Hello good idea from tomcat

What are all your xmas tips and recipes or stuff you're doing to get you thru the next fewdays/weeks to EDD's

I going to try and make a stocking to hang in the nursery for when my little lewis comes home and for the first time bake a christmas cake.

JAY - what a relief I thought I was going mad or being unreasonable -DH is on sofa and I've just went thru the whole situation again 'worrying my little bit head about it' as he says. I must just let DH handle this one and he's explained how he will text this one and that one at various times with a standard message and personlised messages (bloody hell).

I would rather I have visitors of main people at hospital so wen we get home its just about us three (everyone else can wait)

  • I suppose it will be like everything else to do with this preg business - things aren't always going to go to plan and expect the unexpected! Its a very personlised affair

Just had further speculation from DH certain people might just delay visiting if he comes xmas day or boxing day.

Morning all,

well i had an almighty headache last night so disappeared off to bed at 8pm. Dh woke me at 11pm to tell me that FINALLY someone had asked nan what she wanted to do and she will be here from 23rd till 28th! ABOUT BLOOMING TIME, apparently his sister isnt very happy but tough!! So im happy with that decision!
Feel really tired this morning again despite going to bed early. Dh last day at work today! Its been so nice the past few days as all his staff in his shop have been sending home gifts, every night he has come in with pink bags! So sweet of them!
Am off out today to a toddler group party, last chance to see all my friends before baby arrives! HOW WEIRD IS THAT!!
Am so glad i dont have the waiting game like alot of oyu, its definately nice knowing when Alex will arrive and being able to plan for it. Makes life a whole lot easier regarding childcare etc.
Hoping to get some news from nemo by 5pm! lets hope its a fast delivery for her!!

Jaysfirst · 15/12/2005 08:56

no i wasnt abducted by aliens...sorry to leave you in the lurch like that BBE, i decided that i wanted to have a bath..so of i went and had a bath , just about fell asleep in it too, thought better of it , seeing as though i didnt want to drown!

i thikn theres always going to be issues surrounding families, nothing ever seems to go right, but why dont you do as DH says and just let him organise it, you shouldnt be stressing!

Bonkerz, have fun at yr toddlers group, it is strange when you say you wont be seeing someone till after the arrival, i had that last weekend when i was in nottingham!

Nothing to do today either, might see if i can book in to have a pregnancy massage at the gym, DH joined a cpl of weeks ago, i have every intention of joining after the birth, ( might be a yr after the birth, but my intentions are there!!) well they do all kinds of nice body treatments and alternative treatments specific for pregnant ladies, have been dropping hints to DH seeing if he will surprise me and book it, alas hes the type that will do it if you ask him to , no questions , and pay for it, but not quite the type to take it upon himself to do it without me knowing...some yrs in training is needed me thinks!!

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 15/12/2005 09:21

Morning everyone,
Jay, I've been thinking about booking something like that too. I think we all need a bit of pampering at the moment.

I haven't really had any issues with my family at all about the baby. Maybe I should be worried that they are all so relaxed about it!!
Dp has suggested that we see no-one for the first week and just have the time as us & the baby but I suspect we won't quite be able to manage that!

Glad you got things sorted about Christmas Bonkerz - why is it so complicated sometimes.

DQ, had to laugh when I read your washing machine has gone now!!! Is that a full set of household appliances between us now? I do hope that it stays fixed for you & isn't another complete casualty.
I'm with you on the birth being the only thing I'm thinking of. Can't wait for things to kick off now as I'm sick of being immobile for most of the time. Do you think I can get the mw to do me a sweep early? Might ask her this afternoon.

Well DSSs nativity was wonderful & he was great in it so we sat there like proud parents taking pictures & filming him. Children singing is just the best at Christmas.

I have my bf and her 3½ month old coming to stay today which should be lovely. Can't wait to see them both.

