Ladies, our previous thread was getting full so here is a lovely new shiny home for us all.

I've put some comfy cushions around and plenty of pregnancy safe snacks and drinks. The Segway park is in the corner over there next to the stack of glittery vom buckets (plenty of extra buckets too for all the newbies).

In the corner over here you'll find our library of leaflets including sections on early pregnancy private scan clinics, pushchairs and car seats.

Hope you all like it very much :)

Thanks jaggy Smile

dreamfeeder · 11/10/2011 20:09

Me too scarlet, I'll hold the other one! Oh, hang on, your Dh will have that one. I'll hold a foot.

I'm still stressing about miscarriage of one or both babies. While I would love the sickness to stop I can't see it happening soon if ever this pg but I'm DESPERATE to get into the viable stage. And not 24 weeks. I for one havent met an ex-24 week twin ( though i do see a reasonable 24 week single baby, but still quite severely disabled). Now, that is not positive No Brooking. I shall stop. I'll be desperate for them to arrive at 37 weeks and they'll be showing no sign of turning up. End of.

jaggy, still think you or bartlet could be on for twins with me Grin . Can't wait for the scanathon. scarlet will of course be publicly out with her little wriggler by then

dreamfeeder · 11/10/2011 20:11

Oh, and scarlet, with you on the boobs, no increase so far. I did go from a B to a D last time. Wearing a C today and it seems ok... Maybe I'll reach the pinnacle of the D again!!!! After the birth with bf only of course...

jaggythistle · 11/10/2011 20:14

I was normally a D/DD, ended up E/F I think. Am wearing the dame crappy bras so you'd think I'd know. I'm at work though so I can't subtly have a look Grin

jaggythistle · 11/10/2011 20:15

same. FFS I can't type tonight. I have MNed all shift I am so going to be in a rush to get everything finished and go home!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 11/10/2011 20:23

Good luck Scarlet! hope everything is perfect! I soooo share your feelings about keeping this secret! For some reason it's been twice as hard to not tell people this week, I'm really looking forward to "coming out" Grin

I find the asking for seats thing to be a tricky one. I've had sciatica in my back for years, and sometimes on my way home after a long day in the office I can really be in a lot of pain. However the only thing people around me see is a non-pg girl in her twenties. I've been asked for a seat by an old lady before and I felt I had to give her the seat, but it was pure torture for me standing the rest of the way home. I'm hoping the badge will be sufficient to get a seat when I need it, but if necessary I'll also adjust my hours at work to avoid peak rush times so I can get a seat without shifting anyone. I'm just not comfortable guessing who "doesn't need" their seat.

Dream I can't even compare to how difficult your puking has been (so glad that's starting to improve ignoring today ) but I had a little taste of the embarrassment today. I've been able to avoid puking up in the office so far, mainly by eating next to nothing all day long! Today, for no apparent reason, I couldn't hold it any longer and had to make a mad dash to the loos! There I puked like a good 'un! There were people in the other cubicles while I was in there, so I had an audience, yay! So glad I can tell people next week if the scan is okay because the rumors will be in full force by now!

musicalmrs · 11/10/2011 20:32

Good luck with the scan tomorrow scarlet!

hawthers, I don't always feel that bad, but have done a few times recently. Maybe I should ask - I'm a bit shy and reclusive though, so until I have a badge/bump to back me up, I think I'll feel a bit odd doing it!

BartletForAmerica · 11/10/2011 23:27

just up briefly for something to eat. Went to bed straight after DS tonight at 7pm. I've got an 8 week scan tomorrow evening so will hopefully report back after that. Will be thinking of you tomorrow too, scarlet.

Biscuitsandtea · 12/10/2011 06:52

Oooh good luck Bartlet for tomorrow evening - let us know xx (and to Scarlet again for today). I'm brooking so hard for everyone I don't even have the energy to get out of bed.... Smile

Or even this evening!

OP posts:
musicalmrs · 12/10/2011 08:02

Scream, missed your post yesterday about sciatica! I feel your pain (literally), as I had sciatica symptoms for a bulging disk in my spine (disk was pressing on the sciatic nerve, causing pain and numbness, mainly down my legs!). I really struggled then... but didn't ask for a seat for the same reason! I have started not giving up my seat though - and if I'm questioned I'll point out both the back pain and updiffedness!

Good luck for today Bartlet!

hawthers · 12/10/2011 10:05

dream hope this is reassuring and not worrying but i know a 23+5 single who is not disabled although is a little delayed in development but is steadily getting there. I also know twin 26 weekers who are big fat and right on time with their development. your twins WILL NOT COME EARLY due to intense brooking from all of us here but if they did arrive slightly before they are expected it doesn't necessarily mean bad things. hope that helps a little bit?

musical tbh i've only asked for a seat once when a very able pushy lady barged on in front of me and grabbed the last seat. was feeling rather indignant and particularly tired so it just popped out of my mouth. felt very Blush afterwards. plus it was a priority seat which are supposed to go to pg or those less able to stand etc.

other top tips for commuters if the train is full on some lines you are entitled to go and sit in first class. my train co doesn't do this but for some if you send in proof of pg they will send you a card so that you can use first class if there are no seats elsewhere. my train co sends you a poxy card that you can use to turf people out of priority seats so you still have to say something so not much help

dreamfeeder · 12/10/2011 11:44

hawthers, thats really good!!! and 23+5 is absolutely allowed to be a bit delayed, what a miracle. I did once meet twin 28 weekers where one was referred but both were bang on as far as I could see (one just further ahead than the other)- 26 is even better!! I just have skewed judgement because we only see the ex-prems/ prems referred because they do have issues (obviously!!).

