Hello good idea from tomcat

What are all your xmas tips and recipes or stuff you're doing to get you thru the next fewdays/weeks to EDD's

I going to try and make a stocking to hang in the nursery for when my little lewis comes home and for the first time bake a christmas cake.

Hi Laides,

George is 1 MONTH OLD TODAY

Ebbie - I have Cat you with my address hope that you got it.

Ei - Can't believe you haven't had the baby I was soooo hopefull for you.

My Mum has just told me that my Auntie Esther who was due a week or so ago has been given Tuesday as a date for the baby, but they have also told her it will be a C-section as the baby appears to be over 9lb and she is sooooooooooo tiny, I'm so excited for her.

Everybody make sure you look after yourselves and even though I know you won't enjoy them really do try to enjoy your last few days of being pg part of me actually misses it

flutterbeedreaminofawhitexmas · 11/12/2005 13:55

OOOOOPPPSSS SORRY GOOD LUCK SLAPPAWAPPA.

scully · 11/12/2005 16:10

Well crap day here today, have spent most of it in tears or feeling furious at the world....dh isn't helping by sitting on his a**e most of the day rather than possibly doing a few things to help me, then wonders why I am cross
Tells me he's under pressure too, and that everything doesn't revolve around me - I quickly corrected him that at 39wks, everything does revolve around me and he would do well to remember that occassionally
Anyway, peace seems to have returned for now but I'm still less than impressed with what he hasn't done.....
Hope everyone else is having a better day
Also like the Junior mag dq, does seem to have better articles than the other ones, that aren't rehashed every few months.

bigbaubleeyes · 12/12/2005 00:05

Eee deary me every ones cleaning and stuff - can feel the busyness over the web!

SCULLY - IKWOM re DH's After being up to 'silly o'clock' last nite and sleeping most of today my DH compained he felt he had no wife - despite him being at band practice and a nite on town yesterday (as if he'd been locked away with no life) and furhter more he has been suffering from ongoing tummy problems as a result of taking anti inflamitry (oops!) drugs - I mean the man thought he was dying - I've ended up getting very cross with him and having little sympathy - this culminated in me attending his doctors appointment ans speaking to his doctor directly honestly!!! Pathetic!!!! Did I mention the three doors that need glossing and two blinds that need hanging?

Anyway a cushion and plenty of chocs and sweets allowed me to get thru Narnia at pics 2nite and Catherine Cookson is on UKDrama soon so i hope to avoid the boredom of lastnite.

Hi all,
Lovely day on Sat visiting my parents. DQ, I'm another one who has said goodbye until after we have the baby - very strange!
Finishing off nursery bits & bobs yesterday (although the bloody blind is still not up).

You guys are so nesting. I've got so much to do I'm hoping mine kicks in soon.

Wonderful news from Expat. All these quick births, hope I'm as lucky.

I've woken up starving hungry so off to eat some croissant (yummy!!)

bigbaubleeyes · 12/12/2005 08:05

Morning - any overnight news ladies? Hope you are all well as can be expected

QUESTION 1: Experienced mummies - did you practice the breathing techniques for your first labour, you hear so much about, but were barely mentioned at our 4X2hr parent craft classes - should i be practicing sumthing? ALL ADVICE WELCOME.

Well i missed Catherine cookson but woke up at 3.30 am so ive read book and wrapped xmas presents. In two minds as to goto local retail park and buy last minute bits for hospital bag.

QUESTION 2: I find driving ok still - should i still be driving?

