Taking liberties again Grin as there are only 5 posts to go on old thread. Hope everyone is well this morning!

Staceroo · 17/09/2011 10:14

Morning all,

Caz hope everything is going well for you today?

Folic glad to see you are so much more cheerful this morning, your first post made me laugh!

We're off on errands today, including a possible furniture purchase for the nursary and looking for a changing bag and stuff to go in it!

Have a nice weekend all xx

voodoomunkee · 17/09/2011 10:15

Folic did you say that JL didnt have them in in the shop? I checked last night and they were saying that if they dont have them in the shop then the website is your best bet. Sorry if I am being dim, I havent eaten yet today and my head is battered re prams etc. I think I need to persuade OH to come back to town with me :( He is NOT going to be happy!!

voodoomunkee · 17/09/2011 10:20

ha sorry Folic, I was jumping the gun! hehe. Right OH is up, time to go do some chores.... and go treat myself to something nice for breakfast/brunch! I shall hopefully have a cot and a pram by the end of the day!

Folicacid · 17/09/2011 10:23

Staceroo thanks me dear, you enjoy your day...I'm feeling better after 7 hours sleep (although not in one stretch) and I'm lying in bed still mning and no work. Happy days.

Voodoo now you have me confused! There's two different thing, 1. compact carry cot (for ickle mini babies) 2. Bassinet (bit bigger). JL stock the first.

And have some breakfast lady, sheesh I have to eat within literally 4 minutes of getting up these days or feel crappy.

Merlioness · 17/09/2011 10:28

OK...could you see if you can click on my MN name and see the gallery? Otherwise try this link?

Enjoy Staceroo and don't worry voodoo mine found the technical aspect of looking at strollers quite interesting :)

PamSco · 17/09/2011 10:30

Morning all. Caz fingers are crossed that everything has calmed down. Try to be calm, deep breathing give Xander your calmest thoughts.

Folic you are sounding a bit more chipper - good one.

Ziggi thanks for the offer of picking up the crib, I'm really going to try and get down as I haven't seen my niece for ages. You have a safe trip.

Hope everyone else is surviving the last days of work. I worked some really late nights last week which doesn't bother me too much but it was such pointless tasks - really illogical I was getting very very angry. So yesterday I downed tools at noon and informed my boss I was off to town to do everything I hadn't done on late night shopping. He was all "but this" "but that". I just put my hand up and said "please be calm, this is how it is" and walked out.

Nice 2 hours in JL, got moses basket and car seat and a BIG cake! Back to work and carried on regardless. Sometimes bosses need reminding they are only bosses by virtue of having co-operative employees. If you aren't paid overtime then you gift those extra hours and the return favour is flexibility and consideration - that's how I treat any one who works for me - give and take. Still 6 weeks to go :(

Had the massive tummy pain again yesterday - vomiting is instant relief so it must be my gluttony causing it. Had a gorgeous 3 course Italian meal with friends, need to eat less :(

voodoomunkee · 17/09/2011 10:43

'bosses are only bosses by virtue of having co-operative employees' - HA! Love it Pam!! My boss is lovely but I shall bear this in mind for when I have to go back to my other role and dont love my boss so much as I am more qualified than her.... lol.

Folic am definitely shutting up if I have confused you more!!! Sorry!! I have found getting OH to go on the websites and work out the technical aspects of what fits, what is what bit etc has helped me not bamboozle myself! I would expect to buy the bassinette rather than a compact then - maybe I have just muddled up the prams?

Merlioness OH was quite well behaved last night when we were pram hunting as it was not long or drawn out but he will not cope two days running!!! I did promise to buy him a pint last night but it was too cold and we were too hungry so didnt get - I may reoffer the bribe Wink he is currently staring into space having just got out of bed.....

Folicacid · 17/09/2011 10:45

Merlioness thanks so much for the instructional photos, looks pretty simple really. I think I could probably just order online...ooooooooh.

PamSco you are quite right. I've taken off Monday despite all the things i have to do, I have way more than given them the extra 8 hours over the last week. Glad you had a lovely JL trip. I am feeling more chipper, I've not caught up on any of the sleep I've missed at all this week but by having a longer sleep- 7hours woohoo- even though was awake between 3 and 5 I feel more human and not sick to stomach. I'm going to Glasgow this evening but don't intend to step over the door during the day.

Folicacid · 17/09/2011 10:48

oh and Pam I'm a bit jealous of your three course meal. Even if you spewed it back up you must have enjoyed it at the time. I'm down to eating half a main meal in the evenings only, feel like baby is basically sleeping in my stomach so get stupidly full. I was even the same with Sunday lunch last week.

