I only did it a test this morning and have not even told my husband yet!

Ah yes...good old indigestion! I had terrible heartburn last time that radiated all the way up my throat; I used to sit with a mini bottle of gaviscon on my desk at work for when it flared up Grin you can get gaviscon on prescription too don't forget so don't fork out loads for it.

Also meant to say yesterday to those worrying about having told family already in case anything goes wrong. You will want them for support anyway IF anything goes wrong (which it won't...!)
When we mc'd we hadn't told any family about the pregnancy and it was horrible ringing them to say 'I was pregnant...now I'm not.' so when I was pregnant with ds we told them straight away as we wanted it to be good news first :) hope that helps but honestly have faith in your babies, all will be fine.

failsafe I'm not a first-timer but am definitely showing!! My mum even said I had a belly now...thanks!! I'm glad I'm 'public' now so people don't think I'm just getting fat!! But people all start showing at different times so I wouldn't worry about your size.

Yorky · 27/10/2011 13:33

Wow, chatty on here today :)
Fingers crossed for you Chipo
Thanks for the marmite suggestion LittleSarah, just hit the spot!

I am being a crap mum today, sitting here thinking AIBU for wndering how early DH might be able to finish so I can go back to bed :(

Catsycat · 27/10/2011 13:53

Hoping everything turns out OK for you Chipo. Sometimes bleeding can just happen for no apparent reason. Keeping everything crossed.

Yorky YANBU - I'm gutted DH won't be back till after the DDs are in bed!!!!

Gaviscon is definitely easier to take than Rennies IMO Dorris - I still have my huge (free!) pint bottle from my last pg, ready for use this time....

Can't decide if I'm showing yet or not - this is number 3 for me, weight has always been a bit of an issue, and with that and 2 CS, my belly is a mess anyway!!!!

mythical · 27/10/2011 15:15

Hm, i think i wrote a whole post then forgot about it and closed the page .. doh

in regards to showing or not, i have a bigger belly than before i found out but i've also lost 5 lbs i can feel something but not sure what yet! I think if i was slimmer i would show but i'm a size 18 there is no chance for me yet.

I've also got the nastiest cold. i felt really faint today at work and it was scary (i suffer from heart palpitations anyway) so all combined was just awful. Everyone was running away from me - i can understand that, i would too! but still if i feel the same tomorrow (i have a high temperature now) i shall probably stay home.

Yorky · 27/10/2011 15:39

Catsy - if this wasn't MN, I would [heart] you!
Hehe Mythical - baby brain strikes!

Who was complaining about their belly being a mess? A friend posted a great quote on fb about stretchmarks - your body isn't ruined, you're a tiger who has earned her stripes Grin

Failsafe · 27/10/2011 15:53

yorky It wasn't me but shall try and remember the "tiger who has earned her stripes" mantra.

Im glad im not the only one with a bit of a bump cupcake, you never know, I could be having twins! Shock

LittleSarah · 27/10/2011 16:53

Chipo - Good luck for tomorrow, I hope everything is fine, keeping everything crossed!

Harecare · 27/10/2011 17:44

Hello all. Can I ask if anyone hasn't felt ill and now does? I've not really had nausea which I know is really lucky, but I'm 13 weeks now and feeling tired and sick come 5pm and don't fancy food. I think I may try to eat a big meal at lunch and snack at tea time. I'm hungry now but can't face the lovely roast chicken I made for everyone else. I could eat the choc mousse pudding though!

musicalmrs · 27/10/2011 18:34

It's my first, and I've definitely got a bit of a bump. In the evenings, there's definitely bloating contributing to it. In the morning it's clearly there as well though; I don't think it's actual baby yet, but just my body shifting things around? Not sure. Midwife's coming on Sat so I will ask her! :) When I weighed myself a few days ago I hadn't yet put any weight on, although it could be different now...

Harecare, I'm feeling more ill now than I have over the last few weeks (currently 11w+2), and was the closest to throwing up yesterday than I have been yet. I've been struggling to eat more too (and have been wanting sweet foods more than savoury!).

Chipo, hope tomorrow goes well. Will be thinking of you! I had a lot of bleeding early on in pregnancy, but everything turned out ok - so it can all work out alright.

Just ordered some maternity trousers and belly bands, finally!

dreamingofanallotment · 27/10/2011 18:53

I've got a bump too musicalmrs which definitely gets bigger over the day - I look massive now! (I'm sure mine is mostly bloating too!) I'm a bit of a skinny mini so that probably makes it more obvious. had to do my jeans up with a hairband today! I'm really intrigued as to whether I've put weight on - I don't own any scales though, so I might have to get some!

