Hello good idea from tomcat

What are all your xmas tips and recipes or stuff you're doing to get you thru the next fewdays/weeks to EDD's

I going to try and make a stocking to hang in the nursery for when my little lewis comes home and for the first time bake a christmas cake.

OP posts:

Nemoinapeartree · 04/12/2005 23:30

mm we havent got codeine in only cocodamol..can I take that?

expatinscotland · 04/12/2005 23:34

That's what my midwife called it - cocodamol. Is it the same thing as paracetomol+ codeine, cuz she told me that was okay to take and that ladies w/severe SPD take it at our stage of pregnancy.

expatinscotland · 04/12/2005 23:35

She told me this yesterday, cuz my face is very puffy just now and quite painful to the touch.

Argggh. The things we ladies put ourselves through!

dramaqueen72 · 04/12/2005 23:35

no, serously nail varnish colour is important when this pg. infact anything you say is important is important!!LOL
freaking myself out with this quiet baby, it HAS moved this evening, just nowhere near as much as usual..seems i stop worrying about one thing and another pops up!
nemo!!! ow for your shoulder...........will a -totally nonmedical- hot compress/hot water bottle on it help? fab for any muscle aches I've had. mind you so much of me actually aches now I have given up, or would be covered in hot water bottles.......and would just like to point out I cant NORMALLY pick up a towel from the floor this shape!
dd2 has raved about santa for weeks, how much she loves him etc etc.then we saw him in town, arriving somewhere by horse and carriage and she HID from him!!!! so not spending money on taking her any really nice to see him now, but will visit the free or almost free ones in town....

expatinscotland · 04/12/2005 23:38

dq, is your baby's head engaged? the midwife says that movement often slows once baby's head is fully engaged. i'm only 1/5 engaged , but bump is most active at certain times of the day.

Nemoinapeartree · 04/12/2005 23:39

I was told I was 4/5 engaged at scan 2 wks ago but last week at mw appointment she said baby wasnt engaged so think mine pops in and out a lot..lol

dramaqueen72 · 04/12/2005 23:42

nope, mine wont engage..my third didnt until labour and apparently the more you have the less likely engagement is. its right down low 9some part of it, bottom or head!) but not engaged.

expatinscotland · 04/12/2005 23:44

That's it then. Other than Nemo, we're all going to be pregnant forever. I'm NEVER going to find Chanel Nail Varnish in 'Koala' and am going to morph into a marshmallow.

dramaqueen72 · 04/12/2005 23:48

oh cheer me up why dont you!?
i saw a fabulous deeeeeeeeeeeep twinkly purple nail varnish the other day. now cant remember who by or where....just KNOW i have to have it...
i will not be pg forever. -I have a much needed hair appointment wenesday, which is CERTAIN to mean i go into labour and cant go.

nemo, maybe you can sneak some of the induction drugs out after yours works and mail them to us????????

expatinscotland · 04/12/2005 23:50

Snap, dq! I was thinking, 'if the fairy godmother appeared to me as i attempted to sleep in an armchair at 3AM, i'd ask her to induce me. NOW'.

i made sure i had my hair cut and my highlights/lowlights topped up on friday. NO WAY i'm having bad hair. it's the only thing i can control anymore. i've broken out on my chest and back awfully, but not my face thankfully.

dramaqueen72 · 04/12/2005 23:56

funny expat last baby-dd2- i had skin break outs all the time. this one hardly any. (must be a boy this time!) however I ahve suddenly got really really dry to the point of being poorly skin and react to anything such as buttons/tags/metal rivets from clothes touching my skin ...weird OTT sensitive skin. ugh.
my hair isnt 'due' to be done for another two weeks but thought i might be pushing it by then!!! my hairdresser is already nervous about me sitting in the salon thsi pg and i admit part of me thinks what the heck will they do if I go into labour whilst the blonde highlights are at the green stage??? wash them off? leave them? follow me to hospital to finish them????...........................

ei23mistletoe · 05/12/2005 00:08

u still around dq?
i cant sleep my back is agony today!!

dramaqueen72 · 05/12/2005 00:10

just thinking of attempting to go to bed...but not there yet. sorry about your back...mine kills me after sleeping, and my hips hurt sooooooooo much after lying down i cant actually take a step again for a few moments after standing up. I'm so glamerous eh?

ei23mistletoe · 05/12/2005 01:23

i think were all at the 'glamourous' stage now!! im jus happy that the baby is comin soon then i can stop feelin like (an bein...) a house!!
iv been nice an busy this weekend!! i finally convinced dp to invest in a mantle piece an now hes goin on about a new fire to go with it!! yay progress is a beautiful thing dontcha think!!
DQ good luck for the scan!! keep us posted hope all goes well and you get the home birth you want!!xx

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 05/12/2005 06:08

Morning everyone. Gave up on a rubbish nights sleep at about 4.00 and have been watching crap TV since. Seems like I've had a hectic few days because everytime I do something I have have a bath to take away the pain, then sleep for a couple of hours!
Went for a walk yesterday and that just about finished me off.

