Woohoo Carlita! Congratulations! You are the queen of the property market! Xmas Grin

I LOVE that wallpaper! Looks like great fun Xmas Smile

I've had a lovely weekend, finished Christmas decorations, wrapped presents, had a major clear up with DP (not quite so much fun but a big sense of achievement) and the lunch yesterday was lovely. I decided to stop being so sensitive irrational hormonal 'me' about the lack of contact and have realised that the fact that we've all had big changes in our lives lately (new jobs, moves, babies etc) that our friendships have changed in the sense of regular contact. But it was like we'd seen each other a week ago when we met up and it was great Xmas Smile

DP's lovely dad has said that he's happy to look after DS tomorrow so that I can go to the hospital for the glucose tolerance test on my own. I'm actually looking forward to it now as I'll get 2 hours alone with my Kindle! Xmas Grin

More Xmas Smile's from me as I placed the orders for the last of my Christmas shopping this morning! There were sales on everything I wanted so I saved loads of £'s!

Carlitawantsabauble · 12/12/2011 17:21

Thanks bun oh BTW, i'll not tell him it's colouring in paper, it says it can also be used as wallpaper! I ordered some iron on letters today too to make a 'scallywag' cushion and a 'poop deck' changing may cover Xmas Grin
Well done on all your savings bun! That is great when that happens!

Davinaaddict · 13/12/2011 04:32

Morning ladies - wishing I wasn't awake at this time in the morning but DS is coughing like mad & keeping me awake Xmas Sad It doesn't seem to be bothering him at all though, which is good.

DH got home about 1.30am on Saturday morning apparently, missed his last train so shared a taxi but it only cost him about £15 which is loads better than the £40 it would have cost had he got one on his own. He actually came to bed rather than falling asleep on the sofa which was unusual, so he can't have been that drunk. I was a real grumpy bum when he came to bed so pretended to be asleep so I didn't have to talk to him Xmas Blush We'd have only ended up falling out otherwise!

Sounds like you had a fun weekend Bun - glad you had a good time with your friends. Am very Xmas Envy at you finishing your Christmas shopping - I only started mine last Thursday and still have SOOOOOO much to do!

Woohoo for finding a new house Carlita - its great when things work out like that. Am also loving the pirate theme. DS was watching Octonauts yesterday (bad mother - needed to rest so had to put cbeebies on for a bit), and one of them was dressed up as a pirate - first I knew if this was DS going 'Aaaargh' in true pirate fashion! As he's only 23 months, I was soooo proud Xmas Grin

Randomly, I've just had a work email through (at this time in the morning???). Assuming its an IT one but can't be bothered to get out of bed to check - it will still be there in the morning.

Went to Zumba last night - was good actually as I've not been for 3 weeks, as my Zumba buddy has been suffering with the early pregnancy weeks, poor thing. Think she's over the worst now though, so that's good. Ooh, and we went to her Dads 50th party on Sat and one of the other girls is also pregnant so we're all going to be on mat leave together next summer Xmas Smile And I got lovely snuggly baby cuddles from one of the girls that had her DD at the beginning of November - scrumptious! Although I suspect we're going to have jealousy problems with DS as he REALLY didn't like me cuddling another baby Xmas Confused

Ok, going to try get back to sleep now but at least am working from home so can get up 10 mins before I start zzzzzz

JingleBun · 13/12/2011 14:53

Xmas Grin Carlita the poop deck changing mat is inspired! haha!

Hi Davina, hope you're not suffering to much today from the lack of sleep, I struggled last night too but for no good reason. Hope your DS's cough clears up soon, bless him. It's so horrible when they're ill Xmas Sad

Hope CBeebies doesn't make a bad parent as DS is watching some now Xmas Grin I'm worn out!

How lovely that there'll be a group of you on maternity leave at the same time! Nice to have people who understand so you can all help each other out Xmas Smile

I share your fears with jealous DS too. He's really good at the moment, loves looking after babies, asks to hug and kiss 'baby tummy' etc but you never know how they're going to react to a loud, stinky bundle taking up mum and dad's attention at home! Can't blame them really Xmas Grin He's getting a Christmas present 'from Baby' to try to keep him sweet Xmas Wink

Had my blood tests today. As always I had a nightmare of them trying to get a vein - they ended up having to take both samples (2 hours apart) from the same, already badly bruised arm. Ouch! My arm is now very bruised and sore. They also brought over a medical student (with my consent of course) to use me as an example of 'worst case scenario of patients to take blood from'! Anyway, I can get the results from 12pm onwards tomorrow so fingers crossed!
Had a lovely 2 hours to myself though, was reading Caitlin Moran's 'How To Be A Woman' which is fantastic and had me laughing out loud a little more than is appropriate for a hospital waiting room! Xmas Blush

