Afternoon all, feeling rough today; headache, earache, sore throat Sad

But on the plus side I think I may have a whole marching band in my stomach, movements are definite and pretty constant - its fantastic Grin I'm finally feeling that the whole thing is real.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 05/08/2011 12:19

How far along are you Giraffe? I think I felt a forward roll the other day, but it may have just been stomach gurgles - I am dying to feel those movements. Sympathy about the coldy stuff though - miserable to be ill when pregnant - as if the pregnancy isn;t enough to deal with physically!

Nanny01 · 05/08/2011 12:19

yep me to even though I am large I have a deffinate pregnant shape that I could see when I was out shopping. I have my scan on the 16th August for the 20 week scan. Can't believe I am almost at half way. Still having tiered days though.

GiraffeAHolic · 05/08/2011 12:24

I'm 18+5 makescakes been having 'flurries' since week 14 but the frequency now makes me convinced its Baby Chick Smile

ghosteditor · 05/08/2011 13:19

I've had the odd flutter too, but nothing major and conclusive yet. I figure it won't belong before I'm cursing being booted in the ribs all the time Wink

ghosteditor · 05/08/2011 14:09

MW appointment went well! We talked through my blood results - I'm rhesus positive so there's no problem there and nothing else came up, thankfully. I heard the heartbeat which was a real joy (it took a few minutes to find though - the little one was hiding right under my belly button) and it measured at 145-150. And my blood pressure was down a bit from the last reading which is great.

Other than that she just checked I had scans booked etc and talked about NHS/NCT classes etc - she seemed a bit deflated when I said I'd already booked NCT! MW runs a very local class but unfortunately I'm away with work on the date of the next class so will miss it. And the one after that is just after my due date, so leaving it a bit late.

supadupapupascupa · 05/08/2011 15:00

Hi there, just had my 16 week check-up too. I had glucose in my urine so got to go back in 2 weeks. Not worried as I had some lemonade before I peed (oops!)

No check of heartbeat, no talk of classes. (very envious!)

Blood pressure is right down which is brilliant news, and MW was pleased with the nuchal results of 1/17,000.

Am think I can feel movements, they're just not strong enough to be sure.....

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 05/08/2011 15:18

What was lovely for me was that the movement I felt was just after DH had laid his hand on my belly and it was right under his hand - it was lovely for both of us that we got to share that moment. God - so hot. Was standing outside while Autoglass guy did my windscreen and now I'm fried.

addictediam · 05/08/2011 15:49

Hello, I'm off to the maternity library tomorrow hopefully I'll be able to pick out a few nice items.

I'm rubbish with books, once I start to read one I HAVE to finish it, it can't wait until the next day or just till after I finish making dinner, it has to be finished NOW! As a result I stay away from books.

ghosteditor · 05/08/2011 16:52

maternity library? que?

ghosteditor · 05/08/2011 16:52

pity me though; I left my pseudo-gaviscon at home by mistake today and can't wait until I can leave work and go get it!

[glug, glug]

addictediam · 05/08/2011 17:05

It's a library for maternity clothes. This one is in malvern, worcester but there are others all around the country. They all operate slightly difftently and charge diffrent amounts but this one you pay £5 to join, can borrow as much as you like for £1 an item and then you return it all washed and ironed 3 months after your due date. Amazing idea! Usually money raised goea towards a local baby chairity or the local maternity unit. They are also usually run from someones home so can be quite intimidating, but a cheap way to get a maternity wardrobe and give money to a worthwile cause.

Oh no ghost, I am permantly glued to my rene tablets, so I really feel for you.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 05/08/2011 17:17

I can highly recommend Rennies, Ghost - they fit neatly in your handbag and Sainsburys had a special offer on for a pack of 72. I generally don't need them till bedtime, though, hence my dentist's check up next week. What with the aversion to brushing during the nauseous phase and now the Rennies-crunching after bed phase my teeth need checking over!

Doctor was very nice, listened for Fishface's heartbeat with the doppler and got a couple of seconds of it before FF squirmed away and refused to play ball any more. Got my pee tested and all that jazz and was given the all-clear, so doc told me it was probably combo of growing pains and heat-related water retention and just to take it easy and relax as nothing was wrong.

Was so nice to hear the bubba's heartbeat, got a bit teary, but still feeling a bit bleurgh in myself. Oh well. Dh will be back soon with some biscuits and other goodies from the supermarket and tomorrow my uncle and his OH are coming up and taking us out for a pub lunch - lovely. What are you all up to this weekend?

ghosteditor · 05/08/2011 17:20

That's a great idea addicted! Might look into it. Am home and relieved by non-brand Gaviscon now, phew!

On the clothes note... Does anyone want to buy some size 12 black Capri pants from red herring from me? Unworn (arrived today!) but not a good fit on me. £24 new but I paid £17 in the sale. No worries if not, have free returns, but just wanted to check!

ghosteditor · 05/08/2011 17:22

Oh yey cakes so pleased that all looks ok!

mummyzoe2012 · 05/08/2011 20:48

midwife app was great today- she explained everything and retested for protien and that and i got the all clear just a bit worried about the blood in the omit she thinks ive torn something with being sick so much.

on the good news dp got to hear the heart beat today, and midwife told him to put his hands on my tummy and he smiled as he felt the baby move( i didnt feel anything though) then when we got home he did it again and felt baby move again. making it seam more real to him now!!!

he wants to do it every 5 mins!