Harecare my nausea has definitely changed over the the past few weeks - from about 6 weeks I had all day nausea, but I now find I'm really bad in the mornings but after about 2pm I'm much better as long as I keep eating. I'm sure it's just hormones affecting people differently.

Hope tomorrow goes well Chipo

Sounds like a good plan to stay home tomorrow mythical.

Dorris83 · 27/10/2011 18:56

chipo I'm sorry I didn't see your post earlier , good luck tomorrow, thinking of you

dreamingofanallotment · 27/10/2011 19:28

By the way ladies, have you seen that there are now June AND July baby threads! That made me very excited when I noticed it!

Catsycat · 27/10/2011 19:37

Lol Yorky at the tiger thing - I think I'm a kangaroo who has earned her pouch!

mythical, hope you feel better soon - I had a cold a couple of weeks ago, and it's so much harder when you can't take much for it, makes you really appreciate decongestants!

cairnterrier · 27/10/2011 20:39

Hi Everyone

Yes I was very lucky to hear the heartbeat although given the angle the mw was holding the probe at, think this LO is growing in my bladder [hhmm]

Am v jealous of all those w little bumps. My tummy is huuuuge. I've been in matty jeans since 8 weeks and I've already put on half a stone. I'm starting to wonder if my dates are right........

Anyway, hope all goes well and thinking of you chipo and your scan tomorrow.

chipo · 27/10/2011 20:43

Thanks all for the well wishes. The bleeding has stopped so feeling a little more positive. Will keep you posted.

Harecare · 27/10/2011 21:02

musicalmrs - I'm so pleased you posted, I don't get the chance to read the whole thread and I remember you had spotting earlier on. When's your dating scan? It must be soon is it? I don't know why I'm suddenly feeling sicky, it's supposed to get better from 12 weeks isn't it, not worse??!
catsycat do you already have 2 girls too? Did you find out the gender with them? Will you for this one? DP is desperate for a boy, I sort of want one to keep him happy, but think 3 girls would be lovely. I think if we find out the gender and it's a boy everything will be alright, but if it's a girl there'll be disappointment. I'd love to know what someone else in the same situation thinks.
Dreaming If eating all day works for you, what do you eat that doesn't make you put on weight? I can't quite figure out what it is that I want to eat. Except toast maybe, but I'm a bit wheat intolerant and it gives me a tummy ache.
chipo Good luck tomorrow.

dreamingofanallotment · 27/10/2011 21:11

harecare the best snack things I've found have been breadsticks, sunbites crisps, salt and vinegar twirls, and ginger biscuits (are you sensing a crunchy theme?!) Jordan crunchy bars are good too. I've found raisins are good for a quick sugar fix too (and also help you feel like you're being slightly healthy too!) Hope one of those might help!

cairnterrier · 27/10/2011 22:02

harecare Tuc biscuits are my favourites at the moment - the right combination of salty, slightly sweet and very crunchy.

Harecare · 27/10/2011 22:38

Thanks cairn and dreaming. That's what I want, salty crunchy things. I couldn't eat a roast chicken dinner tonight, but managed 2 packs of crisps! I'm not keen on tuc or breadsticks, but Jordan bars are good, though expensive. Maybe I should make some flapjacks with dried fruit in them? I've run out of raisins which is unusual for our house. I am also craving hearty soups, just haven't had the time to make any. I think I'll turn my dinner leftovers into soup for tomorrow.

lalabaloo · 27/10/2011 23:13

Hi all,

Haven't been on here in a while as have been feeling pretty ill with morning sickness and sort of fell off the thread and didn't get back on. I'm really sorry to hear that we have had more bad news :( Keeping my fingers crossed for you Chipo.

We had our 12 week scan yesterday and baby is fine, I thought it would wiggle more than it did but we did see it move a bit, do they sleep this early on? It seems very strange thinking it is inside me. The due date has jumped forwards from 14th May to 5th May, so a bit less time to wait hopefully. I'm booked in with the homebirth team and have another appointment in November, and then 20 week scan the week before Christmas.

LadyMaybe · 28/10/2011 04:29

Seems like Fridays are my check-in days Smile - I realised last time I posted quickly after a scan and I missed passing on my thoughts to Floydie and CODwidow, and LindorChocs & Quenelle I was very sorry to see you have all suffered losses. You have my utmost sympathy, it's such a hard thing to go through and I do hope you can take it easy on yourselves, take time to grieve and find any answers you need before making further decisions about your next steps.

Mildert how are you feeling at the moment? Have you had a booking in appt or mentioned your anxiety to your MW? It is worth bringing it up as they'll know to keep an eye on your mental health both antenatally as well as postnatal, and should have some additional help to offer if things start getting bad. If you're worried about your friend, you could just be in contact and simply ask her how she's doing. Better to do that rather than stew, and then she'll know that she's in your thoughts?

