Right here's our new thread.

So who's going to be first for an early Christmas present then?

Morning all - We found books!!! Ended up with 7 from the second hand shop for only a fiver!! bargain! No more frustrated boredom for me!!
We had a lovely fluffy covering of snow by bedtime here(I was so excited!) but it's been drizzling all morning so no more. At least it'll be easier to walk in.

Chuffed - well done you!!! and congratulations on your lovely baby! Sorry to hear you had a bad time afterwards but glad all's well and you can enjoy Brook properly now.

Loomer - I'm sure you won't get bored now you've finished work - more MN time!!
The pool is fab isn't it. I'm going to get DH to put ours up so I can have a wet run over the weekend as we've only played with it dry so far. I've not been cleared for a home birth btw (but thanks for your knind thoughts). It's still going to be at hospital but the consultant has no objections to me using the pool (which I was told by the MW I couldn't use before) so it'll be a bit more like home.

Rach - The reflex points are on both ankles They're very close to other points so if you've trapped nerve pain in that area do you have problems with your hip/lower back? - massaging the area that hurts may help that too )

Humkermunker - bargain storage units!!! love the look of them too. Sadly, we haven't enough room for anything like that so will probably go for a bog standard box from Ikea.

iris66 · 30/12/2005 11:32

It'll be January in 2 days!!! [grni]

Tickle · 30/12/2005 11:34

Ooh Chuffed - just what you don't need after labour and birth, but sounds like they've been really thorough and it's all looking good from here So welcome to the world young master Brook Lovely name.

Thick snow here and sunshine, so dh has taken the 2 eldest sledging with some of the family... said I might have a bit too much momentum to be safe on a sledge

My mum seems to have some sort of sickness bug - she was up much of the night apparently and is still under a duvet - won't let me in the room in case I catch something
At least it will take her mind off wondering how I will get to hospital thru the snow, & how she will get to the airport next week - she's not the best traveller so starts stressing at least a week before she goes home Drives me mad! dh & I are both pretty laid back - to the point of being habitually late .

Still no movement on the bump front here, but the MW is hoping I can avoid New Year's Eve, as she has arranged to be out at friends on the night. I'm the only one due on the island... bit of a luxurious situation!

hunkermunker · 30/12/2005 13:34

Chuffed, congrats again - hard to believe the first January baby is here - where did the pregnancy go?! And yes, - January in two days time - eek!

Had my scan - waste of time that was Hospital protocol says they can't measure the growth again for a fortnight, so the fact I was booked for a scan after 10 days meant all she could do was check the blood flow through the cord. That was all fine though (amazing this technology stuff, isn't it?!) and baby's still head down, so that's good too. Have clinic appointment on 3rd January, when they'll fit me in for another scan if the consultant's worried about the growth seen so far. Another long day at the hospital, I think!

Still, at least they won't induce me over the New Year weekend - wasn't looking forward to that possibility!

Jaysfirst · 30/12/2005 19:19

wow chuffed has beaten some of the due in dec ladies i am now 40+2 and have a sweep bked on tuesday with an induction booked, if nothing has happened, on the 9th jan...i sooooo knew i was going to be a due in jan mum!

anyway, hope you are all good, i will have to read up on the thread to know whos who and whats what, forgive me if i dont get everyone straight away!

Happy new year to everyone if i am not about tomorrow.

J xxxx

Chuffed · 30/12/2005 22:12

How do I post a piccy again?
Waiting on midwife to come and check ds's bilirubin today.
dd has accepted ds quite well, bit clingy when I first got home but has basically just ignored him and as he is pretty quiet it is easy to do for her. She is too busy playing with all her new things she got for Christmas last night.

iris66 · 30/12/2005 22:36

Hi Chuffed How's it going? Are you feeling more like yourself now? Hope all's well with you & Brook and bet you're so glad to be home now. Thanks for getting your DH to post by the way - what a star.

Re photos - you could either put it on the Yahoo site (as you've piccies there anyway - there's a little "add a photo" link on the left of the screen) or put it on a new thread (I think you just copy & paste but I'm not sure) Hope there's someone else with more knowledge around !

hunkermunker · 30/12/2005 22:39

You can start a thread in Member Profiles to post a pic, Chuffed - please do! Can't wait to see the first January baby!

iris66 · 30/12/2005 22:40

well done hunker

lyra41 · 31/12/2005 07:34

mornin all

got all excited then thinking there might be a photo of Brook somewhere for me to have a look at! Can't wait! Take it easy Chuffed, hope you had a good nite last nite and that you're getting some decent sleep.

Talking of sleep - what's that? Had a cr@p nite last night, had terrible indig - overindulged in ds's yummy spag carbonara, and paid for it big time. i must've drunk about half the bottle of disgusting peppermint flavour gaviscon, all to no avail (usually one swallow or so works a treat), so it took ages to get to sleep. I was glad when the clock said 7am and it seemed like a reasonable time to get up.

still, a nice day to look forward to, with a swim and jacuzzi at the posh health club (it's included in the £5 class price), followed by the ante natal yoya class. looking forward to seeing eveyone again, and just getting back to some routine after the hols. not that the hols are over, but i find once xmas is done, i just want the kids back to school and life back to normal.

