Hello good idea from tomcat

What are all your xmas tips and recipes or stuff you're doing to get you thru the next fewdays/weeks to EDD's

I going to try and make a stocking to hang in the nursery for when my little lewis comes home and for the first time bake a christmas cake.

OP posts:

know what you mean nemo, hit the shops with Louis on Sat, spend spend spend!. His feet are gigantic and he had to have 'big boy' black school shoes, he was gutted they didn't do colours in a size 10!
Flutter, great news, hope to join you but please God not just yet! in fact I want to be LATE!!!!!

Nemoinapeartree · 05/12/2005 16:40

dec postnatal thread!!!!!

flutterbeedreaminofawhitexmas · 05/12/2005 16:41

Thanks Nemo I knew one clever old soul would do that for me.

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 05/12/2005 16:47

Don't be jealous of shopping trip, it was truely awful. Think I will have to stick to on-line shopping from now on.

flutterbeedreaminofawhitexmas · 05/12/2005 16:49

What the hell did I do wrong in my link?

Nemoinapeartree · 05/12/2005 16:52

flutter you didnt put on the last \ and then a name for the link.

awayninahmanger · 05/12/2005 16:54

can't believe you bought jeans! george I bet you'll be a size 12 or something in a matter of weeks!
I'm mainly in skanky trackies ... mmmmm! gonna burn them asap!
Tell a lie, I do have two elasticated work skirts!

sweetheart · 05/12/2005 17:03

ninah - had a bit of a rush on this afternoon - I'll e-mail you back tomorrow. Sorry - I wasn't ignoring you earlier!

awayninahmanger · 05/12/2005 17:06

god I KNOW that!
I can just imagine you saying in the next day or so - sorry ninah I didn't get back to you, I just had to pop out and give birth, then had to rush to college for exam
so excited things look like they're happening for you maybe perhaps
will be on here first thing tomorrow to check!

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 05/12/2005 17:08

They are HUGE jeans Ninah from the special HUGE jeans shop!!

Size 12....whats a size 12??????

sweetheart · 05/12/2005 17:11

oh george give over - you are so slim!!!!! And with this being your 1st you'll be back to normal in no time after the baby - can you tell I'm just a tad jelous

Ninah - sorry, just didn't want you to think I was ignoring you I feel like I haven't spoken to you properly for ages!

awayninahmanger · 05/12/2005 17:16

that's my point george, you won't NEED the huge jeans shop for long! you will pass the huge jeans shop by on the other side of the road on your way to Karen Millen or whatever other skinny chick shop you will choose to frequent, ergo huge EXTRAVAGANCE
know what you mean sh, wish to goodness you were a bit closer geographically and we could meet up for rl natter, likely to get further in future too - but I have no doubt we'll keep in touch (you know, even if it's not every day I bet we could just pick up a natter anytime, like the best friendships do)

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 05/12/2005 18:00

But I will have to iron something soon if I don't buy more clothes!!
Not expecting to go back to any kind of normality in the near future (that would require cutting down on enormous quantities of choccy & sweets) - you watch, I'll be wearing them at the next meet!!

dramaqueen72 · 05/12/2005 18:54

i'm worrying about what to wear after birth........yes, I know i like to worry about something, its my hobby...... its not 'normal' clothes but its not the MASSIVE jeans I'm in now.........so guess must hunt out my earlier pg clothes. f**k knows where i put them in one of my mad cleaning frenzies.
midwife turned up at after 4pm(after telling me 'anytime after 11.30am.......!)but she brought my huge homebirth box and sat and spoke to me about what happens when. thats it. feel very strange as have been organising this birth forever and now its totally ready. um...now what do i do??!!!
my iron levels have crashed again -why i dont know have been taking iron- so am on certain foods diet and different iron tablets AND liquid iron. eek. I think I'm about ready for this baby, and this birth. honestly NOT having anything to organise is very nerveracking.
just worked out how much weight I ahve put on this pg gee, thats fabulous. not. sigh............
ninah, love the bust you bought sounds great, just the thing to spur you onwards. fire with fire excellent idea btw, you go girl..
george, i know i know,...shopping is a great idea. then you get there, and need sit down, then you need bathroom, then you shop abit, and need sit down. followed by bathroom, etc etc. i get so frustrated at not being able to do shopping properly anymore!!
and yes that was BH you described. I am getting them so often with this pg, and they make me take a sharp loud breath in because they are so tight and umcomfy. i get them alot at night/evening. like often every few minutes for a spell. nice......

