Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi all,

Well done with your scan Mum2be, I have mine on the 6th September and we're still in two minds as to finding out the sex like yourselves. I'm such a control freak I probably will have to find out though!

Couldn't believe it but after weeks of worrying about my non-existent bump, I felt baby kick on Friday! I was standing chatting to MIL (could have triggered it!) and I felt ooft, then ooft ooft down below my tummy button. Then felt it sporadically that evening, a bit yesterday, and now I'm sat watching a DVD (lazy Sunday :)) and it's having a bit of a kick about again.

I'm so relieved and can't wait for my OH to be able to feel it too so he can share the excitement.

Right, back to the Bodyguard....Blush

X

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 14/08/2011 15:44

Fishface is having a party for one today - so much wriggling it's lovely :-)

Spagbolagain · 14/08/2011 16:40

Well no, I didn't know that uteruses contracted so regularly! :)

These do feel like full on B-H, which I do remember from my first PG but I am sure I did notice later. It goes all hard and tight for a few seconds, noticeably (ie not just a feeling bit tensed or heavy) not painful but can be a little uncomfortable if you are in certain positions. It is like a mini contraction but without any pain.

Jealous of those feeling proper kicks. Mine are still more squirms and shifts. Although my 12weeks scan said I had an anterior placenta, and from what I've read that can cushion the feeling somewhat.
Think we are also concluding team yellow......

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 14/08/2011 16:46

Mine are squirming too spagbol - just more often than before. We're still negotiating over whether to go team yellow or not. I want to know, but I don't want to ride roughshod over DH on our first joint parenting decision on which we disagree.

fishandlilacs · 14/08/2011 19:23

Were a squirming here too, not much in the way of actual kicks but lots of wiggly rolly feelings-I think shrimpy likes roast chicken judging by the loop-the-loops it was doing, while eating my dinner.

debs39 · 14/08/2011 20:45

Am soooooo wanting to find out bubs' gender...didn't at all with DS1!!!! Think may be because have had a tough time actually getting to have anther bubs that want it to be more real sooner...how the heck I will keep it secret from everyone (DH included) is another matter altogether...ps not getting any BSs thank goodness, not feeling sick, yakky lady fluids seems to be lessening off too woohoo so just 4 pairs of knickers a day now ha ha!!! Am getting concerned about weight though...daren't get on scales...having huge and I mean huge carbohydrate cravings ( eat so much i end up feeling sick ha ha not clever)...some erm friends/acquaintances wld delight in me putting weight on....but this pregnancy since I hit about 13wks and queasiness eased off all thatl i want to do is eat toast, cereal, biscuits...nutella, lemoncurd.......thank goodness only got another 21wks left...

Oeisha · 14/08/2011 21:52

Excellent! More of us are feeling stuff.
Sometimes I swear it's Yolkis, but then, like yesterday, nothing (still mainly squirmign that sometime mamkes me queasy)! I know I shouldn't worry as Yolkis is probably just floating in the middle (sensory deprivation-style) but it's still unnerving. Not much today either. Had a few tonight...but now I'm worrying that there's something up. Massive headache again, everso slight temp (digital read 37.0c but it usually reads 36.4-36.7 for me), but have taken paracetamol (can't remember if that brings down your temp, and to 'google' this may just drive me insane), slight pains and discomfort round my womb and...my bloating's all gone, so I now just fit back in my prepg clothes (not jeans though), though there's still [a bit of] a bump. Some ways I feel horribly pregnant, others not at all. All very Confused...
...just feel grim and tired and tearful...bloody pregnancy hormones!
Back in work again tomorrow (day off- hahaha!) but only for a few hours.

As for finding out the sex...DH doesn't want to, so we won't. As long as one of us doesn't want to/isn't sure, we won't. Though the practical side of me really want to know.

Re: 20wk scan. I didn't think you needed to fill your bladder, but I still got the "drink a pint" instructions with my scan letter...thankfully I don't seem to be suffering too badly with my bladder, and I can always wee it out...or, I guess I could just give them a ring the day before if I'm stressing about it.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 15/08/2011 09:02

Am definitely getting some slight cravings now. Lemons. Esp lemon drinks - the sourer the better. Made my own lemonade yesterday with lemon juice a little sugar and fizzy water - was absolutely delicious. Definitely going to be buying a few lemons with the shop today!

