The same sorts of things the mws do at the booking in, blood preassure, talk about family hostory, any other reasons why you might be there. Then of your high risk they may draw up a plan of action with you of not they may hand you back over to mw led care. Probably lots of other things too and if my memory serves me right lots of waiting around!

Back from the maternity library, got some really nice tops and a couple of pairs of shorts. Will need to go back when its more wintery as she only had the summer stuff out, still very worth it tho!

ParsleyLion1 · 06/08/2011 18:20

Thanks addicted - I'll take a good book then :) It's only age related risk so I assume they must just check for diabetes and pre-eclampsia etc more often.

Love the idea of the maternity library. May see if we have one nearby :)

redheadbedhead · 06/08/2011 18:25

yeah, how did you find out about the maternity library? i can't find anything in my area.

addictediam · 06/08/2011 19:29

In the pack the mw gave me there was a book thing and in there was a tiny advert. I then googled maternity librarys and up popped a cough netmums cough page with all the details. This one is in malvern, and I saw some advertised in London, but I've never heard of them before this pregnancy.

If anyone lives near malvern I can pass on details.

ChocaMum · 06/08/2011 19:33

Wow lots to catch up on! I'm afraid I've been puking more and like mummyzoe I've been bringing up blood everyday for 2 weeks. Both MW and GP are trying to get me admitted into hospital but because of DD I keep resisting. So instead I've come to stay at my parents and have even more tablets to try to take :(

18 weeks now though so only 2 weeks till my 20 wk scan! And I've been feeling lots of movements too but mainly at night. When I put my hand on my tummy I can't feel anything though, think I have too much insulation! I can't imagine why after not eating for 2 months.

addicted I love the idea of maternity libraries but I'm finding google not very helpful for London maternity libraries. I am an odd shape so buying off eBay is always a bit tricky for me, and charity shops rarely have maternity clothes, even normal shops stock very little. I'm glad you did well at yours though.

mum2be great news about 'the friend' - finally! what a busy time you have ahead! And your scan so soon, how exciting!

shonno what scary dreams. Hope you're ok.

redhead my 20 wk scan appointment was made at reception after our 12 wk scan. Hope you get your date through soon.

oeisha I love JL, I would buy everything from there if I could. The nursery staff are very helpful and it's a great consultation service they do. Hope you had fun.

belini you poor thing. good luck, fingers crossed you get it all sorted.

giraffe hope you're feelin better today.

DD is finally asleep, she is enjoying all the attention with grandparents. Especially after weeks of being left with cbeebies and a mum who wants to sleep or puke all the time. Poor DD. Fingers crossed the rest here will get me back to being a bit more normal.

I'm sorry for all the posts I haven't read properly yet. Slowly catching up. Hope you're all enjoying the weekend.

addictediam · 06/08/2011 19:35

Just did a quick search i can only find 1 other in oxford. Sorry. This one seems to be raising money for the nct and are linked to them so maybe there may be more on the nct website?
(sorry am on my phone and its all just so slow!)

addictediam · 06/08/2011 19:38

www.llloxford.org.uk/LLLmcl.html

Sorry my geography may be off, is oxford near London?

ChocaMum · 06/08/2011 19:50

The only one I found was in Oxford too. It depends where in London you are but from SE London it's a bit of a trek. Thanks though!

Oeisha · 06/08/2011 21:14

Evenin' all!
Back from John Lewis (via a yummy curry...get the feeling that's coming back up) and am utterly exhausted.
Very thankful I took Mum and MIL with me as at points I was kind of "MEH! I don't know!!!" Just how many types of baby-bath can there BE?! Usefully they had a fold-up one...think I'll go for that as I can pop it down the side of the bath...where Gadget (cat) can't panic-wee on it...
We have settled on the iCandy Peach however, so I'll be pushing one of them about.
Also collected the Dreamgenii up...can't wait to get a decent night's sleep.
My only thought is ARGGGHHHH!!!! SOOO MUCH BLOODY STUFF!!! so little money Confused
Hope we've all had good days.
I'm off to bed. At work early tomorrow Sad

redheadbedhead · 07/08/2011 07:28

oooh a good haul there Oeisha, well done!

I haven't slept a wink because of the riots in Tottenham - we're not in Tottenham itself but all we could hear was sirens all night. Can't believe it descended into such madness.

