Hi all, I am 28 weeks tomo and just been diagnosed with gestational diabeties which was a shock as no problems in my first pregnancy at all. I am trying not to worry as it is borderline at the mo and should be able to control it by diet alone.

I have a horrible cough, cold and sore throat which started Monday so Doctor wants to see me today to check my heart and lungs etc eek!
Am hoping this is just a precaution and that everything is ok, baby is kicking a lot so don't think it is bothering him too much thankfully.
Just wondering and sorry for having to ask but has anyone else experienced erm leakage whilst coughing? I am too embarrased to ask midwife if this is normal, I thought it was after the birth that things were a little loose so to speak???
Please tell me this will get better cos am far too young to be a tena lady lol

LilPud · 22/12/2011 15:27

Oh butterflies yes, and I thought the same. The coughing has been pretty brutal but I still didn't expect that! I sure hope it's temporary and I've been working my floor too so there's just no excuse really.

I don't think this preganancy has gone quick at all, I wish it would tho. Everyday comes the worry of 'have I felt it move' then 'yes, but have I felt it move enough' followed by 'oh wow that's uncomfortable, you can stop moving now' Still 13 weeks to go!!!

apple07887 · 22/12/2011 18:07

Hi everyone! I'm due end of March 2012 with my first baby and would love to meet other mums in the Bayswayer/Notting Hill area. Get in touch if you would like to do the same :-)

ILoveMyDragon · 22/12/2011 21:00

Welcome welcome apple!!!

I can't believe how quickly this pregnancy has gone!!! & weeks and a day till mat leave (not that I'm countin at all!!!!)

Never been a particular Christmas person so really lookin forward to it all being over so we can do baby shopping - Yay!!

Am starting to come down with yet another cold so am expecting to be completely wiped out over Christmas!

Lump is most definitely not breach anymore what with the immense rib kickin it is enjoying!! Also think that head might be on my bowel as I'm having problems of the other kind - sorry TMI!!

Hope everyone has a fantabulous Christmas!!!

29 today - ARGH!!!!

ILoveMyDragon · 22/12/2011 21:00

should have been 7 weeks and a day!!!

KittyRogue · 22/12/2011 23:01

Hey ladies, all well this end too! Lots of kicks and a head on my bladder...

Butterflies, I am getting 'leakage' too even without a cough... Am doing my exercises but I think baby just likes head butting my bladder and making wee come out!! but it could also be mucas or sweat so not worrying too much... Think I will mention it to my midwife at my next appointment just to be sure though. I have done a google and it seems to be normal at this stage though.

28 weeks not much longer!!

buterflies · 23/12/2011 21:07

My baby is breech at the moment so I think he must be resting his bottom on my bladder as the slightest cough and I 'leak', not good but at least I know its normal.

Cannot wait until March, only 12 weeks left but it feels like forever. Am feeling a little bit down about the whole gestational diabeties situation. I have a horrid cold and to be told I cant have chocolate sucks!
I know its only a temporary situation but typical to find out just before christmas lol.

babydust27 · 28/12/2011 10:23

Did everyone have a good xmas? Ive been at work for the last 3 days for the january sales but im off from tomorrow and not back til weds :-)

Ive got my 31 week midwife appointment tomorrow afternoon and start ante natal classes next week!

ILoveMyDragon · 28/12/2011 20:38

Hi ladies!!

Hope Christmas was good for all!

Am compiling my list of essentials but one of the last things I haven't shortlisted yet is a baby monitor, I have looked at the reviews on here but just wowndered what to look out for in one as I don't have a clue where to start!

Hope the bumps are behaving!!

babydust27 · 28/12/2011 21:03

Weve bought the angelcare monitors, we wanted one of the sensor pad ones for extra peace of mind and the angelcare ones got better reviews than any other brand.

Heres the link if your interested www.johnlewis.com/231136658/Product.aspx

ZhenTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 29/12/2011 08:45

Merry Christmas everyone, haven't posted in a long while on here.

Sorry to hear about bugs, illnesses and bad midwives :(

Have been busy over Christmas as DD had D&V bug, spent Christmas morning at paediatric A&E getting her checked as she could not even keep down the dioralyte I was syringing into her, but she is back eating now at least.

On the Angelcare note, I bought mine in 2009 before we had DD, have used it everyday since she was born and it is still going strong. I have detached the sensor pad now as she is old enough for me not to worry, but it was very useful for setting my mind at rest in those early days. We were so impressed that we bought one for my SIL when she had her DD prematurely at 30 weeks. She and her partner were very happy with it, it really reassured them that she was ok, especially as her DD had a hole in the heart and often had bronchiolitis and breathing difficulties.

ZhenTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 29/12/2011 08:45

Oh 31+4 :)

CheeseandGherkins · 29/12/2011 12:18

28+5 today, had a ctg yesterday which was all good, baby is still breech and I think will stay that way. Scarlett was breech, transverse and all over the place but never really settled head down. I have low iron, 8.5, so am on liquid iron. Combination of both of those making me feel like I can't breathe which isn't fun. My GD is still going ok, getting some high readings now and then but generally controlled which is good. Baby measuring large but expected that.

Christmas was good, better and easier than I thought it would be.

Anyone else getting lots of tightenings now? I've had them on and off but yesterday and today I seem to have had quite a lot, nothing painful but quite often. Loads of movement going on, I don't think she ever sleeps!

buterflies · 30/12/2011 10:31

What do Braxton Hicks feel like? I never had them with first DS and am now 29wk today and havent had any as yet.
At least I don't think so lol.
My first DS was 13 days over and I had to be induced, am worried it might happen with this one too.

DS wasnt even 'engaged' properly, he would prob still be in there if left ha ha

AnneMarieL · 30/12/2011 11:27

Hello all! Newbie to mumsnet :)
29+5 due Mar 12 ... baby no 1, so I'm blissfully excited by it all despite all sorts of niggles and twinges and now some back pain.
SE Londoner, 37 ... oh and I am currently loving vanilla ice cream lol but sadly gone right off red wine. Not a totally bad trade off khkhkh

ILoveMyDragon · 30/12/2011 15:13

Welcome!
butterflies I'm 30 weeks today not had any yet!

I know this may sound bizarre but I'm being kicked but its kickin down, very hard to the extent I'm half expecting a foot to appear! Weird!

babydust27 · 31/12/2011 15:09

zhen did you use the sensor pad in a moses basket with the angelcare monitors?

I havent opened ours yet but was wondering if they would work with the moses as well as in the cotbed.

Hope you all enjoy your new years eve tonight. dp and i are making homemade pizzas and watching films

CheeseandGherkins · 31/12/2011 16:20

To me braxton hicks feel like contractions just milder. Tummy goes tight all over, feel quite achy low down and in my lower back at times too and last between 30 and 60 seconds. I tend to get them quite a lot.

Welcome annemarie

Ilove my baby also kicks down, she's breech still at the moment!

babydust I used an angelcare monitor with dd1 who is 10 next month and I did used it just fine in her moses basket. She stayed in it for many months as she was small and took ages to grow. I'm going to get a sensor monitor this time, all going well.

29 weeks today :)

babydust27 · 02/01/2012 09:43

I managed to get the monitor working with the moses basket, i just put a little hole in the bottom sheet and pushed the wire through the gaps in the wicker.

We have 8 weeks to go until little peanut is due!

One born every minute starts again on wednesday :-)

ILoveMyDragon · 02/01/2012 13:38

I was lookin at the angelcare wasn't sure how paranoid it would make me read good and bad things about it only in 2 bed flat so never far away. Couldn't sleep last night so started stressing about all the little things I'm goin to forget! Then the Hamster escaped which altered my stress!

LilPud · 03/01/2012 18:11

Hello everyone and Happy New Year to you all.

Can't believe this is the year our bumps will become babes in arms - is anybody else getting scared?

It's just hit me that I really don't have much for this LO yet other than some vests, babygros and a pack of scratch mitts!!! Do think I have finally settled on a pram tho so that's something. How's everyone else on the eqiupment front?

babydust27 · 03/01/2012 20:09

I think we have everything that we need now but im sure i will have forgotten something vital!!

Im having my first mug of raspberry leaf tea and it actually tastes quite nice! The midwife said to have 1 mug a day now until 34 weeks, then 3 from 36 weeks. Not sure if it will help with labour but worth a try!

I start ante-natal classes tomorrow at the hospital, feeling nervous as im not really sure what to expect.

Only 19 more work today til maternity leave!

CheeseandGherkins · 03/01/2012 20:16

I might watch one born every minute, we saw the first series then couldn't watch the one after that as we lost Scarlett but might give this one a try.

Had a ctg today, took hours though as she wouldn't stop moving and they kept losing her heartbeat. All was fine and it looks like she's now gone head down! Hope she stays that way. Still not sure what I want to do about being induced or asking for a c section. 29+3 today, hoping she arrives before 37 weeks as I'll be induced before then or section. Really not long left now.

Dh has booked a 4d scan for next Monday, looking forward to seeing what she looks like.

We still have everything we'd bought and had bought for us for Scarlett so we don't need much other than more clothes and some hospital bag stuff for me. Speaking of which, I've packed a bag for baby now and half packed mine for the hospital. Just need to buy a few more things and I'll be all set!

buterflies · 04/01/2012 10:00

cheese and gherkins
So glad everything is going well. Keep us updated. x

LilPud · 04/01/2012 20:19

Oh dear, I clearly need to get a wriggle on!

A 4d scan sounds fab Cheese, glad everything is going well. Don't think I have the budget tho :(

Went to my first ante natal class today - mw that took the class pulled no punches! Basically it's gonna hurt. That is all.
