fryn Good luck with scan.

redhead RESULT!!! Good luck on Wed!

butterfly Ruta/Ruth! Lovely name. I have a (mad, mad, mad) but ace Auntie called 'Ruth'! Love her to bits!

Abi (hehehe) woke me up AGAIN at 4am with her shinnanigans - been about 9 days of this now, so must just be her time to shine. Luckily DH was awake too, so he's finally got to feel her nerfing me! Grin Just feeling zombified now. Every bloody morning.

Anyway, time to stare at the swimming pool's timetable and work out where I'm going to fit in swim 2 this week, swim 1 will be today (if you're 50+ you have loads of choice, but bugger the rest of us).

shonnomanom · 12/09/2011 09:52

AG no, what I meant was that although she fell pregnant and mc very early her body reacted as if it had been a full pregnancy. Her mw told her it was common as her body knows that she had been pregnant (regardless of length) previously.
I just googled it. And apparently its linked to your hormones. Some women can leak as early as 12-14weeks Shock whereas others dont at all. Get yourself some breastpads just incase you start leaking during the day.

3 Cheers for red!!! You must be soo relieved to actaully have a date now. Roll on Wednesday!

I love Ruth as a name. But any names that have a 'th' in them are vitoed strightaway in my house as I have a slight speak impendiment when it comes to such words. Its not really air to the child if its on mother cant even say his/her name.

We are team yellow but any names we mention are male. Havent even considered a girls name yet... Plenty of time ..... Hmm

The Stats List as requested x

ghosteditor · 12/09/2011 09:53

oh giraffe, how rubbish about the food, you've really suffered! I am definitely starting to find that I can't put away my usual (giant) portion sizes, which is probably a good thing, as I'm not doing as much proper exercise as normal and it's about time my body noticed. But I don't think that's quite the same thing.

redhead - just so pleased for you! Hope the scan goes well - it's fab, I loved every minute of it!

ag actually I have somewhat leaky boobs in that I can, um, squeeze a bit and there's a bit of colostrum there. Blush. It's not spontaneous though, but then this is my first pregnancy. It may be a bit unusual but there's nothing wrong with it; it's just your body's response to the hormone changes and stands you in good stead. Don't worry!

On the naming front, we are nowhere near deciding! We were told what sex the sonographer thought she saw, but the baby had crossed legs and the cord firmly between legs, so to be honest I'm not confident. But we're keeping the rest of the world team yellow in any case Grin. We essentially have a very short shortlist for boys as there are so few names we can agree on - though if it's a boy the baby will have DH's family middle name. And there's an enormous shortlist for girls which changes constantly. Anyone using the name shortlist function on MN? I have been adding to it ever since I was on the TTC boards Grin

redheadbedhead · 12/09/2011 09:57

thanks for the stats list sho Smile and thanks for everyones support while I've been ranting incessantly about the scan!! can't believe it's happening! over the moon.

I'm scared of leaky boobs. eeeeeeek!

Oeisha · 12/09/2011 10:05

giraffe (((HUGS))). At least I've just 'gone off' food (since about 12wks). Still getting the occasional bout of puking MS but nothing regular. Just don't want to eat. Am eating, as much as I can healthily, but have no desire to at all - very, very unlike me. Put it down to the grinding of MS to begin with, but that's eased so much now it can't be that. Grazing on fruit in the evenings (my teeth must be loving it), and am still managing okish meal sizes, but am still losing weight (taking into account Abi must be gaining from the protrusion size). Tried eating less healthy things and they just make me feel GRIM. Anyway, I'm sure MW will bash me if I need it at 25wks.

Gargh. Now being nagged by my furbaies, again! They don't want to go out and the wind is freaking them out, but seem to be planting the blame in it thoroughy on me. I keep telling them "Yes, I'm awsome, but not that awsome"... Think I may have to stick on their cat-doper...

GiraffeAHolic · 12/09/2011 11:14

God it must sound like I'm always moaning, can I just clarify that I love being pregnant (despite it not liking me much!)

I can't believe how organised you all are with names, I think we are almost in agreement on one boys name and one girls name but no where near clarified enough to divulge.

My EBay bargains arrived this morning, all looks good and nice to try wearing stuff that I wouldn't necessarily pick myself.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 12/09/2011 11:35

I know it sounds nuts, but I'm kind of jealous of the leaky boobs - I am so looking forward to breastfeeding that I'd kind of like some evidence everything is working up there! Loopy, I know

Right - work's done for the day, ironing and laundry and washing up done for the day - time for fun craft projects! Yay. What first? Patchwork advent calendar for my mum or bumper for baby's cradle or designs for birth announcement?

ag123 · 12/09/2011 11:43

Ok,thanks and congrats to redhead!
And thank you for deciphering my awful typing on this stupid phone!

ParsleyLion1 · 12/09/2011 11:46

giraffe that's really pants at this stage. Hope it's just a temporary food set back Sad

oeisha my panther went out briefly this morning but since then has settled at the top of the stairs out of the wind which always freaks him out. Mind you that seems to have been his routine the whole time the builders have been here as he likes to keep out of their way Smile

makescakes ahhh. Homemade cot bumper. Like that idea - right up my street. Smile

red hooray Grin fab news finally. Fx for Wednesday.

fryn good luck today Smile

Fryn · 12/09/2011 12:06

hello everyone!

