I felt like such a lazy cow wanting a seat, but it was less about getting the weight off my feet and more about the fact that it's really hard to stand up on a swaying train when your centre of gravity has drastically changed and you're about 10lbs heavier than usual.

I went on the Wii fit this morning and I haven;t been on it for months, probably since last winter. Apparently I've only put on 7lbs since then, but I suspect that I lost quite a bit before I got pregnant so not sure of my overall gain, but that's the first time I've dared to weigh myself since I got pregnant and I think it's really positive and reflects how good I feel about myself since I started showing. I love my bump and am much happier about my body and I'm making positive choices about it. Now I just need to find an ante natal class as one of the women I contacted only does one to one classes and I can;t afford £35 an hour! Hell, that's 3 times what I earn! I'm in the wrong job.

redheadbedhead · 11/09/2011 16:41

oh my goodness cakes don't feel guilty!! pregnant women are definitely allowed to sit down!

Oeisha · 11/09/2011 17:21

ag123 Congratulations on the wedding! Can't say I've had leaky boobs yet, boobs are staying fairly calm at the moment...

cakes At least you weren't out-hexed by a perfectly fit and able older woman with no bags, who could have just sat in the seat behind me...I was the other day...

As I thought, today wasn't as smooth as it could have been. Not impressed...but hey-ho! I'm home. Wasn't going to have a nap before dinner, but I might now. Busy week next week, so should get the kipping in whilst I can!

Mum2be79 · 11/09/2011 19:01

ag123 Congratulations on the wedding. My anniversary is 13th August - though we married last year ... on the Friday!!

Sorry to hear about all the sad tales. The cat story especially got to me. We have a ginger 'Rascal' (that is his name!) and he has a little mate (had!) called Mickey. Mickey was our 'part-timer' - always at our house, lying on the bed, eating the cat's dinner etc, etc. His owner looks after our cat and hens when we go away. Sadly 2 days into our two week holiday on 16th August, Mickey got squashed in the lane. The owner (our neighbour) was completely devastated I think made worse by having to feed our cat for the next two weeks! Rascal was a bit lost. He camped out at another neighbours and then wouldn't leave our side for four days expect to bring us presents of mice and rabbits!?!

Just been to the parents this weekend in Newcastle. Asda have a baby event on and my mum works there too so she got me all the goodies with a 10% discount - 297 nappies, a Johnson's Baby goody box, a toy, wipes etc, etc and our moses basket.

I'm 24 weeks today. Some magazines/books/websites says this is the beginning of the 3rd trimester. Some say 27 weeks and some say 28 weeks. Which is it? Either way, it's a 'milestone'. Baby is now deemed 'viable' 9a term my mum hates) but it's a little step closer to holding him/her. The little tike has been very active the last two days which is just as well as the previous three days were probably a shock to the system - 25 rowdy 5-year-olds!!!

fishandlilacs · 11/09/2011 19:02

Welcome back ag123 congrats on the wedding-I hope you had a truly splendid time.

cake Envy at your movie montage moment with your dh and getting the crib set up, my DH wont even entertain anything like that yet. It is early but I just want it all done. Cripes, I don't even know where the cot bolts are! DD's nursery first time round was done in June and she arrived in late august, so 8 weeks before is my cut off date. I may have to be flexible on that.

Today I went to our big carboot sale and picked up some bargainous curtains for dd's new room, they are just nuetral sandy coloured with squares on so will fit in with her seaside themed room she wants, they are made to measure dunelm jobbies with lining and curtain tape. I know from buying curtains for our previous home they were probably well over £100 new, I got them for the snippet price of £10 for the pair. They look lovely up and fit really nicely. I feel at least I have made a start in there.

fishandlilacs · 11/09/2011 19:19

Oh I meant to say about leaky boobs, since my weird milk related dream the other night I have had a fizzy slightly burning sensation in my nipples. DH thinks the two things are related.
I haven't had leaky boobs yet, I didn't the first time round at all-in fact my milk took 6 days to arrive. Bloody c sections delay it apparently, but I did get the feeling of let down quite a bit when I was around my freinds newborn daugter. There's 10 weeks between her and my dd so I must have been at least 7-8 months pregnant.

mummyzoe2012 · 11/09/2011 20:00

we have decided to call baby girl Ame sofie.. anyone else thought of names yet.

is anyone else struggling to find the basic rattles im realy struggling ive bought all the ones i can see in the shops but ther is not many

Oeisha · 11/09/2011 20:31

mummyzoe Ame, lovely name

Yolkis' RL name is Abigail Susan May (Abi). Was important to DH that we named her, so we did. Wanna bets she's gonna be a boy in the end...