Santa G - I think we'll have to have a visiting cut off point cos all of a sudden people are wanting to visit us when I'm frantically trying to finish my bits of house stuff and wind down to focus on birth - which I'm getting scared about now (hospital bag 2m away from me )

dramaqueen72 · 12/12/2005 08:43

morning ladies glad youre home safe george. my blinds stil not up either,,,,,LOL. have one 'last' shopping trip today to get feeding bras, dhs last gift and few other bits....cant believe dd2 and i are ready to go already this morning... with the hours I've been keeping am not an early dressed and washed kinda person anymore
bigeyes, dont panic, you'll be fine, your body was made to do this yes personally deep breathing -nothing fancy, just in thro your nose and slowly out thro your mouth- really really helps me during labour, gives me something to focus on when it hurts.....and it must work as I havent had any pain relief during labour, aside from trying gas and air the very first tme. dh has to kinda 'make' me look at him and breath with me, to help me concentrate. he says later he feels abit silly at first but once labour kicks off hes right into helping me thro the contractions. but thats just me, whatever you find works for you, is the 'right thing' just try changing positions and breathing first -you never know.
as for driving, thats fine, you shouldnt drive if in labour (well trust me you CANT drive in labour!!) nor after a c-section. but right now as long as you feel in control, can still reach the peddals its fine. gives me a nice sense of independance and normality in these weird last few days/weeks. Hth.

bigbaubleeyes · 12/12/2005 08:52

Thanks DQ - Nursing bras are what I'm off to get for hospital - though someone said you shouldn't buy these till after birth as boobs change, but they are on checklists in mags. I also want a new hairbrush (ashamed of my current one it looks like a dulux dog has been using it ) i am a clean person honest!

I too am not accustomed to being dressed etc until i need to go out or someone is visiting - I am an expert in wearing pj's - I have even picked DH up from work wearing them when I've slept right thru day goodness knows how I will cope when i have second one - all you dec mummies with little ones already have my upmost respect.

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 12/12/2005 09:09

Buy 'em after birth! My boobs have slightly deflated. I just picked up a few yesterday on the way home from hospital.

Get some Lansinoh cream, too!

Roisin is feeding well, but she wants to co-sleep. It's the only way she'll settle.

She likes swaddled. She just took a huge feed, so she's sleeping in her car seat - she likes that - whilst DD1 watches 'Tweenies'.

expatinscotland · 12/12/2005 09:10

I'm REALLY glad I got my hair cut last week in a style that looks good even if you don't have time to blow dry style it. Makes a world of difference, as does tinted moisturiser.

bonkerz · 12/12/2005 09:16

ARGH, friend of mine just told me i should ask DH to help shave my privates before section on monday otherwise will have to attempt it myself!! YIKES
Expat, congrats on your little girl! Hope the hormones and body aches calm down soon. I remember the tummy pains and painful groin area like it was yesterday hence why c/section pain doesnt seem so bad, atleast i will get strong pain killers!

Nothing much planned here today just sleep but i know the minute i get into bed the parcels i have been waiting for wil be delivered! Got quite a busy week though so am hoping it will go fast and before i know it it will be monday again and i will have my little girl!

bigbaubleeyes · 12/12/2005 09:31

EXPATS - thanks got cream, still going shopping even though I don't really need to!

Awwwwe for your little one I want it to be my turn! (aha note last post full of worry about labour etc)

OP posts:
bigbaubleeyes · 12/12/2005 09:36

Bonkerz - I'm going to have to do the same re fuz as my DH mentioned it the other day when I tried on my tankini in prep for using birthing pool at hospital. I'm also having my sister in law ,who is doing a nail technichan course, give me a pedicure which i've always DIY'ed and only in the summer months in the past.

I know everyone says you won't be bothered at the time - but if it makes us feel better prepared why not?

OP posts:
Jaysfirst · 12/12/2005 09:36

morning all! Am back in the land of pergnant ladies!

Have had a brief run through of posts but since thursday theres toooo many!

Congratulations to expat, i havnt read birth post but read you had a quick one, fingers crossed this time line carries on for the rest of us!

Someone mentioned stiff knuckles.....well i went to docs last week with many complaints...one of these was my fingers hands and joints....its carpel tunnel syndrome, the fluid build up accumulates around the joints and nerves causing all these pains, mine started about about 10 days ago. Now i cant feel any of my fingers in both hands, bar my little ones its like pins and needles and is sooooo sore, so that coupled with the joints being so stiff i feel like they are going to snap...its not good, still i am counting the days now till i regain my body....