Also, got a letter through today with a date for my bonus scan - this Friday! So excited to see pirate again! [frgin]

tinseltoedtrope · 13/12/2011 15:47

hello!!

bun fingers crossed for the test results! Love how they used you for the medical students!! Xmas Grin Glad you had a nice time with your friends, big sunday lunches out like that are so much fun!! Am very Xmas Envy that you've got your xmas shopping done! I had all these grand plans to make everything and am now seriously regretting it!! Am going for a mix of home made and shop bought now I think - am just too knackered to do it all myself! Have finally got everything to make our xmas cards, but fuzzy has decided that I am not allowed to sit at the table - he's kicking my stomach super hard and it is really really uncomfortable, so I may retire to the sofa instead for a while!! YAY for your scan on Friday! What a lovely end to the week! Xmas Grin

davina your cold / sneezing sounds horrid Xmas Sad and now no sleep! Poor you & poor your DS! Hope he shakes the cough off soon! Am Xmas Envy at you doing your zumba!! Wish I was still able to do proper exercise!! Managed a walk down to some local shops today but had to get the bus back - it takes almost nothing to wear me out atm! No worries about not remembering exactly how many babygrows you used - it's a bit of a random question really as as you say - it will vary lots! I think I am just going to err on the side of caution and get a few multipacks of plain white ones in addition to the nicer brighter ones we've got, so that we can't run out - that way if I do relapse post birth I'm not stressed out with doing lots of washing!

Ghost Hooray for you getting your midwife led birth! That's brilliant news! Fingers crossed your BP settles and you have no more worries from it!

Carlita YAAAY! for new house! That's awesome! Am so impressed that you've found somewhere better already!! It's clearly meant to be! Xmas Grin Congratulations - am so pleased for you!
Love the wallpaper you've chosen - and the "poop deck" changing mat cover idea - that's very cool!

We had a pretty quiet weekend in the end - didn't even leave the house on Sunday! Just ate nice food (I made scones - with clotted cream and jam - mmm!) and lazed about! We have put up some decorations, so our living room is looking nice and festive now! It was so nice to just have some time alone with DP - have been really missing him! He's got a super busy week at work this week (NY clients over to the UK for 3 days of meetings and DPs boss just went on paternity leave so DP is covering for him too!) so we won't get to see each other much. Then there's just this weekend coming (when we are seeing friends) and then the next one is xmas!!! Don't know where this year has gone really!! Can't wait to cosy up at home and spend some proper time together!

In other news fuzzy has really ramped up the activity! He's kicking so much! Can feel funny tumbling movements - which I think is him turning round/doing somersaults - as well as kicking and prodding type movements! I scratched an itch on my tummy on the weekend, and felt something like a hand pushing back!! Is amazing! If I cuddle up to DP in bed now, fuzzy can kick him too! Xmas Wink Despite the resurgance of my evil heartburn and massive fatigue I am starting to enjoy being pregnant more now - the kicking responds to noise, voices etc and I'm starting to feel more of a connection to fuzzy from that! Is weird to think there's another four months of this to come!!

Oh - and we didn't unwrap/build the bednest, we were feeling too lazy!! But we will do it soon & I shall report back on it!! Xmas Smile

fools don't worry about catching up! Just jump back in! We miss you!! Xmas Grin

Davinaaddict · 13/12/2011 22:08

Oh dear - just realised my last post was somewhat the ramblings of a sleep deprived crazy person [hgrin] Praying for a better night tonight, but not looking likely considering the amount of coughing poor DS is doing already [hsad]

Glad I'm not the only one that sometimes uses the CBeebies babysitter Bun Ooh - like the baby Christmas present! We're going to get DS a present for when Disco Bump arrives (finally decided on a name!), but not thought about Christmas..... Poor sore arm, but great news they managed to get some blood for your tests. And a lovely scan again on Friday!

