Hope you are all well this morning

Chip Congratulations to you and DH. Hope you are recovering well and Sylvie-Rose (lovely name) is thriving. When you're feeling up to it we would all love to hear your story.

Yesterday I went out and bought some breast pads and arnica tablets (found these helped the healing process for stiches/bruising). Also had baths with lavendar oil which was bliss. Will be more of a challenge this time for 'me' time as will have toddler and newborn to contend with. Sigh.

kate393 · 20/08/2011 10:57

chip wow! Congratulations! Hope you're all doing well recovering...what a beautiful name

PamSco · 20/08/2011 11:01

What is the protocol on MN - do we update the stats thread or start a new births thread? I'm still blown away that our wee ones are arriving!

I'm with you lk time to get organised.

mash you sound in the same situation as me - baby's room is a study at the moment and I'm waiting on a new bathroom, cloakroom and utility. Haven't had time to prepare for the baby yet but it looks like we really should!

Folicacid · 20/08/2011 12:25

mash pooky pup I'm in same boat too.

This week I typed up a completely manic looking very useful room by room list for us with spaces to tick when complete and who is leading on individual tasks yes really Blush I wanted to to help us focus and not get overwhelmed or complacent The baby's room needs the most work. I am not a list makwer type but I seem to have been gripped by some kind of mania this week. We're off out just now to get on with a few of the tasks.

Chip having her baby girl has sharpened my mind even further.

I've got none of the big stuff at all, despite obsesively being online for most of the second trimester. I did however buy cheap primark big pants 3 sizes too big for the hospital bag whilst on holiday last week. I didn't buy any nighties though that open up at neck or whatever it is I need. Not sure why didn't just get them as I'm in a primark once every three years or so. Gah.

Folicacid · 20/08/2011 12:34

Pam I think from what I can see we would do a birth announcements thread? Then after we all have babies, a post natal thread if we want?

stripeymummy · 20/08/2011 12:37

OMG - congratulations chip! I'm very glad to hear that you're both doing well, and I hope that you all get home in the next few weeks.

Goodness, my mum was telling me to put together a hospital bag now, and I was fobbing her off - maybe I'll have to rethink?!! Shock

stripeymummy · 20/08/2011 12:40

PS birth announcements and antenatal thread sounds good :)

Truffkin · 20/08/2011 12:42

Congratulations Chip and really glad she is doing well, I can't imagine how tiny she must be! Hope you are all being well looked after and that you can come and share your story when you get time. (((hugs)))

Have not heard anything from my GTT last Friday so for now am assuming that all is well, as the nurse who took my blood samples said I would get a phone call if they needed to see me again for any problems. Who knows, but I figure it's not worth worrying whilst I don't know anything!

AM being very lazy this morning, although I should be doing a mammoth tidy session! I am off up to Birmingham this afternoon for a friend's hen night and DH has some friends coming to stay for a boozy lads night (and afternoon!) out and our house is a tip. We had a good clear out the last couple of weekends but have used the spare room as a dumping ground, so we really need to sort that so people have somewhere to sleep Blush Of course, I'm MNing instead of tidying but must make an effort to do something before I get ready to go. I am pleased that I will miss out on the drunken snoring tonight as am staying away.

In other good news, my midwife was pleased with me when I saw her on Tuesday as I have managed to move into weight gain after my first sickly 5 months of pregnancy. I've managed a net gain of 0.8 kilos so not massively impressive at the moment, although in total that means I must have gained about a stone as I lost about that in the MS period. Am still intending to remain careful as I have no willpower so if I gain lots of weight whilst pregnant, I will just keep it on forever. My SiL has gained around 3 stone with all 3 of her pregnancies but lost it afterwards through weight watchers, I don't have the discipline though so am going to stay careful.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend - shame the weather isn't as summery as it has been though.

NotJustKangaskhan · 20/08/2011 12:55

Mazel Tov chip! I hope the hospital stay for you both goes smoothly. I think you may have inspired quite a few of us to get to work on baby things Smile.

I'm currently making a 'nesting list' of all the things I need to do that are baby related and another for all the non-baby related things I just want done in the house so I can prioritise.

neverinamillionyears · 20/08/2011 16:38

Congratulations Chip just viewed your photos, how cute are your other 3 children! Wishing you all the best.