s/h am sure YOU are, but is anyone else having daily phone calls ALREADY from family 'just to check you havent had it yet' god they are driving me batty.
making christmas baubles tonight when I cant sleep. I have quite a production line going of things to do when awake.......LOL

sweetheart · 05/12/2005 19:21

I am dreading the saggy after pregnancy bit! I just know I'm going to feel horrible and FAT every day for the next 6 months Infact, perhaps I'd rather stay pregnant!?!?!

I've put on 3 stone DQ and it shows

I have had 100's of phone calls already and yes it is getting annoying. I keep telling anyone who phones - as soon as something happens we'll say - but they still keep phoning.

Dh and I went out yesterday to B&Q, then took dd for a walk with my SIL and then went back to SIL's for a cuppa. We left our mobiles in the car and by the time we returned we had voice messages from 3 people, various text messages and 2 people had been round to check if we were in. It was crazy - we only went for a walk FFS!!!

dramaqueen72 · 05/12/2005 20:39

thats quite funny s/h. i may turn my mobile off tomorrow just to see how many messages and notes thro letter box are there when i get back I'm quite cruel like that.
this iron is really upsetting my tummy midwife said basically tough luck, i need it whatever it does to me.
and yes know that after babyb feeling,.,,now Im huge I dont care, i stick my belly out with pride, walk around in next to nothing at home, dont mind. soon as its all 'me' flab tho i'm bakc to covering up always.
I've put on 15kilos. you can break that in stone to me gently.......i do recall reading anything over 12kilos is a pita to lose. suspect by the time I actually pop i will have stacked on several more.... still i am NOt one to watch my weight during pg so what can I expect. oh no, depressing to think soon I'll be back to worrying about my weight/periods/and all that again. pg has its up side still!!!
no more shows or anything then s/h?

expatinscotland · 05/12/2005 20:45

I've gained 12 kilos, DQ. Mostly b/c I've felt sick and haven't been able to eat some much. I've put on a LOT of fluid, like last time. Here's hoping it's another girl .

Have you tried Spatone sachets? Can you get them where you are? It's the only iron that I've been able to tolerate.

My high heels are gathering dust, as are my boots. My calves are too swollen to do them up.

BUT, I found the Chanel nail varish! Woohoo. It looks brill. I almost settled on a Bourjois brand, b/c I just couldn't find it. Found it in the last store I looked in.

Had two long naps today - 45 mins. each, so feel better about tonight.

MAJOR nesting here.

dramaqueen72 · 05/12/2005 20:52

am on spatone expat........its not enough apparently by itself. when i said a hig intake of iron sup was dangerous my midwife did that face and siad no quite as dangerous as bleeding after birth with levels like mine. so SIGH am on ferrous thingy and spatone. blurgh.
glad you got the nail polish...........I am hanging on for my hair appointment wed, and then-looking bloody glamerous (from the neck up) I am breaking out the pineapple, sex, aubergine, walking, hanging upside down -whatever that list said!!

sweetheart · 05/12/2005 20:55

dq [SHOCK] 15 Kilo's is fine - it's only just over 2 stone Now I'm

And Expat - at 12 kilo's - you two are putting my 3 stone to shame!!!

Have had shows during the day - probably about 4/5 in total. They are getting less and less though.

Dh is coming round to the idea of sex tonight - although he did comment earlier that perhaps I should pop upstairs and "sort myself out" He says he doesn't want to get gung on him!!!

