Hooray for the pop trope I'm sure my belly button is becoming more shallow too, unless it's just wishful thinking, I was very disappointed to find out last week that not everyone gets an outie; I really want one! Grin
Today one of my colleagues was asking me about my pain etc. and told me my bump was "too big" Angry and that at 5 months I should be just starting to show! Angry I informed her that my baby is a perfectly normal size and that different women's bumps grow at different rates but it really annoyed me! The wee man is on the larger side of average at the 75th percentile but he's hardly "too big" and if that's the size of the bump he wants to live in that's fine, it's solid and I'm unmistakably pregnant so it's not just the biscuits! Grin

Hi all! Hope everyone's had a nice weekend.

Hi Ellie! Nice to see you back! Smile Good luck with the scan tomorrow, very exciting! Hope your energy levels start picking up soon - I know the feeling!

Carlita LOVE both names! Especially Angus Smile (can't believe I've not seen one name suggestion I don't like on this thread yet - good work ladies!)

I hate all the comments people think they have the right to make once you're pregnant - it's like you become public property Grin It's nice that people take an interest but there's a limit! Reminds me of the woman in a queue in Tesco who asked me if I had to have stitches after giving birth to DS (a few days old at the time) - no perfect stranger, I do not wish to discuss with you the condition of my vagina! Confused

Trope those builders are something else! Shock

Aw sorry your DP is away, it really is rubbish Sad Even though DP and I spent so much time apart in the first few years of being together, I still hate it! Lots of texts/calls/Skype/emails was how we dealt with it, so many that we spoke more than when we're together! Grin

Woohoo for your popped belly! Grin
I thought I was going to get away with not getting an outy belly button with DS (I have a stupidly deep one - half my little finger deep :P ), it turned into a stupid little competition with myself. But, at a week overdue, out it popped Sad It's not looking too promising this time either!

My clothes arrived today at last - am very happy! Couldn't believe it when I was going through the maternity/nursing pyjamas, they're all in perfect condition like they've never been worn, 9 pairs for £18! Shock Must be dodgy Grin
Have everything to make DS's stocking now too. Cut out the fabrics over the weekend and tonight will me my first ever attempt at embroidery! Confused

BunMyOven · 07/11/2011 18:09

Wow. I do like my smileys don't I?! Blush

Carlitawantsababy · 07/11/2011 19:09

bun Shock at that woman in the supermarket! That goes well beyond taking an interest!
Grin well done on all the pj purchases! I need to get some but haven't found any bargains as yet, not even on eBay!
Very quiet around here, everyone got better things to be doing?

Carlitawantsababy · 07/11/2011 19:39

Oh and by the way in case any of you are wondering, my physio said I'm not particularly big for 20 weeks, I said I was surprised as a few people had said I was and she said I'm a perfectly normal size. (still Angry)

OP posts:
trope · 07/11/2011 19:54

well I just got my drains checked (and no, that isn't a euphemism! Wink) as part of the "where the jeff did the bloody rat come from" investigations (nothing to be found, bar lots of stones in the drain blocking it). I have also bought several plastic storage boxes and filled them with old PC and megadrive games to go in the loft (no hope of getting rid, DP doesn't do getting rid of games, ever!), brought 100+ copies of Edge (gaming mag) downstairs to ebay, posted some stuff I sold on ebay and bought soya milk. My day is a riot of fun and excitement! Wink

I am just gobsmacked at your rude colleague carlita what a cow!! Where on earth did she get the idea she had any right to say something like that?! Some people are just awful! And bun [shocked] at the lady in Tesco's - I'd have been tempted to offer to show her, just to see her face!

Spoke to DP this morning after posting and discovered that he's in some sort of wanky hipster hotel; it's noisy (there's a nightclub downstairs and the floors upstairs are all wooden!), there's 6 hangers in a cupboard for clothes and no where else to put anything and the internet doesn't work properly; so we can't skype! :( He's asking to be moved to a more appropriate hotel asap! Preferably somewhere that doesn't react with shock and disbelief when told that he's there for 2 weeks (i.e. a business hotel, rather than somewhere people go to get pissed and shag for a weekend!) Not the best start to his trip! Still, it was lovely to hear his voice. One night down, 12 to go!

Hurrah for the PJs bun they sound great! Good luck with the first attempt at the stocking! I'm planning on fixing our leaky wheaty bags in the next few days, haven't sewn anything for a year or so and can't even remember how to thread the machine! Will be getting the manual out for sure!!