Poppet45 · 20/08/2011 17:28

My goodness, my goodness, my goodness! Congrats Chip. I hope the beautifully named Sylvie-Rose's arrival wasn't too traumatic for you. A crash section must have been scary. She's born three days before DS's birthday - that would have been such a shock, it never even occurred to me Bunny could be a summer baby too. I hope she's a strong little lass and is off all those machines that go beep as soon as possible. She probably won't need clothes for a while but I think Boots and Mothercare do good premie baby outfit sets for when you need them. Hugs and lots of best wishes. I'm off to tell DH the first November babe is here and scare the bejezus out of him. Must sort through DS's clothes, buy a buggy board, sling and footmuff and pack that ruddy hospital bag.

voodoomunkee · 20/08/2011 17:34

Oh my word! Congrats Chip. Hope you are both doing well. Lovely name too! Very scary though. Am glad I've got most of the basics, just pram is desperate now. I ordered a new mattress for the Moses basket so at least baby will have somewhere to sleep! Ah am a little stunned a baby has arrived!

BuffyFan · 20/08/2011 17:54

Crikey! Congratulations chip and hope all of you are doing well. Looking forward to hearing more in time.

bumpandisaacsmum · 20/08/2011 22:22

Hope everyone is well & having a good weekend.

Busy week here!! Following my 28wk MW appt my MW called me yesterday to say that she has referred me to see a specialist re: antenatal depression and I have an appt next week. I am so glad that I have such a supportive MW and she is really proactive; though suprised that appt is next week & a little scared about it as it is the unknown & yet another person I have to talk to - this doesn't come easy!!

Yesterday I phoned in sick as really wasn't feeling up to going into work, even less so as it was just me and my inconsiderate colleague who spent all Thursday b**ching about how much work she'd have to do as I wasn't able to!!

Today have been to a 4yr olds party, followed by a friends house. Our friend has given us loads for baby including a sheepskin lined authentic 15th century style cradle (similar to a moses but larger & suitable for reinactment).

pam how were your home-grown veggies?? Am looking forward to getting some cooking done as MiL has just given us a bag of lovely veg from their allotment!!!

Having a relaxing day to myself tomorrow as the DP & DS are off out having a boys day....cannot wait :)

chip thinking of you and little one; hope you are both well x x

Bluetinkerbell · 20/08/2011 22:30

bumped into this thread again on the active threads page! Just wanted to wish chip congrats with your little girl! hope you will be able to take her home soon!
take care you all! x

Caliphora · 20/08/2011 23:22

bump - pictures! We'll need that next season...

Tjuice · 20/08/2011 23:23

congrats, chip! hope all is well with you both.

I haven't been on in forever, just trying to keep on right now but must say I am not really enjoying this p/g this time round. Feel really uncomfortable, chiropractor didn't help with punani and pelvis pains and then had drama this week when the increasingly horrible heavy, low feeling in my pelvis resulted in my being checked out by my gp husband, my own gp, an obstretrician at the hospital and my gynacologist. So many internals, it was foul. But lucky its not a prolapse/maturing cervix, baby coming too early or anything. All normal but rather "tense" and I need to do some exercises to relax my pelvic floor and loosen it up a bit. And there I was doing my kedgels like mad. So now its time to seriously do the yoga dvds that I often look at but never do...

we are nesting big time - have finally got our living room and dining room painted (boring but fresh white), got our new sofa, put up that huge dandelion like IKEA lamp - dh is now making a tv stand and shelving. More rooms to paint and next week, finally a proper, nice massive bed, instead of the studenty cheapy we still have, plus our first proper television. All non-baby stuff but I am preparing for the long, dark Scandinavian winter by having a cosy place.

And tomorrow I am doing a loppe market with my friend - selling off tons of clothes, shoes, books and trinkety stuff. We do it every few years and I love it, although I do think what a waste of money buying all this stuff in the first place. I prefer it to fiddling around on ebay though. After all this, then its getting the final baby things together - I need a playmat, a breast pump and a swing/bouncer. All stuff I had before and can't find now, annoyingly. And will definitely pack the hospital bag soon too ;)

Primula talk was hilarious but the cake recipes has stuck in my mind tonight. I did a great and easy Lorraine Pascale cake recently - chocolate with fresh cream and straws - a good one because there was no creaming the butter and sugar - just dumped it all in together but it was lush.

