Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
foolserrand · 12/11/2011 17:53

Kayzr.... thank god all is ok! A due date is only ever an estimate, isn't it? The little trouble makers rarely come on time anyway! Bet there was nothing better than hearing baby's heart beating strong. So very relieved for you.

Ghost.... rest woman! You and your energy exhausts me and makes me look really bad

Davinaaddict · 12/11/2011 21:34

I'm finally back! Have been trying to catch up about a week now and keep getting interrupted grrr! Hope everyone is well - will now start the long read to catch up with everyone Grin Only 3 pages to go (plus the half that I missed before my last post] - times like this I could do with a Wine

Davinaaddict · 12/11/2011 22:39

Ok ? all read! Ok that was 5 pages!!!! We do all talk a lot, so I?m just going to catch up with the main headlines, otherwise I?ll be creating another 5 pages with one post Grin

Trope ? so glad everything is all well with you after that horrid scare. AM Blush that I missed it last time. Yay for fuzzy moves! And for bump ?popping? Grin I didn?t get a proper outy last time but seeing as my button is now the same position as it was at full term last time, I think I?ll be in danger of poking small children in the eye in another few weeks Confused

Bun ? with you on the piles front Blush Horrid isn?t it! Will have to try Carlita?s tip for preparation H wipes (but make sure I buy them whilst in disguise to save the embarrassment Grin)

Yay for the boy Carlita!! Boys are amazing Grin Otto & Angus are lovely names too.

Congrats on the scans elliebug & Mamma!!! Yours is lovely ellie! Mamma, we need to see more cuteness please Smile

Glad I?m not the only one having weird dreams ? Friday night I dreamed I was Amy Pond (don?t ask ? I?ve no idea except we?re both redheads!), and last night I dreamed that I had the baby at 23 weeks, but that when baby appeared she/he (cant remember which & I don?t know!) was full term-size (which was a huge relieve but a bit of a puzzle). Then I was at work the following day and everyone was asking me when was I due, to which I answered, actually I had the baby yesterday, but I?ve just got to lose the baby weight Confused That one did freak me out a bit!

Fools ? the science show sounds amazing! Very Envy

Really glad everything is ok Kayzr ? looking at some of the history of this thread, we all seem to have had worries at some point or another. It?s quite comforting to know that I?m not alone, and that these slight worries are normal, but not good for those of us that have to go through it, of course.

So quick update from me ? BP is back to normal (yay!), and generally feeling better, although a trip to Birmingham on Thursday wiped me out on Friday. I think I?m going to have to stop my travel pretty soon, as it makes me no good for anything the next day. Got a long week this week though as I?m in London 3 days (although only 1 journey). But on the plus side, my sisters coming to bunk up in my hotel room both nights so I?ll have some company and she?s treating my to go see Wicked on Wednesday night ? cant wait! Not much more to share at the moment (luckily, I hear you all cry Grin), as work is really busy, so all I do is work and sleep, with a bit of family time in between if I?m lucky. Off to bed now to try catch up on some more kip zzzzz

Ooh - although I did get a gorgeous Xmas dress - www.asos.com/ASOS/ASOS-MATERNITY-Katie-Lace-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=1768146&cid=5813&sh=0&pge=4&pgesize=20&sort=-1&clr=Teal

Hope the link works! (Sorry for any typos/spelling errors - too tired to proof read properly!)

Carlitawantsababy · 13/11/2011 08:43

Yay! davina so glad you're back! Grin what a freaky dream, sounds like the type I have where you explain and justify all the weird stuff in the dream and make it seem more real! Boo that work is so busy, any sign of it easing off anytime soon? Fab that you're going to see wicked, I know lots of people who have seen it and say it's brilliant so sure you and your sis will have a great time!
That dress is absolutely gorgeous! What is the boobage allowance in it? I can't remember whether you were one of the particularly endowed on the thread from our discussion some time ago. It is so limiting for dresses though that I tend not to buy them online; I love that one! Grin
Thanks for all the lovely feedback re names, we haven't told anyone in RL as just want to make our own decision without taking everyone's opinions into account! fools I think it was you who suggested Angus Otto? Nothing wrong there at all but don't want to use both at once as feel we'll probably have more boys! Grin

kayzr so glad everything is okay! That must've been so scary!