Love feeling fishface dancing - was brilliant to feel him/her (hate saying 'it') so much yesterday. Am hoping will feel them more from now on :-)

GiraffeAHolic · 15/08/2011 09:21

Whoo 20 weeks today, halfway there Grin

BigHotMama · 15/08/2011 09:33

Hi everyone hope your all well! Have given up trying to catch up on all the news took me whole afternoon to do first 5 pages of this thread lol so hi to any newbies and sorry if I've missed any news.

Been in Tenerife for last 2 weeks which was lovely and relaxing but felt like folk were looking at my belly wondering is she just a porker or is she pg? Some clothes I took were too tight so good job I invested in some mat wear b4 I went as our smurf seems to be growing by the day my bump is bigger at the top making me look 7 months. Can't wait for it to look more obvious.

Feeling few fluttery feelings and more internal movement and smurf doesn't want to play if I put my hand on belly. But am almost 17 wks and didn't get proper kick with ds until 20 wks.

Have come home to a letter from doctors saying they have my urine sample results back and I need to make an appointment to discuss this, got me all worried now as they must have found something otherwise I would have an all clear letter instead right?

Got my 16 wk app tomorrow so at least can discuss this with mw.

addictediam · 15/08/2011 09:38

paracetomal will bring a temp down, but if you are getting regular temps, headaches, flashing lights, and pains at 20+ weeks you really should speak to a mw (it can, but not always, be a sign of pre-eclampsia)

ghosteditor · 15/08/2011 09:48

hope you're feeling a bit better today Oeisha?

welcome back, bighotmama! It sounds like you've had a much better week than me - we've been installing a new kitchen (at least, DH and FiL have) so it's been stressful and grubby at chez ghost. Re the urine test results - it's probably just something they need to double check, so don't worry too much. You'd have call after call if it were really serious - they probably just found a bit of something in the test and will want to check it's not still there. Hope all goes well. I've found it much easier to get a GP appt with the magic words 'I'm pregnant and I need to see a GP please' so hope you get some answers soon.

Very interesting news about how the uterus contracts - I've had a few moments where things have felt odd and spasmy so that's probably what it is. I think I might try swimming again tonight as pamplemousse seemed to like it last week - but then again I'm not at all sure I can fit in my swimsuit this week!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 15/08/2011 09:59

Fishface is completely unbothered by me going swimming. I got the most activity yesterday when I was lying on the sofa with the lappie against my tummy - perhaps bubba likes the tiptapping of the keys?

BigHotMama · 15/08/2011 10:03

New kitchen sounds quite stressful hopefully it will be finished before you know it ghost. Just rang docs and guess what they can fit me in tomorrow next to mw appointment, think it's an infection as she told me I have to see doctor to get prescription for ab's. So I have had some kind of infection but not even known it or had any symptoms? At least it's not serious and I can relax again.

Has anybody got lazy pg lady symptoms? I can't seem to get anything done around house got tons of housework to be doing but have zero motivation?

BigHotMama · 15/08/2011 10:05

Loving the names pamplemouse and fishface very amusing Grin

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 15/08/2011 10:31

Well it looked like it had a fishface wehn we were first aware of it - an eye on either side of its head!

And yes - I find it very hard to get off the sofa. Luckily I can work lying down with the lappie, but even so I'd rather arse around on here and FB. Wish we could afford for me to be a kept woman :-) Seems like growing a new human being from scratch is using all my brain power and energy, but I still have housework and supermarket to do

abeautifulbutterfly · 15/08/2011 10:54

Damn, MN just swallowed huge post from me Angry.
Will reiterate congrats to fishandlilac on getting taken seriously, agreement on pork neck fillet to knittiekittie (and a wave from the salt mine - I live 10 mins walk from it!) and nods on BH with everyone who's having them.

Kicks def. more frequent now (ate ice-cream yesterday to try and provoke them (sugary and cold) and it worked!).
20-wk scan at 21 wks on 2nd Sept. Want to know sex.

Off on girlie jaunt across Europe w DDs tonight (night train to Baltic coast, then across Germany in a week and then flying to Mum's in Peak District next week - wave to Oeisha - hope you're feeling better).

Speak to you all in a couple of weeks, keep safe and well!