Hope all is well with everyone!

smilingcl · 21/08/2011 09:05

Ahh Tjuice, I relate to your post! We moved out our last housemate yesterday, she's just moving round the corner but the day of activity followed by a rewarding shandy in the pub was about as much as my body could take. sitting on the wooden bench I switched between slumping forwards and back and sitting bolt upright trying to compensate for punani, achy tail, ribs sticking in bump and getting kicked! Had to go home to bed early!

We've got dp's best friend from Cph over at the moment, he's helping with the house stuff - similarly white, and trying to move away from studentsville. They're going to the cricket today so I'm preparing the kitchen for ripping out tomorrow. Exciting, but I'm not looking forwards to eating ready meals for weeks. Particularly as that's my day job anyway...

Guess I better get started!

cep · 21/08/2011 09:18

oh chip congratulations, i'm so pleased for you, and a little girl as well. i hope she's doing well.

I forgot who asked, but i have extra scans cause i'm a hunkachunk and they want to make sure the baby isn't going to be as well.

I am in pain today, we went to the zoo yesterday and my back and groin is killing today, it also meant i didn't sleep well, and i didn't get my lie in as ds had a little accident in bed so i am in pain and tired and have to do a roast pork lunch, and as dh never understands anything that doesn't involve him directly will no doubt get moaned at for not being able to do much....i'm not looking forward to today.

PamSco · 21/08/2011 09:35

Ah cep I would jump in and help if I could! Hope you get some chance to rest.

We are having a big clean up day today, want the place nice. Will try to get nursery moved on, at least my crap packed away. Tjuice you are inspiring me :)

Big woohoo last night, found my knitting. Oh what has my life become Wink

Bump veggies were nice - carrots very tasty, broad beans GORGEOUS, beets sweet tasty tiny bullets :) potatoes tasty but strange as they are very pink, parsnips fine, and lovely onions. I managed to over cook them a bit.

Are you allowed to play music in hospital? Or does it have to be on headphones? I think headphones might get in my way but I really like the idea of a giving birth playlist... what would be the best song to squeeze a baby out too? Something long, strong and uplifting?!

H007 · 21/08/2011 11:09

Congratulation chip and what a surprise! Hope all is well!!!

The news has well and truly got my OH in a tizz of panic so next week will be a busy one with trips to Ikea and mamas and papas to try and get more organised plus that hospital bag :-0

voodoomunkee · 21/08/2011 11:48

Morning. Wondering how our 1st arrival is doing, hope they are all ok.

I was on one re sorting out stuff anyways but am more determined now! We are in the middle of decorating the frontroom/dining room. It's hard going and I know I did wayyyyy too much yesterday! Taking it a little easier today. Keep forgetting how far along I am getting to be now! 29 weeks next week, eek. I feel quite confident that ignoring the lack of pram scenario and thanks to the fact that I hoard I have my daughters perfectly serviceable rockatot type car seat cleaned and stored in the loft, that I could cope should anything happen unexpectedly! My OH went pale when I told him about the unexpected arrival and stepped up his painting efforts!

Am also quite happy as once this is decorated I would feel able to really go for a homebirth! Mw was very confident that she would be happy to help me have one as she doesn't see an issue and OH is happy as long as I am happy!!

bumpandisaacsmum · 21/08/2011 11:51

cep hope the pain eases, I too would be there to help you if I could!! Luckily my DP is very supportive & if I say I'm struggling/in pain he tells me to put my feet up & takes over (though I still can't fully trust him with the cooking)

cali I've put a pic of the cradle on the FB page; our friend had it made specifically (by a friend of theirs who does weaving) and managed to use it for 3 seasons - her 3yr old still fits, just though wouldn't fit a 4th hence why we have been given it. It is gorgeous & I may end up using it more than the moses basket we have been given!!

Glad you enjoyed your fresh veg pam

smiling I would check with your hosp/MW; they aren't normally against music being listened to without headphones as you are in your own room most of the time but it is more if they allow you to take your own music device in. The hosp where I had DS had a CD player in each room & so I took a CD; the hosp I am going to this time provides nothing but will allow you to take a device in - some hosp want to PAT test them prior to you using them others will only allow battery powered so you need lots of batteries.
