How awful about whiplash - I've had it (was run off motorway by drunk driver. Everyone ok in the end but not pretty and very very scary). Could you get NHS treatment? May be worth it to stop long term stiffness...

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 29/09/2011 19:31

I was just told to alternate hot and cold compresses, make sure I had enough support when sleeping and to try and keep it moving.

My tummy hurts. Trying not to read anything into it. I'm just a fragile old worrywort today.

redheadbedhead · 29/09/2011 19:54

Hi addicted I'm here! I've been posting on and off but this thread moves so fast you must have missed me! I got a scan and it was great, we're having a little boy and the scan picture is super cute. He has a little button nose...

makes I hope your sproglet is alright, I'm sure you'll both be fine. Good luck at the docs. Try not to beat yourself up, these things happen, and most of the time it's the hormones doing weird stuff to your brain and body. You can't blame yourself.

fryn it was a while ago upthread but when we were talking about home birth I was just saying I've got an amazing book you can borrow if you want (seeing as you live round the corner!) It's Ina May Gaskin Guide to Childbirth. amazing amazing book. inspiring and educational. Let me know if you want to borrow and maybe we could meet up for a quick cuppa at the same time! Smile don't worry if you don't want to/haven't got time/can't be arsed, I wont be offended.

fishandlilacs · 29/09/2011 20:02

Good evening girls.

sheesh-this heat is doing my swede.

Ghost I was in a lovely NCT class and between the eldest of the group and my dd there is almost 7 weeks due to early babies and late babies (mine) 4-6 weeks wont matter in the long run. I am happy to say that all ten of our NCT crew are still in touch and were all on our 2nd children now and the age gaps are all over the place for that with mine being a bun in the oven, the next is 6 months old and the eldest is almost 2. It really does't matter.

My sister is a cassandra by the way-shes amazing and the name has never gone against her. She's waaay clever too, has a first degree in geology if denominative thingymaboppers is anything to go by. (you know that thing where children become thier names or certain names mean that people will turn out in a certain career/way etc) I can't remember what it's called.

cakes i'm sorry to hear of your car accident unMN hugs and Brew and Thanks and soothing lavender massages to the neck x

addicted red did get a scan in the end-I think she's team pink-she's not been about much lately though. Hope she's ok.

mia i'm sorry about your experience, but it really is your choice and don't be afraid of coming across a PITA on your notes, feck 'em theres no loyalty to them, you have a right and they have duty to deliver the very best care for you, don't be afraid to stick your neck out. My vbac clinic is 2nd Nov which I am eagerly awaiting. My gp appointment at 26 weeks my gp looked at my notes and said "why on earth have you been recommended vbac? i would have thought it was totally unsuitable given your previous experience" That almost made me cry, yet another voice to my campaign.

anyway, stay cool chicks xx

Oeisha · 29/09/2011 20:42

cakes So glad to hear LO's ok, but if at all worried, ring MW/triage again. OR at least NHS direct (who will make you ring MW). And . I nearly got shunted by a lorry on my driving lesson, who wasn't apparently expecing a learner to stop at a roundabout...thankfully it didn't happen, but it was too close (and it wasn't like I hadn't slowed in plenty of time etc, he'd just assumed I'd go...).

Just a quick stats thread link.

mia stick to your guns. If the 1st guy didn't convince you what they thought was right, it's their fault, not yours. Second consultant sounds much better.

Also struggling a bit with the heat a bit. Luckily work's always cool at my end of the store, despite ovens. I think the heat's making my crotchity and achey.

Still feel like I've swallowed a beach ball.

redheadbedhead · 29/09/2011 20:56

Oeisha · 29/09/2011 21:12

redheadbedhead · 29/09/2011 21:15

ghosteditor · 29/09/2011 21:22

Spagbolagain · 29/09/2011 21:38

Evening everyone, sorry to hear about your car bump cakes. It had 2 last year and it makes you so annoyed with yourself, but the main thing is there is no major harm done - although whiplash isn't nice.

been to PG yoga tonight. Am really enjoying it, very relaxing and the stretches feel lovely. Had my glucose test this morning, loads of waiting around. But results in a couple of days.

addictediam · 30/09/2011 07:43

Hi all - quick update: neck sore, but not too hideous, baby quiet, but moving occasionally, me, suffering from the afterffects of adrenaline and stress, DH and mum = absolutely wonderful people.

I still feel like a prat.

fishandlilacs · 30/09/2011 09:24

Doh redhead how on earth did i miss you. So sorry, I skimmed back 2 pages and saw nothing from you, sorry for getting baby flavour wrong too.

