Hi! Loving the Christmas names, keep them coming! Xmas Smile Trying mine on for size, still not sure...

Had a lovely Christmassy weekend - tree up, singing and dancing to Christmas songs with DS (much to DP's amusement) and wrapping presents Xmas Smile
Some more decorations to go up tonight and will finish the last of the Christmas cards. I haven't done any Christmas crafts for weeks now, lost my motivation Sad
I've had 2nd thoughts about DS's stocking and have bought a couple of these bags that I'm going to embroider in the same way as the stocking (christmas tree) and then DC's can decorate them themselves in a few time Smile

Carlita I can't believe what your sister has had to put up with! Hope she's feeling better.

Sorry I made you cry Ellie! Xmas Smile Hope you're feeling more yourself soon, I promise it will happen! Eventually.

Ghost am Xmas Shock at people on the Feb thread having their babies already! I'm now chanting 'Itwon'thappentome' ad infinitum!

We're getting frustrated as we can't get the last of the baby stuff we need until DP gets paid for a big job he's recently done but he's getting messed about by the clients Angry they're refusing to pay until he corrects some errors that a different company made with the underfloor heating system and they've since scarpered! So annoying that self employed contractors aren't protected against this type of wanker! Struggling to get everything ready for Christmas let alone the baby now Xmas Sad Angry

Carlitawantsababy · 06/12/2011 08:06

Sad we lost the house. We were supposed to exchange tomorrow but a cash buyer turned up a few days ago, we've been in a bidding war and he's won, he's gone so high we now can't match him, even if we spent the entire renovation budget. Sad house hunting on Saturday then!

Carlita that's totally gutting and so last minute too. I really feel for you. I hope you find somewhere even better when you go looking this weekend.

Carlitawantsababy · 06/12/2011 08:58

Thanks mamma

HURRAH! I FOUND YOU ALL! waves furiously

Looking up, it seems I have lots to catch up on [groan]. Will quickly say, sorry about the house, Carlita. I'm sure you will end up in an even better dream house.

Right, best get reading!

Davinaaddict · 06/12/2011 21:27

And me! Stoopid iPhone keeps dropping this thread from ones I'm on randomly! Been mostly lurking after that horrid virus but back to full (pregnancy) strength now Xmas Smile. Bad news is, that means I need to start getting organised for Christmas & DC2's arrival! But for now, time to catch up - I may be some time Xmas Grin

Davinaaddict · 06/12/2011 22:26

Gosh - cant believe it's nearly 2 weeks since I posted! [hblush]

Carlita - really sorry to hear about the house Xmas Sad That must be so frustrating. But it will probably fall down tomorrow anyway [hwink]. That's a horrible story about your sis - hope she's feeling better now. Hooray for lots of lovely newborn snuggles!

Like the Christmas name Bun. I'm thinking I might name change anyway cos my normal name is a bit rubbish and doesn't fit anymore. I'm hopeless at thinking up good names though. If I can come up with a good non-Christmas name then I can get a Christmas name to match, job done! Not feeling the whole Christmas thing yet though - really need to get a wriggle on. Less than 3 weeks now, aaaaargh! Sorry about the whole lack of paying customers though - hope your DP gets it sorted soon so you can go do some lovely shopping and spend it all . Aw that's such a lovely story about your LO donating his sticker to make mummy better.

Bah humbug to DP being back in NY trope - hope he's home soon. Sounds like you have plenty to keep you busy though, so that's good. Ps if the essays scared me away, I'd have scared myself lots if times over - oh, there I go again [hwink] [hgrin] Tips on clothing - my DS pretty much lived in babygros for the first few months except for when we went out to show him off and we just had a couple of nice outfits then. I found they were easier as there were so many sick & poo incidents, having a stack of babygros was easier than worrying about matching different outfits.

Hi ellie - good to see you're still here. Try not to worry about feeling fat - we've all been there too, so you'll get lots of sympathy here [hsmile]. And I'm sure the word you're looking for isn't fat, it's radiant!

Yay for Blubes! Great news Mamma (but a shame we can't all coo over the photo). I'm sure it's beautiful though [hsmile]

I think that's covered most things (apologies if I have missed anything major).