Irritating thing is I don't want to have to buy new bed linen for the nursery room, as I want the room to be as flexible as possible. Currently linens is kinda duck egg blue and grey. Also thinking about a seaside theme, as it's not overtly boyish...partly as I saw this adorable rattle in LJ on Sat. Wish I'd got one now. Anyway, I figured this theme was versatile enough for adults too. I dislike going to my brother's gaff and being reminded that we're kicking out baby whenever we stay over.

Just got to find some kind of stensils/whatevers that I can stick on the bits of wall that will show...

fishandlilacs · 11/09/2011 20:36

Oiesha, were doing a seaside room for dd and I have just been scrolling through google for that very thing-seaside wall decals. I love these fish

fishandlilacs · 11/09/2011 20:44

Our boy is to be called Jago James Nicholas btw.

shonnomanom · 11/09/2011 21:12

Thank you Ladies, Deesus I love your thinking! Grin I did wear a very bumpalicious top to ensure I looked very pregnant.
Got the phone sorted out no problems at all. The lady serving me was lucky she was behind a counter or she was getting hugged! She said the guy on the phone didnt know what he was talking about. The lovely woman even highlighted that contract wherever it said the magic word 'upgrade' just to make me feel more at ease. So glad to have it all sorted out now [phew]

AG congrats on your wedding. Excuse my memory but this isnt your first pregnancy is it? Apparently in 2nd + pregnancies you can start leaking as early as now. Im paranoid about it since my sis inlaw told me about her leaking at 26weeks. She had a mc VERY early on but yet her body still reacted the same.

Cakes Lovely post about your cot/hubby movie moment. Shame your weekend was dampened by ignorance on the public transport.

Nanny I like both names, my friend is due to have her Ethan this week. Elliot makes me think of ET and Scrubs. All in a good way though.
Funny you should say about family reactions to names. My sis inlaw+bro called their PFB Maria Shannon. The Shannon is not a family name but is a name both have liked for a very long time, coincidently its a good friends name as well. Anyways, one her brothers told her that he didnt agree with their name choice and was glad that they gave Maria as the first name and not Shannon because he didnt know what he would call her then. No explanation at all. How rude.

mummyzoe lovely name. Do you mean old fashioned style rattles like when we were kids? I tried to get one like that for Dd and couldnt get it anywhere, apart from the likes of ornament ones.

We have planned what has to happen and where things are to go but we need to do a lot in the bedrooms before we can get the cot. We have a HUGE family party next month and have family coming from all over to stay on couches, floors and share beds. So we have decided to wait until after the party to purchase our cot and start actually getting things in place. So much to do in so little time eek!

Hope everyone is well and healthy, sorry for the long post. Sho x

shonnomanom · 11/09/2011 21:17

Oh cross post, sorry , lovely names ladies. We havent even started properly thinking of names yet

OP posts:
mummyzoe2012 · 11/09/2011 22:52

yeah im wanting simple rattles not all the ones that take batterys, managed to find some on very a while ago a 10 pack for £10 but want more than just 10 for ame ive got loads of teathers.

since my post ive found that online toys r us and mother care sell non battery opperated rattles..

ive got loaads of battery opp ones and just want normal ones for her lol.

loving the names also.

My dp was the same when we found out we were like what should we call her and we decided on the spellings yesterday.