I have felt a bit better today. I puked til 11pm yesterday and had a little cry about how I was DONE with the sickness, and the message seems to have got through fingers crossed, No Brooking .

Any news yet scarlet? Popped on to see how you're doing and wait for your news

Have a lovely scan this evening bartlet, hope you feel better incredibly soon, this sickness business is no fun. Let us know as soon as oyu can, we'll all be waiting expectantly for your news!

scream, grim about your back. Get shoving them off seats. Public vomming is hideous, at least they'll have an inkling why (I assume) and you'll be out on Friday!!

dreamfeeder · 12/10/2011 12:12

oh- and I did see the midwife today. She finally got blood after 2 or 3 goes and much whinging about my rubbish veins. Then when I said I was really surprised it was twins she looked super shocked, and went back through my notes (she'd missed that!)... I asked about the blood test for Downs which won't work for twins, obviously, to see if I could have a nuchal fold scan instead (mostly just so I could see the little tikes again on a scan!). That is one of the reasons our hospital trust is on Red Alert apparently, by law they have to be trained to do nuchal fold scans by next year but so far thy can't and don't... doh. I'd have to pay £230 to go to Leeds (Leeds!!!) privately. That won't be happening...

scarletfingernail · 12/10/2011 14:10

I'm back from my scan.

All is well. My due date has been brought forward from April 26th to April 20th. So I'm now 12+5 rather than 11+6. (Strange as the shagathon hadn't even started for it to be that much earlier, but I'm not complaining). The bean was really on the move and gave us a couple of waves.

Had my NT screening. The sonographer wouldn't tell me the measurement, but it's been written in my notes as 1.2mm which I believe is within the normal range. Just got to wait for it to be calculated with the blood results and my age and hopefully I'll get that letter soon confirming low risk (fingers crossed).

We've made a couple of telephone calls to tell family members since we got back, but most of our friends will probably find out over the weekend.

The bad news is, I had my first ever pregnancy puke this morning Sad while I was brushing my teeth. I've felt really sick all day since then, but luckily haven't puked since then. I really hope it's not starting.

Hope you're all ok today, Bartlett I'm looking forward to reading your scan update later.

jenfraggle · 12/10/2011 14:17

Glad to hear the scan went well scarlet

Wants3 · 12/10/2011 14:29

Hi everyone. I am having a sofa day today as I am sooo tired! This is mainly due to being at the hospital with my sister from midnight mon til 9pm tues pacing the corridors. Finally sent home at 3 cms and everything stopped. I am sure it will all kick off again tonight so am resting instead of going into work.

Biscuitsandtea · 12/10/2011 14:46

Yay! Great scan news Scarlet - really pleased for you. And skipping forward almost a week too - double yay! Grin

Boo to the vomming though - hope it was a one off. I always found I felt more sick on scan days - nerves I guess, but it was just the same as I had every other day just worserererer

How exciting to get to tell everyone - hope you enjoy that bit Smile. Feels like ages ago that we got to spill the beans!

Just checked my scan measurement and it was 1.3 at 12+3.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 12/10/2011 16:27

Congrats to Scarlet! That sounds like a great scan, I think the measurement can go up to 2.something and still be fine, so that's a great result. I'll still be No Brooking for good blood test results of course, but it all sounds very positive!

Soooo jealous about skipping a week! I'm a little nervous because I feel like my bump/swelling/general fatness hasn't increased at all in the last couple of weeks, so now I'm worried the little bean will be developing slowly and they'll set me back a few days! ARGH!!! (Of course I was stressing about getting too fat too fast before, and now I'm wondering if I'm growing too slowly, so basically there's no pleasing me and I should just give up!)

Good luck to Bartlet for the scan this eve!

Dream that's extremely Envy about your hospital not being able to do the nuchal scan for you. The NHS postcode lottery is so frustrating! My cousin-in-law has just taken on a new role in NHS management where he'll be responsible for going around the country and establishing what best practice should be, and then implementing minimum standards/services all hospitals will have to meet. Fingers crossed by the end of the process it'll be less of a lottery what services are available in different pcts!

Best of luck to both Wants and your sister!! I'll be thinking of you both tonight! Please give us an update when it's all over (when you can bear to take a break from cooing over the new mini person of course!)

Biscuitsandtea · 12/10/2011 17:46

Flipping heck, DS has juyst wee'd all over my TV unit SadAngryShock

I know I'm supposed to be all 'well done darling, now next time why don't we try and get it in the toilet or the potty' but seriously, weeing on my sky box is A. Big. Deal.

Gah!

Brooking for Bartlet

That sounds like an election campaign if ever I heard one :)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 12/10/2011 18:17

Grin at Biscuits' son's unfortunate aim! Sounds rather frustrating!

Finally escaped work and it's only an hour to my indep mw appt now! Excited!

Biscuitsandtea · 12/10/2011 18:19

oooh, Scream I had forgotten your appt was today - I look forward to hearing all about it. I do hope she doesn't gab on too long so you can get back on here tonight and fill us all in?

Wasn't there something specific you were going to ask her, about something your mw gave you the brush off about or something? I have a vague recollection of suggesting you ask the independent mw about something?

Enjoy it and have fun xx

dreamfeeder · 12/10/2011 19:44

Oooh, scream, can't wait for your update!!!

And yes, I wish I wasn't in a red alert for shit maternity care trust, but fingers crossed. They do HAVE to up their game now, but it'll all happen too late for me. There is no option wither- I'm not going 30 miles down 3 mototrway junctions to next hospital.

Good luck again bartlet