So I had our annual Sales Conference last week, so I got to wear my new party frock and my high heels for once! It went down a treat & I got lots of people telling me how lovely I looked - it's been so long since ANYONE said that I must admit, I did enjoy it probably a lot bit too much [hblush] It was a fabulous night and I even had a good dance and stayed up til 2am!!!! Sorry for all the exclamation marks - I've not quite got over it yet. Am very chuffed I wasn't asleep under the table by about half 7 [hgrin] Must be all that energy I got from drinking tap water all night!

Not much more excitement going on here - ooh except my ex bosses wife went into labour last night. She was due on Christmas day so looking forward to hearing the news on that one! Am starting to think about the birth more & more now - 95 days til my due date now. Not really looking forward to that bit, but of course cannot wait for more newborn snuggles of my own. A friend of mine who had hers a few weeks ago keeps posting on her fb about her snuggles with her DD and I do find myself getting a bit [henvy]. Not long now though and loads to do before then so that's a good thing! Hope you're all really well (and not falling asleep at my essay!) Time for a quick check to see if Nickelbabe has had her baby yet -I've been lurking on her threads on Childbirth. Then off to sleep for me, if this bouncy bump will let me [hgrin] Nite all!

Davinaaddict · 06/12/2011 22:28

Oh dear - baby brain has clearly taken over as I still think its Halloween not Christmas according to my smilies. On that note, I'm off to bed! Xmas Grin

AwayinaKayzr · 07/12/2011 09:51

I'm sorry I'm useless at keeping up.

I've got my 12 weeks scan at 11. Now trying to drink the pint and a half the letter says I need too. It's not nice.

Hope you're all ok.

tinseltoedtrope · 07/12/2011 13:29

carlita oh that just plain sucks, I'm so sorry! The system for buying/selling houses in this country is just mad. It's awful that they can screw you over at this late stage like this. They should, at the very least, have to compensate you for costs already incurred... Xmas Sad Hope you find somewhere even better soon!

Bun I know what you mean about losing motivation - i'm really struggling to get on with anything, let alone xmas stuff. I didn't get the house straight, I haven't done the xmas decs, I haven't made any mini wheaty bags. I have slept a lot and read a lot of MN though... Xmas Blush I blame being stressed about the first growth scan - I've been trying super hard to rest, eat well and not worry and I've done OK on two out of those three things...

Grrr at your DPs client not paying - it's awful being self employed sometimes Xmas Sad People mess you around so badly and there's so little you can do... Hope they pay up soon!

davina thanks for tip on babygrows - had been erring on the side of babygrows for the first few months as it happens - not sure I can be faffed with proper little outfits! How many babygrows did you get through a day do you reckon? I'm trying to work out if i've got enough/too many/not enough, but it's really hard to gauge!

Hurrah for getting lots of compliments at the party - how lovely! Am very impressed at you staying up till 2am! I'd have been dead on my feet!!

Xmas Grin at the halloween smileys - if it's any consolation I totally didn't realise that you were doing halloween smileys by accident - instead my brain was trying to work out what christmassy word begins with "h" that you must have incorrectly put instead of "f" for the xmas smileys!! (I came up with h for holiday smiley - but decided it was too american and was mostly left confused). Only remembered that hsmiley was from halloween when you posted your second comment!! So you're not the only one with a malfunctioning brain!! Xmas Grin

kayzr good luck for your scan! Hope it went well!

Well, DP is sat on the runway at JFK waiting for his flight to take off! Hurrah! I rather frustratingly have a scan at 4pm - as the hospital messed up and booked my first growth scan for today instead of tomorrow and they can't reschedule it. With any luck i'll get scanned, checked at the day unit and out in time to get to heathrow to get DP. But it's going to be a rush hour drive now - instead of a leisurely drive up to my folks in the afternoon, nice dinner with them, then onto Heathrow. Am too nervous about the scan to be properly annoyed though tbh - just really hoping that fuzzy has put on some weight and is doing better. DP is going to be in the air when I get out, so I won't have anyone to call/talk to if it's bad news... Xmas Sad Anyways - fingers crossed fuzzy will fine and i'm worrying about nothing!

