addicted - hear hear - in fact, the baby is trying to put on weight atm, so you need to rest to allow that to happen. Eat sensibly by all means, but no working out other than walking, pregnancy yoga/pilates or swimming type activities.

In fact, after the telling off I got from the GP last week I'm getting paranoid even about going for walks because I'm so tired, but I'm trying to be sensible and rational.

Dh and I started on the mobile last night - he made the wooden frame and I got two of the felt ornaments cut out and put together, though I still need to stitch round them. Am feeling very satisfied with all the crafty stuff, though am going to have to pull my finger out if it's all to be finished in time!

Ugh. I have a meeting tomorrow I really need to prepare for, but all I want to do is eat tonnes of chocolate and go to bed...

cakes, this is the first time in my life that I am doing sensible exercise! Yey me!

Interviewed someone for my maternity cover today, which was fun! We ran over so I did have to dash to my 25 week appt (like oeisha) and then had really high blood pressure, which wasn't ideal. But everything else was spot on - perfect and easily found heart rate, bump measurement was bang on, GP was lovely and wrote me a letter so that the airline can't kick me off, weight was ok (to GP at least - I've put on 27 lbs Shock but I guess I can knock a few off as was in all clothes and heels). Then he remeasured my BP and it was back down at the lowest it has shown all pregnancy. The only minor wibble was a bit of blood in my urine so he's sending off to the lab for extra tests. Am not worried as it can happen, but has anyone else had this so far? Finally I had the flu jab so all in all it was a sucessful appointment I think!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 05/10/2011 13:13

I have my 25 week GP appt tonight. Hoping they don;t decide to do the flu jab on the spot as I had a bad reaction to it last time and I have a really important meeting tomorrow...
Oh well, we'll see!

Am curious to see how much weight I've put on, esp since I'm not sure how much I weighed pre-pregnancy, but I guess they'd have the measurements from the 8 week appt which would do.

Hope the urine turns out to be a nothing ghost - I've only had this when I've had to give a sample whilst I was mestruating I think, which is why they ask, so not sure whether it's a problem during pregnancy or not. Will keep my fingers crossed for you anyway.

and fish - I hear you I hear you I hear you. No motivation, not concentration, just generally a really bad case of cba.

ParsleyLion1 · 05/10/2011 13:18

I am still "working out" and have been advised to continue to do so while I can by the Physio and MW. It all depends what you did pre-pg - I have had to tone down the cardio a lot and change some of the other exercises to avoid injury but I've done it under advice. I had to stop yoga as it aggravated the PGP but I've replaced it with other exercise. Essentially the physio said if you were exercising before you shouldn't stop (as it will make things like PGP worse) but now is not the time to start either as that is just as bad.

Exercise in pg isn't for keeping trim though, it's for keeping mobile so you might want to let your DH know that yummy.

That said I find it helps with the tiredness in a bizarre way.

Also struggling with motivation at work - some of my non-motivated days are catching up with me now, got told off this morning for not chasing something up enough over the summer. Need to get my finger out for a bit I think - if I can...

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 05/10/2011 14:16

HELP! Do any of you get (or read) the FT? I need to know something about the content and the bloody thing is only available online if you pay for it and I have a meeting tomorrow when it would be reeeeeeeeall useful to know this.

Bascially I need to know if there's a 'style' or 'living' type section?

Sorry if this sounds random, but you guys are my first stop for any random query I have nowadays! Followed by the rest of MN :)

yummy I thought that Ramadan wasn't observed for menstruating/pregnant women and young people - did they not know you were pg? Or maybe the rules are different here in the UK; it's been a while since I've spoken with Muslim friends about it! Poor you!

Deesus · 05/10/2011 15:02

I'm with you ladies on the lack of motivation at work. All books I've read and my midwife said I should start 'slowing down' at work and maybe having afternoon naps. Actually laughed out loud at that one! I've got a meeting with my line manager tomorrow and i'm going to tell her i'm finding things difficult. Nothing too bad but everything seems so much effort at the moment....

Can't wait till i'm off on maternity leave....actually thinking about bringing it a week forwards just to get out of there! Still...only a couple of months to go!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 05/10/2011 15:03

yummy - try not to worry about after the pregnancy. The way I think of it is:
a) breastfeeding uses up 500 calories a day, so that's weightloss for free!
b) Having a baby is a great reason to go out for lovely long walks (once you've recovered from the birth, obviously)
c) Once the baby is here you'll have something else to think about other than food!

Hope that helps... It's the mantra I use for myself when I get worried about weight gain.

Is it vain if I change into my lightweight combats rather than my (new - yay for H&M) jeans before my appt...?

I'm getting really excited about my GP appt now - hope they're running a bit late so DH can make it. He's dying to hear the baby's heartbeat on the doppler cos he hasn;t yet...

Oh, I did hear that even inhaling the smell of food is off limits to the very devout as there are food particles in the smell. Difficult situation, but how were you to know?

No, I changed out of the new ones for the lightweight ones and then they didn;t even weigh me. Oh well.

Tip for you all - don't walk into the doorframe on the way out, especially not when the arm that makes impact is the one they just did the flu jab into. Ouch.

ParsleyLion1 · 05/10/2011 17:58

cakes I just "borrowed" somebody's FT as I'm still at work. No style or living section - there is a fashion page today but I think that is a one off article comparing the Conservative conference to the conservatism of the Chanel new collection... The only thing I'm not sure about is Saturday's FT - it's slightly different to the rest of the week and if there was a style or living section then it would be then I expect.