Nanny01 · 15/08/2011 11:35

Hi every one, really nervous now as my 20 week scan is tomorrow. I can finally give myself permission to buy things as long as everything is ok. Also after not being interested over the whole 5th baby thing mum has asked me if we will find out the sex of the baby tomorrow, shame she is to busy to sit the kids. fortunately my mil is so dh and I can go together. Also mil is having the kids for most of the day I might get dh to take the day off not just the morning. I am expecting a long wait as we were an hour late getting to see the sonographer last time as loads of patients appeared from the wards up stairs :(. NOte to any body going for the scan take water as I really wished I had taken some as we were there for so long.

Really excited about buying things now but still worried as I think I have felt something move but not much. Have had close friends lose babys at this stage and it has made me really worried. On the other hand I have to remind myself that ds2 I felt nothing much till 21 weeks as I had a anterior placenta.

mummyzoe2012 · 15/08/2011 14:53

hiya all, been to a and e today as not felt baby move since thursday. they listend to the heart beat and it sounded like a train and 2 midwifes said its a boy is there any truth in that or just purly a old wifes tale? gotta wait till 7th september for next scan realy could do with one now for reasurance as my dog pulled me over on thursday and im scared its hurt baby mc. is there any way of trign to change the appointment for one sooner or not?

shonnomanom · 15/08/2011 15:45

mummyzoe Glad everything is ok! Iv heard that theory just recently. There is another one about peeing on Bicarbonate of Soda to gender test as well Hmm Dd sounded like a horse but this time it sounds more train like. Time will tell....

Nanny Hope everything goes well for you tommorrow. My scan is at 11am tommorrow.
They gave me my 20wk scan date at the 12 wk scan. Then a few weeks later they sent a letter changing the venue of the scan. But at no point have the said about drinking water. I remember from last time it was less. Oh well if I drink too much I can always visit the loo..

Hope everyone is well.
My heartburn is starting to rear its ugly head again Angry

fishandlilacs · 15/08/2011 16:27

Hiya all,

Shrimpy has been active today and I'm ravenous, i just wanted to say i too have been eating lemoncurd like it;s going out of fashion debs. Weird thing to crave I think-also lemon half moon cakes :)

SlightlyScrambled · 15/08/2011 19:28

Hi everyone. It's been yonks since i've been on. Funnily, I've associated MN with morning sickness. I know it's all in the mind so have to get back on here.

I've been getting lots of kicks and squirms now and loving the second trimester.

Best of luck Nanny and Shonnon with your scans tomorrow.

So what do the old wives say about the hearbeat sounding like a helicopter? Grin

Conchita · 15/08/2011 19:47

Hello everyone, especially the newbies. And Mum2Be79, woo-hoo for your scan. Hope the placenta situation resolves itself for you.
I have just had mine today too and everything looks fine. Baby was wriggling all over the place and sucking thumb, just feel totally enchanted and wish i could see him/her every day. Now I feel sure all that wriggling and kicks that I can feel are the baby, was having a good go at kicking me on the screen. As a few of you have also said, my DH didn't want to know gender and I conceded as I didn't have strong feelings/ don't want to form too many preconceptions. Why is it that men seem to not want to know? I secretly think that DH hopes for a boy and that is why he'd rather not know, but he denies this. I'm not worried as I know that he is going to be crazy about the baby either way

Oeisha · 15/08/2011 20:49

Hey all!

Gz on the scans and gl for those awaiting theirs.

Feel much better today. No headache and no temp. I rarely have a temp, and it wasn't that high, so it could just be my IBS playing up (it's weird, but I get a very slight increase in temp when tum's not happy - just like a baby!). Have mentioned headaches to MW (at last apt) and she didn't seem all that bothered. If I get another bad one I will ring them. They're plain irritaing.

Still not all that fond of food. I'm eating as, well, you do, but it's just such bloody hassle. Eat -> feel crap for hours -> feel ok for an hour ----> have to eat again...

Can't wait for my scan (31st). Feels like forever away. End of the month also heralds loads of change at work (again...) and I just think I'm in denial about it all. I'm just that paranoid type I guess. I'm actually very good at coping with change, but prepare for the worst so I can be plesently surprised...

As for the sex of baby. As DH put it "I'll love it whatever it is, and I have no preference, but I know boys...the thought of a girl frightens the hell out of me".

Conchita · 15/08/2011 20:59

Oeisha, that's more or less how I feel about boys. Not frightened, but a bit of a mystery to me, being from a family of mainly women. I guess that having your own boy or girl is a very good education though!