Still, I'm no saint, I'm managing to choke down plenty of biscuits and cakes during the day Grin

cep · 17/09/2011 10:50

morning ladies,

caz i hope you're doing ok.

not sure if i'm Envy or relieved that i don't have to worry about pram.

Merlioness · 17/09/2011 10:56

Voodoo reoffer that bribe. You could have a pub lunch?
I agree, the trips mustn't be too long. Mine gets so bored, so I try to be quick, or I send him to do whatever he fancies first, whilst I take a slow stroll through Mothercare and then call him to meet me with a ready list :)

Folic I am so glad you were able to see the pictures. Yep, it is really simple and really easy. Even taking the attachments off and putting the canvas seat back on shouldn't be too difficult.

Pam I like the thought! I have been working long hours, as I was promoted just in March and felt I had to do the best I could, as I got my BFP after 2 weeks in the new role. Oops! I am also the only employee here in Singapore, so I am working extra hard and long now to get everything done in time and to leave everything in a state where a new person can take over at some point. Sooo knackered and I was meant to write documentation and haven't finished it and felt so bad. I had no motivation at all yesterday. My boss seemed really disappointed :(
Hey ho, 10 more working days and then finally rest! Though have to get through one more upgrade support on-site on Monday :(

Hope everyone has a good weekend with the various trips, shopping excursions and relaxation

CazandBelle · 17/09/2011 11:34

Difficult to scan thread as crappy signal on phone. Hope everyone else is fine.

Everything started to settle down yday afternoon. Drugs wore off again at 330am so have had contractions again since, not as intense though. 15 Mins apartor more on average. Don't think anything is really happening as it all feels faffy now. Weekend doc won't make any long term decisions past Monday so have to wait to see my normal consultant for her to make a plan now. In until at least then. I hope they will keep me here till he is born. X

Folicacid · 17/09/2011 11:39

Caz good to hear that things have settled down, although obviously still scary. At least they weekend doctor is not panicking to make a decision. I hope you are getting some rest if you can.

Merlioness · 17/09/2011 12:38

Caz glad it seems to be settling down a little.
Let your Consultant know that you want to stay in until Xander is safely in your arms. Surely they will understand? Yes, I think with your history I would push them to keep you in. Have Jon support your wishes if needs be, though judging by the sound of your consultant this should be no issue!

Hope you can keep resting. x

BuffyFan · 17/09/2011 12:42

Caz glad to hear that things are (hopefully) settling down, but sorry you've been going through a rough time. I can only echo others and say you're in the right place, and glad you're being looked after.

voodoo and others having a rough time, hope things look up soon. There's not much to say that others haven't already said - hope you're getting the RL world support you need from somebody, anyway.

I haven't wanted to post for a while because (a) my carpal tunnel is rubbish and I'm trying not to type outside of work too much and (b) there's nothing really wrong with me. I know this isn't just a place to vent problems and concerns but I do feel bad for saying "everything's fine tra la la"....

I have spent the last fortnight absolutely paranoid about the movement I'm feeling though. I'll be on the verge of calling MW or going into the hospital because I haven't felt anything in hours when the little so-and-so will start wriggling again. But I'm feeling movement every day, so I'm not worried worried, just fretting, I guess. My only real concern is that (as far as I can tell) he's breach and staying that way, because most of the movement I'm feeling is great big kicks to the bladder and nether regions, and squirms up top. Honestly sometimes it feels like there's a foot making a break for freedom!

PMA: I am endlessly grateful for a DH who is being (or pretending to be, anyway) calm, helpful, concerned and loving, and a workplace that is being supportive and understanding when I leave work on time every day while everybody else stays late. I am just so sorry that not everybody is experiencing the same :(

mashpot · 17/09/2011 12:52

Caz good to hear from you and hope they continue looking after you well in hospital, you're doing a great job.

I'm super excited by this baby jogger talk, after we discussed this buggy on an earlier thread I decided this is what we would get (not bought yet obviously but at least a decision made!) but I had no idea there was a bassinet available that was bigger than the carrycot!

I had also decided not to get a Moses basket and was mildly worrying about putting baby straight into a cot but the buggy carrycot looked too small to sleep in so if I can get the bassinet this could be the answer to everything! Sorry, I'm garbling. Folic have you found the bassinet available anywhere? Oh gosh, I could order all buggy stuff this weekend and would finally have made my first baby purchase!

In other news my house is a tip and smells of nitromours (sp?) but I have escaped for a haircut in town to prepare for a wedding I'm going to on Friday.

I hope everyone else is enjoying the weekend. pamsco I am joining you on the 6 weeks left in work countdown.

