Yay! EDD is 11th June Smile and mil's 60th bday party is 8th June. And 2 sil's bdays are also in June plus great-grandma-in-law. So busy times!

Sounds like a fab house Carlita. brighton's so much fun. We thought of moving there but in the end couldn't leave London just yet. Our lives and jobs are here. We bought a place which was liveable but needed full on redecorating and putting right in every room. Now that Blubes is really in there we can properly start doing the nursery room with with a baby in mind.

So much building and redecorating and moving going on in this thread. Clearly everyone's nesting Wink

BunMyOven · 09/11/2011 17:19

Congratulations Mamma!! Grin So happy for you!

And congratulations to you Carlita also! Fantastic news, it does sound very dream like! Hope everything goes smoothly for you. I can certainly sympathise with the PGP restricting you, I'm feeling very anti social atm. I'm sure a meet up once DC's have arrived would be lovely Smile

Sorry I'm not catching up properly, am in the middle of cooking dinner, just wanted to pop on and see how Mamma got on Smile

Carlitawantsababy · 09/11/2011 21:33

mamma I'm moving to Hastings rather than Brighton, I like Brighton but am after a quieter life than that, but Brighton is a good place to meet up with trope and bun as they also live near Brighton. I can't wait to move, glad it's so soon!

bun yes, totally antisocial! I went to aqua natal for the first time tonight and it was great! Felt reasonably normal doing something other than working or laying down in pain! Smile baby has been very quiet today, I've barely felt him so am hoping he's back on form by tomorrow as I feel a teeny bit worried..

elliebug · 10/11/2011 09:44

ok, have set photos so anyone can see them as i'm not sure how to do it any other way!! let me know if it still doesnt work!!

trope · 10/11/2011 10:08

Mamma Hurrah! That's fantastic news! :) Where did "blubes" as a name come from? It's very cute!

Carlita That sounds fantastic - i'm jealous of your renovation budget!! That being said, we spent nearly a month renovating our place before moving in (we were renting before, so overlapped for a month to allow for it) but really we could have done with another month and twice as much money!! How lovely to be planning at least ten years in your home - DP and I have been in ours 4.5 years now and would very much like wherever we buy next to be our proper long term family home; I love the security of staying put, of getting to see the seasons change in your garden year in year out and having xmas traditions specific to your house etc.

No worries about meeting up - totally understand not wanting to go out if you're in pain with the PGP! As Bun says, we can all meet up once the DCs have arrived! Grin

I wouldn't want to live in Brighton either, i'm right out the far western side of Hove and am very happy with that! Don't like my road (some unpleasant neighbours and the road has become a bit of a rat run since we moved in) but the location in terms of getting to Brighton, London etc is perfect. Shame all the nice roads have half million pound price tags for even the smallest homes!! DP and I are considering moving up into the countryside north of here with our next move, although it depends on my health staying good (too isolating otherwise when i'm sick) and us finding somewhere near enough to a train station for him to commute to London. So who knows! In an ideal world we'd stay in Hove, but prices here are so high I'm not sure we can afford the kind of family home we want without taking on even more insane debt than we already did to buy this house! Still, we're staying put until fuzzy is here, will see what the housing market is like next autumn and take it from there!

Any wriggling from the baby yet today? I'm sure it's nothing to worry about; probably just the change in your routine throwing him off his usual pattern!

Eliie Your profile still seems to be closed for me - can't click on your name on the thread to get to it.

Well, the builders had the decency to at least ring today to say they would be late - shame they didn't ring yesterday so I could have had a lie in! On the bright side though - the final coat of render went on yesterday - and it looks fab! Is nice and dry and sunny(ish) today, so it should dry out lots today! Am very excited to finally be in the home run of the works - just painting to go! Grin

elliebug · 10/11/2011 10:21

ugh, if it doesnt work now i have no idea how to make it work, sorry, think i might go back to bed now!!

MammaInTheMaking · 10/11/2011 11:10

I saw the scan ellie and it's amazing!!!! The face is so clearly defined! How many weeks are you now?

trope it's called Blubes because when I was about 7 weeks my phone app said it was the size of a blueberry. I told DP and he just called it Blubes! I think it's cute too. I didn't think we'd give it a nickname but this has just stuck :)

Ah I see with the whole Brighton thing. Just a good central place for some of you :)

elliebug · 10/11/2011 13:38

Yay!!Grin Am glad it finally worked, I'm 12 weeks and a bit depending if you go by me or the scan!! We saw her? Wave and everything 20 weeks seems ages away, especially as it will be new year time (Christmas is still months off, isn't it?!)

