Hello good idea from tomcat

What are all your xmas tips and recipes or stuff you're doing to get you thru the next fewdays/weeks to EDD's

I going to try and make a stocking to hang in the nursery for when my little lewis comes home and for the first time bake a christmas cake.

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 10/12/2005 09:33

Is a due date a bit like your birthday, you are allowed to lounge about all day doing nothing but eating chocolate and being spoilt???

I think that should be your plan Ebbie.

scully · 10/12/2005 09:34

Sounds like a healthy household ebbie
Wonder how ei is going? I made it to dd's concert yesterday and all the little sheperds and angels sang beautifully Had a midwife appt afterwards, where dd asked her 100 questions, but midwife is v nice and answered all of them
Baby is still head down and 3/5ths engaged, so heading in the right direction still. Heartbeat was between 137-140, how does that fit in for what sex it is?
Went to friends for dinner last night, very enjoyable and relaxing but wasn't feeling overly comfortable and thought something might be happening overnight, but all back to normal this morning so must have just been moving around some more, getting ready......
dh is playing golf this morning, but him and his 2 friends have their phones on, just in case....
2 trees dq, I was flat out doing one

ebbie22 · 10/12/2005 09:40

morning scully,i wish it was like a bday but not in this household,dh is too ill to run the mill of things,if i can have a bath in peace will be well happy.....

still things could be worse.......lol

Nemoinapeartree · 10/12/2005 10:17

morning all

Ebbie ooo pains in side it may be you could be one of the lucky ones who actually deliver on their due date!!!

Scully bless your daughters play. Arent the pains that turn to nothing sooooooo annoying!! I have been getting them all this week and am wound up by them.

DQ lol at not going 10mins past door. I am the opposite and try to tempt fate by planning to be out all day etc..lol Although I do have the car to get back if i need to...saying that just got an image of driving while in labour..

George bending for dishwasher is a nightmare isnt it..lol Have to try and catch up with the housework today even though I am not in the mood.

well have packed hospital bag just need to put in another towel and some slippers then I am ready..eek. Ohh and need to do phone number list for dh. Have to do a load of washing and drying, finish last of xmas cards so I can clean off the dining table. Dishwasher and clean bathroom...sigh why does the housework not stop once you get to 38wks pregnant . I am 39+1 today and at this time in 5 days I will be in labour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dramaqueen72 · 10/12/2005 10:57

morning ladies...
another night of omg type pains and nothing came of them, youre right VERY annoying!! dont care how much it hurts if its doing something, but to stop.........
just tidied airing cupboard. wow. not done that since we moved i think!! found lots of old white sheets, another thing ticked of my homebirth list!
scully, we have two trees this year, 'downsized'from one eight footer that you have to kinda edge round (not ideal this shape!) as it takes the whole hall, to one four footer on a table and one cute mini one in the sitting room. bit of a nightmare actually, one is blue spruce and I reacted to everywhere it prickled me!! have rash across bump and hands obviously lifting them, dressing them, getting decorations up was too much for me and I was abit of a wreck. nice easy day today I think!!! dd2 and I are making handprint reindeers dd1 is dancing to christmas songs and ds has gone round a friends. dh is calling me every hour or so 'how are you feeling'....... keep telling him I'll ring you darling (now bugger off
ebbie due date? wow, I hope you all get better before this small one arrives tho. and I am missing so many dec girls checking in, ninah, babygibbon, yellow, jays, minnie.....oh everyone really! NEED to know we are all okay.
george, I have big kids for loading dishwasher but am struggling with the tumbledryer and washing machine....but desperately trying to keep up with the washing.
dh was excited last night realising that his two week paternity leave will coincide with christmas, working in retail hes never had al of christmas off!! I must be losing it alittle because all I could hear when he said that was 'after two weeks I'm back at work you you will have four children by yourself!' SCARY. I hope my anti-d's really work fast!!
backache this morning. fingers crossed a productive backache...LOL
all I have to do is 'miss' my sisters birthday (monday) so I think I may have tempted fate....

bonkerz · 10/12/2005 11:00

morning all,

just trying to catch up!
Went out last night and got treated like royalty! Went for curry with 25 other childminders and all of them are older and wiser than me and were dispensing advice and mummying me which was really nice. Alex got nicknamed 'baby jesette' and tummy kept getting patted and rubbed! Rather amusing especially when at the end of the night i was sober and they were so out of it! Will definately have some stories to tell them at toddler group next week!