I don't know if it is reading all of your comments but I really feel like this little one is ready to come out at any time (or maybe thats because I'm ready for it too ). Have any of you had an inkling when your previous babies were going to make an appearance?

I'm struggling for clothes too, even huge maternity clothes are too tight across my bump now. I'm off to my work Xmas party a week on Tues and I have a top but no bloody trousers. Can't find any that are comfy & nice.

DQ, I hope all goes well at your scan today & your little one has discovered that head down is the way forward.

sweetheart · 05/12/2005 09:18

Morning all - still here and STILL PREGNANT!!!

Ebbie - really glad your dd had a good birthday. I think generally babies do go a bit quiet just before labour but some don't.

DQ - GOOD LUCK with your scan today hun! Make sure to get back here asap and let us know how it went. I hope you get some good news so you can prepare for your homebirth!

So, I guess I have a 70% chance as of today then

Ninah - hope your ok hun. Let me know how things are with you - feel like I haven't spoken to you for ages!

I've got quite a busy day today lunch with friends then I'm going to dd's dress rehersal just encase I can't make the performance tomorrow evening. I'm going to squeeze some revision in to - you never know I might still make it to the exam. Well, thats if I don't suddenly go in labour (wishful thinking here!!!)

Hope everyone else is doing OK. Scully - hows mat leave treating you?

speak to yoy all later
SH 40 + 1

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 05/12/2005 10:06

SH, you are still so cheery - how do you do it??? Don't overdo it will you.

Dozed off again at 7.00 for a few hours so feel much brighter now. Going to finish my Xmas shopping today I think & search for the elusive trousers again.

sweetheart · 05/12/2005 11:02

I think I might have had a show - anyone know if they can be compleatly clear???

I went to the loo and when I wiped (sorry TMI) I had a massive blob of clear discharge - could it be a show??????

What do we think ladies?

expatinscotland · 05/12/2005 11:07

I had BEAUTIFUL skin and hair whilst preggo w/DD. I think it was the extra oestrogen. ANY type of androgen and I break out. My hair is like a greasepit.

Hmm.

GO SH! Someone HAS to have a baby on this board!

DQ - good scan vibes.

Nemoinapeartree · 05/12/2005 11:10

morning all
george...with ADam I constantly felt like I was going to give birth and had a few scares about waters going from 32wks..hoever he held on in there till 42+1..lol

DQ again hope scan goes well and you get your homebirth

SH poor you I hated going past due date with Adam by 41wks I was convinced he would never come out..lol Am sure your little man is just being stubborn.

hope everyone else is ok.
I didnt sleep too well again last night but thats normal now!!! However fell asleep at about 5.30am and adam didnt get up till 8am which he has done the past 3 mornings so thats a bonus compared to his summer wakings of 5am..lol Not got a lot planned apart from maybe some ironing if shoulder is up to it.

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 05/12/2005 11:12

Oooh, SH, sounds like it. I'm sure I was told that they can be clear.

Expat I've got the opposite problem with straw hair. It just looks dead (well, I guess it is!!). I have a hair appointment booked for Wed, does that mean I will go into labour early then?

Any news from Mouseman at all?

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 05/12/2005 11:14

I guess I will just have to patient then Nemo. Just hoping I guess with the head engaged & everything feeling like it's dropped. I just don't want to give birth to a 10 pounder!!

MINNIE1 · 05/12/2005 11:41

Morning all,

[[[[hugs]]]]]]to all feeling down... Were nearly there.. Have a feeling i will be going into Jan before this buba comes! DP thinks that would suit perfect!! ya honey you dont have to give up your body for 9 months so shut the F up!! was my response...

SH,
That could have been the plug, Was there any streks of blood?

Have hospital app today, cant wait to see what they say. feeling a little dizzy today weird feeling.

Have only 4 days to go till start maternity! yahooooo o how i cant wait!

dramaqueen72 · 05/12/2005 12:06

calling in to say..........

we have a heads down baby. i have a home birth coming ladies!!!

the scan was really quick and over in minutes.....the baby looked HUGE. I am hoping its just i have never seen a scan this late on and NOt that its 10lbs in there!!

i'm in a really funny mood, abit off with everyone and everything, and also off my food.(even cake! NOT like me)
please tell me this is 'very early' labour, cause I'm ready now......any moment now my midwife is due with my 'home birth box'

s/h yes, shows can be clear, usually -IME- the clear bit comes away first and the next bit is likely to be pinky or brown but only slightly. so um........I'm thinkging its a GOOD sign for labour, but not poss for your exam......

sweetheart · 05/12/2005 12:06

Minnie - No, no streaks of blood - which is why I'm wondering if it was a show or not!!

Good - wish it was just straight forward!