Rach
I think you're rite about 2 many naps in the day leading to poor sleep at nite, but it's difficult when you're knackered through the day isn't it. i think i'll be napping this pm, but i'll try to limit it to an hour or so.

went to visit a friend yesterday whose daughter (Isabel, 6lb 11oz) was born on xmas day. what a cutie, but soooo small! i'm just not used to them that little. she had a v long labour (52 hours!!!), but a good birth with no interventions, just LOTS of pain relief, which she said was fantastic. she couldn't believe i'd had no pain relief when i had dd, but all labours are so different aren't they, and you just don't know how you've gonna feel at the time. i just wanted to get on with it and keep walking around, and that seemed to work ok for me. hope it's like that this time. like you Rach, if i end up in hosp, i think i'll be going for an epidural if i can. altho i guess it'll be something of an emergency if that happens so there may not be time. if i go more than 2 wks over, i'm not sure if i'd have to have a hosp birth, i'll have to check that with the mw. i don't see why though, as long a lo's not in distress.

long post, sorry, but it's so early and really nice to have company!

hope you all slept better than me!

iris66 · 31/12/2005 09:28

Lyra - at your sleeplessness. Chick lit does it for me every time though(and I'm so glad I've a good stash now I'm on a Kathy Lette at the mo!) My problem is in the evenings when I seem to have an energy/nesting burst. I was soooo bored last night & couldn't think of anything to do from about 7pm. I eventually gave up wandering around at midnight & read for nearly 2 hours.
Is anyone else going to put some final bump pix on the Yahoo site ? I stuck one on of DD & me but have been inspired by yours Loomer so may get DH to take some more artistic ones.I particularly love the one of you sitting down -it's a beautiful picture.

Anyone going out to celebrate tonight? We're not (though I sort of wish we were now that I'm more awake at night!) DH mentioned going for a mooch round Sainsburys later to find something scrummy for a nice meal tonight. May see if they've any sparkly on offer too so that will be something lovely to look forward to.

lyra41 · 31/12/2005 11:01

Hi Iris

Know what you mean abt being bored in the eve's - i'm a bit like that too, ended up reading in bed rom abt 9pm, but would probably be better doing something a bit more active to tire me out, then reading. just finished a fab book case histories by Kate Atkinson.

i have taken some bump piccies, but yet to put them on the site, will get on with it soon.

we have a party to go to tonite, but i'm just going for an hour or so, and leaving dh to socialise if he feels like it. New Year isn't a big thing for me, i'm quite glad to have an excuse not to have to stay up late being sociable. i wd like dh to come home for midnight however, so we can see our baby's birth year in together and share a glass of bubbly. the kids are going to stay with my mum overnite, will take them later.

off for a swim now, laters. xxx

Rach69 · 31/12/2005 11:54

Whey hey, I slept last night! What a difference it makes - but a rarety these days - Lyra do you get heartburn at 5am too?

Can't wait to see Chuffed's piccys, we did the bump n boobs casting last night - absolutely hilarious to have fun with wet plaster. I think dp enjoyed himself a little too much with the vaseline though! My boobs look massive and I am demanding some plastic surgery on my left nipple which appears to be pointing south! I will take a pic with my phone and put it on yahoo later. Also got to have my second bath of the day - thanks for plughole tip Lyra - any overflow gets diverted to the dining room light fitting!

Dp has gone to an away match (about 2hrs away) - nothing like tempting fate! If only... it's a lovely day here and we should really go out but I can't face it on my own, think will leave it till tomorrow and try and finish up some work so I have a job to go back to in 7 months.

Have finally sorted out the nursery stuff - how scary! We have so much stuff and so blue! Dp mum bought most of it, I did ask for white - be a pain if it is a girl! Nearly packed my hospital bag, now that is scary! Have decided to be philosophical and not get uptight about things. No point wasting energy - I think I will accept a sweep after 41 weeks if favourable and I will accept induction after 12 days. If things progress nicely then great but if labour doesn't bode well I will have an epidural. I had forceps with just a poxy local and a difficult birth iwth ds2 with nothing at the end and I have to say I preferred the epidural with dd - more relaxed, more in control, a nicer experience all round. I've been reading about malpresentations and I wonder if dd's was caused by a massive fibroid I had - they told me it had disappeared during that pregnancy but maybe not. Trying to look forward to baby being here

Thanks for pressure tip Iris - will try that, no pain with hips or back yet but if my ankle doesn't get sorted I will have!

Jaysfirst - come on over here!

Hope you all have a great New Year if I don't come on again (unlikely as I am trying to do some work!). Just planning on curling up with dp - not a big fan myself.

Jaysfirst · 31/12/2005 12:13

Right here i am, def going to be a jan baby, whiCh is fine, DH wanted to have a baby in 2006 as his birth yr was 76, he says he now doesnt have a reason to forget how old she will be!