OP posts:
Davinaaddict · 13/11/2011 10:49

Hoping work will ease off soon - we're supposed to be a team of 3 but it's only been me for a couple of months. And no one else has lasted more than a few months in the job so far Confused. But we've a couple of newbies now, one started on 1st November & the other starts on the 1st December so hopefully once we've sorted out how the team's going to work, it will get easier.

The boobage allowance is quite good actually as the dress is really stretchy. I'm not one of the well endowed ladies particularly, but last time I tried to measure myself I was coming up about a 36 H so not sure that's right (normally a 34C/D!!) Might have to go shopping & try some bras on, as all mine from last time had a lot of wear (bf for a year) and I think are a bit too stretched out!

Like the idea of more boys Carlita Grin

Carlitawantsababy · 13/11/2011 12:54

Awesome davina, in that case I think that may be my Christmas dress!! Grin

OP posts:
ghosteditor · 14/11/2011 12:48

hey ladies, have been away all weekend so I haven't caught up as well as I should have done - forgive me for the me-me-me post!

I've just been for my 31 week check up and my blood pressure is still too high, so I'm being rechecked tomorrow. Plus, the baby is still transverse (and likes it that way - has been for weeks) which needs to be resolved by 35 weeks otherwise they'll start making ELCS plans for me, which is absolutely not what I want. I need to start doing some exercises, and maybe some swimming, to encourage the baby to move into a head-down position. Any advice from anyone here?

So all the times you told me to slow down and not cram so much stuff in - you were right! Must resolve to take more time to relax...

foolserrand · 14/11/2011 12:51

Hello all, happy Monday lunchtime! I'm having a painfully hormonal day today. Very weepy. Buggy has a flat and ds has had a bad morning, a rarity for him, so that hasn't helped!

Davina, I'm mad at you. Bought two flipping dresses now from that site! Now planning more shopping. You bad influence, you! By the way, the dress you have is incredibly beautiful. Wish I had a reason to wear that!

Carlitawantsababy · 14/11/2011 14:14

Oh fools, Sad sorry you're having a bad day. More shopping might fix it?Grin
ghost swimming definitely the key from what I've heard, need to go 2/3 times per week. Worked for a friend of mine anyway! You could try visualising the baby turning whilst you swim, hippy yes but can't hurt?! Most importantly, don't blame yourself! Not your fault at all! Smile

OP posts:
MammaInTheMaking · 14/11/2011 14:35

Just popping by to say hello. Nought much to say or advice to give really because Blubes is still teeny. But as of today it's the size of a strawberry (10 weeks)! I have my booking in appointment on Wednesday so hope it can be full steam ahead after that.

Davina your work sounds so full on. How are they going to cope when you leave??

Ghost, very envious of you having bought loads of baby things. Super exciting. Have you got them on order or are they home already? We're getting the room decorated. Just picked the colour. Surprise surprise it's yellow!

ghosteditor · 14/11/2011 14:36

thanks carlita I'll have to start swimming, then! Not sure how I'm going to fit it in around everything else but definitely worth making the effort. Interestingly it could sort of be my fault because I have slightly rubbish biomechanics and hypermobility - it sounds like this could be a factor as it affects the shape of the uterus and hence how the baby likes to lie. Also, the baby has probably inherited some of its contrariness from me Wink But I'm kidding, I know there's nothing I can do, and of course there's still chance for the baby to turn...

foolserrand · 14/11/2011 14:37

:o Don't mind me, Carlita! Just hormones and some bad luck today. I'll live! This afternoon is a whole new chance and it will be good even if i did just put every pair of trousers i own in the wash prior to going to the supermarket!

ghost, when I was pregnant with ds, his favourite place was under my ribs. With a little pressure you can move them. Not sure if this would work for a breech baby, but I have heard you can turn them. Try everything! (Yes, I know I'm not helpful). Sorry about your bp. Is it normally high? I suggest a bubble bath, some relaxing music and a face mask.

ghosteditor · 14/11/2011 14:38

mamma we went to the kiddicare warehouse on Friday and spent hundreds of pounds (we've been saving for months) and then on Sunday some wonderful friends loaned us a pram (silver cross no less!), a sling, a baby bath, and a few other bits and pieces. We bought the cot second hand (a Stokke Sleepi) and FIL is making us a bednest, so we're well on the way. And the house is FULL of baby stuff! Especially the pram, it's giant....

ghosteditor · 14/11/2011 14:40

Blush I keep xposting! Thanks fools - hope you have a better day too.

actually my BP has been consistently elevated throughout, or at least, my very first reading was high and it's been up and down since. I do know that my blood pressure wasn't high before though as I was tested while on the pill and I think when I had asthma clinic. More pregnancy oddness I suppose.

trope · 15/11/2011 10:10

Ah rats I've got behind again!!

