I only did it a test this morning and have not even told my husband yet!

Mythical - I don't think I've ever had cravings but I do drink more milk when pregnant... boring I know!

chipo · 28/10/2011 16:29

Bad news for me too, baby didn't grow past 9 weeks. So good luck to everyone else.

Marmite123 · 28/10/2011 16:42

Sorry to hear of some losses. I've been there and my thoughts are with you.

Just had my 12w scan today, everything looked great and the measurements were spot on for 10 May so no change at all. NT measurement and markers all great, they turned the blood tests round in 45mins and despite being 36 my combined down syndrome screening risk was just 1 in 3499 so all really reassuring. So excited I dashed into work with my photos and told loads of people. It's even gone out on a staff e-newsletter so I'm well and truly gone public!

Food wise, no great cravings but I'm really liking salt & vinegar crisps and pickled onion monster munch and I've gone right off curry and all spicy sauce covered food. Mostly sticking to simple stuff, pasta, soup and sandwiches and trying to eat more beef for the iron as I've felt a bit light headed at times.

I think my bloating has gone down a bit as the trousers don't seem so tight as they did a few weeks ago.

Marmite123 · 28/10/2011 16:48

So sorry to hear that Chipo Hugs

dreamingofanallotment · 28/10/2011 17:49

Really sorry chipo. Hope you've got lots of support around you. All the best for the future.

Dorris83 · 28/10/2011 17:53

chipo I'm so sorry, take care of yourself .

cairnterrier · 28/10/2011 18:17

chipo I'm really sorry to hear your news x

Little9 · 28/10/2011 18:59

Had scan today. Unfortunately, I miscarried quite early on. Oh well, just not meant to be. Good luck, ladies. Hope all goes well for the rest of you, x

musicalmrs · 28/10/2011 19:07

So sorry both chipo and Little, such sad news. Hope you're both doing as ok as possible, and that you're both being looked after.

So much sadness on this thread. Really making me begin to worry about my own scan. Midwife tomorrow though, who I hope will reassure me somewhat.

I'm not sure whether I'm having any cravings. I've always had 'cravings' or 'yearnings' for orange juice - think it's just my body wanting more vit C- had that long before pregnant though. After getting home from teaching, though, I find myself really hankering after a crumpet with salty cheese spread - not sure if that's just habit or a craving.

SESthebrave · 28/10/2011 19:56

Checking in after a long week and so sorry to see more sad news on here. Chipo, Little9, Quenelle and Lindor - my thoughts are with you.

I also had bad news from one of my team at work on Monday who phoned me to say she had gone into premature labour at 22 weeks over the weekend. Her little boy lived less than an hour :(

On a more positive note, I had my second early scan at 9+2 on Tuesday and all was well. Told our parents and siblings and they are all really pleased.

Yesterday though I had a nightmare. I decided to treat myself to an omelette at lunchtime and by the time I got home it was obvious that my stomach did not like it and I spent the evening and a lot of last night feeling awful with my body getting rid of what it didn't want at both ends (sorry if TMI!) I'm really worried now that it will have damaged the baby in some way but will have to wait for my 12 week scan for reassurance.

Anyway - hello to everyone else. This has been a really chatty thread the last few days and I'm not sure I can keep up!

Catsycat · 28/10/2011 21:26

Chipo and Little9, I'm so sorry for your news. Do take care.

lalabaloo and marmite, congratulations on your scans (and anyone ese I have accidentaly missed out).

Harecare I really want another girl - one of my friends has 3 girls, and they are so lovely together. DH hasn't expressed a preference. I do feel a bit awful for wanting a girl so much, as after the mc, I should just be grateful for a baby. I will find out the sex if possible, as I think it helped DD1 last time to visualise the baby and prepare herself. Also, it will give me chance to reconcile myself if it is a boy - I know I will love it whatever it is, though.

I'm going off to eat a pie now - it has been cooking with the kitchen door open to air out the smells into the worcestershire countryside, and away from my nauseous tummy!

Catsycat · 28/10/2011 21:30

Ooh, and SES, very pleased to hear your second scan went well. I hope you are feeling better after the omlette, though!

Harecare · 28/10/2011 22:54

So sorry little9 and chipo look after yourselves.

catsycat I will be happy no matter what, but I can't decide if finding out early is a good idea or not. I was disappointed DD2 was a girl, purely because I was positive she was a boy, but it only lasted a day as I had a lovely baby to take away that feeling. If I find out at the 20 week scan I'm worried I'll have 20 weeks of feeling a bit disappointed with only a fat tummy and tiredness to take away the feeling.

Anyway, we're still not officially telling anyone which is sooooo infuriating. I wish DP would just tell his family so I could let everyone know why I'm so tired and fat.

musicalmrs · 29/10/2011 09:02

Catsy and Harecare, I'm not sure about finding out the gender. My DH really wants to, but I'm not 100% convinced. Maybe if he thinks it'll help him bond more we'll have to do it, as I know it's so much harder for the men!

Must be tricky not telling people Harecare! We have told people over the last two weeks, but only because we've already had early scans, and everything's looking ok. That said, I'm now worried about the upcoming scan, just in case things aren't - but that's natural I suppose.

Excitement of last night/today is that I finally felt where my uterus is! Hurrah! Quite low - so proof that the majority of my bump is bloating (or shifting organs!), but it's pushed out to the front already :) That's my bit of geeky excitement over for the day...

