Hello good idea from tomcat

What are all your xmas tips and recipes or stuff you're doing to get you thru the next fewdays/weeks to EDD's

I going to try and make a stocking to hang in the nursery for when my little lewis comes home and for the first time bake a christmas cake.

OP posts:

DQ,
LOL at telling bubs it will be ok to come out any time after hair appointment! Going to get a pedicure when i start maternity, i have the hair under control.. just wash and blow dry from here on in...

SH,
when is your exam?

MINNIE1 · 06/12/2005 11:27

George i agree i am not going to go near the scales till bubs is born! No point now..

roll on maternity leave i am falling asleep here!!!

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 06/12/2005 11:39

I'm sat here with hair dye on my head & just hoping I'll be able to squish close enough to the bath / shower to rinse it off my head!!
Why didn't I book in to get my hair coloured at the same time as cut???

How long til your maternity leave now Minnie?

MINNIE1 · 06/12/2005 12:16

3 days and 4 1/2 hours in total i have 28 hours todo!!! i cant wait now.. Nearly there..
I opted for the hair colour as well and its hard to wash off i wet the whole bathroom in the process and painted it a red colour!! O well its saves me fainting in the salon like the last time! So i get the blow dry now and i can just about stay up for that!

flutterbeedreaminofawhitexmas · 06/12/2005 12:22

CONGRATULATIONS MOUSEMAN

Looks like I started the postnatal thread just in time

Has anyone heard from Jaysfirst lately, has she gone away or something as she hasn't been around for a while or has something happened early for her

bonkerz · 06/12/2005 12:26

was wondering too about Jay, may text her to check!
Someone is playing tricks with me because i have had an absolutely crap morning. Went to town with Dh and fell over AGAIN! Obviously i blubbed like a baby! Then we went and got our turkey etc from iceland and i picked up some of those nasty microwave chips for my lunch YUM YUM, well got home, put my chips in the microwave and IT BURST INTO FLAMES!!!! Cant live without a microwave especially as have a microwave steriliser for baby so now have to go hunting for a new one when ive finished at hospital! No money and cant believe i cant have my chips!!

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 06/12/2005 12:42

Bonkerz, what a terrible morning. Hope you are OK after your fall. Sounds weird but I'm glad the microwave blew up now rather than when you have your little one as you may have been distracted & not have noticed. I'm sure these appliances just know.
We bought one for about £40 2 years ago (the cheapest one on the shelf) & it is still going strong so you should be able to pick up a new one pretty cheaply hopefully.

I hope the rest of your day picks up.

You really are in the countdown then Minnie!

Nemoinapeartree · 06/12/2005 13:17

morning all
bonkerz poor you sounds like you have had a nightmare...am sure everything will be fine with consultant hun please dont fret.

minnie ooo not long till maternity..lol at dying bathroom red..i did that last time so have just avoided it this time..will just sort head out once baby is here.

funnily enough wondred about jays myself the other day as I remember her posting about going to stay with family but in my pregnancy blur have no idea when that was..lol

SH hope something starts and is done by midnight tonight..lol

Well been to mw this morning and told baby is engaged again [keeps bouncing in and out]. Also that it will be smaller than adam from feeling as I have a lot of fluid this time..lol Just relieved as I mentioned a 'friends' baby being big just to test the water and she said that no this baby will be about 8lb 8 which is small to me..lol. Only downer is that I have to go and have a ecg now before they will give me a prescription for the medication I am supposed to be starting when I have the baby!!!!!!!!!! So sometime in the next 9 days I have to fit in a ecg so waiting for the surgery to call me back with a day.

MINNIE1 · 06/12/2005 14:03

bonkers,
{{{hug}}} Now thats a horrible morning.. At least microwave went now and not when bubs arrives.. You deserve a choc bar as a treat..

George Yip on the final countdown if only my releif worker would listen to me and stop thinking he knows it all.. But i dont care i'm out of here in 3 days time!! yipppppeeee

Nemo,
what weight was you adam? 8lbs 8oz is a fine healty weight..