First of all that was one hell of a catch up - impressive!! Grin

Fools DP is 6'2" (and i'm 5'3"!!) but he's pretty slim and has spiky short hair so he looks taller than he is! Photo does make him look like some kind of lanky giant though! Grin

How exciting that your DS understands xmas this year - I've always thought xmas with excitable kids was so much more fun than an adults only xmas! Can't wait till fuzzy can enjoy xmas with us!! Love "happy christmas mummy bat" - that's brilliant!! I wonder where he got the mummy bat bit from!! Grin

Your science show sounds amazing!! You do indeed have a damned awesome job!! Grin

Davina wow to the dress! I'm getting the feeling that I'm very much the scruff of the thread!! I've bought a little black maternity dress for DPs xmas party, but it was 2nd hand off ebay and no where near as fancy as the Asos one!!

Glad your BP is normal again now - really good news!

ghost so sorry your having problems with your blood pressure/the baby's position. Hope the exercises etc help! Definitely a good idea to take things a bit slower now if you can!

Much as I like the cot we got - I had a proper twinge of jealously at your stokke sleepi - they are lovely!

mamma ooh - strawberry sized! That's so exciting! I love all the fruity comparisons! Grin

Well... the builders are still here... But today they should finish the job, bar some touching up when the scaffolding comes down (some of the poles are touching the house so they can't paint those bits). It may have taken bloody forever but happily it is at least looking really good! They are putting the final coats on the front and back walls, painting the porch (well, concrete overhang bit over the front door) and doing the final gloss coat on the soffits! Exciting! I'm getting a lot of nonsense about it taking weeks to take down the scaffold, but the fact that i'm refusing to pay until it's down (and the final painting is done as mentioned above) seems to be having a positive effect on the timescale! Bloody builders!! I cannot wait to be shot of them - feel like a goldfish in a bowl with them working around the windows all day!

De-cluttering has ground to a halt rather, my arthritis has had a go at where my upper ribs meet my sternum, leaving me rather breathless and sore, so i've been taking things a bit easier. It's mostly better now though, so am hoping to get back to things tomorrow for a final house cleaning/tidying push before DP gets home on Saturday night! 4 more nights and he's home - I can't wait! Grin

Fuzzy is wriggling around lots some days now, with some very definite kicks at times (that actually are almost painful in some spots!) Bump seems to have stopped growing again, but i'm sure i'll end up huge so i'm not complaining! Trying to make the most of my body still mostly functioning as it should!! I am finding it hard to bend over though, to pick stuff up from the floor, or from the back of low cupboards! Despite not being huge, bump seems to really get in the way!

I weighed myself yesterday and found that I've dropped a few pounds these last few weeks, despite eating really well. I don't generally bother to weigh myself much, so long as I feel healthy and happy with my size, my actual weight is generally irrelevant to me, but now i'm pregnant I'm trying to remember to keep some track of it, just to be careful of dropping weight while my body is feeding fuzzy! (I lose weight really easily because of the IBD). I've got my 20 week scan a week tomorrow, so will get to check that fuzzy is the right size and growing OK. Fingers crossed! I'm not worried, but will be glad of the reassurance, if that makes sense?

I've not had horrid dreams like some of you have (they sound really awful! :( ) but I am having weird, nonsensical dreams a lot. Monday night I barely slept as I kept waking up and couldn't get comfortable, so yesterday I dived out to mothercare before it shut and got one of those sausage like pregnancy pillows which helped a bit - slept a bit better last night! Right pain having to move it everytime I turn over though - going to be weird to have me, DP and the floppy sausage pillow all sharing a bed! Wink Perhaps I should stick a photo of DP on it while he's away!! Wink

trope · 15/11/2011 10:16

you know, the problem with not working in an office and spending 90% of your days alone (bar the builders) is that it's far too easy to get the days messed up!

So to correct - Sunday night I slept really badly, so yesterday I went out to mothercare for a pillow and slept better last night - which was Monday night!

ghosteditor · 15/11/2011 10:50

trope ouch on the arthritic rib front, that must be horrid, poor you. Hope it's just a flare up and it goes down again...