Belini · 05/08/2011 20:55

Just popping in quickly will have a good nosey at posts later.
As if things weren't bad enough with the jags and the stupid family I have now been given fours weeks notice to quit my private let grrr. Have already found somewhere else but they need a £500 deposit, problem is I moved into this house and landlord didn't want a deposit so I don't have one to get back. I could actually cry Sad

redheadbedhead · 06/08/2011 07:53

oh Belini Sad sorry you're having a rubbish time. you probably should have a cry and let it all out

addicted what a great idea, am going to see if i can find one near me, seems crazy to spend loads of money on clothes you only wear for a couple of months.

you guys with real movements that other people can feel!! I'm so jealous!!!Envy I keep feeling weird things but nothing conclusive or enough for anyone else to feel! A bit nervous that I'm not having my 16wk check next week (have to wait til 18wk) and in between I've got to get on an aeroplane - kind of wish I could have some reassurance that everythings going ok - feels like ages since the 12wk scan. Kick me now you little piglet!!!

and I still don't have a date for the 20wk - did you guys all get your dates in the post or whatever? I've heard nothing!

debs39 · 06/08/2011 08:30

redheadbedhead got my date thru post...if I were you I would just ring the hospital and ask if they have sent it out and you just haven't got the letter...

ps took delivery of my hi bebe doppler this morning at 730am...have only tried it twice ha ha so far..I will have to bulk-buy batteries at this rate!! At first I only got the placenta swooshy noise but then got bubs v v low down ( it did say in instructions that bubs is general much lower in pelvic area than you would actually think)...am off up to mams now to let her have a listen!!!!!!

redheadbedhead · 06/08/2011 08:33

oooh exciting debs!!

Oeisha · 06/08/2011 09:28

Good morning all!

redhead like others I got my date through the post (2 days after my 12wk scan..,think my sonographer was keen as she got really good pics of Yolkis 1st time round). If it's any help, I asked my MW about whether the generalised 'shifting' feeling are Yolkis flying about in there (like my whole womb has suddenly moved) and she said yes, that is Yolkis. Oddly, I feel more movement when I'm stood and walking about...both the shifting movements and the nudges and scrapes, nothing when I'm concentrating on feeling stuff when lying in bed...(really want to see if DH can feel the movements, but no chance if Yolkis likes it when I'm walking about). Bacially, what I feel - any of the movements - are nothing like the flutterings/bubbles people have told me to look out for - though I can see why people might think it would be active bowls. Never thought having IBS would be of any use, but it means I know the feelings in my gut very well, and this ain't them...so, your feelings could be your piglet...!

belini (((more hugs))) :(

makescakes Glad to hear everything's good with Fishface

My OH would really like to feel movements, but as outlined above, not likely to happen yet! Think I'm gonna have to take DH swimming or something so he can can have a good prod when I'm active. Either that, or I'm gonna have to wait 'til I can feel a definite hoof print in there...

Off to John Lewis with Mum and MIL in a few...should be...interesting. Going for one of their creating a nursery and baby-list appointments. Will report back as to whether it was any use (and probably rant about how overwhelmign it all was as despite feelign stuff and having a wee belly, it still doesn't feel real...coudl still be a funny lookin tapeworm).

shonnomanom · 06/08/2011 09:55

Morning ladies! Cant believe we're on thread 3 already. Just marking my pace before catching up x

shonnomanom · 06/08/2011 11:04

Wow what a busy 7 pages to catch up on.

Sorry to hear that so many of you lovely ladies have been having a rough week of it one way or another. Hope the new week is a better one x

Welcome cakes

Our holiday up north was a bit of a wash out unfortunately. And it looks like DD is taking the Travel sickness to the extreme. Evey car journey this last week no matter the distance. However we did make it home and dry yesterday thanks to moving her carseat to the middle of the back seat.

Have a had a lot of dodgy horrible dreams this last week, varied from DP dying to eating staples. The worst was Thursday night where I dreamt I was miscarrying. As we were travelling home Fri we were pretty busy all morning. It wasnt until after lunch time that I realised that I hadnt felt my usual morning flutters. Luckily by the time we had got settled at home and dd to bed I could relax and Bobby made up for lost time [phew]. Its soo horrible thinkning something might be wrong.

Heres to a better week for everyone x

19wks tommorow, 20wk scan in 10 days!!!
Sho x

Mum2be79 · 06/08/2011 14:25

I too am 19 weeks tomorrow and I've got my scan this Friday at 11:20am!!!

I've been feeling little flutters but lots of 'rolling' feelings but during the past three days, it's been quiet Confused

I survived Thursday with mum's 'friend'. She's got the message from me and my mum to 'back off' which I'm pleased about.

Got a busy week in front of me - deliveries, scaffolding to be taken down from the house, a company round to fix the gutters they put up months ago, scan on Friday, followed by Pizza Hit and shopping! :), 1st wedding anniversary on Saturday, National Coal Mining Museum on Sunday, hotel on Sunday evening and fly out to Madeira on Monday 15th August! Phew! When will I pack the suitcases???

ParsleyLion1 · 06/08/2011 17:33

Bleurgh. Just taken me 2 hours to go about 12 miles in horrible traffic!

They made my appt for my 20 wk scan when I came out of the 12 wk scan so I had the letter there and then. Feeling quite jealous of all the ladies about to have their 20wk scans - still got over a week til my 16 week MW appt :(

I had a letter come through for an appt with the obstetrician yesterday (annoyingly the day before my scan so have to take more time off work). I'm assuming this is because I'm shared care rather than MW led. Does anybody know what the obstetrician might do in the appt? I suppose I can ask the MW when I go Confused