Supposed to be off on hols today but will only be able to go if I'm not yakking up continuously - it's a 5hr car journey to Devon and I'm not doing that if I'm sick, but I just can't tell at the moment, some days are fine, others, like yesterday, are NOT. Wish me luck, I really want to get to the seaside!!!!

If I go I won't be back on here for a while, so hope you all have a good week or two Smile byeee! x

ParsleyLion1 · 07/08/2011 07:47

Good luck red, hope you manage to cope to go today. If anything to get out of the city and all the extra noise!

OP posts:
ParsleyLion1 · 07/08/2011 07:54

Blimey Oeisha ! I don't think I've got the stamina for that kind of shopping. OH had said that we could do one of those JL sessions if I wanted but it sounds a bit hardcore.

OP posts:
shonnomanom · 07/08/2011 09:14

Good luck Red hope you manage to get away and enjoy your holiday.

Was it addicted or ghost that bought the Dreamgenii a while back? I cant remember. How are you finding it? I was going to try ebay for it...

My Sis-IL is having a Baby Shower thrown for her this afternoon. Iv never been to one before, infact Iv never known anyone to have one. Will be an interesting afternoon I think.

I miss jeans!! Have been in almost every shop I think and cant find a pair of maternity jeans that fit properly Sad Unfortunatley I never loast enough of the baby/cake & chocolate wieght before this pregnancy so my old uber comfy mat jeans dont fit. They were from DP and had the adjustable elastic on the pockets which was great. Cant get any like that this time around. Boo Hiss

ParsleyLion1 · 07/08/2011 11:28

shonno Next have got some like that online - but they didn't have any in the shop when I went.

Re the Dream Geneii I've got one. It's quite comfy but I have ended tangled in it a couple of nights when I've been a bit restless.

OP posts:
ghosteditor · 07/08/2011 12:15

Shonno I've had one for a few weeks and love it. Has helped a lot and looks less bulky than others I've seen. The only downside is that the white pillow case it comes with doesn't seem to be v good quality (pilling a bit after 3 weeks and 2 washes). Replacements are ~£15. May try to make one if can get hands on sewing machine.

shonnomanom · 07/08/2011 12:35

Thanks Ladies x
Parsley I noticed that Next have them online now that the new catologue is out. Think Im going to have to order them to try them. Hmm

Looks like im going to go to ebay for the dreamgenii, DP is getting annoyed at me stealling the duvet for a makeshift Genii. Good luck with making the replacement covers ghost

addictediam · 07/08/2011 15:19

Last pg I bought some jeans from gap, really comfy, I would actually live in them if i could!

I've been considering investing in a genii but dont have one, i too keep stealing duvet to make a makeshift one, luckly its been really hot!

Oeisha · 07/08/2011 17:19

red I hope you manage to make it on hol.
parsley most of the session can be done sat down...so other than having to think there isn't much to it. Thoug I did try on a baby-carrier thingy with 'baby John' in it, and it make a guy jump at the tills (near the advisory point) when I dropped 'John' on the floor* (John is a weighted doll that you can use to give you an idea of what things will be like with baby in them). My advisor was very friendly and helpful, and they did ask at the very beginning what areas we wanted to look at (feeding, bedding, cots, travel...that kind of thing), so if there's an area you have covered, they're happy to skip.

Re: dreamgenii, slept fairly well last night, only woke up twice...but did find it weird being on my left. Still feel fecking terrible today despite it, but I think that has little to do with the pillow. I found the bump support very comforting, despite not having much of a bump...it's all flab...(seriously, the young ones at work think I'm massive already...I think they've got a bit of a shock coming, I still fit in all my pre-pg tops)

I've had a really bloody terrible day otherwise. Very stressful and needlessly so. Just plain incompetence meaning I've had do sort out a load of crap, and I've had to spend most of the day on my feet, when I could really have done with a load of time to get on with MY OWN work.......but then pigs might fly!

I'm off for some sobbing (good lord, I miss GIN) and as a geeky-type, some escapism in the World of Warcraft...and just pray to the all-seeing sky-pixie I don't get a migraine...

fishandlilacs · 07/08/2011 20:12

God you lot just HAVE to stop talking so much :)-I have been away 3 days and this thread has lept on by 8 pages!