Carlitawantsababy · 15/11/2011 15:50

trope you are definitely the winner of 'highest number of epic posts' it is impressive! Sorry to hear you're not well but glad to hear DP will be home to look after you soon and that fuzzy is moving around lots for you! Grin

OP posts:
Carlitawantsababy · 16/11/2011 22:20

Heelllloooooo????!!!!!???? Anybody there? Grin I meant epic posts in a very good way, not a bad way...did I kill the thread?!

OP posts:
trope · 16/11/2011 23:17

hey - thread isn't dead i'm sure! :) I knew what you meant - no offence taken! Had friends here all day yesterday so wasn't online a whole lot!

Thanks ghost it's definitely on the mend, is nearly all better now thankfully! Grin

So (drum roll please!) the builders have finished!!! Well, kinda... They can't finish the painting fully till the scaffold is down as some of the poles are touching the house, but all the coats of paint are on the rest and it's looking really good! They were trying to get me to pay yesterday, but I refused and insisted they get the scaffold down and the painting finished first; only leverage I've got to get the scaffold down! It'll be here all winter as free storage for the scaffold company otherwise! But no daily waiting in for the builders - no more feeling like a goldfish in a bowl with painters hanging around by the windows -the scaffold should be down by the middle of next week (i'm pushing for sooner!) and then I'M FREE! YAY! Grin

Today was a bit shit though - I do an injection of my meds once a fortnight and you have to do it into fatty tissue as otherwise it really really really hurts. I've always done it into my tummy but with bump growing I'd planned on stopping as there isn't really enough fat left there to pinch a good big inch! The only place I've got fat left is my butt (and I know i'm not going to get any sympathy for being a touch slim! Wink) - and with DP away there's no way I can inject myself there! So I had to try and pinch enough flab at the side of my stomach out where you get love handles by the hip; hurt like hell :( In theory I can go up the hospital and get the specialist nurse to do it, and my consultant offered to do it for me as well, but my meds have to be kept in the fridge (if they warm up they stop working) and I didn't want to risk getting stuck on the bus, or in the waiting room and have the meds warm up and not work properly - I really need them this week. Anyway, it's done now, another 2 weeks till I need to think about it again! In the meantime though i'm all spaced out - the meds make my head pretty fuzzy (so apologies for the waffly badly written post) and as i'm knackered it's ten times worse than usual! So i'm off to bed! Only 3 more sleeps till DP comes home.

Will post properly tomorrow - I promise to be in a better mood and will hopefully make a bit more sense!!

foolserrand · 17/11/2011 07:54

Morning morning morning! Carlita, you silly, nothing could kill this thread! I'm just popping on to wave manically. I'm a touch excited! Had my 17 week (stupid doctor) midwife appt yesterday. Bloody woman checked twice I only had one in there. I do. Other than being large, apparently, all is good.

Can't stay and chat, I'm off to pick my best friend (I am fully aware I sound about 12 there, but I love her right now!) up because she got us tickets to the ideal Christmas homeshow! squee! My nails have been painted silver and sparkly especially. Will be on to catch up very soon!

Glad you feel better Trope and that the scaffolding will be down soon. Sorry about the injection, want some of my chub? Seem to have gained a lot recently. [grr]

Carlitawantsababy · 17/11/2011 08:19

Grin hooray trope! Sounds awesome! Did you take 'before' pics of the house? Bet it looks gorgeous now!You must've raised the value too, pebbledash can be a little off putting can't it? Very happy you've got your life back to normal and just in time for DP's return too! Do you have anything printable special planned for his return? Grin Good on you for withholding payment, you're right, it's the only way to make sure jobs get finished. I must remember this when getting works done on the new place! We have the indoor equivalent of pebbledash to deal with first - artex! At least no scaffolding is needed though! Your injection sounds sore! Sad I used to have a skinny bum too but it has filled out considerably over the last 6 weeks or so, DH delighted! My thighs are not such a delight, used to be my beat feature, now wobbly and unremarkable! Have read they are both breastfeeding stores though so hey ho!
fools is your bump big or your baby or both? I tell you, if one more smug looking shitface person asks me if I'm sure it's just one I will not be held responsible for my actions! So Envy over the Christmas show! How exciting! My sister and I are off to the theatre this evening to see legally blonde the musical! Grin should be wonderfully cheesy, can't wait- live action chick flick! It'll be the last time for a while too as she's now 35.5 weeks with her twins! Smile Back to getting in the festive spirit like fools, anyone planning on seeing Arthur Christmas? I got goosepimples watching the trailer! Grin
