Question for those that have DCs - I'm at 31 weeks, and all day I've been more uncomfortable than usual, and my bump feels kind of bloated, and there is an uncomfortable feeling that kind of reminds me of constipation, but there's no poo there. What is going on? My mum reckons it might be the baby moving down, is she right?

Sorelip · 06/10/2011 20:55

And now it feels like something is compressing my bowel - damn, that's a weird feeling!

Good luck for tomorrow, Honey.

Re Christmas shopping, I've done most of it - everyone is getting cheap presents this year, as all spare cash is going to the baby fund. I've even wrapped some of the presents, check me out :)

I really can't wait for Christmas; a proper roast with all the trimmings, rubbish TV, and having the heating on when it's freezing outside.

figgygal · 06/10/2011 21:13

Cripes think 3 course meal was maybe a bit ambitious but was a proper bargain with groupon. Got straight on the rennies when got in.

I haven't seen the same midwife either throughout my appts though they've been very nice all the same. Not even thought about Xmas presses yet think a lot of online shopping this year especially since won't get up to Scotland to actually give them out so may as well just have sent straight there.

sevensevenseven · 06/10/2011 21:19

sorelip we haven't spent as much on anyone this year either, me and DH have agreed to just spend £50 on each other. I'm sure people will understand that with a new baby we don't have as much money to spend on presents this year, and anyone rude enough to say anything will soon be told where to go.

LittleMissFlustered · 06/10/2011 21:21

Sorelip Yup, sounds about right, baby will be getting head down and shifting toward the south. From that point on I never know whether I actually need to poo or just wriggle about a bit to relieve the pressure >_< It's bad enough not being able to empty your bladder properly until after birth. The first pee post labour is usually a revelationGrin

Sorelip · 06/10/2011 21:31

Hmmm, just had a period of lower back ache, with lower bump ache. Braxton hicks?

aethelfleda · 06/10/2011 22:07

Had my 28 week check today (they double booked it by accident with another mother but I looked piteously at the midwife and she kindly squeezed me in anyway) . And Junior has decided that being head down is boring, so he's lying crossways (transverse) instead. Midwife commented that he felt like a very strange baby. I considered commenting that it wasn't surprising given his mother, but decided she was probably talking about his position, so I kept quiet.

This afternoon was decidedly surreal - got a rather panicky phone message from my dad saying he couldn't pee and couldn't breathe either. Was this going to result in him being sensible and calling an ambulance? Nope, he decided to book a taxi to "avoid being a bother". Crazy man. He's now in the local hospital with a catheter up somewhere personal and is decidedly annoyed (though it's fair to say he has reason to be). Cheer up gals, we may have all sorts of troubles but at least we don't have prostate glands to worry about!

AheadlesswomancalledHorse · 06/10/2011 23:33

DH has just got in from work, I've 'stolen' his card to buy myself some of these lounge pants. Hope they're comfy!

Sorry you've felt so poo today Sorelip.

How was the meal figgy?

We're looking at spending £20/30 each on PIL, BIL & SIL & £50-ish on my Nan (she's the only family I speak to, so she gets a bigger present), all of DH's extended family will have to make do with a card!
DH & I will spend £150ish on each other, last 'big' christmas before all our money goes towards LO (just feckkin realised I left an unwrapped gift on the bed & DH has just gone into the bedroom, FECK)!

aethelfleda, hope your dad is ok & it's just a short-term problem. x

BeeMyBaby · 07/10/2011 06:47

seven, I think it was Cheeptrickortreat who has made a thread in the pregnancy board, which seemed to end with a midwife appointment being arranged for today.

For presents I only need to worry about my parents now - I have instructions from SIL that there are to be no adult presents bar perhaps a box of chocolates for her and DB1, and she has told me exactly what present to get her DD (only £10 so very reasonable), just getting DH a computer game, getting DB2 & his GF vouchers as they are moving abroad just beforehand for a year or so, and getting DD some nice boots so extremely pleased that its a super easy one this year. Not planning to get the new baby anything as we have everything from DD. DH's family live abroad and are not Christian so we save lots and lots of money because of that.

OiMissus · 07/10/2011 07:30

sorelip - I had a similar evening last night, my whole tummy felt hard, uncomfortable and bloated. And I'm sure that it's even bigger again this morning. I feel HUGE. It can't get much bigger than this, can it?!
Yesterday and overnight the baby was so active - I'm guessing it's the change in weather, seeing as many of us experienced the same thing. V odd.
We have quite a big list to buy for at Christmas, but I can't even begin to think about it yet. But, whether we rent or buy a house, I'm going to have to be really careful (tight) with money this year - if we've got a big mortgage by the time I'll be on statutory pay, we're probably going to struggle a bit. And of course, you can't really put money to one side now, because you need the biggest deposit possible to get the best mortgage deal.
Exciting times!!
32 weeks today.
(It's going to be very difficult doing any work today, I shall be house planning and dreaming mostly.)
Happy Friday everyone!

msbuggywinkle · 07/10/2011 07:42

Morning everyone!-

seven you are too organised! I have about half of the DDs presents.done, DP is idealess as usual for himself, we know what we're getting for most people other than that but haven't bought it yet. Planning ton do it at the start of next month.

DP''s parents want us to come to their house for Christmas dinner. They only live round the corner but I might have a 7 day old, so I've put them off by talking about the body fluids I'm likely to be leaking!

mopsytop · 07/10/2011 08:00

Oi, I was thinking it might be the weather, when so many people said it. My bean has been very active too!

fusam · 07/10/2011 08:03

Hello everyone and love the thread title

Oi huge congrats. Have you seen a place you like yet or is it still early days? You seem so much closer to the finish line, I am still only 28 weeks.

aethelfleda sorry about your dad, how is he now?