Mind you - I'm a bit worried about trying too hard to start things off - just encase the labour is so long I can't make it to the exam. I think I might just wait and see what happens. Still no pains.......still waiting........

expatinscotland · 05/12/2005 20:56

Aw, DQ! My hemoglobin levels were just below 100 a fortnight ago; here's hoping the Spatone is working, cuz I just can't take the ferrous anything on top of the sinusitis and acid reflux.

You'll feel SO much better after your hair appointment, I did. Just knowing my high/low lights are in order w/NO grey and my hair is bobbed and easy to maintain.

DH is off to find me a pineapple NOW.

MeAndMylittledrummerBoy · 05/12/2005 21:10

Hi Sorry to gate crash - DQ just spotted your Iron dilemma - Ugh! you have my sympathy. I have read/been told that having Vit C with iron helps you absorb more of it, also wholewheat helps too.

If you can't stomach orange juice, try Ribena. I had stupidly low iron levels after DS birth and had to have a blood transfusion to help boost it and was on iron tab's, vit c and wholemeal bread to try and get it back to normal.

Fingers crossed it behaves itself for you.

Sorry for the gatecrash again

H x

bonkerz · 05/12/2005 21:17

ok you lot, have only just bloomin caught up!

SH...... fingers crossed for you! Flutter really needs another person on the ante natal thread!
DQ...... glad your bump is right way round! Full steam ahead for that much wanted home birth!!
Damn, was doing so well then and had loads to write but have gone blank! Im not being ignorant to the rest of you, just being a dippy pregnant ladeeee!!!

Consultant at 3pm tomorrow, plan is to cry, cry, cry and if that dont work i will scream and cry even louder until my lovely consultant says OK MRS BONKERZ YOU MAY HAVE A SECTION ON 16TH!!!!! Im sure i wont need to do all that but its always good to have a plan

Everything is done for christmas! Am making a point of dropping off all the presents for everyone tomorrow and posted 40 cards today! Have Iceland food shopping on sat and then plan to do tesco on line to be delivered about 20th ish and DH will do fresh veg shopping on 23rd.

Dh off tomorrow and Thursday and Saturday which will give us some time alone, much needed time i think! Although he is being quite well behaved at the moment!

Not alot else to say! EXCEPT, all you ladies who keep talking about weight gain STOP IT!!!! Makes a fat girl like me cringe!! Although am very lucky that i still weigh less now than i did at 5 weeks pregnant infact ive just looked in my notes and i weigh 2.5kg LESS NOW than i did at 7 weeks pregnant!

katzglitterytree · 05/12/2005 21:19

hi sweetheart not going to say the dreaded so have you had it yet? my dd2 was 2 days early and i still got three weeks of this!!!

Dramaqueen -do you drink a lot of tea? because the tannine(sp) in it stops the iron binding and being adsorped, i found with dd1 i had better iron levels because tea make me sick but with dd2 i could drink tea and my iron levels were pants

scully · 05/12/2005 21:39

So nothing has happened with anyone yet then
Spent Sunday pottering around the house and then took dd to a 4th b'day party - she had fun but quite tiring though as I was out of the house for 3hrs, which is about my limit these days. But dh had cooked roast pork for dinner so that was lovely to come home to
Not getting a lie in anymore as I'm dropping him at the station to get the 6.58am, the train I used to catch but at least I can come home and sit on the lounge for a bit afterwards. Actually had to nap between 8-9am this morning as I was hit with this wave of tiredness - dd was happy, she cuddled with me on the sofa and got to watch an hour of telly, not the norm that's for sure....
Got brave and went to an NCT meet at someone's house this afternoon, met a lovely lady who lives close to me, with a 4yr old and 1yr old. So dd had someone to play with and I had someone to chat to. Hoping to see her again in the New Year. & I might go along to a bumps and babes meeting tomorrow afternoon, whilst dd is at nursery. Figure I won't meet anyone local sitting in my lounge room, although it is a bit daunting.
Think the nesting thing has arrived too, actually cleaned some windows yesterday and cooked a dessert for dd, 2 things out of the ordinary Haven't quite made it to ironing though nemo