Have been wondering about Jay aswell, hope all is ok she could be next!

dramaqueen72 · 06/12/2005 14:28

S/H no, I think your little guy is going to be so laid back when he gets here. bless him. he certainly is threatening to show up for your exam tho...I have everything crossed for you.

hey i own a birthing pool. how cool is that!its here
george, if i could get away with a hair dye i would, but think with my highlights in several shades i might not get the colour I intended anyhow, give me two and a half hours off the family.......with tea and magazines. no sucha hardship.........(tho admit to being scared of going into labour ahlfway thro and having green hair where they rinsed it off quick....
shall we have one last TP tuesday? certainly wont be telling my tp measurements afterwards!LOL
just spent a fortune mailing gifts abroad. bloody hell, might be cheaper to charter plane to take them myself next year........
see nemo, 8lbs + would make me nervous LOL I've only ever had 7lb something babies I have a feeling' tho this more. glad to see in my massive homebirth box there is pain relief and stitching stuff!!!
ninah, will you have someone at the hospital with you? I'm all worried for you now...s/h will have had hers by then, make her come up oh i could kick your P for such crap timing,.....
george, hot baths? mmmmmmmmmm, lovely. and hope that cat is okay at the check uup.
i've been having bh all round town. painful and annoying. I dont mind if they are painful and doing something, but painful and meaningless? bah humbug!!

sweetheart · 06/12/2005 14:43

George - sorry you had such a crap morning - on the bright side things can only get better

Minnie - YEAH, mat leave here you come - ohhhh it's such a wonderful feeling! You'll love it! My exam is at 9.30 in the morning thanks for asking. Plus we have a big family dinner tomorrow for my sisters birthday so I keep telling my bump it's tonight or Thursday please - tomorrow would not be a good day.

My dd was 8Ib 1Oz when she was born and this one was on target to be 8Ib 2Oz if he was on time. I'm just worried that the longer he's in there the bigger he's getting! I just hope he doesn't match mousemans 12Ib!!!

Been for another long walk this morning - dh and I went to do some xmas shopping - still nothing! sigh

Ninah - hows things?

MINNIE1 · 06/12/2005 15:01

babygibbon · 06/12/2005 15:26

Hello! Can come on mumsnet now - MIL has finally left after staying 8 days. Now I sort of get on with my MIL and she was a big help with DD, but I really really needed my own space by the end of it, plus she was staying in the nursery so I couldn't prepare it for baby). I feel mean, but I'm delighted she's gone.

Also DD got all out of routine, and hopefully I can now rectify that. Phew. And, I had to cook every night (DH works late 3 nights a week so I stick to ready meals / jacket potatoes etc usually). Moan moan whinge whinge. Give me a few days and I'll be whinging that she's not here to take care of DD when I want a shower etc...

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to mouseman! If we have a boy it'll probably be baby Jack.

And congratulations DQ on your non breech baby and therefore hopefully a homebirth. Yay!

DD is awake now so must go and get her, but I'll be back on later, I'm sure...

p.s. good luck in exam Sweetheart

hello did start to post but work happened
Don't mind BEING at hosp alone it's the getting there and whether ds OK that worries me, I have friends I can call on but p being so druken and vile is not a good bet. Talking to mw tomorrow about transferring records to dad's ...

SH GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!!! YOU CAN DO IT! (and that's the EXAM I'm talking about!)

dramaqueen72 · 06/12/2005 17:30

hey ladies
ninah, youre a feisty brave lady. good for you. how far away are your sisters and such? cant they have ds for you? grrrr to your P again. you dont need to be worried about ds when youre giving birth.
and yes am having trial run in pool, prob tomorrow night. we need to know how long it takes to fill, put up etc........i cant wait, the idea of finally getting in warm water that covers my bump is heavenly!!(i keep flooding the bathroom in attempts to get the water this high...)
ei -hey you, you keep disappearing! glad all is well, and LOL at your other half at the classes...good, wont hurt him to see those pictures......should get you lots of respect!
s/h are you last minute revising? well very very good luck to you. (baby s/h you just stay right where you are til mummys put her pen down....)