Sending some easy labour vibes Nemos way.

dramaqueen72 · 15/12/2005 09:36

morning morning...
george. PMSL!!!!!!! a week without visitors? yeah dont we all wish!! I hope you get some time...but trust me so many people appear -one after the other- the moment you get home. we get a sign made up saying 'do not disturb. Mummy and new baby sleeping' and hang it on the front door everyso often......even then you'd be amazed how many people think that doesnt mean them........ get dp trained now to set a limit to visitors, as in so many or each for so long, which sounds abit crazy and strict right now, but you MUST look after yourself and rest loads afterwards. my dh is fabulous for herding people out the door
wonder how nemos getting along?
re sweeps, they are quite uncomfy, and nothing is 'certain' after them, so if you dont need one, and arent quite at slitting your wrists stage, dont have one. i know I am aching, and my back has totally fallen apart here, but I LOVE the surprise of when. love it being 3am or something 'magical' and special, babies do come when they are ready for lots of good reasons IMO.....(of course if theres any risk to baby or you go seriously overdue then thats different and theres lots they can do)
can you believe its christmas next week????? hasnt it snuck up fast the last bit? I nearly died when my dr said something about being due next week. its so close to christmas and I had bearly noticed!!!! its mother nature making me focus on the just the birth, shes done a great job!!!!
oh lots of ladies who couldnt sleep......neither could I, had lots of photoshop editing to do tho so thats where i was. hope you got/get some rest. nightmare when we should be stocking up on it now!!!
am waiting a parcel from USA today, from my dearest friend, its always soooooooooooooooooo lovely and full of goodies. cant wait. (am big kid)
I think we should start a new thread soon, this ones huge!!
anyone heard from scully..........I'm starting to think shes had her baby........

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 15/12/2005 10:02

I know exactly what you mean about Christmas sneaking up. I was talking to DP yesterday about the arrangements for the kids over Christmas and asked him when it was. I've just totally missed the fact that it is in just over a weeks time even though I know exactly when my due date is!!!
I am obsessed with this baby!!!

Think Ei has vanished again too!!

dramaqueen72 · 15/12/2005 10:07

its okay we're meant to be obsessed, we're the mummies actually read last night, in junior pg and baby mag that some hormone (I will go look it up if you want.just cant rememeber off the top of my head) MAKES us see everything else as distant and irrelevant. had to read that bit out to dh....
guess what I'm about to start? my complicated blind fitting??????????????????KNEW it would be me who (tried to) got it done. wish me luck!

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 15/12/2005 10:17

Right, might have to go up & have a go at fitting mine then!!

Good luck!!!

scully · 15/12/2005 10:37

I'm still here.....just taking forever to do anything these days (including reading this thread!), with my little shadow permanently at my side
Can't remember who was saying what about families, but there are benefits to living in a different country as your family I could have done with some family visits at around week 3, before that we were very glad we could just get on and figure things out ourselves, without 101 opinions, however well meaning. But as they get older is lovely having everyone around, that's where dd has missed out a bit.
Feeling fairly organised around the house, just the usual jobs I want dh to do that haven't been done for the past few weeks
Honestly, I managed to come home from work and still run a house, after doing the nursery run - he is getting dropped of and picked up from the station, with dinner cooked for him and he still can't get off his a**e and do anything - grrrr
How's everyone else feeling today?

sweetheart · 15/12/2005 10:40

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks for the cards I have received.

DQ - was your home made? If it was it's very professional looking. Lovely - thank you!!!!!!

dramaqueen72 · 15/12/2005 10:47

but of course sweetheart!!

babygibbon · 15/12/2005 11:50

Hello and good morning! Drifted off to sleep at about 5am and then ten mins later our dog was sick and whining until 6am but it's DD's last day in nursery so have had a bit of a lie in and DH has been very good this morning. He's works in a school so it's his last day tomorrow, can't wait to have him at home for a while.

Anyway, on with my signs and symptoms. No braxton hicks or visible dropping of bump but do have the runs (sorry if TMI!) and some pelvic pain (possible slight movement downward of baby???) I was like this last time, obsessed with every little sign, but she still had to be induced! Anyone else having signs?

DQ I have to disagree about the sweep! My next midwife appt is a week today (a day or two before 40 weeks) and I'm going to beg for a sweep! It is uncomfy (I had two last time...) but will only bring on labour if baby is ready, so worth a go imho.

Re mums. First time ladies please please please don't make the mistake I did last time of agreeing to too many people visiting. I gave birth on Friday night, was out Saturday and then had mum, step dad, dad, step mum, their three kids and brother all visit for an entire day on Sunday (we have a tiny terraced house!). I was exhausted after 36 hour labour and it just drained me. I wish I'd told them all to bugger off. It wasn't planned like that but they all phoned at the last minute and I was too high to say no.

The reason I have to be more relaxed about my mum is things have changed this time, MIL lives abroad, my dad will be skiing which automatically means they can't visit for a few weeks, phew! And although I'd rather my mum left us alone for a bit too, I know she won't so might as well get it out of the way and then we can get on with being us.