Carlitawantsababy · 10/11/2011 16:29

ellie it'll go so quickly between now and 20 weeks, promise! Smile I'll have a look at the pic when I get home.
trope I hope we can meet up, would be lovely, just need to see how it goes. I'm very excited about the house being long term, the longest I've ever lived anywhere was 2.5 years so it'll be so nice to settle and do things like get nice curtains without thinking "what's the point, we'll be moving soon" I know you're in hove rather than Brighton, hove is lovely so yes, can imagine it's rather pricy for a family home! Grin

foolserrand · 10/11/2011 23:31

Ladies! Hello! Sorry I've been neglecting you all recently, just realised I've not posted in two weeks! Shocking. Just been so tired lately that I've gone to bed almost as soon as I've put the little one to sleep! Right, where to start catching up on so much chat? Hmmm.... this may be long, and disjointed. Hopefully it'll make sense!

Trope, you felt fuzzy move! Wooooooo! even better that your dp was there to share. :O But your builders sound nightmarish. Can't believe how lax they were about keeping you informed, let alone actually showing up. Then when they do show, they have the audacity to listen to shit music. What the actual fuck?! Angry on your behalf. That coat is very nice, I want one like that! May need to copy your plan there. Shame about the drama getting it to you, hopefully won't copy that bit! The cot is stunning too. Wish I could justify a bed nest, but its just not going to happen considering our extension will have started by the end of the month so we will be skint by Easter :(.

Very much with you (and everyone else who has said it) about the lack of maternity clothes. I have a budget to spend and can't find anything I like to blow it on. Have two pairs of jeans and one pair of smart black trousers. Wear them out then change into tracksuit bottoms the second I get home. All hail the elastic waist band!

Good news on the buggy. Sounds like you found your dream match. Just one question.... how tall is your dp? Sorry Dave Gorman had to come second to man flu. Is your dp better yet? Loving the cookies and pumpkin, esp the cookies!

Jeez, your blood test drama was a little unnecessary of them. Still, at least you're back with your consultant... and that you got such good results, obviously! Your tidings efforts are exhausting to read. Please don't let there be more or I risk not finishing this mammoth post.

Bun, thanks for sharing how to make that Christmas tree. It really is stunning, like everything else you've made! Took ds into the Christmas shop at the local garden centre today, he was in awe. Gasping at everything (especially the garish dancing karaoke Santa). He gets it this year and its truly magical. I'm so excited about this one and really want it to get here quickly! Don't blame you for wanting time to slow though, can't believe how far along you are! Don't blame you for staying home. We will be next year. May not even have a kitchen this year.Hmm

Can't believe your dp missed the time of your appointment, I bet he felt awful. Poor man! What are your neighbours getting done to need scaffolding outside your bedroom window Shock. That would drive me completely fucking batty, mainly because it would mean having to tidy the dumping ground I call a boudoir for once. Actually have to do that anyway tonight as some nasty biting thing hitch hiked back from the dog walk and is somewhere in there. It seems particularly fond of the back of my left thigh Angry. Having said that, you live next to a pub?! I would have killed for that a few years ago! Hope they have only lovely, considerate patrons who leave quietly and never disturb you!

Hurrah for the wee in the potty! Hope he is going from strength to strength with his new skill. We invented a potty dance and used magic stars or stickers as incentive. One for trying, 2 for a wee, 3 for a poo, that sort of thing. Is it odd that I love his choice of dinner? We just swapped ds's cot for a bed. Not woken up to a little face yet, he's still calling for mummy. Although tonight was the first time he hopped out to fix a toy when he was supposed to be going to sleep so we shall see! I fear we will regret our decision not to put a gate in his doorway, although I doubt anything more than the laser idea would keep my determined little monkey at bay! :o

You are the queen of eBay having just read your coat, clothes, pjs, books, bed covers wins. They are just amazing. Speaking of shopping, a very shocked ha ha to the woman in Tesco. You really do become public property, don't you! Had a woman dare to touch ds' foot in a supermarket after sneezing. I nearly killed. I may have still do suffered ever so slightly from pfb.

Davina, you poor thing with all that worrying. Hope all is sorted and well now. Am sure I will find out further down the thread. Am writing this on my phone, but referring to my ipod so I don't forget anyone or anything!