Catsy 41 weeks seems like gambling for ELCS Shock

  • do they just do it as a low-grade EMCS if you go into labour beforehand? I suppose that way they know the baby is ready to come out but heavens! I'm hoping for a VBAC this time but if it turns out that a CS is going to be best then I'd rather have a fairly reliable scheduled date so that I can get care for DS and DH can book his time off promptly.

Wriggle those are lovely results for your screening. Congrats on yours too Malibu Mine also came back low risk and I've just told my first few people. Feels quite funny after keeping schtum all this time.

Chipo I hope it's all ok for you at the scan.

Harecare I did have nausea that was pretty bad, which faded at around 9-10 weeks, but I still have big problems around dinner time. So far I am managing to cook something at around 5:30 for DS and try to eat something then too - even if it's just a sandwich/wrap or left-over potato salad as it was yesterday. But after that I feel dreadful and it's not until 9 or so that I start to feel ok again, generally have a bowl of cereal & some fruit at that time and then start getting ready for bed (oh my exciting life!). I'm REALLY hoping this pattern doesn't continue as my poor DH is getting a bit fed up with having to fend for himself night after night. And I miss proper meals too. I'm sure it got better with DS so am counting on that for this PG too.

lalabaloo congrats on the scan. I think they do have periods of activity and rest - not sure if it would be classed as sleeping or not....when I had my scan the sonographer said they often moved in response to the pressure of the scanning thing (technical term), but it was reflex rather than anything else as the brain is still developing. But next 4 weeks are big brain development times so Omega oils ahoy!

I've been officially discharged from the Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic - just in time to have my first spotting of the pregnancy - but I was warned it would probably happen and it was a tiny amount and had no cramping so am being brave about it and Not Fretting. Next week I'll have my first High Risk Pregnancy clinic appointment Grin - couldn't get much more medicalised huh? Oh well, that's the hand I've been dealt and I'm more than happy to play it if I get a squidgy newborn to bring home at the end of all this.

Good luck to those still waiting for their scans. It's a rough old time especially as it gets closer - try to remember the stats ARE on your side. And Breeeeeathe. Waves to all.

musicalmrs · 28/10/2011 09:05

Harecare, indeed I had spotting early on - in fact, one episode of spotting, and one episode of lots of blood! Two early scans showed everything to be fine though. I think because I had early scans, they've made my 12week/NT scan quite late - 7th Nov, when I'll be 12w+6. Seeing the midwife properly for the first time tomorrow, which I'm very excited about! On the subject of food... my favourite treats are the moment are crumpets (toasted quite brown, so crunchy, with salty cream cheese - Primula being my current favourite - on!), and crackers - Ritz were on offer this week, which are my all time favourite! :D Also with you on the soup front - have bought some ingredients to make some this week, and will be taking them to work in a thermos flask. I'm also doing well with cereal bars, and am planning on making flapjacks this weekend. Also really enjoying dried cranberries at the moment...

I've been doing the hairband thing too dreaming! Had to cave and buy some maternity trousers as, although mine are normally ok ish in the mornings, by the end of the working day they're normally pretty uncomfortable (even though most of my trousers are a size or two too big - I like big, comfy trousers!). I've been measuring my 'bump' and waist - both slowly expanding, though bigger in the evenings, suggesting there's quite a bit of bloat in there! I'm only tiny, which I presume is why it's so obvious.

mythical · 28/10/2011 14:13

Has anyone experienced any cravings yet? I can't decide if mine are just " i'd love to eat some x" or if it's a craving. I'm ill but considering walking to tesco (20 min walk) to buy some taramasalata

dreamingofanallotment · 28/10/2011 14:20

I've had random things I've really really really wanted to eat - so don't know if that's craving or just odd eating habits! The other day I decided I had to have white bread, toasted with just spread on - I haven't eaten white bread for about 2 years as it makes me bloated! Hit the spot though, was soooo good! Also had cravings for milk a few weeks back - and when I looked at what was happening baby development wise that week, it was when the skeleton was being formed, so reckon it was my body telling me what I needed. Nothing bizarre yet though, no gherkins on cupcakes or ketchup on weetabix!

LittleSarah · 28/10/2011 14:22

yorky and catsy - missed your posts. Last two days dh hasn't gotten home til 9ish and it's been exhausting! Today all I want to do is lie down but am going to the city for the night and need to tidy/organise before we hit the road about 3.30.

Not showing yet, I usually don't until 4/5 months. I have a little tummy anyway (curvy size 12 me) so I think that would hide anything.

Right, off to have a wee lie down before the rush. Happy Friday all!