Bloody baby brain is kicking in big style. I can't think straight and last night i totally forgot about a friends pampered chef party-even though i'd remembered it in the morning. Grr.

right not hanging about on here today, I have houseowrk to do before it gets too hot. time for some banging music and some coffee. Need energy!

mummyzoe2012 · 30/09/2011 09:27

hi all, ive just been for my flu jab today. Ame is realy active all the time and loves galexey choc still!! any one else getting a line down the bump from belly buttom to bikkini line, dp is asking me all the time what it is any sugestions?

miamama09 · 30/09/2011 09:50

no linea negra yet, although definite hairy bump, and everywhere else, so gross, and had to ask DH this morning if he will shave my bikini area later! Blush

thanks for all your kind words, feeling much better about consultant situ and ELCS vs. VBAC battle with everyone having different opinions!

Last night I was at the Co-op and got into a fight with White Van Man! I purposely parked well, having seen him, allowing him enough room to get out. Then he shouted at me saying it was impossible to reverse out because of my parking, and I would have to move my car forward. I had DD in my arms at this point, was mega raging with him as there was LOADS of room, so I, cheekily, said I would reverse it out for him if he wanted as there was clearly enough room, as I went to get back in the car to move it. He didn't like this and started swearing at , jamp out of his van, so I just said 'exucse me, I've got my little girl with me, do you mind not being such a prick!?'. that shut him up. When he stormed off DD said 'naughty man gone'.

grrrr... hormones go into overdrive these days if someone pushed me too far! funny though

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 30/09/2011 09:52

Linea Nigra. Common pregnancy side effect. Google it.

I'm reading an excellent book - ghost you might enjoy it, it's based on the same principles as Ina May Gaskin's from what I understand. It's called 'The Good Birth Companion' by Nicole Croft and is an excellent guide to active birth. Am going to insist DH reads it I think.

It also explains about the primal part of the brain getting larger at this stage of pregnancy leading to so-called pregnancy brain. Actually makes me feel a bit better about my prang yesterday, although makes me very nervous about driving until my brain goes back to normal. Perhaps I just need to be more aware and do some old-lady driving (you know, 20 miles an hour with a 1/2 mile stopping distance).

DH is insisting on taking me out for a 'back on the horse' drive tomorrow I know it's the best thing to do, but I'm getting shaky thinking about it.

addictediam · 30/09/2011 09:53

I can't remember what its called but its very common. And as far as I remember no one knows why its there!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 30/09/2011 09:54

miamama - immensely impressed at your chutzpur (sp?)!

Moobee · 30/09/2011 10:12

Hello all, cakes sorry to hear about your car incident - I know they can really leave you feeling shaken. I checked with my midwife earlier this week if stress was bad for the baby and I was reassured that it was only bad for me, so that's something at least...

Miamama well done on dealing with that White van man - how awful of him to think that's an acceptable way to speak to someone with a child in their arms.

Sorry, there are loads of other things I keep wanting to reply to but this thread moves so fast! I pop in and think I'll reply when I'm on my computer (not my phone) as the reply will be longer but then when I'm on my computer I get inundated with work.

Hope you're all well xx

shonnomanom · 30/09/2011 10:19

Cakes Sorry to hear of your accident but glad you and bump arent badly hurt. Best to get bck out on the road as soon as.

Good for you miamama. White van drivers seem to think they are gods or something.

I had an message on my answer machine from the mw team yesterday. Calling to check that I was ok as they have no record of me having a 22-24wk check up and to remind me to book my 28 weeks appointment. Lovely that they would follow up but im a bit pissed that the mw I saw at 22 weeks didnt update the system. I can only presume that they dont know about my PGP if she hasnt updated the system. Got my 28wk appointment Oct 12th so will have a moan with them then.

So unbelievably tired. Had a busy week and my weekend is going to be nonstop. Got the family coming up today from Manchester for my parents 40th wedding anniversary party tommorrow. And Iv got a lot of running about tommorrow collecting cakes and balloons etc and decorating the hall.

Dp's work shifts have been changed so he is now doing 3weeks back to back nightshift instead of dayshifts which ruins all ours plans for getting things done in the house. Quite annoyed I am. There is only soo much I can do myself and our room needs gutted and I cant do that while he is sleeping in there and at night time I have just about enough energy to put dd to bed before I crash on the nearest comfortable surface.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the weather. We have sun but its not too hot which is good. Warm enough to not need a jacket but thats about it. Sunny days, Sho x