ParsleyLion1 · 12/09/2011 07:19

Morning Ladies :)

Liking all the names - we're nowhere near that. I have a few favourites but can't get OH to take it seriously yet. I also keep thinking I ought to prepare at least one boy's name just in case.

ag123 · 12/09/2011 08:05

Thanks for the congrats everyone
Hmm,now I'm starting to get slightly concerned...maybe that shouldn't be happening yet...it is my first pregnancy actually.I mean it's only a 10p size crusty spot on my pj top when I wake u from lying on ny size and squeezing my boob, but maybe this is something I should mention to the doctors at my appt on weds. And Sho,did you mean it was related to the mg?

ParsleyLion1 · 12/09/2011 08:33

ag123 I had that happen a few years ago when I was on the pill and not even pregnant. If you keep squeezing it makes it do it more - I got very paranoid about it at the time but once I stopped squeezing it dried up. I'm sure its nothing to worry about but if it plays on your mind it won't hurt to ring the MW.

redheadbedhead · 12/09/2011 08:47

I don't think Sho meant that maybe? I thought she meant despite having had a mc she still produced milk. Anyway might be wrong.

Guess what everyone.......

I GOT A SCAN!!!!!! YAY!!!!! My OH rang up this morning and got cross on the phone and then they gave us a scan on Wednesday!!! why did it take so long to get it?? madness. Anyway I don't care. 12pm on Wednesday I get to find out what it is...hopefully. Fryn do you know what our hospital policy is on letting you know the gender? Could you let me know if possible after yours? and GOOD LUCK for yours today!!!! exciting!

Anyway I'm very happy. Grin

abeautifulbutterfly · 12/09/2011 08:58

Hey redHead - result! Fingers crossed! And for you Fryn today.

Some lovely names coming up. Nanny FWIW I prefer Elliott - I knew a slightly crazy but very very clever Elliott (can't remember how he spelled it) at school, always smiling and mega-brainy.

We are having Ruth (she will formally be Ruta as that's the Polish version), just got to think of a middle name. DD1 has MIL's name as a middle, DD2 has my Mum's maiden name (as not even my Mum likes her own given names!), but now we've run out of Grandmas. I have a kind of second Mum here in Poland who is Barbara and I would love to call her Ruta Barbara, but my Mum is a little over-sensitive and I'm not sure if it wouldn't upset her...

This time round I am pre-empting people's rudeness about names by saying, when they ask if I'm having a boy or a girl, "It's Ruth" - then they would have to be really rude to comment any way except positively - and they've got 4 months to get used to it. Only 1 person has been disparaging so far but she's a very close friend and always says exactly what she thinks and I say it back to her so I don't care.

Good week, everyone!

redheadbedhead · 12/09/2011 09:18

thanks butterfly! I think Ruta Barbara is an absolutely lovely name. but if your mum is anything like mine, that would be a major bone of contention for EVER. Maybe it's not worth it?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 12/09/2011 09:25

I love my baby's name, wish I could tell you all, but I have to keep it secret till January
It's lovely though :)

fishandlilacs · 12/09/2011 09:29

Wooo redhead thats superb-finally. Hope it goes well and you get to wave at your baba.

Right then, my dd has just started school, only mornings this week and I am determined not to squander this time on MN. So I am going to shut down the pc and not allow myself anywhere near it until in have done something worthwhile with my time.

GiraffeAHolic · 12/09/2011 09:31

Hi everyone, thanks so much for all the support. Haven't told people IRL so was good to type it all down.

Anyway, yay for you redhead about time too.

Congrats to the latest blue and pink recruits.

I finished CheesyMonster-RainDrop's hat yesterday, really chuffed it actually came out really well Smile

Has anyone's appetite plundered again? I'm struggling to keep anything down again, even things I thought were fairly safe (I mean, how much blander can you get than a salad sandwich?)

And I eat the smallest amount of food and am uncomfortably stuffed until I vomit again Sad

Got midwife appointment on Thursday, really hoping to hear the heartbeat for the first time.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 12/09/2011 09:35

Ooh - congrats to red - didn;t see that before!

redheadbedhead · 12/09/2011 09:36

oh giraffe what an arse about the food thing again Sad How rubbish for you.

makescakes I can't wait to see what everyone's babies are called and how everyones doing in January, it's going to be so exciting!!!

can anyone post a link to the stats thread? I want to put my scan date on there and update the colour when I know Grin
