ghosteditor · 12/09/2011 16:47

greenlady congrats on team blue!

can't help with your other query though - might be worth getting it checked out?

redheadbedhead · 12/09/2011 16:57

congrats greenlady!! great news. also can't help with other query, although all my skin has been more dry and flaky to be honest.. and my nips are quite itchy. mmmmm nice.

greenlady78 · 12/09/2011 17:06

Thanks ghost and redhead! Glad I did not freak you out with the nipple thing Grin I have an appointment next week with GP and will check it out, I'm sure it will be ok! Will let you guys know! Just looking at the picture of the baby and he looks soooo cute already, awwwwww! I was told he might be born on my birthday though! Ha, no more cakes for me ever....or always cake for me?!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 12/09/2011 17:11

Congrats to the two scan girls today and yes yes yes to the itchy boobs - I thought it was just me! Very tricky to scratch your nipple discreetly, isn't it?!

Nanny01 · 12/09/2011 18:02

greenlady78 - the nipple thing is really normal have had this each time I've been pregnant. I think basically you get rid of the the old skin and new skin replaces it. The areola the colored bit around the nipple will darken and little bumps will appear. I am sure some one with more knowledge will say what that is called. Any how the little bumps will secret little fluid to keep the skin lubricated, especially useful for breastfeeding.

Oeisha · 12/09/2011 18:12

Congrats to Fryn for team yellow and Green for team blue! Grin all so exciting.

Fish re: the wall stickers. Totally worth a look on ebay, I've just found the ones I'm going for and got 2 packs for about 2/3rds of the price of 1.
May have accidentally purchased some monkey curtain ties and some glowin the dark stars too. Went with no theme and squirkles in the end. That way I can decorate with a minagerie of animals/anime characters (love Ghibli) etc without 'ruining' the theme. Hopefully the ribboned linen won't look out of place.

green re: nips. I've got intermittently itchy ones, allover itchy. Often quite warm patches where things are expanding allover breasts too. I had 2 what looks like little spots, that fall off (well, 1 fell off)...kinda like someone's dotted me with nail varnish, but pretty much flesh coloured. They're def. attached (as I found when I scratched one off the other day and bled). I've only had 2 so far mind you, so it could just be where one of my furbabies has hooked on and left a puncture - it looks a bit like that sort of healing colour. As 'normal' nip has grown underneath it, I'm not that worried. I know skin tags are more likely to appear during pg and just put it down to that, so would be interested to hear what your doc says.

ParsleyLion1 · 12/09/2011 18:45

Congrats greenlady Grin

I've been burping acidy sick all afternoon - need to top up the gaviscon supplies I think.

knittiekitty · 12/09/2011 18:52

I've had a week of complete inertia and had to track you all down - thread 4 indeed! Congrats to the pink blue and yellow scans!

I started back at work and whilst it's better than before I'm still retching and nauseous so just resigned to it now. Lovely 'new thing' last week though when I started getting dizzy spells. I had an appt with consultant to discuss previous shoulder dystocia and choleostasis (can't spell either condition) and they said my wee was 'full of sugar'. I've cut back drastically again and the dizziness has faded. I have the glucose test on Wednesday but I'm not looking forward to leaving the house without breakfast. My lovely mw said dizziness is because I'm pregnant which made me laugh.

Dry nips here too and dh laughs at me moisturising them. I'm sure that it would have got a more interesting response from him a few months ago! I've hit 11 stone which is now just over one and a half stones gained but it's mostly bump and boobs. And bump (not named yet!) is very active, she rolls and whacks me which is lovely and reassuring. Right, best go start dinner!

BigHotMama · 12/09/2011 19:02

Woop! Had our 20 week scan today and lovely to see smurf so clearly but kept turning over and sonographer couldn't get all measurements so have got to go back in two weeks to complete measurements. I don't mind though as get to see smurf again Grin

We are team yellow and good job we didn't want to find out as smurf being awkward lol.

Also booked in to VBAC clinic as really unsure of whether an elective CS would be best for me after ds1 was 2 weeks late after failed induction. They're very pro VBAC so going to find out more on this option, anybody had a VBAC?

Congrats to fryn and green on scans!

Feel like I'm high today. My ds said he thinks it's a boy as the scan pic is showing a 'skinhead' like a boy ha!

Think we have a boys name sorted but undecided on a girls.

Not had leaky boobs yet and definitely won't be squeezing the nips to check incase it starts something off.

Love the idea of doing craft stuff but just never get the time and never tried so it would probably end up looking rough.

Wahey for redhead on getting scan and good luck for Wednesday Smile

Hope everybody is well x

Deesus · 12/09/2011 19:03

Congrats on team blue greenlady and fryn on team yellow.

red - so good to hear you've finally got a scan, hope all is well.