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 07/12/2011 19:23

hey ladies! Sorry I haven't been around much - things have been manic! All's well though and I reach 35 weeks tomorrow - how scary is that???!!!

trope oooh bednest - is it as swish and shiny as it looks on the website? I really hope your scan went well and you managed to collect your DH!

kayzr how was your scan? must have been exciting! I haven't seen pamplemousse for 16 weeks now, unless you count watching a baby body part trying to bust out of my belly at random intervals Grin

The good news from me is that ppm is no longer transverse and is now head down, even if ppm is on the right hand side instead of the left (more chance of back to back labour apparently). My blood pressure is still too high, unfortunately, which means I have to have blood tests and BP tests every week or fortnight, and it's possible that they may not let me give birth in the MW unit. But I'm hoping when I finish work (on Dec 21st at 37 weeks!) I can relax a bit Grin

Anyway, hope you're all keeping well and are doing better sorting out christmas than I am!

AwayinaKayzr · 07/12/2011 19:59

The scan went very well. Baby won't stay still so it took a while to get the measurements needed. Very very happy and excited. Grin

Carlitawantsababy · 08/12/2011 09:13

Congratulations kayzr fab news! Grin additional congratulations on your Christmas name, definitely one of the best I've seen! Grin

Xmas Grin my sis and the twins are going home today! Off to help soon (back on cuddle duty, such a hard life Xmas Wink)

tinseltoedtrope · 08/12/2011 15:02

ghost hurrah for pamplemousse not being transverse anymore! Can't believe you're 35 weeks - not long at all to go! So exciting! Xmas Grin Fingers crossed for your blood pressure coming down! I think you've done amazingly to still be working at this stage - hope you can start winding down in these last few weeks!

Kayzr glad the scan went well! Xmas Grin

Carlita WOOO! Congratulation to your sister - that's fantastic! How lovely to have the twins home for xmas! Enjoy your newborn snuggles! I'm so very Xmas Envy!!

Well I had my scan yesterday afternoon and fuzzy has grown. Fuzzy has, in fact, grown rather a lot. He's nearly doubled in weight!! He's gone from well below the 10th centile (as in, resting on the bottom of the chart) to just shy of the 50th centile, in just 2 weeks! Clearly a healthy diet of shortbread and days spent mumsnetting on the sofa is the way to go! Xmas Wink He's gone from very low down - 10-20th centile on most other measurements - to around 50 on everything. His abdominal circumference is up over the 50th centile! His estimated weight has gone from 267g to 465g!! You could actually see the difference in him on the scan; he was chunkier looking! Was amazing! Both the sonographer and midwife/consultant (not sure who she was, but she reviewed the report on the day unit for me) were gobsmacked at his progress! So all is good, they will keep doing the fortnightly scans so he's closely monitored, but for now we can breathe a huge sigh of relief!

He was being quite wriggly, but not too unhelpful for the scan this time. At one point he was sucking one hand while appearing to scratch his arse with the other!! Definitely a boy! Xmas Wink He seems to play with his fingers and toes a lot, which is really lovely to watch! I do find the scans very emotional - one person I know with 3 kids reckons that you get bored of the scans as you go on, but I'm still loving every single second of them!! They are just amazing!

I've popped the scan pics up on my profile (couldn't resist getting some as it was such a lovely clear view of him - suspect i'm going to end up spending a fortune on scan pics with fortnightly scans!!) Rather brilliantly, I was out of the hospital in time to have a quick dinner with my dad before going on to heathrow to pick up DP. (Who is back at work today Xmas Sad)

I think all the stress of the low weight/scans really wore me out more than I realised though - after DP left for work this morning I fell asleep on the sofa for 3 hours! I've now had a bath and a lazy carb heavy lunch and am debating whether to do anything more active than lying on the sofa watching er boxsets! There's lots I should be doing, but I still feel exhausted and very emotional & filled with relief at fuzzy doing better so I may just have a super lazy day as a treat!