Ghost, glad your friend's birthday went well. Sorry you had a cold but :o you didn't have to dress up! Silver lining shone pretty brightly there :) Curse Debenhams for denying you your coat! I have lucked out short term and magically fit my horrible coat from last year. Thank you canine personal trainers! Lucky you having a carpenter fil who can make you a bed nest. They really are insane prices. Think I'll be using a bedside drawer! :o

Kayzr, sorry about the heartburn. Lucky you have gaviscon on prescription. Also sorry the heartburn has taken out ghost and trope.... and bun ouch for the piles too

Carlita, just spotted your catch up. Reeeeeeeeeally wishing I'd thought of that. A boy? Brilliant! So so happy for you! Love the names choices too. What's wrong with Angus Otto? I did skim your name thread a few days ago and squeaked with glee, but still only just found the strength to get on here. Sorry for being shit. How bloody dare your colleague?! Don't even know what to say/think about that, just awful.

Love the 10 year house plan. You have your home! Insanely jealous of your dream home being within reach. Hope you get a more reliable team than trope. No offence, trope!

Mamma, congratulations on the dating scan going well. Loving the pics of random fruits and veg everyone. The chicken was somewhat worrying though! Blubes is an awesome bump name, it is rather cute.

Ellie, congratulations on your scan too. Yes, keep your date! How dare they try to put you back 3 days?! Angry

Right, this has taken 6 hours on and off and more commitment than dh has ever seen but I'm done. Almost. Unless someone posted since I last refreshed, if so I may cry! We are also planning Christmas eve traditions, it really is so exciting this year. Ds keeps waking up and saying "happy Christmas mummy bat" - don't ask, I can't quite figure it out. Am also getting daily happy birthday wishes. He has decided he will be having a sister and she will be Tabitha. We are now ending week 16, but won't be seeing the midwife until next week. Stupid doctor's surgery. Still, the midwives there are rather great so I shall wait!

Dammit, had other things to say, but sodding shitty family guy in the background has distracted me and now I don't remember. Fuck it, off to bed. May remember tomorrow. Apologies to all for how disjointed this will almost certainly read, I am not proofing it, its too late!

BunMyOven · 11/11/2011 09:11

Grin fantastic catch up post! Grin
Nice to see you back, no need to apologise, I think if anybody understands the tiredness it's us lot! Smile

Your DS sounds adorable! I wish I got birthday and Christmas wishes everyday Sad Wink and "Mummy bat" is fantastic - whatever it means!!

The pub next door is a nice quiet place (apart from the odd karaoke night!) and we've not had any problems thank goodness. Our bedroom comes out further, in an L-shape to the pub with a window on the side facing the beer garden (and the sea ) so there was no way of them not being able to see in. The builders starting yesterday (some roof work and general maintenance) and thankfully they seem like a good lot and just get on with it, I've not seen anyone standing around on the scaffolding so don't feel too much like a goldfish at the moment.

Ellie lovely scan pic, congratulations again Smile

Trope finally some light at the end of the tunnel for you! Sounds like you're doing a great job sorting out inside the house too!

Sorry, I've missed out lots again am really tired but don't have Fools's determination for a proper catch up!

My hormones were awful yesterday, definitely the worst yet. I cried. Lots. For no particular reason. Was a complete mess and all I wanted to do was go for a nice long walk along the sea front with DS to clear my head but my pelvis was too bad and I only managed it to the Londis a few doors down to get DS some bananas and a comic book (guilt purchases) Sad Physio on Monday though.
Then, to top it off, I had the worst night's sleep I can remember last night. Dreamt that I was losing the baby which seemed to last ages and was so vivid that when I finally woke from it, it took a while to work out that it wasn't real. Obviously I then couldn't get it out of my head and laid there feeling rather cold and shaken. DS woke up a couple of times with bad dreams too so I had to go to him (was secretly glad to for the cuddles). Then I had to get up to be sick. Then, it seemed that just as I finally got back to sleep DP's alarm went off. Sigh.