I am now 18 weeks-is anyone else still getting the odd random bough of sickness? I have just thrown up my lunch (ok it was a service station macdonalds so prob for the best) I dunno if it's related to tiredness, we have just been sat in the car for almost 4 hours coming back from holiday. But by this time with dd I had stopped being sick totally a month ago. Now I am being sick about once a week.

I have only skimmed the last few pages so I hope all is well. xx

fishandlilacs · 07/08/2011 20:15

Oeisha what server are you on? I used to play WOW before the birth of dd (and before the first expansion pack came out) Gave it up when i was pregnant, theres simply no time in the world for levelling up a real human as well as a online one. I had a lv 60 rogue called kettricken. She was so cool.

Oeisha · 07/08/2011 21:50

fish Depends on what I'm playing, I'm on Vek'nilash as Alliance, and Lightbringer as Horde (but haven't actually played horde for a very long time - love it, just have an excellent Alliance guild). I'm also a huge fan of the Farseer Trilogy btw! :D

fish sounds like it might be tiredness. I'm less frequently sick (so every 3-4 days) but will usually puke everythig up, all day...it's definitely worse with tiredness...(out the nose bad).

As for my stress levels, it happened once before (different set of stress mind you) and I lost it slightly with them - at the time I was about 6wks and cramping/bleeding, so was VERY unimpressed. Unfortunatly today, I was the senior person on section, and it was just my shit to deal with...but I am now demanding a sit down asap with my manager and telling him things need to change, or I'll be bringing in the heavies (last thing they need, but wtf)...it's getting beyond a joke as a little planning and foresight and the whole thing was sortable yesterday. Shame, as my line manager's basically just stepped into a nightmare and seems a decent bloke...but, well, that's what he's paid the 'big money' for...

fishandlilacs · 07/08/2011 22:03

Ooh I adore robin Hobb-i was just discussing in all seriousness if i could get away with calling this baby Kettricken. he didn't say no :)

We were on aszune-had a fab guild too. i kind of miss those days but DH and I were unhealthily obsessed for about 2 years so it's for the best we dont play anymore.

Would it work in the real world, do you think? ketty/Kettricken :)

Oeisha · 07/08/2011 22:54

Don't see why not. Grin It is a really pretty name...
Just to drive her mad you could call her 'chicken' when she was naughty! lol

Don't think I could stop either of us MMORPGing...luckily my alliance guild is run by an at-home-mummy and has another 2 mummies in it! (and a few daddies), so we're all bouncey at the thought of a new guildie baby [we'll I'm not bouncey, just exhausted]. I go through phases of being on loads, and then nowt for a while...usually based on levels of exhaustion. I suspect I will have less time when Yolkis is here, but that's ok. It's not like I have a hardcore raiding schedule to stick to, just not that good. My only other problem is my mumsnet addiction along with a small obsession with catchat.org.uk (yes, I'm also a crazy catlady).

At the moment, we're not really discussing names properly, I have ideas, but want to see what comes out. If asked, I suggest, Adolph, Stalin etc...gets the point accross that I don't care if they don't like what we choose quite nicely.

biddyofsuburbia · 08/08/2011 08:19

Hello, Newbie here - can I join in? DC3 EDD 12/01/12! Have not been to MN for absolutely ages but this seems like a great excuse to be back! Have DB7 and DD4 about to start full time school in Sept, and no-one else I know in RL is expecting so would be nice to hang out here once in a while! Got my 16 week appt (2 weeks late due to hols!) on Thursday with consultant not MW and then 20 wk scan 2 weeks later after come back from week away! Nervous abt Thurs as not sure if feeling any movement yet but fingers crossed all is OK! Feel almost like first time again given the 5yr gap between pg's! Oh, and slightly 'belated' congrats to you all Smile!

ghosteditor · 08/08/2011 09:14

biddy welcome to the list and please feel free to add yourself - there are a few of us due on Jan 12th, me included!

DH has heard from a new parent at his work that the Kiddicare warehouse in Peterborough is the place to go to try things out - apparently it is a warehouse the size of B&Q but with three floors! So we're going to figure out what we need to buy new and then have a bit of a spree - definitely after the 20 week scan but most likely in October or November (after my local NCT nearly new sale). So glad that his work is such a fertile place as it means he will pick up handy hints like that from his colleagues Grin