It's DPs work do tonight, but we're giving it a miss; he's knackered, i'm knackered and neither of us much feel like spending our first evening together after his trip around other people. Plus it's pissing down and 60mph winds down here, hardly the kind of weather to make you want to dress up and go out!

I haven't actually opened the bed nest yet - will get DP to do it with me on the weekend I think! Will build it and attach it to the bed, so we can see what it will be like! Am very excited!!

Carlitawantsabauble · 08/12/2011 15:17

Xmas Grin great news trope that's quite some progress for fuzzy and yes, definitely a boy!

Carlitawantsabauble · 08/12/2011 15:18

And ghost, sorry, very please for you too! Xmas Grin

JingleBun · 08/12/2011 16:36

Hi all.

Carlita so sorry to hear about the purchase falling through Xmas Sad how disappointing for you when you were so close! Hope you fine a gem at the weekend and get back on the lucky bus!
Yay for your sister and the twins coming home! Xmas Smile

Fools you still catching up?! or have you sensibly pegged it? Xmas Wink

oh Davina sounds like you had a lovely time at the conference. You made me laugh with the Halloween smilies Xmas Grin

Glad your scan went well Kayzr! Fantastic name change too!

Ghost great news that Pamplemousse has turned for you! Unfortunately Pirate Baby has decided to do the same and is now in a breach position!
You're amazing to be working up until 37 weeks! Xmas Shock

Trope the person that said to you that the scans get boring is bonkers! I'd have one every week if I could! Xmas Grin
Woohoo for fuzzy!! That's amazing! Have you been munching on <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=miracle+grow&hl=en&sa=X&biw=1024&bih=485&tbm=isch&prmd=imvnsl&tbnid=Rmap2t6Wej5KFM:&imgrefurl=www.dooyoo.co.uk/garden-chemicals/miracle-gro/reviews/&docid=siZo-od52heGsM&imgurl=img.dooyoo.co.uk/GB_EN/orig/0/0/4/4/0/44075.jpg&w=600&h=600&ei=tNjgTtzVHoq-8AO46NDtBA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=208&vpy=150&dur=1186&hovh=225&hovw=225&tx=120&ty=138&sig=116017114385841376488&page=1&tbnh=122&tbnw=106&start=0&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Miracle Grow? Xmas Wink

Lovely that your DP's home, definitely a good idea to stay in, DS and I got rather soggy and wind swept today! Most definitely a night for cosy snuggles Xmas Smile

Just back from midwife appointment and had my Lucozade test results - the cut off point here for glucose levels is 7.7; my result was 7.8! How typical! I'd had toast and a big glass of Ribena before the test which MW said would definitely have affected it and offered to call to see if we could just repeat the test instead of going up to the hospital for the full 2 hour glucose tolerance test but I just said to book me for the hospital appointment so we know for sure one way or the other. She shared my views of how silly it is me being pestered about it all when everything is taken into account so it's nice to know I'm not just in denial! Xmas Grin
It's going to be very interesting on Tuesday, if DP's dad is happy and able to, he'll look after DS and I'll go in a taxi with a book to keep me occupied (sounds nice actually!) but if he can't, well it'll be interesting - 2 hours+ in a hospital waiting room with a 2.8yo?
Everything else was perfect (minus bump being breach), BP, urine, bump's HB etc all good Xmas Smile
MW sent off a request for my 'bonus scan' so I'll get the date for that soon Xmas Smile so happy I get to see this little mother-beating monster again! It'll be my favourite Christmas present this year!

Sure there was something else I wanted to say but I can't remember now. Off for a bath (with DS so not particularly relaxing) because my pelvis and hips are screaming at me for the walking I've done today Xmas Sad

Davinaaddict · 08/12/2011 22:54

Hi ladies

Hope you're all ok on this horrid night!

Sorry trope - Slightly Xmas Blush that I can't remember how many baby gros we'd use in 24 hours but it does vary depending on how many sick/leaky poo incidents baby has of course. We ended up with loads as we'd bought maybe 10 & then got given some as well which meant we had time to wash & dry them in between as well. Glad I'm not the only one being a bit of a fruit loop Xmas Grin - holiday is definitely too American! Bad news about the crap organisation for your scan Xmas Angry but fantastic news about fuzzys growth (and your bed nest)!

