Ladies, our previous thread was getting full so here is a lovely new shiny home for us all.

I've put some comfy cushions around and plenty of pregnancy safe snacks and drinks. The Segway park is in the corner over there next to the stack of glittery vom buckets (plenty of extra buckets too for all the newbies).

In the corner over here you'll find our library of leaflets including sections on early pregnancy private scan clinics, pushchairs and car seats.

Hope you all like it very much :)

Sorry to hear about all the puking Jen hope you feel better soon. It's always annoying when the policy of your local doctor is different to someone else's! Hope your nausea passes soon!

Glad to hear Dream is having a relatively low puke day! Fingers crossed it's the start of the end of the evil puking!

The bra thing is a strange one. My boobs have been really sore since the very beginning, so I've been petrified they're quadrupling in size! However so far I can still wear my normal bras (DD - underwired). I think the discomfort is the sensitivity rather than my boobs actually growing, if that makes sense? So hopefully yours might be the same Biscuits?

My DH v kindly arranged a flu jab for me today. I had to book it for fri because I'm "working from home" all day before my scan anyway. Not looking forward to a jab in the morn followed by a blood test in the afternoon! Yay for needle fun, sigh Sad

One last piece of randomness: my friend at work who's also pg ordered a "Baby On Board" London Transport button ages ago, and it finally arrived today. But they sent her two so she gave one to me!! It's crazy how excited it made me! (Yes I am that sad!) I can only say I think it's because I've been staring at women on the train wearing these buttons for months, and now I have one! Yay! Blush I'll be quiet now...

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 21:03

Scream, they are sensitive (which the weren't when pg with ds) but I think my bra problem is my rib cage expanding.

When I got pg with DS my back size went up very soon but not the cup really until after he was born.

This time the cup went up straight away and I think the back size is going now.

If I do have to buy again I think I'll get some more underwired (no one wants to see H cups in a non wired bra Hmm) but might get a non wired for days like today when I'm at home. I know I can take it off but to be honest that isn't that comfy either Confused

My Bravissimo 30GG bras were actually not that hideous. That said, I've been wearing them now for over a year now so am looking forward to having wired bras for a bit. I am just feeding DS at his bedtime now but it is getting uncomfortable. I think I might carry on until 12 weeks and then think about whether to drop that last feed. Whatever I do, I am getting back into normal bras!

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 21:25

last time when i was pg i think my cup size was at a J or something (so bigger than this time round) and when i was bf it went out of the top of Bravissimo's range Shock. The only place I could find to get them was one style that the NCT did. That was IT!!!

I am so hoping I stay within the Bravissimo sizes this time.....

Biscuits thank you for the train tips. I think it is actually more like 4 and a half hours but four doesn't sound so bad! No changes so at least we can settle in for the duration. I have been out and got some headphones and am going to take my laptop and (hopefully) she can watch 3rd and Bird and other assorted nonsense for most of the time. I have prepared enough sandwiches for the whole carriage and I have TWO bumper sticker books. I am prepared.

However, DD has a strange rash with some blisters on her bottom and her ankle, and possibly the soles of her feet, so it's possible we will be going no where. I will have to see how she is when she wakes up. if it is chicken pox obviously we will be staying put but does anyone know if it's ok to be out in public with hand, foot and mouth? (I posted in children's health and the general consensus was that it was most likely to be one of those two).

I have to admit to feeling very sorry for myself at the thought of not being able to go. I haven't been to visit my sis since I was pregnant last time and as DH is away this week I would miss out on my jolly and be stuck at home with an ill toddler on my own. And,I can't envisage being able to afford to book it all again any time soon. The dog has already gone to the dog sitter and the train tickets are non refundable. Bah and humph Sad

However I am pleased to read that dream was only sick three times! You'll defo be able to send your pills to Jen now!