I have had a cpl of shows, nothing very intense, just clear jelly like substance ( sorry TMI) i have also been having sporadice cramp like pains in my abdomen and lower back, but as soon as it starts it finishes.... not going t hold my breath anymore i could start getting worked up but i guess i am only2days over, so i shouldnt complain too much! Going for a curry tonight with DH, bit like the last supper with him b4 baby comes, then we are going to a friends house, which is just round the corner, have put the hospital bag in the car just in case!!

Have the MW coming on Tuesday to do a sweep, and then if nothing has happened i am booked in for an induction on the 9th Jan...well thats about it from me, thought i would put you al in the picture as to where i am , i will have to read up on you guys now!
btw i am having a pink variety!

Tickle · 31/12/2005 13:00

Feeling so grumpy today! Poor dh doesn't know what to say, but he's never the best with me being emotional! Think I was really expecting baby to be here by now, as Clemmie was a week early, and I'm due on Monday. Really don't want a New Year's Day baby either - bit of a bummer to go thru life with a bday where everyone is knackered having partied the night before. {{{grump grump}}}

Know what you mean Lyra about New Year - never been a big one for compulsory socialising! We're invited over to dh's family, but I'm hoping to sneak away to put Clem to bed nice & early.

Happy New Year everyone! Sorry for such a moany post

Rach69 · 31/12/2005 14:08

Oh Tickle moan away! The great thing about mumsnet is that we all know exactly how you are feeling - I really do think it is harder being xmas and new year, all the normal routine gone and too much enforced togetherness!

I have posted my plaster bump pic on yahoo for anyone who wants a laugh! Still smarting over nipple droop By the way - Loomer you look fabulous and blooming, Iris - you and dd could be sisters!

Rach69 · 31/12/2005 14:09

Jaysfirst - enjoy your curry, I think we will join you - it is hard being overdue (I've spent nearly 6 weeks altogether just waiting...) enjoy your last moments on your own with dh, baby will be here before you know it!

Jaysfirst · 31/12/2005 14:25

wicked pic of your cast Rach ...what nipple droop! lol.....
what did you mean when you said you have been waiting for 6 weeks??? not for the bubs?

Think i might go and have a long hot bath, soak my ever aching bones and back.

Tickle · 31/12/2005 15:37

Had a snooze while the youngest was sleeping - feeling a bit more energetic, but not really in party mood!

Fantastic pic of the belly cast Rach Caught both my nipples doing the same thing the other day - just won't take my bra off in the next year once the bump isn't supporting them any more Nice to know they have put up a good fight for this long againt gravity and the rigours of childrearing tho See ya xx

iris66 · 31/12/2005 16:26

That belly cast is fab Rachey!!! are you going to decorate it or just have it plain? either way it really is gorgeous (and what nipple droop btw!?!) PS lol at the "sisters" comment...I love you I do

Tickle - I think we've all had a good moan or two lately (it's good for the soul - just let it all out) and don't apologise! You'll feel much better tomorrow I'm sure.

I'm obvioulsy one of the few round here that love New Year celebrations. Well, I normally do, but probably because it usually entails sorting a fancy dress costume out, boogying to v loud music and drinking far more than is healthy!! (I did try a little boogie to TOTP the other night but it hurt, and made me feel decidedly sick )

Jaysfirst - you never know, there's still a few hours of Dec left & that curry might do it lol at your DH using his birth year to remember your LOs age (but made me feel v old as mine is 66!!!)

Hope everyone has a wonderful evening! See you all in 2006!!

hunkermunker · 31/12/2005 16:38

Hi ladies and welcome to Jaysfirst - fingers crossed the curry does the trick

Am 38 weeks today but really want the baby to come before 40 weeks as I really don't want to be induced. Have got fresh pineapple (hang the blood sugar levels!) in the fridge and bought some clary sage oil today, so will give that a go too.

DS was ten days late, but the hospital are saying they don't want this one to go over 40 weeks and because the abdominal growth is less than it should be, I would rather have the baby on the outside than inside - we'd both be more comfy, I'm sure!

Also bought some arnica tablets today - took it last time, but not as often as I should've done - this time I will take it religiously. The cream's so amazing on bruising and I know the tablets help too.

Anyway, Happy New Year to everyone - I'm a total curmudgeon when it comes to NYE and loathe any kind of enforced jollity

(PS - can someone post the Yahoo group link again as I didn't save it - thank you!).

Mum2OneAndBump · 31/12/2005 17:02

Eshay · 01/01/2006 11:11

Happy New Year! This is it! It is now the year and the month that we are going to have our babies! I have 20 days to wait until my EDD but I am looking forward to hearing about everyone's stories about curries, pineapple, twinges and shows. I'm convinced nothing will happen here for ages, DS was very stubborn as well.

Welcome to all December ladies who have gone overdue. It's awful being late and having to wait but not much longer now. Hang in there!