Realised today is our last day technically as a family of 4. Dh working tomorrow and then DS and DSD are off to MIL next weekend till Aelx is born on the monday! So we are marking the occassion with a nice pub lunch, very strange thinking we will be 5 next time we do this!

Hope its good news from Ei and Scully thats a low heartbeat so my guess would be BOY!!!!
Hope you are all OK today and not too fed up. Personally i believe that from 37 weeks we should ALL just stop, put our feet up and eat chocolate but it never happens does it!

Nemoinapeartree · 10/12/2005 11:02

DQ lol at your dh and his xmas off that is exactly what dh has said to me. He actually goes back in on the 1st jan so said aww new year and you with 2 tots...arghhhhhhhh..lol

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 10/12/2005 11:56

Must have a few hormones racing through me today. I've gone all gooey at the thought of handprint reindeers

You ladies are all so brave. I'm stressing at the thought of being left alone with 1 baby let alone with toddlers / teenagers in tow.

I'm another one cleaning the house today. Can't bear the dust any more so have given it a quick clean before we leave for our Christmas outing. At least I know it won't be too bad when I get home.

Hope you all have a good day.

dramaqueen72 · 10/12/2005 13:07

ladies nice to hear from some of you. anyone hear from kangel lately? shes due on the 12th IRC.....I wish we were all in touch more, now we're having babies i want to know how everyone is!!!
george, have cut out reindeers and stuck on antlers.....they are v cute this time next year you can make some!!! have a good trip away hun and dont have him/her til you get back!!!
bonkerz meal out sounds nice, tho I dont know if i can get comfy enough to sit still and eat!! I am picking rather than eating properly you know? talking of which I havent even made the dd's lunch yet. bad mummy, better go do that.
nemo, we will be fabulous in the new year with our bigger families......few weeks time we wont even remember life before them.......

scully · 10/12/2005 16:28

dh left the house just after 9am to play golf this morning and still isn't home I know my hormones aren't helping, but I don't expect him to disappear all bloody day, for a meal and beer after the game - grrr, whilst I go to an NCT sale looking for a few Xmas presents for the baby because he's only just started work again
Think I have low blood sugar as I haven't had much to eat today so that isn't helping my mood, neither is the faulty battery connection on our car which means almost every time I try to start it, it doesn't start so I have to get out of the car to fiddle with the battery first. Hasn't helped my mood today either.....
Found some bargains at the NCT sale though so that has been the highlight of the day, plus took dd to the park, which was fun for about half an hour until she needed the toilet and the ones in the park were disgusting so we had to go home - ahhh
dq, we also have a little tree sitting on our table. Bought it when we lived in a flat and now it works well in a house with a small child!
Bonkerz, I also thought boy If I had known for sure it was, could have gone berserk buying clothes at the sale this afternoon.....
Hope everyone else is feeling ok - I hope to have calmed down before dh gets home, or else he may get an earful.....

sweetheart · 10/12/2005 16:42

Afternoon all.

I'm really sorry I haven't had a chance to read and see how everyone is. I'm sending everyone my love and hopefully next week (after the manic visits have calmed down) I will be able to check in with you all.

Have had some trouble with Lucas - the pead at the hospital has told us he is tounge tied and he is having freat trouble feeding which means he is now jaundice and very unhappy. We have had no sleep since he was born and have had to resort to formula today as he cannot suck properly from my breast.