We're going with an 'under the sea' theme. Mainly shortly before finding out I was pg we redecorated the spare room as a guest bedroom and painted it a bluey colour (think it was called teal tension or some such shite!). Seems a bit of a faff to repaint it already Wink

Regarding names we haven't decided for definite yet but front runners are Sadie Bea or Melody Alice/Melody Niamh.

Deesus · 12/09/2011 19:04

xpost bighotmam - congrats on your scan too! I'm sooo jealous you're getting an extra one as well!

ParsleyLion1 · 12/09/2011 19:53

Congrats bighotmama Grin

I'm thinking elephants. OH is Indian and we like elephants. I might throw in some tigers as well Wink

somebody told me last week that excess acid in pregnancy means the baby is hairy!Confused

BigHotMama · 12/09/2011 19:57

Thanks deesus. I feel lucky but hope the checks will say everything is as it should be.

I really embarrassed myself today on two occasions.

  1. Forgot to wax my hairy belly and was like a blokes - felt the need to apologise to sonographer
  1. When consultant called my name in packed waiting room I was eating a plum and dropped my notes and my pee sample on the floor as I got up it fell out the polly pocket and rolled around in the middle of everybody watching glad dh had the sense to pick it up as I walked off red faced and trying to hide my god damn plum ha

Anybody having problems with their feet? My left foot hurts at inside of big toe think its to do with tendons or ligaments stretching hurts to walk in it. Remember my feet hurting last time and took ages to be able to wear my old shoes as feet hurt.

Smurf kicking like a good 'un tonight

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 12/09/2011 20:14

It feels like my stomach is doing weird sit-ups by itself, sort of tightening and releasing. I'm going to guess at Braxton Hicks, yes?

Dh is making me do my Tax return
If I didn't love him so much I'd cry, but he's doing lots of the work for me, so it'd be unfair to make him feel bad.

Oeisha · 12/09/2011 21:45

makescakes I've only had a few, and I'm not 100% sure they're BH but yeah, it could be. Mine's a definite tightening and releasing. For about 2-4mins (which is longer than most sites seem to say, but I've not often had the chance to 'do something different'). Though I've only had 2 in a row. I've found lying if I'm standing or, mostly walking about gets rid.

BHM Gtz on the team yellow.

TMI coming up...

So, having a fun night tonight. Was going ok. Ate a fairly large meal - which is unlike me - and I'm paying for it. Or I'm hoping that's all it is. Been vommiting a lot. Other ends not too great either...which is why I'm hoping it's 'only' that I've eaten too much. Really don't want to have to take any more time off work. Other thing that makes me think it's not 'eating too much' is my abdo is hurting. Proper IBS like pains, but including bump when it's bad. Sad Also, vommiting in the bog isn't easy with a pointy bump...she went mental making it all worse... Sad

fishandlilacs · 12/09/2011 21:55

cakes yup tax retrun looming here too. I just can't face it at the mo. I reckon you're bang on with the braxtons, although it seems like shrimpy sometimes just pushes his head/lims outward and keeps them there for ages.

deesus were doing under the sea too for dd's room. The nursery is blue and white, and thats how it will stay with a repaint.

bighot I am booked in for a vbac clinic sesh too, it's such a worry, i really don't want to piss about this time. I am hoping that a consultant with more sense than the last one will recommend ELCS-but if she can give me good arguments to try VBAC then I think i can give it a go-this boy has to come out somehow and I have put a lot of my fears to rest.
My feet also hurt-I think it's the increase in weight, my old nana who was a bit of a crazy hedgewitch, used to swear by mustard footbaths for pregnant ladies. I must say I gave it a try (a couple of spoonfuls of colmans mustard powder in a bowl of warm water) and it seemed to help a lot. Apparently mustard is a natural analgesic.

I have dragged all of dd's old clothes down from the attic, theres masses. I am bundling some of the best items for ebay and giving the rest away. I really hope I make some money first though.

Congrats on joining youre teams greenlady and fryn

Right then, i need to stop and chill. Good night sleep tight ladies x

shonnomanom · 12/09/2011 22:27

greenlady team blue
BHM congrats on your team yellow and getting another wee sneak peek in a few weeks
oiesha hope its not a bug or anything. Dont know about where you are but there are quite a few nasty bugs going round here just now.

Dd's room is getting a change of stickers and border. Changing from the ToysRus 'I love my bear' theme to Winnie the Pooh. Figured she still loves WTP and its cute enough for baby as well. No need to paint that room as its a nice yellow colour.