Folicacid · 17/09/2011 13:11

mashpot I got a quote online from bambino direct for bassinet and the BJCM and accessories etc but I've just checked to send you a link and I don't see it on their website now. Gah. Be worth while phoning them though I thought their service was pretty good over the phone and they sent a quote on email within minutes.

I don't think baby jogger matresses are suitable for overnight sleeping though, you'd have to check that out. I'm sure if you do a search on MN there is a discussion about it.

cookie9 · 17/09/2011 13:35

Thanks for the advice everyone. Haven't posted sooner as fingers have swollen up to sausage size. Trying to get my rings off as will be upset if they have to be cut off. The things people don't tell you before you get pregnant!

Caz hope things are ok with you.

Pamsco sorry to hear you have been unwell again.

All our baby stuff apart from Moses basket arrived yesterday including my birthing ball which I can't wait to try out. Physio going well and hip pain improving.

Hils74 · 17/09/2011 14:04

Hi ladies, been lurking and catching up on the new thread. Sorry to hear that some of you are having a hard time at home and at work. Fx it all gets better for you.

caz sorry to hear that you are threatening prem labour again, but I second the others, you are definately in the best place. Hopefully they'll keep you in.

It's lovely to read that our two LO's are doing so well, come on girls :)

Have now only got 4 weeks of work left, but none of them are full weeks so fx it goes really quickly. It's not a bad place to work but I just can't wait to get out of there :)

Caliphora · 17/09/2011 14:12

Man, I'm getting tired now! Went to IKEA yesterday, but nearly fainted halfway through - only meatballs helped me recover! Hand and feet are so bad now, and I think I exhausted bub to, as she's moving less vigorously today. (Don't worry I'm counting kicks and have my hand on the phone...)

Caz all appendages crossed here - stay safe!

Can I just pipe in with a mattress recommendation? Don't get sprung mattresses - they're a waste of money. Even though the springs are smaller, they are still too big to actually make a difference - a good latex or cold-foam mattress is much, much better for their backs, and will help prevent a flat head.

Now, I'm going to nap - did weekly shop at Tesco and it's exhausted me.

Hils74 · 17/09/2011 14:48

cali thanks for the tip on mattresses, was looking at a sprung or foam, but will now look at all the foam choices!! :)

cep · 17/09/2011 15:06

caz so glad things are going well at hte moment. Just make sure the consultants know what you want to do.

my moses basket has been delivered by my parents this morning, apparently the only thing that was broken on it was the hood, which we don't use anyway, so yay.

I also now have my new baby bag, I went for the skiphop bento in the end, which my parents bought for me so chuffed with it, i'll use it as the hospital bag for the baby stuff.

i have 2 weeks and 2 days left (10 working days) will be so relieved when i've finished am away for the first week at friends and then my parents am really looking forward to it.

Caliphora · 17/09/2011 16:55

Hils - my mum has sold mattresses for a living for 20 years - her bedding expertise is probably one of the few perks of her job (she's bringing me an anti-allergen ball-fibre baby blanket!).

voodoomunkee · 17/09/2011 17:41

Drumroll!! I have bought a pram! And a cot! Well technically I havent... My MIL has bought us a pram! My mum has bought us a cot!! I actually think we got quite a bargain in the end. I went for the M&P Sola. So for £275 we got the pram chassis, seat unit, raincover and because of the offer in Fenwicks we also got the car seat. Then MIL decided that it wasn't a 'proper' pram as it didnt have a carrycot. JUst happened that the carrycot was half price! Down from £160 to £80. MIL then bought the clips to clip on the car seat to chassis and that was that! I bought the cosy toes once she had left as I think she would have tried to buy that too if she could have. So I feel pretty happy that we have got a lovely pram that we both like and that MIL was happy paying for. My mum ordered the cot and thanks to Cali's advice I am going to not bother with the sprung mattress and get a cold foam one :) Cheers Cali!

Caz, I truly think you might get your wish to stay in til Xander is here. I hope that you do so you can have some proper rest and put your mind at ease.

I am exhausted after a trip to town but fired up and after winning a M&P mobile on ebay this morning am now looking for a carrier for OH to carry the bubs in as I have seen him coveting them on our shopping trips! Hope everyone is ok and has a nice relaxing Sat night. Takeaway and XFactor for me I think!

SnoozleDoozle · 17/09/2011 18:29

Everyone sounds in much better form today, which is great. I'll include myself in that, I had an embarassingly long rant yesterday about my job, which with the benefit of a proper night's sleep (first time in ages that I have had that!) doesn't seem as bad today. A bit bad, but not as bad!

Hope you all have a nice evening. I had friends here all afternoon, and now I'm putting feet up and DH is cooking some lovely fajitas for us. Yum!