I know just how you feel with the hard kicks trope Disco Bump seems to be getting increasing worse as the days go on, but I think that's because of the lessening amount of room in my tummy [hconfused] It's not a difference in movement particularly, just harder, and so seemingly more violent! Doesn't bode well for the next 3 months (88 days to go!) Sorry you're not feeling too great exercise-wise [hsad] I have up and down days, and think I'll be having more down days going forward. My friend and I have decided though, that if we're not up for Zumba on a Monday, we're going to go to Yoga on a Thursday so we're at least trying to do something. I was a really lazy bum last time round so I'm determined not to be the same again!
Good idea about stocking up on plain white baby gros/vests. They are fairly cheap if you get them from the supermarkets, and always look fine. If you're anything like I was last time, we became very much home birds (helped by the terrible weather, and the struggles we had establishing bf), we just saved the nice outfits for when we were going out/had visitors. And very well put - come back fools! We've all done the 'Have read it all' jump back in without doing a catch up post (well some of us have anyway!). It would be nice to catch up on how you're doing though [hsmile]

Davinaaddict · 13/12/2011 22:09

Aaaaargh at the flippin Halloween smilies again!!!!! As you were.... Xmas Grin

JingleBun · 14/12/2011 09:36

Trope I was the same, had plans to make lots of homemade gifts this year (because we're skint) but lost all motivation and now most people are just getting homemade Christmas cards - only buying for DS, DP and DMum - which would explain why I've finished already! Xmas Grin

Another one Xmas Envy of any exercise going on - I dream of being able to just have a nice long walk atm! As soon as this PGP (hopefully) gets better, I'll be a spot on the horizon! Xmas Smile

Lovely to hear that Fuzzy and Disco Bump (very cute Xmas Smile) are making themselves known! Pirate has definitely run out of space in there now, she's wriggling about so much I can hardly tell which end is which!

Well, my arm is showing off some pretty interesting shades of purple and blue today, with lots of little red spots to make it a little more festive Xmas Wink
Really nervous about phoning for the results later, been feeling more thirsty than normal lately and I know that's a possible symptom of GD - hoping it's just me preparing for the worst as always.

Xmas Grin Davina, you and your [hsmilies]! Haha!

Carlitawantsabauble · 14/12/2011 10:01

Xmas Grin davina at the Halloween obsession!

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 14/12/2011 10:01

Lovely to read all the posts ladies! Hate to read and run but I have 4 more work days before my mat leave starts and I'm currently training my mat leave cover. Probably not a good example to be sitting here grinning away at my phone Grin

Davinaaddict · 14/12/2011 10:57

Don't worry Bun I'm sure the extra thirstyness is because of the extra heating needed to keep warm meaning you need more hydration than normal Xmas Smile Let us know how you get on.

Like the Christmas name Carlita As you can tell, I'm not inspired yet, although it's not Christmas for us until 19th Dec because of DH's birthday on the 18th so that's my deadline for a new name. Best get thinking Xmas Confused!

Love the thought of you MNing instead of training Ghost! My jobs on the board but no applications yet Xmas Confused Hoping they are all leaving it til last minute, but I know at least 2 of the people that applied last time, have changed their mind because of other things going on now - trying not to panic yet! Good luck with your handover. Am quite Xmas Envy at your Maternity leave starting in 4 days though. Can't believe how quick this year had gone!

Well suppose I better get back to work boring Xmas Grin

JingleBun · 14/12/2011 12:31

Blood test results all clear!! Woohoo! Xmas Grin So relieved! Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

Carlitawantsabauble · 14/12/2011 13:13

Hooray! Congratulations bun! Fab news Xmas Grin
davina my job has been advertised too but also no applications as yet. I assume they will end up getting someone external as I have asked a few colleagues if they'd be interested and responses have ranged from "no thanks" with laughter to a series of expletives. My job is very busy and I have to work quite a lot faster than most people in the area to keep up with everything. I love it but other people think I'm mad. I have been without a deputy for a year, just got one last month, and they are replacing me with 2 managers so I'm sure they'll cope having 3 people to do what I was doing alone Xmas Wink
Yay for 4 days ghost! The last few days are always so mad and busy, you'll need a good rest next week. Well done for working so long, I don't think I would manage it!
trope Xmas Shock that he's kicking so hard it hurts already!

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 14/12/2011 13:16

Yey bun! Carlita, hope the process of finding your replacements is smoother than mine was - we ended up with someone inexperienced as no one else wanted to risk giving up a permanent post, even for a promotion!

Carlitawantsabauble · 14/12/2011 17:10

Guess what? The guy who stole our house has pulled out and we now have complete choice between the two! Very nice position to be in to be sure we've made the right decision! Xmas Grin

Davinaaddict · 14/12/2011 18:53

Yay Bun - great news! Nice to know you can stop worrying now Xmas Smile

From what you've said about your job Carlita, you & I could actually be the same person Xmas Grin. Found out today that they've extended the application deadline until next Friday so I'll be lucky to get my replacement in by the end of Jan! Not sure we'll look externally though, as its only for 6 months. Was hoping we'd have someone in place early Jan so I can make sure of a smooth handover before I bugger off - looks like not though. We've got a team strategy day that I'm organising in mid Jan so if we can get them in to at least attend that, that would be a huge help. As if we don't have enough to worry about just having these babies! Xmas Grin Small price to pay for maternity leave I suppose..... Sounds like you've had fun as well Ghost Xmas Confused

Great news on the house front - always nice to have the choice! Which one will you go for, do you think?