35 weeks Ghost! Only 3 more weeks then you'll be classed as full term! How exciting Xmas Smile hope you manage to get your BP down. The rest should help, just make sure you don't do too much over Christmas/New year! I'm rubbish at Christmas organising but managed to do my first lot of Christmas shopping tonight so at least I've made a start now! Xmas Grin

Great news about your scan Kayzr! There seems to be a bit of a theme with all these very active babies on here Xmas Smile

Another Xmas Envy here at twins cuddles Carlita.

Shame you need to go for the full test Bun but hopefully they will then get off your back once & for all about it.

Well I'm back to feeling crap again as I woke up totally full of cold and have been sneezing all day. Typical as my first works do is at 2pm tomorrow Xmas Angry I also think I've pulled a load of muscles in bump with all the sneezing as I've been getting some pains across it tonight (and promptly getting a rollicking from DH for overdoing it- oops)! Going to try get some sleep now, and then nice relaxing shower in the morning to clear my head.

Ps So glad I glanced through before posting - we nearly had more Halloween smileys Xmas Grin

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 09/12/2011 17:18

How's your bump doing Davina, still sore from sneezing? Ouch!

I had my MW appt today and my BP is still high, but not high enough to affect plans for my MW led birth, yey! They took readings with a machine today and I had five extremely high readings, before they gave up and used the old fashioned cuff and got a much more normal (still high) reading, phew!

Davinaaddict · 09/12/2011 23:28

Not too bad thanks ghost Think it's sore from dancing now Xmas Confused (works Christmas do tonight) Am all snuggled up in bed now, waiting for very drunk DH to get home. Hopefully he'll be on the train now, but I haven't heard from him so who knows!

Boo for high BP but really glad it's not too high. Sounds like a fun experience with all those readings Xmas Confused. Hope you're getting lots of rest.

Davinaaddict · 09/12/2011 23:29

Gosh - lots of 'now's in that post! Time for some sleep methinks Xmas Grin

JingleBun · 10/12/2011 09:56

We are definitely focused on sleepsuits and vests too, got given a squillion little outfits for DS that he never wore (apart from posing in for the thank you photos), jeans etc on a newborn never looked comfortable to me! Pirate Baby has a couple of simple bright coloured cotton dresses in 3-6months that'll go with leggings so should still be nice and comfy for when we're inclined to be presentable. But, on the whole, she'll definitely be living in sleepsuits most of the time Xmas Smile

Davina, hope you're feeling good today, sounds like a lovely night! Not sure I remember how to dance if its not to the dulcet tones of Bob The Builder and the likes! Xmas Wink Also, hope your DH got home in relatively good order last night/this morning Xmas Grin

Great news about your BP not being too high for your MW led birth Ghost! Must be such a relief Xmas Smile

It's gorgeous and sunny here today but bloody freezing, DP is taking DS to the park all wrapped up warm and I'm going to get cracking on the Christmas present wrapping, then DS and I are going to bake some cakes/biscuits (depending on what my cupboard contents allow) and use our new star shaped cookie cutters - exciting times. So Trope, if you notice a layer of flour covering Hove, don't worry, it's just us! Xmas Grin

Meeting up with a group of friends tomorrow for Sunday lunch, I'm a bit apprehensive as none of them have bothered contacting/replying to me in about 5months (apart from one message to arrange tomorrow)! Xmas Confused Xmas Angry Not sure how I'm going to approach that one yet...

Carlitawantsabauble · 12/12/2011 12:16

Glad everyone is doing okay Xmas Smile
We found another house on Saturday, got an offer accepted, and as everyone said it's even better than the last one! Not as pretty from the outside and street not quite as pretty but rooms are better proportions (3 good sized bedrooms instead of 2 and a box) and the garden is a lot bigger and beautiful instead of being a paved square Xmas Grin and phew! The boy will have a house!!
I've even chosen the wallpaper for his room... www.lauraashley.com/childrens-wallpapers/treasure-island-colouring-in-paper/invt/3519967/