Whilst am moaning, SPD is now so bad i cant even sleep on any side, have to sleep on back sitting up with a hundred pillows behind me. I get about 3 maybe 4 hrs then thats it, have to move which then causes excruciating pain and the only relief i get is geting up, so completely exhausted...

on a lighter note i had a lovely weekend. Went to Nottingham to see all my family and friends, my grandparents are so looking forward to being great grandparents, and have bought some lovely things, including the cutest little frog stool ( for when shes a bit older of course) all wodden and handmade from a wee shop in the sticks! visited my dad and his wife also, again came away with lots of bags of pressies, everyone has bought her christmas pressies, just in case she arrives early! Then on sat night i went round to my friends house on the assumption it was a surprise for her hubbys bday, and in fact it was a baby shower for me!!!! had lots of cake and some champagne, along with even more pressies for the baby, and some for me too! turned into a really good night with kareoke and party games!

Bit of a mare drive back though, what with the fire at HEMEL. The M1 was shut so our journy was re routed and took over four hours to get home rather than the two ish it would normally take, so i was stiff as a board when we finally got home !

Not sure what to do today, have mums and bumps this afternoon, but after waking at three and not getting any sleep since i dont know if i should just take it easy...will see how i feel.

Well i hope that everyone is ok, i will try and read up on the posts, so forgive me if i am rude and havent commented on anything significant. x

scully · 12/12/2005 09:38

Well dh and I had another argument last night but sorted ourselves out by about 8pm He's going to behave himself and get a few things that I can't actually do, but we'll see....
His b'day today so I have to be nice anyway
Was up at 6am to do his breakfast and lunch and take him to the station so by 8am needed a rest on the sofa whilst dd watched Dora and Fifi. Might try and make it out of the house by 10.30am, but just to take dd to the park and visit 2 shops, getting too tired and irritable if I do much more than that.
I also think it's still ok to be driving bbe, just not long distances. I get cabin fever even when I am feeling tired, so to be housebound would do my head in.
Maybe buy 1 or 2 bras now and another couple after your milk has come in, as you will probably be enormous for a while once that has happened - something to look forward to
So I wonder who will be this week??

ebbie22 · 12/12/2005 09:47

Morning all, congrats to expl, though you were early.....I am OVERDUE,and scared.....dd has nursey indution today and this household is finally getting better,so pls baby you can be born now...lol

Hope all is well over here xxx

bigbaubleeyes · 12/12/2005 09:50

Jay - have my complete empathy - my achey finger joints don't sound as bad as yours, but I too can only sleep for 3/4hrs at a time - I just keep telling myself its gud prep for all those feeds for my little lewis - who is still causing me rib pain so i too have an intricate method to get the pillows absolutely correct so as to optimise chance of falling asleep and god help DH if he doesn't bring down correct pillow

I am sleeping on sofa which i've got to say DH has been gud about as he sleeps on the other sofa so I am not left on my own - (sweetest thing he's done throughout preg)

Jay what a lovely suprise from your friends

Scully

I'm just gonna buy the dam things - I can always take em back! Hope you and DH enjoy a bday nite? anything special planned?

Yeah I'm definately not driving long distances and for the most part I have somone else in car with me (get car sick when DH drives or is it a control thing Think you're v energetic getting out and about gud 4 u

Ebbie - fingers crossed have you tried anything? Take care

OP posts:
scully · 12/12/2005 10:02

bbe, I think I'm mad most of the time and wish I could just sit and do nothing for long periods of time - I have friends who have mastered the art very well
Oh well, soon I shall be sitting and feeding for a long periods of time, whilst trying to entertain a 3yr old, so should probably get out of the house now, before it becomes even more of a military operation
That's true, you can always return the bras, or get dh to - pay with cash not card so he can do it for you. He might not mind an excuse to escape the house for half an hour afterwards
Still haven't made it to the shower yet, but this is good practice for afterwards as well
Ebbie, hope things happen for you soon - when were you due? Is your dd starting at nursery today?
