Happy new year everyone!
So much to catch up on!
ghost hurrah for low BP - sounds like everything is progressing perfectly for you!!
ellie hope you have had a lovely time on the farm, despite not being able to cuddle the lambs! I'm sure you'll feel movement soon! I was desperate to feel it, but believe me, it is so worth the wait! I'm now reaching the point where it can be really uncomfortable/hurt but tbh I don't really mind, it's so reassuring and nice to know that fuzzy is doing OK in there! He responds to stimulus (he likes quiet and DP's voice up close to the bump!) and drums his feet on my bladder if he's unhappy with the position i'm in!! He also gets quite excited and kicky every time I go on the bus! Is the weirdest most lovely thing in the world - I hope you feel it soon!
davina glad i'm not the only one struggling with footwear!! I used to work with someone who wore flip flops all year round, even in the snow, but he was clearly deranged!
I guess I shall end up doing what I used to do when the arthritis stopped me putting my own shoes/socks on; get DP to do it for me in the morning before he left for work then keep them on all day! (or just stay home and wear slippers all day, given the pouring rain outside atm, that's really quite appealing)!
Bun great news that they aren't going to have to intervene in the pregnancy/birth! Frustrating that they can't tell exactly what it is yet, but it sounds like they aren't too phased by it, which is generally a good sign! If it's any reassurance, DP had surgery when he was about 6 weeks old to fix his pyloric stenosis (in those days it was experimental surgery - nowadays it's totally run of the mill) and he's turned out just fine! Doubtless surgery on a small baby is scary, but with any luck it will be one surgery that fixes the problem then you can all get on with leading normal happy lives!
carlita hurrah for feeling good! The voucher sounds great - it's so lovely to go buy practical bits and bobs for the baby isn't it - feels wonderfully strange that this will be our lives - nappes and wipes and muslins and sick! DP and I bought a few bits in the sales and it made it all feel very real (cos you know, the bump, kicks, scans etc clearly are just a happy dream, right?
)
mamma sorry about your DP getting drunk - I hate being around pissed people, fortunately DP rarely drinks (he's been drunk once in the nearly 14 years we've been together!) and I don't really drink either so it isn't something I have to deal with very often (we don't really socialise at pubs etc with friends that drink; do dinners, coffee dates etc instead) Glad he apologised and made it up to you though!
Kayzr yay for movement! Fingers crossed for your scan next week!
Bun so sorry you had a rubbish new years eve :( Hope you are getting well looked after by DP and are feeling better!
All this talk of labour bags etc is so scary/exciting! I'm just coming up on 26 weeks and as my niece was born at 30 weeks I should really sort myself out and get organised! DP and I have sadly made no progress on fuzzy's room this xmas as we've been ill... xmas day evening I fell sick with a tummy bug (managed not to puke, but the less said about the other end...
) and a high temp and spent boxing day completely flaked out on the sofa in really awful pain with my guts and fever. Took about 5 days to properly shake it and feel better, so we had to cancel all our plans - then just as I was feeling better DP came down with a cough/coldy thing and he's currently sat on the sofa in his PJs feeling rough... Not the best end to the year/start to 2012... but we have got to spend pretty much the entire break alone together which has been lovely, despite illness. I really do need to get on with fuzzy's room / house tidying now though - am very aware that fuzzy could arrive soon if things go bad, so want to get sorted so I can relax and stop worrying about being ready!!
Fortunately we made it out to see the consultant on the 29th (was worrying about going up the hospital if I was still poorly, didn't want to share the germs around, but the nasty infectious bit had passed by then, just felt knackered and weak by the 29th) She's really pleased with how everything is going. She has said that as the weeks go by they will use the abdominal circumference measurement they take at the scans as the main indicator of how he's doing. Which is great, as this is currently the largest/higher centile measurement he has!
She has checked over the interactions with my meds and signed off on me having gaviscon - she prescribed me a big bottle of the extra strong stuff, so I have finally had a some sleep! 3 nights now I've slept through from midnight till around 7am without waking to wee or in pain from heartburn; is bliss!!
We also finally got to hear fuzzy's heartbeat! As we don't see a midwife we'd never had a doppler - I asked my obst if she'd mind quickly letting us have a listen and she was lovely and did it straight away for us! Even suggested/let us record it on DP's phone!! Was amazing
I have my physio appt sorted for next week, which is great and my next scan is this Thursday - can't wait!
Despite the sicky end to last year/start to this year i'm feeling very excited and happy about the coming year - bring it on!