Well, scan was all good and we've stuck to team yellow (DD seems to think I have 2 babies called Oliver and Thomas in there, so she'll be disappointed whatever!). G2 seemed practically comatose though, but we did get a wave and he/she touched his nose too and had a stretch. I'm trying not to read too much into the fact that the sonographer said "he" at one point!

red - oh hurrah! I've only just caught up from Friday, and at one point I thought that you might have been in the waiting room this morning, and I might have ignored you! Phew! Anyway, they seem fine about letting you know the gender - she sounded quite surprised when we said we didn't want to know. It's £4 per scan pic though, and ours aren't particularly good, I have to say, but they do like exact change!

makescakes - I was the same last time - I wanted proof that there was something in there to leak! Never happened, and I still breastfed for 8 months, so don't worry!

ag123 - congratulations on your wedding etc!

oiesha - aw, Abi's a lovely name! As for swimming they should give equal rights to pregnant ladies and the over 50s! If my current swimming technique is anything to go by, I'm far slower than the older folk anyway.

butterfly - another lovely name! Tricky on the Barbara bit though - may not be worth the family resentment from your mum.

giraffe - you poor think. Hope you can eat properly again soon. I fear I'm eating your share at the moment.

I'm I've missed loads - hope you're all well!

What news from my fellow scanners of the day?!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 12/09/2011 12:07

Gah. No idea what to put on the cot bumpers.

Sky montage like we're putting on the mobile (hot aire balloon, sun, clouds, plane etc) or little birds? Or boats on the sea? Or animals?
I think I'd better tip out my fabric stash and see what I have in my collection at the moment.

Fryn · 12/09/2011 12:07

I knew I'd missed something - parsley weirdly I've been fine on the tube. I think 9 times out of 10 I get given a seat. I think Victoria line users are just more polite than others! That or I have a very good evil stare...

ParsleyLion1 · 12/09/2011 12:26

Ha ha. Tbh my train is overland and people are VERY protective of their seats! I have only travelled on the tube when it's been absolutely rammed and no chance of even sticking out my bump to an appropriate seat user. Then I just tuck myself into a corner to avoid bishings. Then again, it's been the Northern Line which is nowhere near as refined as the Vic line Smile

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 12/09/2011 12:33

Bah. All I can find that would make a suitable backing is white with pale blue stripes (like mattress ticking almost). But wtf can I applique onto it??
I'm getting brain ache.

Maybe birds would be the best option...

ghosteditor · 12/09/2011 13:15

cakes that sounds fun! I was thinking about cot bumpers too but think I may have to work my way up to that level of craftyness Grin. So far with my new sewing machine I've done a few 'nursery cubes', some clothing alterations, and a door-stop chicken. Next on the list is a new dreamgenii pillow case and some sheets for the crib (not spending £25 on the fitted Stokke sheets thank you very much!)

Hot air balloons sound lovely - in fact we bought this poster for the baby's room a few weeks ago. Love balloons, love Babar, and like the sky theme as DH is a pilot...

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 12/09/2011 13:44

my Dh is a pilot too - are you sure we're two different people?
We have planes all over the house whether I want them or not! :-)

ghosteditor · 12/09/2011 13:45

you're kidding! No way! That's actually a little bit freaky Grin

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 12/09/2011 13:48

Fryn - Victoria was the line where I got barged and ignored the worst. The seat I got offered was on the overland.

Fryn · 12/09/2011 14:21

cakes - I apologise for my people! Maybe it depends on the time you travel. Although notably it's never men in suits who stand up in rush hour, it's always women, or, bizarrely, teenage boys. First time that happened I thought I was going to get mugged!

ParsleyLion1 · 12/09/2011 14:36

Congrats on the scan fryn Grin

makescakes boats or birds with that background. Depends what scraps you have - though balloons would also work very well.

redheadbedhead · 12/09/2011 15:16

congrats Fryn glad it all went well and thanks for the info Smile

ghost and cakes I am totally impressed by your crafting skills. And Envy

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 12/09/2011 15:26

Don't be - I've run into a brick wall energyand motivation wise. Am sat on the sofa thinking "there's stuff I should be doing, but bleurgh"

shonnomanom · 12/09/2011 16:04

Wow I wish I still had the brain power to be that creative. I'm lucky if I cook the dinner right these days.
Congrats on a positive team yellow scan. And good luck to all of this weeks scanners.

The weather here today is horrible. The news reported winds of 80mph. That with very heavy rain its not a pretty day.

OP posts:
greenlady78 · 12/09/2011 16:39

Tra la la la, I'm so pleased with the scan today, was so nice to see the little one's feet, let (it looked huge and it sort of freaked me out!) Grin And we couldn't resist it and asked and we are team blue! Wink

So pleased for red that finally got a date for your scan, great news!

fryn congrats on team yellow, all that really matters is to know they are well, isn't it? I almost didn't ask, but could not resist!

giraffe hope your appetite comes back soon!!!

On the breast front I have a question: anyone else having sort of skin sort of peeling off it? Actually, almost like a mini round bit gets peeled off the nipple and then ends up coming off? Hope I explained that ok...once the little circle comes off there it gets healed almost straight away, no idea what that is, thought I would share (and freak everyone out!) Wink

Hugs all around! xxxx
