Hello, not sure if there's a similar thread already but just thought I'd create somewhere for nayone else expecting in April 2012?

I actually conceived about 3wks ago but I think this counts as week 5? Just staring to get symptoms - headaches, little stirrings of nausea, getting tired and grumpier than usual lol.

A little bit concerned because I have a LOT of work on from now until October and maybe beyond - and I think I'm just going to want to sleep and puke through it all - hell! :( d'oh.

Ugly We gave in to MIL after she kept ringing over and over to ask if she could tell yet.

Have to admit to slightly naughty motives for letting her tell though Blush she was at DH's cousin's wedding, and that cousin has been a bitch to us, so there's some satisfaction in knowing we upstaged her wedding a bit. Very naughty, I know.

My mum, luckily, understands why we don't want to tell till after the scan.

Other weird thing, MIL seems to think the midwife has somehow confirmed the pregnancy just by us going to the booking appointment. Hmm Maybe she thinks midwife's have magic powers?

Momface · 30/08/2011 09:15

"Haha welcome to the mad house Momface!"

Thanks, Empusa.

Sorry to read that so many of you are feeling so ill. But I must admit that you are scaring the sh*t out of me! ;)

I am not feeling great (insomnia, really tired all the time, a bit queasy, backache, breathlessness, etc), but I've not thrown up. THANK. GOD. I am a bit phobic about it, really. At the risk of getting into the realm of TMI (can you tell I am new to this?), has anyone else experienced morning sickness exiting the body...um...the other way? Because THAT has been pretty constant. I will take that over puking any day, though.

Bearcrumble · 30/08/2011 09:46

Hi Momface - no, I have the opposite - dreadful constipation. I keep trying to remember to eat prunes and stuff but all I want is crackers and cheese.

I haven't told my inlaws and we don't plan to until after the scan. My mum and dad and my dad's wife know but they have been sworn to secrecy (and dad and wife live in another country anyway).

Bearcrumble · 30/08/2011 09:49

Whenskiesaregrey thinking of you and your scan today. Really hoping all is well.

StrandedinStLucia · 30/08/2011 11:52

Hello! Not been on here in a while and it's lovely to see so many new names, congrats to you all.

I was at a family wedding at the weekend, and had to disguise the fact that I wasn't drinking, also had to have a different starter to everyone else as it was Goat's Cheese... I have melon! Even with all that (blatantly obvious I thought) no one said anything!!! Well, one person did and we did admit to her, but it was at the end of the night and she was very VERY drunk, and didn't say anything at all the following day - we think she may have forgotten!!!

Had my meeting with the midwife today, she seemed nice, but did tell me off for not filling everything out before she got there, no one had told me to! I have got "Emma's Diary" and an NHS Pregnancy Book and have to make my appointments for blood tests etc.

Back to work (school) on Monday and will tell the Head then, not planning on telling anyone else though, try and hide the general crappiness that I have been feeling, until the 26th (1st scan!- Exciting!!!!)

Empusa · 30/08/2011 12:11

Don't know what to do today.

Feel really sick, so do I take my anti-sickness pills (even though they make my muscles ache and feel weak, and stop me sleeping in the evenings), or not and just throw up?

I'm going to be so damn happy when this is all over!

whenskiesaregrey · 30/08/2011 13:05

Hi everyone

Thank you bearcrumble

We are back from the scan. Nothing could be seen abdominally, and a transvaginal scan showed a sac, nothing else, measuring 4 weeks. They have said there are 3 options, either the pregnancy is only 4-5 weeks, and not the 7-8 weeks I thought (which I doubt as I got a pos test 3 weeks ago); the baby never developed past 4-5 weeks, or I'm having an ectopic preg. Have had hcg levels taken this morning, and need to go back in 48 for repeat hcg to see if it has raised any.

To be honest, I'm in bits. I just knew something wasn't right.

Sorry to put such a crappy post on what is meant to be a positive thread. Will know more on Thurs, so yet more waiting. I think I'm going to go mad.

Empusa · 30/08/2011 15:18

whenskies :( I'm so sorry to hear that Look after yourself!

AprilAl · 30/08/2011 15:23

So sorry to hear that whenskiesaregrey. Really not sure what else there is to say. Will be thinking about you and hoping you get some better news on Thursday.

Take care of yourself

digitalgirl · 30/08/2011 15:49

Sad whenskiesaregrey sorry to hear the scan didn't give you the news you were hoping for. I've been in your position many times before and it sucks. Hopefully you'll get a definitive answer in a couple of days time as sometimes the waiting in limbo bit can be worse than knowing what you have to deal with. Thinking of you.

whenskiesaregrey · 30/08/2011 16:05

Thank you everyone. I feel awful posting such a negative post :( I've tried ringing the hospital this afternoon to get my hcg levels but they won't give them to me :( I'm partly hoping its a mmc so that's its not ectopic. I couldn't bear the thought of losing a tube too :( once again, sorry for being so morbid, I just don't know who else to speak to. Fed up of having to explain to people in rl, and I haven't really had a response to my post on the miscarriage board :(