We have to take him to hospital on Monday and get him referred to a specalist in So,ton who will snip his tounge so he can feed properly. In the meantime I am trying to express so he can have my milk from a bottle.

Also not had 1 spare min as we've been swamped with visitors and phone calls. I'll be glad when it calms down next week.

Anyway, love to you all - I'm going to get 5 mins shut eye whilst SIL has dd for us.

Promise to catch up properly next week

scully · 10/12/2005 17:21

Hi sh, great to hear from you! Sorry to hear about lucas' troubles, hopefully it will be a fairly easy thing to correct? You must be beyond exhausted, with him not happy and all your visitors, hope things improve for you with that next week. I shall enjoy my sleep whilst I still have the chance.....
dh is home and cooking me dinner now and I have calmed down a bit at least.....had a big moan about the car problem but will leave the other list of things I want him to do tomorrow, until a bit later this evening....

bigbaubleeyes · 10/12/2005 18:56

Evening all Hi just pooped in with a quick question. The last two days my hands have been very swollen and very stiff its very sore and achey to bend my fingers.

I know swollen hands is normal but stiff/painful joints is this normal also?

OP posts:
bigbaubleeyes · 10/12/2005 19:02

Oh dear - didnt really poop in - must check posts closer

OP posts:
dramaqueen72 · 10/12/2005 21:10

s/h oh no, so sorry its not been easy with lucas so far heres hoping the specialist can fix ti asap and all can be sorted out. good luck withe xpressing, my bf did it for seven months! and I really know how hard it can be finding time for it and fitting it in ect, but good for you for trying. I hope alls better soon, esp withthe sleep and all. I am missing your posts ALOT!!! ((hugs))

scully, ah yes, men and golf, certain to make me glad hes back and hope hes all humble pie and full of loving!! next time you should ring him a few times, keep him on his toes....LOL esp just before that important tee .....
big eyes, its pretty normal, tho of course def worth mentioning to midwife as can be indicator of high blood pressure and all...but found my ankles are puffy if I do too much at this stage, and ditto stiff fingers. we are at the falling a part stage nice!

ei23mistletoe · 10/12/2005 22:28

evening ladies!! sorry to make everyone worry but no baby for me yet!! the pains turned into nothin an even tho im still gettin them they aint gettin any closer but are gradually gettin stronger!! im not impressed wit all this false labour malarkey i can tell ya!! iv still got nearly three weeks left an i reckon its gonna carry on like this right up til the bitter end!! u no jus to keep me on my toes!!
how is everyone doin? anyone popped yet??

bigbaubleeyes · 10/12/2005 23:32

Thanks DQ for reassurance- all i've done to day is sleep and rub hands and twirl them about.

Havn't been on much but its so exciting to read all the posts re due etc

Ebbie I too did a mamoth hwork day on wed and washed all clothes and bedding yesterday but I was absolutely wiped out in between. I'm determined to finish bits of house stuff tomorrow and decorate tree and cake on mon THEN i'm sitting it out til 23rd.

DQ - I remember off ages ago you were having h birth have you got your pool set up? I tried my tankini on lastnight that I bought ages ago (never used it ) as I plan to use birthing pool in hospital and hubby promptlyinformed me I may need to defuz honestly what are they like - I can't see the fuz he was referring to he didn't offer to do it though.