Carlitawantsabauble · 15/12/2011 09:30

Grin davina you're the mad efficient one too then? We going to go with the new one. We loved the old one and it is prettier and cheaper and on a prettier street and we'd have a nice big budget to do it up but it would always have one huge bedroom, one average and one tiny and would always have a small, square garden at the back and just steps up to the door at the front (we were imagining how much fun this would be with a baby/toddler/pram/both) whereas the other one (new one) is not ugly- has 3 average sized bedrooms, a gorgeous multi layered garden, a huge storage area (internal alleyway which runs the length of the house) a walled front garden and street level entry. It'll leave money very tight so we'll have to save up my maternity pay over the year to pay to do it up (and sacrifice the holiday we had planned) but at the end of the day it's the better house and we'll be happier there for longer. An important point seeing as i never want to move again! Xmas Smile

foolserrand · 15/12/2011 13:56

Morning all! Giving up withthe catch up for now. There's far too much going on and its all very exciting.... houses, babies.... wow. GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 15/12/2011 14:01

Fools congratulations in team girl baby! You were obvs v excited about it given your post Wink

tinseltoedtrope · 15/12/2011 15:28

Bun YAY! Congrats on the test results - now you can rest easy (and tell the midwife where to shove her concerns about your BMI! Xmas Wink)

I wish I had as few people to buy for as you!! As a bare minimum I have to do DP, MiL, BiL, DM, DF and 2 out of 3 of my sisters and my niece (although shopping for her is fun!) We also usually get something small for any aunts/uncles/cousins/close friends that we see over the xmas break and I had been feeling guilty that as we are being anti-social and not seeing anyone that people wouldn't be getting presents - but sod it! I'm too tired to care now! We have a handful of birthdays to buy for as well, can't really get away with not doing those - not their fault their birthdays fall near xmas!

I'm still heroically trying to finish the handmade cards - have decided that closest family and friends will get hand made and everyone else can have one of the leftover shop ones from past years I've got put away upstairs!! (and I'm culling my card list dramatically as well!)

Carlita Wow about the house! I wonder why it fell through? They must be absolutely kicking themselves that they screwed you guys over for the cash buyer now - how lovely that they are getting exactly what they deserve!! The second house definitely sounds better imo - hopefully this one will go through without a hitch!

Love the xmas name by the way! Xmas Grin

fools Congratulations! Xmas Grin It's lovely knowing isn't it? I keep saying to myself "i'm going to have a son" - somehow it feels more real knowing that fuzzy is a he! How lovely to find out just in time for xmas!

Bump is growing at a tremendous rate still - it feels like my sides are actually going to split open anytime now! My friend popped over earlier (lending me her hypnobirthing CD - yay!) and she's convinced that bump has grown since we last met up... on Monday!! Xmas Shock Fingers crossed this means that fuzzy is growing really well still - next scan a week today - can't wait!

And with that - I must get back to the card making! Last posting for second class is saturday so I really don't have long!!

Carlitawantsabauble · 15/12/2011 20:12

trope let me know how long you manage to stay awake for with the CD, I always fall asleep before it reaches the end, DH fell asleep within 5 mind first time he heard it the other night Xmas Grin

MammaInTheMaking · 16/12/2011 17:17

Great news Bun and Carlita Smile

I'm in Bath with DP, having such a lovely time. Gorgeous city!! Also we have a development.......I have a bump!!!!!!!!!!! Grin

Carlitawantsabauble · 16/12/2011 18:04

Hahahaha! mamma I totally misread that and thought you were in the bath with DP, gorgeous city (as in it is soooo gorgeous)!! Was feeling a bit Blush for a second wondering why you were involving us!! Xmas Grin have a lovely time and enjoy your new bump!

MammaInTheMaking · 16/12/2011 22:06

Hahahahahaha Carlita that's made me laugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yup, I'll include you all in my most intimate details Grin

Indeed Bath is simply brilliant. Will definitely be coming back. We went on 3 tours today! Tourist overload!

elliebug · 16/12/2011 22:38

Just wanted to share with you the advice from my lovely out of hours gp, (who I rang cos I have a temp that won't come down with paracetamol)
"ibuprofen is good for reducing temps, but you can't take that in pregnancy"
Hope you all feel enlightened!! I'm a bit confused cos the midwife seemed concerned about the temp but not the dr! Oh well, I'm not getting out of bed tomorrowGrin