Today will be a better day! Because, let's face it, it'd be hard to get any worse...
Am going to attempt to make some homemade play dough with DS, do some Christmas cards and just generally feel a bit less like a shit mum. Time to turn off CBeebies, I think I'm developing a crush for Chris Jarvis from 'Show Me, Show Me' along with Mr Bloom Confused

MammaInTheMaking · 11/11/2011 13:24

You poor thing Bun what a horrid night. I also had a dream last night i was bleeding but it was just a short dream and then morphed into something else so i only remembered it a couple of hours ago. I hope it's a much better sleep tonight and also your day has been pain-free?

fools i think being called Mummy Bat has to be one of the cutest things ever! aawwwwwww!

foolserrand · 11/11/2011 14:34

Gawd, those dreams sound rotten. Mine was only that I was missing a tooth!

Bun, well done for getting in lots of cuddles during the night, you just need them sometimes. Having one with my sleeping monkey now in fact! So very sorry you're suffering with the pgp too. Some of those comics are fab though. We get them occasionally, the something special one is usually pretty fun.

Don't blame you for Chris even if he's a bit too camp to be sexy but Mr Bloom?! Oh dear! My secret shame is Sid. His smile, confidence and body.... hmmm....

I digress. Remembered the not at all interesting bits that brain rotting cartoon made me forget last night. Ds is now in a big boy bed. Kept him in a cot far too long I fear, but want to get him a mid sleeper next year so he needs to get used to a bar free life. Amazingly, he's not fallen out yet! And I am desperate for Corona and liking the smell of cigarettes. I'm appalled with myself!

Um.... nope.... its gone. Can you tell I'm a wee bit forgetful at the moment?! :o

JugglingWithGoldandMyrhh · 11/11/2011 14:42

Hi Carlita

  • I was just randomly surfing MN when I saw your baby is due 23rd March. That's the same due date I was given for DD ( she's now 12 ! ) But she didn't arrive until the 1st April. Always think we should have called her April at least for a second name, but we stuck with what we'd already chosen.
Ten days late - I think she was quite happy in there ! Smile
Carlitawantsababy · 11/11/2011 21:08

Hi fools good catch up! Love mummy bat, so, so cute Grin
Hi juggling I love the name April! I'm guessing mine will be late too, being my first. It's a boy though so wouldn't get away with April! There are 3 of us on the brewing a march baby thread with that due date, plus one friend in RL, clearly it's a good 'un! Grin

foolserrand · 11/11/2011 23:20

I have had the best evening EVER! I made a hydrogen bomb using a balloon, a candle and singer chemicals that shall remain nameless! And.... I got paid to do this. And.... I got to do this whilst torturing angsty teens! :o

So, who is jealous of my job right now? Granted I worked on a Friday night (finished at 9) and missed bedtime :( but I have been paid through the nose for this and have never done an evening show before.

I'm also covered in more glitter than a grown woman should be, but that's ok! Dh won't come near me, he loathed glitter and is grumping about the state of me!

Right, am off to sleep before I finish coming down from the adrenaline high that is my science show.

As an aside, I can also share how to make a flame thrower with easy to find household items. :o

Yeah, I'm buzzing. Sorry. Pretend I was never here!

JugglingWithGoldandMyrhh · 12/11/2011 09:40

Hi Carlita - yeh, it's definitely a good 'un. Also a lovely time of year to have your first baby with the chance for lots of nice meet-ups with your new Mummy and baby friends in the park or at each others houses. Join everything that's going - I went to two ante-natal classes, a post-natal group run by the HV's, and an exercise class, oh yes and aqua-natal and yoga classes ! But the groups were wonderful for getting to know other Mums-to-be to meet up with when everyone on some sort of maternity leave. Spring is a wonderful time of year for babies - especially your first !

Kayzr · 12/11/2011 09:46

Hi.

Sorry I haven't been posting. Been feeling very sick.

I've got an emergency scan today after bleeding yesterday. Sad

Hope you're all ok. Smile

JugglingWithGoldandMyrhh · 12/11/2011 10:57

Thinking of you Kayzr

ghosteditor · 12/11/2011 14:05

kayzr hugs and hope all's ok; let us know how you get on with the scan today.

I had a very busy and long day yesterday - was lovely but I feel exhausted today. I met an old college friend yesterday - she has a ten month old who was born at 33 weeks and is doing fine - but scary stuff to hear at 31 weeks!

We did a massive shop at the kiddicare store yesterday so we're now actually in a position where we could cope ok if we brought the baby home - feels good! Smile

Kayzr · 12/11/2011 17:06

All is fine!! Baby's heart was beating away Grin

I've had the due date put back 5 days but I don't mind that.

JugglingWithGoldandMyrhh · 12/11/2011 17:40

That's good news Kayzr, thanks for posting.