I got some maternity cords/trousers off ebay, not having the best hit rate so far though; two pairs too small (they said they were 10s, they are more like 8s though - really small) and one pair about the right size, but too low cut at the back - they constantly fall down :( Still, at least I have something to wear, even if I am seriously considering buying some braces to hold them up! Wink

Anyway - back off up to DPs office to continue with the monster pre-fuzzy clear out! I'm determined to get the house decluttered and tidy before DP gets back, if nothing else keeping busy will make the 2 weeks pass more quickly! Grin

p.s. Bun if you feel bad about your smiley usage, you should take note of my horrendous exclamation mark habit! I have to go back over everything I write and remove at least half of all the exclamation marks otherwise pretty much every sentence would end in one! It makes me look like i'm shouting everything, or am one of those chronically over excited people that drive everyone nuts with their excessive bouncyness! (Whereas really I'm a right miserable old cow! Wink)

trope · 07/11/2011 19:59

carlita any time I get a bit wobbly about whether my bump is "normal" I do a google image search on baby bump + however many weeks gone I am! The massive variation in size and shape of bumps is hugely reassuring! There really is no "normal" as everyone's body is different! So long as the baby and you are healthy, who gives a toss! I'm a bit of a stroppy cow so if someone made such a horrid comment to me i'd be liable to absolutely rip their head off - have a proper go about how they aren't medically trained and who the hell do they think they are to make such an unhelpful and judgemental comment - they certainly wouldn't do it twice! Wink Don't let anyone make you feel bad about your bump - i'm sure it's just perfect and Angus/Otto is very happy indeed in there! Grin

Carlitawantsababy · 07/11/2011 20:35

Thanks trope! I did the google images search a few weeks back and yes, huge variation! Some barely there and others bigger than mine. I'm actually loving being so noticeably pregnant and am very fond of my bump and, as you say, I'm sure my little boy is very happy in there, just annoying that people think it's alright to make comments like that. Would've flipped at some people but she's one of my deputies and very hard working so kept it as calm as I could. Don't think she'll say it again! Grin very impressed with your tidying today! Smile

ghosteditor · 08/11/2011 09:47

Shock carlita I would have been tempted to give your colleague a properly scathing look and ask if she preaches that kind of ignorance everywhere she goes, or if it's just with you. Unless she has taken a tape measure to your bump then what on earth does she know???? I do actually have a bit of bump rage at the moment, having been told very similar things myself, when I was measuring exactly on track for my bump & dates. Of course now I am actually measuring +2cm so perhaps I need to wind my neck in a bit!

Yesterday pamplemousse was executing a 43 point turn in my belly and I spent some of the evening with a very asymmetric bump - it was several centimeters higher (when lying down) on the left hand side. Like there was an alien trying to get out Grin We were most amused...

MammaInTheMaking · 08/11/2011 11:12

Dating scan tomorrow, i'm so scared....

trope · 08/11/2011 11:26

mamma good luck, try not to worry! There's no reason to think that anything has gone wrong - but i'll keep my fingers crossed for you just in case! :)

ghost Grin at your wonky bump! That sounds brilliant (if a tad uncomfortable!)

So the builders turned up today; the one day this week with rain forecast! Go figure! Confused I'd heard the rain when the alarm went off and decided as DP was away I had no need to get up at half six so I'd have a lie in. Builders turned up at 8.15am!! (they've never arrived before 9.30am before) Cue me in my PJs with my hair all mussed up answering the door looking most out of it - they could barely contain their laughter at the state I was in!! Still, they are doing the render around the downstairs window/front door, as it's only very light misty rain and this means they have a good chance of getting the entire front wall done tomorrow (they have to do the wall in one go otherwise you get big lines where the bits done at different times join up). 3 days of dry warm (for november) weather ahead of us from tomorrow, so with any luck the work will be finished by the end of the week and I can get back to something resembling normality! Hurrah! Just need DP back from NY and life will be lovely again! Grin

ghosteditor · 08/11/2011 16:52

good luck tomorrow mamma!

trope did the builders get anything done or did they just stand around drinking tea and tutting at the weather?

more freakish bump permutations today.... maybe there's an octo-baby in there. It looks and feels like the baby is trying to break out! Less than 10 weeks to go in theory so the baby still has a lot of growing to do!

elliebug · 08/11/2011 17:06

good luck tomorrow mamma i had my scan today, was a bit worried as who knows what could have been in there!!! luckily it was a wriggly baby (only 1 phew) i'm sure you will be fine, will be thinking of you.
they dated me at 12+1, i thought i was 12+4 so as the scan can be out by =/-5 days i'm sticking to my date!!
good luck with the builders trope!!

Carlitawantsababy · 08/11/2011 18:54

Congratulations ellie! Grin fab news! How was it? Did you get to see the baby much? Did you cry or laugh or? do you have a pic to post? I must post 20 week pic thinking about it!
Good luck for tomorrow mamma can't wait to hear all about it!
trope those bloody builders! I hate it when that happens! Blush
ghost wow, sounds very cool with your bump! My sister's is mostly lopsided (now 34 weeks with twins) and they do funny things like if the bath water is too hot climb on top of each other so she ends up with a peak instead of a bump! Mine started new movements today, I got what felt like a horizontal 360 twice today, totally amazing! Grin

OP posts:
elliebug · 08/11/2011 19:19

ok, have worked out how to put a photo up, have only made it available to mumsnet friends though so if you want to request me feel free, didnt want just anyone seeing itShock!!!
saw the baby do lots, it was really wriggly and the lady who did the scan knew my OH from when he was at school so we got extra pictures :O i did have a little cry when i saw there was actually a baby in there but she had to press REALLY hard so that distracted me a bit!! i'm looking forward to a proper bump as i just feel fat ATM!!