I only just packed labour bag yesterday - its sitting 2m away and is now starting to freak me out a bit as the impending labour is acutally going to happen. Stupidly I keep watching more and more Discovery H & H labours as if i might just watch the one that has the magic answer do other first timers find themselves doing such things (oh and not too mention a full trawl of a pile of pregnancy mags - just in case i've overlooked a bit of advice)

OP posts:
dramaqueen72 · 11/12/2005 00:18

aw! ei! we thought youd had him/her!! these Bh at the end sure feel 'real' enough huh?
bigeyes, even me -oh mother of many- reads and re-reads the books or magazines. I personally adore junior baby magazine, really informative as opposed to abit brightly coloured but nothing much in it, like some of the others. see if you can find it, its abit hard to find (WH smiths or waitrose have it round here) but its real reading you know? could be a good item to put in that threatening hospital bag!!!
had real upset tummy tonight and threw up too....so got more than abit panicky that this was it. amazing how scared you feel for that moment, even tho youve spent entire week wishing it here. but have nothing now. sigh
mopped floor at 11pm, no not nesting but the drawback of home births.....fear the midwives will find your house a mess!!!LOL

oh and re what to wear in labour......esp in pool, i would go for something loose,. and something you feel comfy in, usually you end up shedding all clothes anyhow trust me, I am the worlds biggest prude but am naked and not caring when in labour!!! I have a white t-shirt for start of labour, one that i am happy to throw out after, oh and take something dry to put on if you get out during labour, or you'll freeze!
i am v bored, cant sleep, done housework, been on ebay..............labour would be a nice distraction

bigbaubleeyes · 11/12/2005 01:52

LOL DQ been away filing photos in albums! Not remotely tired - mybody clock is almost completely wrong way round suppose the erractic sleep will prepare in gud stead. I don't think I can decorate tree at this time of nite though its in bay window fluffed up but with nothing on it.

Hmm we clearing wardrobes tomorrow so I'll swipe sum of DH's tshirts then me thinks tankini was quite a snug fit

I'll look 4that mag. I've gonet thru them all again and compiled job description for DH as birth partner and cut n pasted stuff off net
also .

Its a bit weird sitting here wondering which of the dec mummies cud possibly starting labour now and wen it will be your turn. I'm sure I don't think all this stuff when I manage to stay awake during the daytime.

Hope all is well with everyone anyway. Might try and write out xmas cards now.

Morning all, hope everyone is ok.

NEMO: you in labour yet LMAO
DQ: Love the nursery! you are so talented! It was all i could do to hang wallpaper!!!
Ei, bloomin BH, hopeing you ok today tho and got some sleep.

Am taking DS and DSD to see narnia today, they know nothing about it so will be a nice surprise for them! Just hope i can sit still through it! Last chance to do something with them before Alex arrives!!
Finally i have an appetite!!! For the past 3 days i have been eating like a horse! Maybe Alex has finally run out of fat reserves!! Thank goodness ive only got 8 more sleeps (thats how the kids see it!) Cant stop pottering around in nursery! Made Dh buy an outfit from Adams yesterday for Alex to come out of hospital in mainly because i am hoping she will be under 8 lb and all the bits i had were 8lb plus!!
OK gotta go iron clothes, get dressed and pop to shops for sweeties! Catch you later

MINNIE1 · 11/12/2005 10:50

Morning all, Just popping in to say all is well here.. Have to go again but will pop in later to read thred.. The dog is barking like mad so better go and see whats up with the little s&$t!!

Nemoinapeartree · 11/12/2005 11:15

morning all

bonkerz..pee off...pmsl no not in labour pains are doing my head in though on and off since friday. hope you have a good day watching narnia and that the kids behave. Bless on the tiny outfit...I have no chance of an under 8lb baby.

DQ love the nursery. Lol at it being the smallest room ours is about the same size and its the third bedroom. We actually put adam in there when he was a baby as it was easier, everything to hand and keeping it warmer was easier.

BBE hope you get your tree done today. I know what you mean about being up till silly o clock. I have been staying awake till 2am ish then not able to get up in the morning. Although luckily the past few weeks adam has been more patient and will happily play in his bedroom/ watch tv in our room while I take 2 hours to gather the energy to get up..lol

hope everyone else is ok and if anyone is in labour good luck 4 days today at this time and I will be in labour

Nemoinapeartree · 11/12/2005 11:55