Was talking to my sister earlier about baby names and she has settled so far on 1 boy and 1 girl name for her twins. Turns out her girl name is one we have been talking about alot recently. My biggest concern with it is that Olivia has been quite popular around these parts recent.
I kinda wish we were not Team Yellow, that way we only had one name to choose. Finding it so much more harder this time to choose names.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 12/09/2011 22:43

ugh. Feel sicky and have restless legs/leg cramps, but Dh has already gone to sleep so can't ask for a rub. Bummer.

On the plus side I have a new Facebook friend :) I'm so sad.

What can I do now? Another game of spider solitaire? Oh go on then...

BigHotMama · 12/09/2011 22:53

Thanks girls!

Fish, i felt they really wanted to sell VBAC option to me so going to give the session a chance but just the thought of it going terribly wrong and ending up with emergency section scares me!

Will give the mustard a try - anything to relieve constant throbbing aches.

Haven't even given the nursery a thought on how we'll decorate it, you lot sounds very organised!

Oiesha hope your d and s clears up soon it's horrible having it at both ends!

Oeisha · 13/09/2011 09:33

Morning all!

Think it must have been something I ate. Seem fine this morning. Though am now paranoid that I'll never be able to eat anything unhealthy in any quantity ever again. Have determined to eat a higher fibre diet, so am trying to tollerate allbran with a banana and nuts and raisins right now. Thank deity for decaf tea to wash away the foul taste.

Ah crap. Later than I thought (is it possible for allbran to speed up time?!, or is it that it takes 20x longer to eat???). Off to work...ttyl.

Oeisha · 13/09/2011 09:34

Ah! Forgot. Good luck to any scanners today!

Fryn · 13/09/2011 09:37

Congratulations greenlady and bighot! bighot - I'm very jealous you get a repeat scan. Ours was really quick as G2 was having a snooze - I knew I should have had a Mars bar and jumped up and down before going in!

I'm so impressed with everyone having nursery themes - our theme is Mummy and Daddy's room, probably until we face the argument about which room to move DD1 into which is going to be enormous, so G2 can have the "nursery". Either DH loses his library (our 2nd bedroom) or we have to pay to get the attic room properly converted or we don't get the attic properly converted and risk DD falling through the floor! Sigh. Oh, I should add the attic does have windows - we're not that mean!

oiesha - eugh, that sounds nasty. Hope you're feeling better.

shonno - it is bit of a pain being team yellow! We're sorted on a girl's name, but have nothing for a boy. We don't still like the name we had for a boy if DD had been one, so it's lucky she was a girl really!

fish good luck selling the clothes - I'm sure you'll manage to get rid of some that way at least, and every little helps, eh?

miamama09 · 13/09/2011 09:59

bighotmama and fish - I have appointment with consultant at hospital tomorrow morning to discuss VBAC vs. ELCS. I am so nervous! I know they push VBAC, but I literally CANNOT even imagine risking the same thing happening again as what happened with DD. I think I will probably cry in the appointment tomorrow, just bringing it all up again. I really hope DH can come with me.

The consultant I'm seeing was actually called in to DD's birth to help, but I'm sure he'll have no recollection of it...

argh, this is almost as nerve racking as the scan appointments!

Congrats to everyone on the healthy scans btw! We are going for a nice warm blue in the nursery, but after stripping wallpaper in the room have now decided to make that the spare room and give baby the bigger room - so now I have 2 rooms to decorate from scratch! roll on maternity leave!

abeautifulbutterfly · 13/09/2011 11:16

Gosh you lot doing all this crafty/painting and decorating stuff are so brave. I hate everything to do with decorating (probably because my parents were always redecorating when I was a child, and you felt like you were living in a building site) and put it off wherever possible.
Sewing machines are another thing that they tried to teach me to tame at school but because I was learning to drive at the same time, I automatically treated the pedal like the brake pedal on the car, and every time I hesitated, stamped on it, causing complete mayhem.
Having said that we are in the throes of a rather traumatic dining-room floor replacement (having put that off for 7 years since we moved in here!) - ripped up partly rotten floorboards to find bare earth underneath (don't ask, rural Poland)!! So glad DH agreed to do all the worst of it while I was away with the DDs! So we are living in one downstairs room, half the furniture in the garage... Just couldn't be doing with a nursery thing as well.
Like Fryn, our theme will be mummy and daddy's room until what is now the office gets renovated, and then we will see... I still have all the mobiles from the DDs though so LO will not be deprived.

shonnomanom · 13/09/2011 12:36

Fryn we are the same. Dd would ahve been Harrison had she been a boy. We both have completely went off the name.
Im scowering(sp?) the credits of any tv I watch in hope of seeing some inspiration.