BartletForAmerica · 10/10/2011 21:30

Meconium, immunity for last year's swine flu injection probably only lasts for 9 months, so probably worth getting it again just for that, although obviously there are different strains every year.

BartletForAmerica · 10/10/2011 21:34

Oh my, Biscuits! Shock I won't complain any more about my bra size, and to think, i used to complain about thinking I was flat-chested as a teenager!

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 21:39

Oh it's my own fault Bartlet for being chubby! If the rest of me was the right weight my boobs would be a commercial (rather than industrial) size.... Blush

fishcake - the advice at the docs is to not quarantine hand, foot and mouth (which it sounds like your dd has) and to proceed as normal despite the fact it is infectious. Dd's nursery wouldn't have her though till all the spots had blistered over. I would say go for it unless she gets them in her mouth at which point she'll be very miserable!

hawthers · 11/10/2011 10:30

fishcake i don't think you need to quarantine hand foot and mouth. DS had it last year and just lost his appetite for a week or so but was pretty chirpy otherwise so hopefully that will be all you get (although you might be left with piles of sandwiches on the train...)

dream well done with only three vomms - clearly the brooking is working overy there. hope this is the start of a repreive?

scream was just looking at my baby on board badge this morning. sorry to say that in my last pg it made so little difference that i've not worn it this time. BUT yesterday i got given a seat on both the train and the tube on the way in and on the way out. mind you i was feeling rather ill and looking the size of a house these days at nearly 30 weeks bloomingly pregnant i'm not sure they could miss me! my only way to get a seat when all seem to be wearing blinkers is to politely ask someone if they NEED that seat? (and stick out one's pg tum) - lots of people suddenly hop up for that one. (only brave enough to use it once though!)

dreamfeeder · 11/10/2011 12:46

hawthers, good skills with the seat. Seriously, people stay sat down while a heavily pregnant lady stands there is the aisle!?!?!? I assume you're london with it being the tube?

4 voms so far today and no food still down so far, boo! But, in between I feel better, and I felt better than I have in the last 2 months last night until I went to bed and the nausea got me again , so yes, this IS the beginning of a reprieve

The midwife cancelled my booking in appointment today, 10 min before she was due. Fair do's, she was on call and had to go and attend a home birth but I couldn't help being a bit disappointed, as I'd got my dad up (he lives 50 miles away) early specially to look after DD etc etc. It wouldn't have mattered having my dad around if it was only one baby, I don't really have any questions having done that before and knowing what ante-natal care to expect etc etc so could have kept my eye on the monkey one myself. But twins, I have questions galore!!!! And DD is a major accident-seeking, attention-demanding distraction.

My friend with twins was lovely yesterday, super excited. A double pram would def not fit through her front door! They have a driveway though, so she didn't have that problem with her own house. Her girls are also very excited at twins coming. She has already offered tiny girls clothes! DD spent a lot of time kissing her DS yesterday. He is a climbing menace, and got all the way into our tumble dryer faster than you could say 'where's he gone?!' Made me grateful for small mercies that DD not doing that yet!

Have you gone fishcake? Are you on the train? Hope so, and your DD is better...

dreamfeeder · 11/10/2011 12:48

oh, and do I REALLY have to wait until 29th December to be 24 weeks, and 12 Jan to be 26 weeks?!?!?! Goodness, that's a lot of weeks to worry through til then... And you can hardly call that a good number of weeks either.

hawthers · 11/10/2011 13:08

deep breaths dream it will pass - and you will sail along just fine until 36 weeks at least . can't quite believe i'm nearly at 30 weeks now. although i am having bizarre moments where i take the pg forgetfullness thing to a new extreme and slightly forget that i'm actually pg and then get surprised by my bump in a passing mirror/shop window - worrying!

yes in london with the tube - tbh recently people have been much better because i eclipse the sun am clearly pg not just fat! but yes there are quite a few of selectively blind people around. fortunately i'm a bit of a gobby shite at heart and will be very happy from now on to shout if i need a seat.

musicalmrs · 11/10/2011 16:52

Scream, I hadn't heard about those buttons! How wonderful! I'll have to get myself one...

