Sat here thinking positive thoughts for you Tyel

mopsytop · 23/10/2011 11:28

Hope all is okay this morning Tyel. Thanks for the tip about the warmth, will get a very light nightie and bring lip balm. I hate sleeping in the warm, always have the heating off a night so not looking forward to that.

Let us know how you are getting on. I hope you have got your muffin by now!

plupervert · 23/10/2011 11:43

A good morning for all?

msbuggywinkle · 23/10/2011 11:50

I'm striking for the rest of the day. DP and I were doing the big tidy up of the living room and the DDs have just spent the entire time screaming and being horrible to each other, then DP decided to join in. So, I'm refusing to do anything else for the rest of the day. Am going to spend it on the computer instead of the planned sausage and mash with braised red cabbage and apple cake and I'm not tidying the playroom.

They are all yelling at each other upstairs now.

OiMissus · 23/10/2011 12:04

Morning ladies, hope all is well tyel. hope the pains subside and the baby stays put for some time yet. Thinking about you. X
Was out last night at sis' 40th bd meal. It's always nice to get together with the family, but regret not getting up with the belly dancer! I should've shown her how it's done with a proper belly.
Have wagged it from aquanatal this morning. Have awful itchy angry rash in between my breasts, and downstairs! Yikes! Pharmacist gave me thrush cream - for the chest - so I guessed it'd be ok down yonder also. If it's still bad Monday I'll ask the community MW. Sad
Have a great Sunday everyone. Smile

aethelfleda · 23/10/2011 12:39

Morning! Am having a quiet day here too- Maisie Mouse DVD alterntating with sticker book fun.. Yesterday we had my Dad's 70th birthday, I cheated big time with the catering (thankyou Mr Sainsbury and Mr Aldi!) and help from my S-I-L, but it was still rather tiring. All went well though, we had lots of relatives over and more importantly my dad all the visiting kids loved it, so yay.

Thank you to whoever mentioned Dorothy Perkins have a 25% off voucher code for October! I finally admitted defeat when my coat wouldn't do up and I froze on the morning school run, so went on the site and found a lovely purple maternity coat Here Splash out time but it will be SOO worth it given the time of year and will get lots of wear!

How's things going, tyel, and have your fingers started behaving and deswelled, sorelip? hope everyone else is doing OK...

mopsytop · 23/10/2011 13:10

oooh lovely coat aethel. I got this to wear under my coat. Cleaning, tidying and sorting today.

AheadlesswomancalledHorse · 23/10/2011 14:06

Oi, I've got rashy 'middle' boob too...really itchy & red (but nowt like heat rash), hope it goes away soon for you & me both!

Sounds like you & aethelfleda had excellent Saturdays! I'll be popping into DP tomorrow (probably to get that coat, it's lovely)!

msbuggy, grrrh! Hope they all stop shouting soon!

Got our moses basket yesterday, nappies should be coming tomorrow so (aside from cotton wool) we're all set. Just need a baby now [hgrin]

LittleMissFlustered · 23/10/2011 14:19

I am putting bits and bobs into my hospital case (small on wheels job) today. It's all been lurking in various places but it seems as though preparedness is a good thing.

Hope you're sat with a nice Brew and a slab of cake Tyel :)

Going to bite the bullet and tell my parents this week. That's my decision of the day. Now for some horlicks and a game of 'hunt the box of breast pads':)

sevensevenseven · 23/10/2011 18:08

Just checking in for an update from tyel, hope it's all going ok and that baby is staying firmly put. Though I must say I'm surprised we haven't had more babies already, some of you must be over 34 weeks now.

I might go and start packing my hospital bag in a minute and an overnight bag for DS if he has to stay over at my parents, seems like the time to get organised now. Then a fun night of ironing and sorting out the start of a bookkeeping system for the new business.

OiMissus · 23/10/2011 19:11

Me too. Hope all is well tyel.
am going to iron all the baby clothes before I put them away. I guess this'll be the first and last time they get ironed... Who knows!?

msbuggywinkle · 23/10/2011 19:18

Yep, me three. Hope you're both ok tyel.

oi impressive! It has never occurred to me to iron baby clothes, but then I don't iron anything else.

ZombiesAteMySorelip · 23/10/2011 19:26

Tyel I hope everything is OK and that you're not around at the moment because you are chilling out. Been thinking of you throughout the day.

I now have a buggy thingy! And bottle and steriliser set, and baby grooming set, and baby bath, and some extra baby bath towels, and a Lullaby Gloworm. I love my friend!

LittleMissFlustered · 23/10/2011 19:36

seven I'd forgotten about a bag for the kids! >_< That's me making another list tonight. I thought I was doing so well too!

Xiaoxiong · 23/10/2011 20:00

Hello ladies - thanks so much for all your good wishes. I'm home again now - couldn't update today because my battery died and I had to wait for DH to arrive during visitors hours with my charger. (Another thing to make sure you have in your hospital bags!!)