Dd has a bit of a cold so considering giving myself a day off and having a duvet day. Might even light the fire for the first time this season Grin Bliss...

Xiaoxiong · 07/10/2011 08:19

Ha, mine has been so active it flipped all the way over the other day - I could feel it turn and then the GP confirmed it's now breach when it was head down before. Definitely the weather Smile I'm only 32 weeks though, she said not to worry unless the kid is still breach at 37 weeks.

We have 4 favourites and we're going seeing them again this weekend hopefully. :) I think this is my favourite. It's a big old house, and it needs completely restyling inside - I estimate it needs 50k spent on bathrooms, windows, kitchen, restyling. But I've drawn up my plans for ensuites and dressing rooms and ... I love it. I can see this as a lovely family home to grow up and grow old in. And it's right on the edge of a village, in the countryside. (You southern types will be very shocked to see how much house you can get ooop north in a little village for the price). And there are a choice of "Good" primary schools nearby too. I think it's available as "vacant possession", but it sounds like they are on the cusp of renting it out...

Sorelip · 07/10/2011 09:13

Oh oi it's beautiful!

fusam · 07/10/2011 09:45

gorgeous house, yes very Envy at what you can get there. Imagine using your ML flicking through design mags and blogs whilst baby is peacefully sleeping

OiMissus · 07/10/2011 10:02

All will be welcome to visit with design inspiration! Bring a paintbrush! I've saved the blog in my favourites. Thanks. Am too giddy to work. Bugger, and I've got loads to do...

Xiaoxiong · 07/10/2011 10:22

Hahahahaha - that's the same price as the basement "one bed" (actually a studio with curtain between bed alcove and the rest of the flat) we looked at last year with no windows. And the mortgage brokers wanted between a 25% and 30% deposit.

It's gorgeous though. Very jealous.

lalababy · 07/10/2011 11:16

Oimissus where on earth do you live that you can get a 4 bedroom HOUSE for that price? tyleperion I totally sympathise... DH would cry if I showed him that link given what we paid to buy a 2 bed flat in London!
BLOODY JEALOUS....!!!

In other news... I got a flu jab and have been suffering from flu symptoms ever since.
Baby is driving me crazy...feel like he is stuck under my ribs for some reason... it is driving me MAD!!!

My hubby does Kris Kringle with his huge fam as well... whereas my fam doesn't celebrate Xmas (we are not christian) so no gift buying on that side. However, since I am giving DH an Xmas pressie... a little baby... I have decided that I want this for xmas - so I can play for the lil bub!

OiMissus · 07/10/2011 12:05

That looks like fun lala, but the only "musicality" I have is confined to the inside of my car - when alone! (The poor baby has suffered for my art).
I live in the North West, just north of Bolton, on the edge of the West Pennine Moors. 15 miles north of Manchester.
It rains quite a lot, but we can afford houses above ground - so at least we can watch it rain, tyel. Wink (You have my sympathies!)
It aint too grim, we have theatres, great restaurants and good schools - and I hear we're getting electricity next year. :)

plupervert · 07/10/2011 14:07

Hope you get over your pseudo-'flu, lalababy; that's an unpleasant surprise...

Bless your dad, aethelfleda, for being so stoic. At least he will respect your postpartum woes, if you have any!

Sorelip, could it actually be constipation? Even if you think you can't possibly be, because something is coming out, there could be... a blockage, and a bit is coming round the sides (so sorry to be so graphic). I went to hospital at a fairly late stage last time, with a pain in my abdomen, which turned out to be constipation. It seems that the bump squashes/slows digestion, and of course the longer something remains in the intestines, the more water is absorbed, making it harder. Anyway, I felt like such a fool. They gave me Lactulose, which is gentle enough for pregnancy and small children (but which is vilely sweet), and I have been very careful this time round; have just been scoffing grapes, and there seems to be a lot of watermelon around at the moment, too, so we are all having that at home.

Lovely-looking house, OiMissus, though of course you will have to suck your teeth about insulation and running costs. Wink

figgygal · 07/10/2011 14:12

DH has told me no xmas pressies this year as we will have given the biggest present ever to each other already......am sure he thought it sounded sweet i thought it sounded stingey!! Apart from the Take That Live DVD and Just Dance 3 for the Wii i dont want anything anyway!! Maybe some personal trainer sessions in Jan to kick off operation babyweight!!

31 weeks today my back is starting to tighten up when sitting down too long ive been waiting for back pain to kick in wonder if this is it??

This is going to sound really smug and i dont mean it to but is anyone else still not feeling particularly pregnant? I have been very lucky and am very grateful but i've never had the sickness, tiredness, sleeplessness, increased loo stops, mood swings...... nothing. In fact apart from the growing and very active bump and the wrist pain i am just still me and getting on with things. Am i really the only one?

OiMissus · 07/10/2011 14:28

He he he! plu Plus the costs of barricades to keep out marauding Wiganers.

figgy stop showing off! Or share your secrets, the only one that really, really gets me is sleeplessness. Takes forever to get comfy, then I get itchy, then lo starts kicking, then I have to go to the loo again.
A crying baby to wake me up will be a blessed relief.

sevensevenseven · 07/10/2011 14:35

"where on earth do you live that you can get a 4 bedroom HOUSE for that price?" it's nowhere near as nice as the house oimissus likes (still needs new kitchen and bathroom) but we bought our 4 bedroom ex-LA semi last year for £143,000.

figgy other than being pretty tired I don't feel too bad either, and I was only sick once other than a bout of D&V, DH had it too though so it doesn't count.
