful check in - very stressful as they couldn't tell anyone that we actually had a seat on the plane we'd checked in on. Hours of queuing and stress, and finally some weeping when a very kind stranger helped me find a faster moving queue. Can't believe how emotional I am these days! Fully drained now though and not at all up to fighting to find my bag, which always happens at heathrow when there have been delays. Really really crappy and Sad at the moment. Sleep will help...

Should just post about me though! Loved that wedding dress, gorgeous!

And giraffe so sorry about your loss. Hope the bleeding was just a random thing (I haven't had any since last week, though in the back of my mind am still a bit worried to hear I have a 'growth' which caused it). Has it stopped now?

Feeble wave to everyone else Smile

ghosteditor · 16/10/2011 14:00

Ps my app tells me I'm 3rd trimester now, can't quite believe it!

Nanny01 · 16/10/2011 14:09

Giraffe- so sorry to hear such bad news for you, I am sure the bleeding is a one of event. There is never a good time to loose someone close and the pregnancy hormones never help. Hope you have lots of people around you to support you all through this time.

Oeisha · 16/10/2011 17:07

giraffe So sorry to hear your bad news. I'm sure the bleeding was stress related, but sending

ghost I hope you're getting some rest/sleep now.

cakes I leave cats to it. It generally shortens the torture...

Parsley Also loving the dress Grin

I'm sure I've missed stuff...apologies if I have.

Erh....crikey. Not sure what's going on/where I am now. Tired, but it's been a busy day (trade was up too!). Some of the usual 'Sunday crap' but, well it was dealt with comparatively easily. At least I had no fainters. Just a lot of customers not understanding that we can't just "stay open beyond 4, not even because it's a lovely day, besides, it's the LAW". Off for a nap with Gizzard methinks. I didn't look THIS terrible 1st thing so must be tired.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 16/10/2011 18:16

giraffe - big hugs. I can't imagine how sad you must be atm, but I'm sure your LO is OK and will say a little prayer that the bleeding is a big nothing.

ghost - hope you're home now...? Yes? Do you at least get tomorrow off to recuperate? I think you deserve it.

trubble - will do it soon!

I don't know if the mouse is still in there, but I suspect it is (and alive) because the boys are still very interested in the bathroom.

On the plus side I have so nearly finished the little cardie I'm working on that I'm mentally picking out buttons. I can't decide between clouds or ladybirds :)

x

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 16/10/2011 18:35

ps - anyone else want the sticky ginger cake recipe since I;ve typed it out for trubble? Just yell if so :)

ParsleyLion1 · 16/10/2011 19:07

Either that or they've lost it cakes. I've known cats to stay looking for ages where they last saw a mouse without realising that I'd already caught it and put it outside. Grin

ghosteditor · 16/10/2011 19:34

Oh no, bleeding again. So horrid, but doc said to expect it and not to worry unless it became heavy. Confused

ParsleyLion1 · 16/10/2011 19:44

Fingers x'd it stays light ghost It must be very disconcerting even though you know baby is OK.

shonnomanom · 16/10/2011 20:04

Hugs to giraffe at this difficult time. And I hope that the bleeding stops soon for yourself and ghost.

Had a good weekend up north but I'm totally shattered as a result of a bad nights sleep then having to drive home as dp was too hungover to. Love the fact that we got upgraded to a suite purely because I'm pregnant!Grin
We did have a big talk regarding names. Lucas and skye seem to be contenders atm.
Think my aching back is applifying all of babies movements. Physio is my first call tommorrow.
Hope everyone is keeping ok.
29 weeks done now!

Spagbolagain · 16/10/2011 21:03

Evening all. So sorry giraffe, such a difficult and sad time for you. Hope everything clears up quickly on the bleeding front for both you and ghost.

Very tired today, been sorting through loads of stuff having a clear out for the baby. Need to create some space and storage.

cakes I will happily have the ginger cake recipe if you don't mind? We're mad for all things gingery round here!

Oeisha · 16/10/2011 21:49

ghost Confused not good I'm sure everything will be fine. Sending to you too!

Anyone else looking into GBS/Strep B testing?

addictediam · 16/10/2011 22:31

Giraffe I'm so sorry. Big hugs to you ((()))

Oeisha I have strep b so don't need further testing, but if your area offer the test i would suggest you take it, if not don't stress too much about it.