I commute into London pretty much every day. I must confess, that on the mornings when I've been feeling completely atrocious, I have literally sat down in the gangway/near the doors. I've been careful not to be in anyone's way (and move if I am), but I struggle with standing for the whole journey at the moment!

When I'm more obviously pregnant I'll definitely use one of those buttons, and employ hawthers's tactics! I love the idea of asking if they need that seat! I also hate how unobservant some people are on the tube - those and the ones that glance up, see someone who deserves a seat, and yet ignore them...

My DH was very ill on the way home from work in central London a couple of months ago- he was literally green. An old lady offered up her seat, he said "I couldn't possibly take it" but she insisted (and he needed it!). She walked further up the carriage and then badgered some other people to give her a seat! Wonderful tactics. Maybe I should employ an old lady to ensure I always get one..

dream - It'll fly by- especially with so many of us brooking for you!

hawthers · 11/10/2011 17:03

from the tfl website

Baby on board badges
Pregnant women can also wear a 'Baby on board' badge to let other passengers know they may need a seat. These are available from our Customer Service Centre by calling 0845 330 9880 or emailing [email protected].

the priority seats are supposed to be given up when asked for to a pg 'lady'. if you are feeling that bad dream i'd just go and ask now? btw i find men in their mid thirties to be the most observant and willing to give up their seats - would have thought they would be most unlikely but i think that maybe their wife is pg or trying to get pg and they sympathise.

dreamfeeder · 11/10/2011 17:21

I'm nowhere near London hawthers, Up North (eee, it's grim up north!!). I drive everywhere really as we live in a village. Today I have had a bad day for the sickness- clearly just a relapse from my improvement that IS happening but I've vommed all day and I'm STARVING This included the public humiliation of stopping on the windy road into the village not wide enough to pass me while oncoming traffic approaches, at approaching rush hour when there's a good few people on the road, not once but twice holding up at least 4 cars behind me while I wretched into the gutter Blush. I also had a panic I popped a tyre hitting the kerb at 15mph trying to get out way and stop FAST. Luckily it hadn't!!!

dreamfeeder · 11/10/2011 17:22

musical, when will it start flying?!

hawthers · 11/10/2011 17:28

sorry dream I meant musical oh dear think i'd better go home

scarletfingernail · 11/10/2011 19:05

dream I'm with you completely about time going slowly and I've not been anywhere near as ill as you. Good to hear you had a lovely visit with your twin friend and so sweet her DDs are excited for you.

I admit I'm slightly jealous of the large bras that some of you are wearing. My boobs just do not grow! They more or less stayed the same when pg and BFing DS and it's seems to be the same this time. The one pregnancy symptom I would have welcomed and I've not so much as gone up one cupsize Sad

12 week scan tomorrow. Eeeeek. Excited, anxious, terrified etc but will be such a relief to finally come out (so to speak) if when we find out all is well.

jaggythistle · 11/10/2011 19:07

My thoughts exactly scarlet! My appointment isn't until lunchtime - when's yours? Fed up having a big secret too. :)

scarletfingernail · 11/10/2011 19:23

10.40 tomorrow morning jaggy I thought you were Friday with scream and meconium. Is yours tomorrow too? Will be nice to have a scan buddy for some mental hand holding if it is.

pommedechocolat · 11/10/2011 19:29

Lots of good scan wishes to both of you for tomorrow!

jaggythistle · 11/10/2011 19:35

I am on Friday I am just being mad. In my head you said Friday not tomorrow Blush

jaggythistle · 11/10/2011 19:35

Maybe I just wish tomorrow was Friday. I'll hold your hand anyway! Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 11/10/2011 19:40

Good luck tomorrow Scarlet and for the scanathon gang on the 14th :)