I did lose some fluid when the baby turned head down and moved down into my pelvis but if my cervix was open last night (midwife and jr doc thought 1-2cm dilated but registrar was dubious), it closed up again somehow and I am fine. I still have some stabby pains and my bump feels quite bruised and sore but as it's responding to paracetamol and I didn't lose any more fluid, I was allowed to go home this evening. I am definitely having BH contractions now though, they showed up on the monitors and they hurt. I think lying in bed for 24 hours definitely slowed them up though so I will be taking it easy from now on.

Everyone was very lovely and kind to me and they were really pleased with the muffins DH brought them. He has really proven his worth in purest gold over the last few days - and cancelled all his half term plans to see friends to be here for me this week. He made chilli tonight and bought me flowers and a kung-fu movie and all sorts of lovely things - grapefruits to squeeze for my breakfast and everything.

I'm not working tomorrow to get some rest - we'll see about Tues and whether I start mat leave early (DH is really pushing for this), but this week we're definitely sorting out EVERYTHING - car seat, hospital bag, pram etc. No more procrastinating!!

Main takeaway - although it was as pleasant an experience as it could have been with two speculum examinations, not much sleep with four other ladies' fetal monitors going, and incredibly hot and dehydrated, it has deepened my resolve to have a home birth. I have never been so sad to see DH leave as I was last night - if you guys hadn't been out there making me laugh (you and your boob squirt threats horse!) I would have been very miserable and sorry for myself indeed. And then getting out today was a little nightmare in itself - midwife needing to find a doctor who was finding a registrar who was finding a consultant etc etc etc.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, baby is still in there and hopefully won't go anywhere fast. Thanks for all your good wishes - best thing I ever did, joining this thread way back when! Hope you all had a better weekend than me and will catch up on all your news tomorrow.

Just checking in, like others, to see if there's an update from Tyel - really hope all is okay.

Really cannot get motivated for job interview tomorrow! At 34 weeks, and moving house next weekend, it just feels completely down my list of priorities. It's for the Vice Principal position in the school I currently work in - I'm currently senior management so it really matters v little if I get it. There's a very big field in for it and tomorrow is just stage one of 3. Just not convinced my mind's in the right place - would rather be washing baby clothes and sorting hospital bags also as baby is def no.1 priority. Oh well, can't complain, I applied so better see it through. Think if I don't get through tomorrow will just feel relief!

ZombiesAteMySorelip · 23/10/2011 20:32

Tyel that's good news, and I'm glad you and baby are doing well, and that DH is being wonderful.

Does anyone feel like they may give birth sooner rather than later? I don't, it feels like little man could be in there for quite a while.

aethelfleda · 23/10/2011 20:41

Hooray tyel, great to hear you're back home and all is going well. Hopefully LO will stay put a bit longer for you. See how things go, if you get the home birth you want that's fab, but just go with what feels right, it's important to not beat yourself up if you have to transfer. Reading your exploits has finally made me pack my hospital bag properly (even though I'm only 30 weeks+5! )

bluebells, good luck with the interview! And seven, a bag for the DS is waaay organised! I'm banking on dragging grandad over to mine (or at a push one of our nice neighbours) rather than sending the DDs out. Of course this is wildly optimistic and assumes that I'll be able to get a 6-12 hour discharge like last time...When there are kiddies at home to get back to, the desire to get back home asap is really strong!

Cheeptrickortreat · 23/10/2011 20:48

Glad you and Baby are ok Tyelperion Smile

Take care of your self xx

LittleMissFlustered · 23/10/2011 20:50

Woohoo for being released back into the wild Tyel and large portions of approval for your husband, seems he's got his head screwed on:)

I packed my bag today. I just need knickers and nimnams for it. Hate shopping for big knickers, they're so dull!

I was going to have an early night, but the muppet friends of my neighbour our have decided to have a disco using their car stereo. I am giving them half an hour before I explode in the hope that they decide it's too chuffing cold to be faffing about out there.

OiMissus · 23/10/2011 20:53

Fabulous news tyel! such a relief.
I'll maybe start getting my hospital bag packed.

Cheeptrickortreat · 23/10/2011 20:55

Off to pack hospital bag and bag for son if needed.

I think i will give birth early and that i will stay in hospital for about 5 days so i plan on BF and i need to inject a needle in to me for 5 days to stop clots due to BMI Sad

I'm more worried how my DH will cope looking after son for 5 days without me Confused

BluebellsintheSpring · 23/10/2011 21:29

Yeah Tyel - now definitely get some rest!

sevensevenseven · 23/10/2011 22:11

Glad you're home and ok tyel, take it easy and definitely go for early mat leave if it's a feasible option.

Hospital bag packed, ironing done and brain hurting from trying to get my head around the bookkeeping.

fusam · 23/10/2011 22:21

wow haven't logged in all w/e and it's all kicked off. So glad you and baby are fine Tyel. Did they give you any instructions on whether you should be taking it easy and so on? If I remember correctly you have a long commute, right? If so, I would pack it in and just enjoy early Mat leave.

Had a lovely weekend with my little brother, dh and dd. We walked around regent's park then had the best roast ever in a pub in Camden and a bit of pottering around some markets. It made me remember why I love London again.