Carlitawantsababy · 08/11/2011 19:32

Aw, that's great news ellie how lovely! Cool to get some extra pictures too! I've no idea how to friend people but will have a look on laptop soon!
Just had fab news, our offer on the house has been accepted so we have 28 days from today to exchange! Grin

Carlitawantsababy · 08/11/2011 21:38

Just been on the laptop and oddly I can't even click on your name ellie?! When I hover on my name or on trope's for example, it underlines and I can click on it but doesn't work on yours! Odd...

OP posts:
elliebug · 08/11/2011 21:47

Ugh, when I'm on my pc I'll just change it to open!

trope · 09/11/2011 08:57

Morning!

ghost they got the areas around the windows and doors done thankfully, plus lots of tutting at the weather! They were due at 8am today so they had plenty of time before it gets dark to do the entire front wall. So I got up, and showered and dressed and ready for their arrival and are they here? Are they fuck! Confused I'm getting really incredibly fed up now, it's dry out (we even had sunshine earlier) and I just want the work finished :( Giving them till 9.30am then phoning the boss to ask wtf is going on.

I quite like the idea of "octo baby" - that sounds rather cute (although the birth could be interesting! Wink)

ellie Congratulations on the scan - fantastic news! Would love to see the scan pics too! I think you need to put your profile open so that MN friends can see your photos (I could be wrong). People who aren't your MN friends won't be able to see the photos - it'll just say there are no public photos for them.

Carlita love the stackings twins!! That's so funny!! The horizontal 360 sounds fun - can't wait to feel that much clear movement myself! Have felt some definite kick type sensations, but only say once or twice a day, when I'm sat down. Afterwards it's like I dreamed it - it seems so unreal! Will be lovely when it's more constant!

Congratulations on the house - that was fast!! What did you go for in the end - renovation project, or family home? Presumably you're looking to move in before xmas then? If you do, you should really come along to Brighton for a day for xmas shopping - the lanes are so beautiful after dark - they have such lovely lights up! (And you, me & Bun could all meet up!)

I actually made some really good progress yesterday - have my mountain of books (& stationery - am a huge stationery nerd) all moved over to the bookcases in DP's office. We both have our books stacked 2 rows deep now, which isn't ideal, but fuzzy's room is starting to properly empty out now! Am hoping I can get it completely clear before DP gets back from NY! Then we can have fun decorating it together! Grin We have the 20 week scan 4 days after he gets back too - so we can think about personalising the room properly too (not so much blue vs pink, more things like this for the door etc!)

Mamma Good luck for your scan today - I hope you get a good long look at your baby! It's really the most amazing thing getting to see them for the first time! I've cried a little bit at every scan so far (and I'm not normally a weepy kind of person!)

trope · 09/11/2011 09:18

woo! They have arrived! Their alarm didn't go off... Wink Still, they are here now! Just think Carlita - if you've picked option a) renovation project, you have all this to look forward to! Wink

MammaInTheMaking · 09/11/2011 10:58

I REALLY AM PREGNANT!!!!!!! Oh wow this relief is indescribable!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got 2 pics of Blubes (have I said that's our name for it?) and the heart was beating and we're 9+2 so only 3 days off what I thought. Just can't believe there really is something in there because I've not felt bad at all, just knackered. I really can believe this is happening now. Thanks everyone for reassuring me yesterday, and now I'm properly going to join in on this thread. GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

ghosteditor · 09/11/2011 11:59

YEYS!!! Really happy for you Grin

elliebug · 09/11/2011 16:33

Woop Woop Grin

Carlitawantsababy · 09/11/2011 16:45

Fab news mamma GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinthat's made my day! Bet it was fab to see your little one. Do you get another scan in a few weeks then? Due at the end of June? Hopefully in time for a glorious summer! Grin
trope we went for a 3rd option in the end, it's a definite project, the whole place needs re doing but it is so perfect so my mum has agreed to make it a 10 year investment. So we will either sell in 10 years or Remortgage if we want to stay there an give my mum her money back. Should be lots o fun as we actually have a renovation budget so can get it all done in the first few months of being there then have a house that's exactly as we want it, it's dream like really! Grin
I know Brighton pretty well, I love the lanes for shopping looking in windows and it is so beautiful that time of year. I'd also love to meet up with you and bun but will have to see how the PGP is by then, I'm not very mobile at the moment so having to keep fun things like that to an absolute minimum. (I'm a total bore) Smile