BigHotMama · 05/10/2011 18:05

Hi ladies sorry not been on for ages keep attempting to find time to catch up but seems to take forever then I'm too worn out up reply Blush

I have got a hectic month ahead with observations at work and lots of gigs to do at weekends but the extra money will come in handy trying to save some for when mat pay stops. Need to organise my finances as want to take at least 9 months off if poss.

I'm lacking in motivation around the house but work seems to be flying by. Need to sort spare room can't even see the carpet!

I haven't been to gym for months and am still paying membership must make an effort even if it's just for a swim.

Had our second part of 20 wk scan last week due to smurf hiding face and in awkward position so sonographer was able to get all measurements done this time and was lovely to get another glimpse.

Luckily I haven't put on any weight even though belly is quite big. I was quite big already so some of my pupils haven't even twigged yet, I obviously used to look a bit pg with my belly.

Hope app goes well cakes, can't wait for mine in 2 wks haven't heard hb yet so something to look forward to.

Glad the weather has gone cooler was sweating my tits off all last week not a nice feeling when your teaching.

Sorry for rambling, hope everyone is blooming and not having too many pg niggles x

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 05/10/2011 18:56

Lovely to see you BigHotMama - glad you're doing OK. Thanks for asking about appt - it went fine, everything was OK, but I got the flu jab today which I wasn't expecting, then managed to walk into a doorframe on the way out. Doh. Ouch.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 05/10/2011 18:59

Oh - and thankyou Parsley - that throws a spanner in the works slightly, but better to be aware! You're a star :)

Mum2be79 · 05/10/2011 19:01

Cute moment at work today.

I was sitting in the office during my lunch break with my hand on my bump. Peanut decided to show one of his/her bigger kicks which caused me to be caught off guard and shouted 'Woa!!" A little boy from Y2 came running up to the window, quite concerned and asked me if my baby was alright. I burst out laughing and told him 'Yes. Baby was doing a naughty kick'.

In fact all the kids at school have been lovely. The older ones have been offering to carry my bags in the morning when they see me cross the playground, opening doors and asking me if I'm okay. If this is what pregnancy does to kids, I'll be pregnant all year round!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 05/10/2011 19:25

OMG Mum2be - that's gorgeous :) You must work in a lovely lovely school

BigHotMama · 05/10/2011 19:34

Ahhh bless him that's so sweet mum2be. I haven't told all of my pupils yet have let it slip to a few but was hoping they might have guessed by now. Obviously I still look like I have been scoffing too many cakes.

Lol at cakes walking into door after flu jab, that sounds like something I would do.

My pg brain has just made me shout at my ds saying it's past bedtime I could swear it was quarter to 8 but actually quarter to 7 no wonder he didn't look impressed with me dh couldn't stop laughing!

ParsleyLion1 · 05/10/2011 19:40

That's lovely Mum2be :)

I've had a quite stressy day - both my boss and my boss's boss are stressy and I haven't reacted as I would normally as I'm a bit hormonal & stressy myself! Not a good mix. Had a slight run in and my left eye started twitching for about 2 hours. Anyway home now and feel a bit teary with relief tbh. OH is out tonight so I might just have a quiet self-indulgent sob in the corner!

BigHotMama · 05/10/2011 20:07

Ahhh ((big hugs)) parsley hope your ok? Have a good cry it makes you feel better afterwards. I've been really snappy over past few days and lost my temper which is so not me, so think it's def our hormones letting us know they are here. At least we have an excuse, chocolate helps too x

ParsleyLion1 · 05/10/2011 20:11

Thanks BigHot I'm fine really. Hormones are very wierd. I feel quite rational on the inside. Going to have a nice soak in the bath I think. :)

BigHotMama · 05/10/2011 20:49

Sounds like a plan Smile

So happy my dh just felt his first kick due to me having an anterior placenta wahey! Grin

Oeisha · 05/10/2011 21:37

BHM it's lovely when they feel it. DH is stlil very pleased whever he feels Abi. He's not managed to witness my belly dancing yet, but as I thought, she's hiding behind placenta (transverse) at the moment so am getting very little through the placenta.

25wk appointment went ok, though I totally forgot to ask about ante-natal classes. Back again at 28wks so hopefully it won't be too late then. MW isn't worried about my weight, so I can stop being quite so concerned. She agress with me that my wrist is probably ligaments so I've been told to take it more gently....errr...ok.

makescakes Financial Times is err...well, does what it says on the tin mostly. Investments, Markets etc. Not too disimilar in content to the "serious" stuff on reuters.co.uk (where you can access the articles Grin) from what I remember. Not sure of it's political leanings anymore. Been a while since I've had to do anything proper with them.

Ah, too bloody exhausted. Off to bed. Night night xxx

redheadbedhead · 06/10/2011 07:33

I'm glad I'm not the only hormonal one going crazy, have been so grumpy in the last week - is this happening to us all at once or am I imagining it? maybe it's normal....feels really horrid and annoying though doesn't it. I can't stop moping.. feel sorry for my husband Sad

redheadbedhead · 06/10/2011 08:09

eeek i just did some googling about a pain i've been having and it looks like rib flare! anyone else got bad rib pain when you breathe in? it's so annoying.