oh god my dh has just royally pissed me off. why do they do it eh? he OFFERED ages ago to pay for my hair appointment, and just now when I reminded him, he acted like he'd never heard of the idea.........i could shoot him. he now will pay but only in a 'arent I SO very good and kind' way that gets to me. grrrrrrrrrrrr. bloody man, will have ot get him to write everything down in future, this isnt the first time hes done the 'I never said i'd pay' card.will get him back somehow,......maybe become v agressive in labour??
welcome back babygibbon, hows it going? and mmmmmmm, mil are like fish....they all stink after three days.... you did very well to cope

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 06/12/2005 17:53

Hi all,
Good luck tomorrow SH, can't believe how quickly your exam has come round.
DQ, very of your pool. I bet you will be testing it most days from now on won't you. Sounds gorgeous, wallowing in a giant warm pool of water.
More BH today for me so at least I'm getting an idea of what a contraction feels like (go on tell me that a real contraction is about a million / trillion times more uncomfortable)
Had a lovely afternoon with the NCT ladies and off shopping with one tomorrow am.
Cat is fine too, healing nicely although it took me a while to find her as I had shut her in DPs wardrobe. She smells a bit so I'm really hoping she hasn't had a wee in there, Too scared to check!!

sweetheart · 06/12/2005 18:24

yes DQ - doing some last min revision. My bump is feeling very big and heavy and I constantly feel like I need to wee. I'm satrting to wonder if this last min cramming is worth it!

Feeling pretty fed up tonight - not sure why, probably just tired.

Hopefully I'll be in a better mood tomorrow.

ebbie22 · 06/12/2005 18:30

DD stillpoorly, sojust a quick one to say gdluck sh,and to see if everyone else is still doing ok xx

babygibbon · 06/12/2005 19:43

Bonkerz - how did your trip to see the consultant go? Any luck with the date?

flutterbeedreaminofawhitexmas · 06/12/2005 19:57

s/h - Good luck tomorrow don't get all stressed about it you may bring labour on whilst you taking the damn thing

Bonkerz - Did you manage to text Jay?

I got my hair cut today and am dead pleased about it, DH it due back later tonight from his work trip so I'm hoping he will like it as he has no idea I have had it cut

I'm off on a mumsnet meet up tomorrow some other ladies have organised one for the eastbourne area so I have decided to pop down and see them I'm a bit nervous to be honest. Wish I could have met up with you lot but unfortunatley I was in hospital with George (think we came home that day) hope there will be another meet up with you lot so I can pop along.

babygibbon · 06/12/2005 20:03

Yuck. Sorry, but did anyone else find Frank and Pat's reunion on Eastenders enough to put them off their tea....!

dramaqueen72 · 06/12/2005 21:05

LOL I was 'nesting' all thro eastenders....moses basket stand arrived from my mother and I had to see how it looked next to our bed off to take pictures of the nursery later, its nearly 100% finished. (blind still to go up)(can you tell its the only thing i cant do myself???all the rest is done!!)all i actually have to do now is buy nursing bras next monday.
flutter, glad you love your hair cut! good for you....what did you do with george whilst having it done? bet dh is delighted to be home soon with his lovely wifey and son
s/h hang in there, what tiems the exam? am sending you huge speed thro it and get top marks vibes. gosh hope baby keeps quiet during it....can JUST imagine your waters breaking there!! sorry, dont mean it....I do think youre really close, the moods and shows etc sound v positive for labour. how long was your last labour? (like, have you got time to sit an exam during the early stages...??)how active is your bump today btw ladies? mine has WOKEN up after a quiet few days and is letting me know about it.
george, ah yes, the side of cat owning i dont miss.... do hope when you check or (dp does!) that cat wasnt shut in there long enough.......!!
ebbie sorry you have a poorly one still. get well soon to her.
am quite keen to test pool, however dh is SURE it will be a nightmare to empty and i would hate to give him the chance to say 'todl you so' just yet!