Yorky · 29/10/2011 09:03

Catsy - I'm also guilty of wanting another pink one here Blush feel guilty for minding what colour it is - I never have before butt his will be our last and we're looking at house extensions and it'll be so much easier to have 2rooms for 2 kids each than fit 3 in one room! Terrible reason.
I think its a boy though as with DD I was convinced she was a girl but with 2 DSs didn't have any strong feelings one way or tother.
Suspect we will find out at the scan this time - a 1st for us, but gives me time to get my head around whichever. Glad to say I actually seem to be minding less since I found out I was pg, sure it won't matter when he arrives :)

dreamingofanallotment · 29/10/2011 10:38

catsy worcestershire?! Me too!

That must be so hard not to tell people harecare. I think I'd be exploding if I hadn't been able to tell a few people by now. When will you spill the beans?

We're not going to find out whether we're having a blue or pink baby - its our first so a surprise will be nice! DH is convinced it's a boy though, but I suppose he's got a 50/50 chance of being right!

mythical · 29/10/2011 14:12

Well, it must be a craving, i've had 1 pot of taramasalata with bread so far whilst everyone in the house is looking at me like "how the hell can you eat that stuff"

chocolatesparkle · 29/10/2011 15:15

Sorry to hear so many peoples sad news at scans, I know how it feels to miscarry and wish you all the best.

We went for our 12 week scan yesterday and I'm so happy to say that this time we have a 'viable' little wriggler. Just so relieved that this time it is good news. Parents already knew we were pregnant, but told my brother yesterday who was absolutely thrilled that he's going to be an uncle.

Since the scan my tummy seems to have suddenly ballooned, I'm back at work tomorrow and am worried that i won't get in to work clothes! I was hoping not to tell people until around 15 weeks, but looking at my belly I think I'll have to come clean next week.

Cravings wise, I wouldn't say i have cravings, i just don't really like any spicy food or main meals. All i like is white toast with butter +/- marmite. I've had to get up a few times in the night to fufill my toast fix if i haven't eaten enough dinner the night before.

Just a silly question: Do you think that it's OK to sleep on your front at 12 weeks? I stopped in early pregnancy because it made me feel more sick, but now i find it the most comfortable position, but don't want to squash baby.

mythical · 29/10/2011 15:23

chocolatesparkle i'm 12+4 and still sort of sleeping on my front. i have a full size body pillow and i kind of snuggle into it so my whole body isn't on the bump, i'm hoping this would work long term because it's the only way i can get comfortable at the moment apart from sleeping on my front.

www.necksolutions.com/images/body-pillow-jpg.jpg
something like this

musicalmrs · 29/10/2011 15:31

chocolatesparkle, I used to always sleep on my front, but had to stop very early on due to my stomach being too tender (one of the first symptoms I had!). I've found the best way to sleep is like mythical suggests - only I've been doing it with a normal pillow, which has been fine. I didn't want to splash out on a full body pillow in case it didn't work for me. However, after adopting the spare pillow into the bed a couple of weeks ago, I had the three best nights of sleep I've had in ages! Sadly it hasn't lasted...

Yorky · 29/10/2011 15:40

Has anyone else noticed how close we are to filling our first thread?

chocolatesparkle · 29/10/2011 15:48

Yay, new thread, just in time for our second trimesters. Now someone just needs to think of a witty title...!

cairnterrier · 29/10/2011 16:29

Count me out on the thread titles, witty I am not.

Again, am so sorry to hear of those whose scans have not had the results that they would have wished :(

Am counting the days down until Friday and my scan now. I'm due 14th May so just about mid-month and just about everyone else seems to have already had theirs!

PS has everyone started doing their pelvic floor exercises?!

musicalmrs · 29/10/2011 16:48

Cainterrier - Also due mid-May - 15th - and scan not until the 7th! Also feeling like everyone else has already had their scan :P Mine will be at 12w+6. Looking forward to it though...!

Will have a think on the witty title front!

Pelvic floor exercises - check! Midwife visited earlier so I now have a huge amount of literature to read through, which I'm rather looking forward to to be honest! Have also got my next midwife appointment booked, which may clash with work (depending on how quickly I get seen) - meaning I have to tell that employer I'm pregnant. I have three employers, I've told two... and this is the one I've not told typically. Ah well!

dreamingofanallotment · 29/10/2011 20:39

My midwife said to me 'you MUST do your pelvic floor exercises' and scolded me when I said I hadn't really been doing them up until my booking in appointment (at 8 weeks!). So I've been doing them since then, don't want her telling me off! In the Boots parenting magazine I was sent the other day, it suggested doing pelvic exercises by imagining you were going up floors in a lift - so you lift to the first floor, then the 2nd, then the 3rd, hold for 10 (or 5, I can't remember) and let go. If that makes sense...

chocolatesparkle I've been having the same thoughts as you re. lying on your front, although when I go to bed I don't tend to as I'm so bloated and my boobs hurt if they're squished!
Have just looked up these full body pillows and the dream genii - they look amazing! Might just make do with using a pillow between my knees for now as I mostly sleep on my side anyway.

Has anyone else found their tastebuds have changed? A few weeks back I couldn't get enough of dairylea dunkers Blush (bad I know!) but I tried to eat one today...bleurgh! Tasted yuk! Here's hoping I don't go off toast/spaghetti hoops/honey/marmite...otherwise I'll have nothing left to eat!