Empusa · 30/08/2011 16:08

It's what this thread is for, don't worry about it. You talk/type away! Happy to listen and just be here for you

whenskiesaregrey · 30/08/2011 16:30

I've just got a million questions going through my head. Trying to work out if its at all poss I am 4 weeks preg, although can't see how as it would have meant me testing positive at 1-2 weeks. Although that is what the test said, I thought 1-2 weeks on the test actually meant 4-5 weeks? And what do i do if its a mmc? Wait around indefinitely for my body to let go? Or go for the chemical mc which sounds positively awful according to some posts. Or go for the erpc, which leaves you with a higher risk of an incompetent cervix if future pregnancies? And what if its ectopic? What if my tube goes? I have two days of this, I'm going to go mad :(

whenskiesaregrey · 30/08/2011 16:30

Thank you everyone

Empusa · 30/08/2011 16:35

"Although that is what the test said, I thought 1-2 weeks on the test actually meant 4-5 weeks?"

I thought it meant 1-2 Confused

Had a look on the clear blue site (I assume that's the one you used) and it says 1-2 weeks should equate to 3-4 weeks. So maybe there's a chance it's all ok?

whenskiesaregrey · 30/08/2011 16:43

Thank you Empusa. It was the clear blue. I couldn't possibly test positive so early could I? It is my glimmer of hope at the moment, but I'm trying not to get too hopeful. I just wish I could get my hcg to see if its corresponds.

Slinkysista · 30/08/2011 16:46

Hi everyone
I did a Clear Blue test on Saturday and it said 3+, so is it right that I am actually about 5 weeks?
This will be DC2 but I feel very different from my first pregnancy, I keep having sharp period like pains in my tummy area, anyone else feel like this?
Seeing my doctor on Monday but am a bit worried!
Any advice would be appreciated Smile

Empusa · 30/08/2011 16:47

That makes sense. I'll be thinking about you all Thursday

Empusa · 30/08/2011 16:48

"I keep having sharp period like pains in my tummy area, anyone else feel like this?"

I've been getting that too, one of the books I've read suggest it may be the feeling of the uterus stretching itself.

whenskiesaregrey · 30/08/2011 16:58

Thank you for your help Empusa. I'be never hoped I have misunderstood something so much in my entire life.

Slinkysista · 30/08/2011 17:10

Thanks Empusa I was a bit worried! Don't remember feeling that the first time round.

Bearcrumble · 30/08/2011 17:17

Oh Whenskies my love, I am so sorry Sad. It's horrible not having a definite answer, not surprised you feel like you are going mad.

Please don't apologise, we are here to support each other.

As Empusa says the clearblue test will show up positive even a week after conception (I know this for sure because I used one with my last pregnancy). 1-2 weeks on the clearblue test refers to weeks from conception, so it equates to 3-4 weeks pregnant.

If there is a sac in your uterus it seems very unlikely to me that it's an ectopic.

MichaelaS · 30/08/2011 17:31

hi all, please can I join?! I'm due on 22nd April and am currently 6+2 so still pretty early.

I had a horrible pregnancy last time - well actually it was a great pregnancy until about 23 weeks when my cervix packed in and I needed an emergency stitch, and had my son at 24+1.

This time i'm supposed to be getting consultant care and a stitch placed at about 12 weeks but i spend most of the afternoon fighting the NHS system which is crazy. Consultant who agreed my care no longer sees antenatal. Have to see any old consultant via antenatal clinic at hospital. Hospital won't see me without booking in with midwife first. GP won't let me have booking in appointment wiht midwife until 8 weeks. So how exactly am I supposed to see a consultant for an early review at 8 weeks!? AAARGH.

Hormones kicked in and i ended up in floods of tears in the middle of my gp surgery waiting room whilst on the phone to the horribly patronising antenatal midwife at the hospital who was telling me to take a deep breath whilst i was explaining how exactly her stupid system would probably lead to the death of my baby. because obviously a deep breath would help. grr. anyway, it did work out inthe end as the GP's receptionists took pity on me and got me in to see the midwife tomorrow - phew - hopefully it'll start the ball rolling.

phew - sorry for the mammoth introduction there but hello and I hope this time i can get to the size-of-a-whale swollen ankle and horrible heartburn stage!

digitalgirl · 30/08/2011 17:36

whenskiesaregrey I think the earliest you can get a positive pg test is maybe 8 days post conception when you'd be technically 3+1. So if you took it 14 days ago the earliest you could possibly be today is 5+1 - 5+0 at a push. Would that make sense?
The hcg levels should double every couple of days so they will tell you if they're doing that. If they are then they'll probably want to re-scan you in a week's time.
I think the fact that they've seen something means its unlikley to be ectopic. I have no experience with ectopic pg, but if you were 7 weeks but it was ectopic I'm pretty sure they would have seen something in your tubes at this stage. So I think you can probably stop worrying about the ectopic part. If they were genuinely concerned this was the case then they'd have you stop in for overnight monitoring.
I've had 3 natural mc's and one ERPC. If you do need to have an ERPC then the risks are very very low. Hopefully you won't need to have one, but if you have any questions feel free to PM me.