Come on out baby! If it comes out this weekend or early next week, we can go up to London for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day without all this hassle!

Thanks for reading all my waffle - it was great middle of the night therapy!

dramaqueen72 · 15/12/2005 12:27

babygibbon, well I'm glad you got some sleep. evn if not alot! and i'm willing that baby here for you in time for the christmas trip......
I hope you wont be needing that sweep!

Jaysfirst · 15/12/2005 14:25

have just scoffed three huge doorstop size pieces of cocnut and almond cake that i made this morning...lol gorgeous!!
on the setee now watching des and mel, drifting of for some deserved sleep!

Hope everyone is ok, wonder how nemo is!!!!!!!

bonkerz · 15/12/2005 14:34

Ok call me mad but ive decided that today is a good day to paint DS bedroom! have just moved stuff and am about to open the paint! Still no text from nemos Dh so assume all is going well!!

OK am off now for 2 hours of painting!!

babygibbon · 15/12/2005 14:37

Oh bonkerz I wish I had your energy. I've got so much to do but feel pants today - completely drained. I'm torn between making myself get on with it or going to bed to make the most of what precious time I have left on DDs last day in nursery!

Sod it. I'm going to bed with a good book. There's always time to clean later...

bonkerz · 15/12/2005 17:14

HAve finished painting DS bedroom!!!!! Not the best job in the world but is definately better than the pink walls he did have! Got to go pick DS up from friends house then can start rearrangeing furniture!! HAve been having BH for the past half hour! Had 4 already OR maybe im in labour

bigbaubleeyes · 15/12/2005 20:43

Blood hell Bonkerz I can't manager to muster the energy to paint three doors!

DQ after dipping in out of this thread for the past four months i have got to say your detailed posts and plethora of advice never ceases to amaze me you should write a book women and charge premium prices for being a doula!

though DQ i can't resist getting my sweep

.....and Good luck with blinds ladies

Jayfirst - I was asleep by the time you finished your bath and stayed asleep solid all day until after 5pm goodness I'm addicted! Well DH is making sausage and mash with token frozen veg.

My Christmas cake is at a crtical stage now as I've eanten half the marzipan and some of the royal icing - mince pies long gone!!!

VISITORS - I think we will be sticking to our guns and if you can't be a little selfish and cosied up together at a time like this when can you be? We've decided only three visitors at hospital and noe for the first two weeks - we will visit my mam for sure and others IF we feel up to it as and when we are ready.

Finger joints are very painful today adn wish down below wud give me a sign just so I know its even thinking about getting ready for this birth - no BH or stuff - or should I be grateful

expatinscotland · 15/12/2005 20:57

No babies?!

Anyone heard how from Nemo yet?

DD was up from 2AM-7AM in a nonstop feeding, awake marathon. We're trying to keep her up just now in vain hopes that she'll at least sleep 3/4 of an hour between 2-7.

flutterbeedreaminofawhitexmas · 15/12/2005 21:02

Any Nemo shaped baby news yet???????

bonkerz · 15/12/2005 21:17

No news from NEMO yet im afraid! Her Dh is meant to be texting me with the news so i guess i will sleep with my mobile tonight! Am really hoping for her sake that she has had the baby by now. if not i bet she is exhausted!! Will sign on as soon as i recieve that text!!!

scully · 15/12/2005 21:51

Can't wait to hear Nemo's news, did she know what she was having? Getting quite nervous now, with the possiblity of the baby coming at any time (due date is Sat....) Hadn't really hit me until last night and I woke up at 4am and couldn't go back to sleep..... Although it's number 2, this is my first possible 'normal birth' so have the nerves of a 1st time mum there, plus my friend with a 2wk old and 18mth old is finding it all tough at the moment, so I don't think visiting her is doing my confidence any good either right now.
Have booked the car in to get cleaned inside and out tomorrow morning, so we'll see if I make the appt!
Bonkerz, painting , definitely not happening in this house, that's for sure
Good idea with the visitor limits bbe, you'll regret it later if you don't.

bigbaubleeyes · 15/12/2005 21:55

Thanks for reassurance Scully

Though I'd also pop a post on re Nemo 'hope all is well and we all hear gud news soon'

I hope this adds to the PMA of this enternally active thread and all the well wishes and support on it good vibes to NEMO!
